NOTE: A patch on March 25, 2015, added a work-around to obtain items from Cazic Thule, Dread, Fright, and Terror:

In the Plane of Fear, a harbinger of Fear can help adventurers get their epic 1.0 pieces that would normally drop from Cazic-Thule or the golems. These pieces cannot be multi-quested or traded. In addition, a harbinger of Fear can advance the Whistling Fists quest in the same way as Cazic-Thule.

You must first do the monk shackle quests. Once you finish with the steel shackle you need to do 3 tests.

1. Newbie note hand in ( Else wise known as Shackle of Dust quest)
2. Shackle of Clay
3. Shackle of Stone
4. Shackle of Rock
5. Shackle of Copper
6. Shackle of Bronze
7. Shackle of Steel
8. Shackle of Tynnonium

The first is in town with Grandmaster Glox. Say "I am Ready for the Trial of Agility". You then will have to fight him (he is light blue to a 59). He drops the Mark of Agility.

Next there is an Iksar Monk in Timorous Deep named Grandmaster Rinmark. You tell him "I am ready for the Trial of Patience" and he will say that you will know when it's the time to attack. Wait for a few minutes and he will change from GrandMaster to Master. Wait again and he will change from Master to just plain Rinmark. Kill him at that point. He is a little thougher than Glox. He drops a Mark of Patience.

The last test is in Kaesora. You must have the shackle of Steel for this. Take this Shackle to the library and look for a mob on the second floor called Tome Keeper. Hand him the shackle and he gives you a book (called what?). There are different books, so this step varies depending upon which book you get. The book tells you what item you need, where to get it and who to hand it to. Get that item and hand it into the person it tells you to in the book and you will receive the Mark of Mind.

Once you have all 3 marks head to the Dreadlands and look for a monk named Veltar. He is near the FV zoneline on top of the ruins in the desert area. Hand him the 3 marks to get your shackle of Tynnonium. Once you have that shackle head over to Cabilis. Right next to the arena is an underground entrance and look for a monk named Marthor hidden in there at -352.00, -119, -52.

You say, 'Hail, Marthor'

Marthor hiccups and breathes drunken breath in your face saying, 'Leave me be, can't you see that I am meditating or something?'

You say, 'I have the shackle of Tynnonium.'

Marthor says 'Supreme Master Tynn was the only one that has even seen the weapon. I do not know its origin. I tell you though, you would need to be as powerful as he was to be able to wield the weapon. Only an Iksar of the last rung would be able to use it, come back and show me you have earned your Tynnonium Shackle and I will discuss with you what I know.'

Hand him the shackle.

Marthor says 'You earned the Tynnonium Shackle? I am sure you wish to seek the fists of lore. Gandan has come as close as anyone, you would have to talk to him. Last I heard his expedition has taken him to the Howling Stones.'

You get the shackle back.

Head to Howling Stones (Charasis). Fall to the bottom near the entrance (+1 Safe Fall). Find Gandan Tailfist feigning death at 278, -15, -175.

You say, 'Hail, Gandan Tailfist'

Gandan Tailfist places a foul smelling book in your hands and speaks to you slowly. 'Take this rotting book given to me by lord Cazic-Thule himself, I was given another but it has been lost. The search for the fists will be the end of me. If you are a monk of the final rung show me your Shackle of Tynnonium and I will share with you what I have found.'

You receive a Flayed Skin Tome..

Give him your shackle, which you receive back.

Gandan Tailfist says ' The search for the fists has killed many so I hope that your strength is more than mine and those in the past. I was given this satchel by the lord Cazic-Thule. I have searched for the fists in this place but they are not here. I suggest you seek audience with our lord. Tell him that I have failed in my task. I am sure that he ugnnnnnhnnn.' One last look to you is given before falling completely lifeless to the cold stone.

You receive a Satchel of Flayed Skin.

Now head to PoF and go up to Cazic (or the Shade of Cazic Thule) and tell him that Gandan has failed in his task. You will receive a book (called what?)
that tells you what you have to place in the bag.

You then need to head to Feerott and talk to a new gnome necro named Annaelia Wylassi:

You say, 'Hail, Annaelia Wylassi'

Annaelia Wylassi says 'If you have nothing other than a hail to offer me you best move along, I need concentration to study these odd bones that I unearthed. Funny thing about them though, they seem to resonate a hum. Quite unusual, you probably aren't interested in that though.'

You say, 'I am interested in that.'

Annaelia Wylassi says 'Are you? I didn't take you for a necromancer. I tried to reanimate these remains but due to the vibration it was too unstable and collapsed. I have given up trying to animate them. I would need more supplies if I were to try again. I am too busy with other research to care though. If you are so interested you could go fetch the supplies for me. I suspect the bone structure is of a human, so I would need a vial of human blood. A jade inlaid coffin would be needed to perform the ritual in. Also a vial of clear mana to bind the bones with strong magic, and an essence emerald to complete the ritual.'

Give her the four items and she gives you Resonant Bone Chips, which identify as "Remains of Zan-Fi."

There is a small quest from the Cabilis monk guild that requires 2 torn halves for a note that you hand in to the master behind Glox and he gives you a Thin flute. Take this flute and hand it in to Brother Balathin in the Dreadlands and he spaws up as a pissed off version of himself -- lvl 61 and hits for a max of 240 and can be slowed. Once killed he drops another flute. That is your second piece.

Now head to Sebilis in the crypt area and look for a skeleton named a fallen monk.

You say, 'Hail, a fallen monk'

A fallen monk says, 'Failed to find the rest I have. If you wish what is mine then give proof of the shackle unto me."

Hand him in your Shackle of Tynnonium.

fallen monk says, "Earn what is mine. Show me when you have the power worthy to wield what i posses.'

It will keep it and respawn as a fallen iksar master. Kill it and and loot Faintly Glowing Fist. That is the 3rd item.

The last piece is hard to get since you have to do the stupendous tome quest (see the write-up for the Crusader's Test of the Lord quest). Once you have that done, head to Trakanon's Teeth with the book and a Crusaders Coffin(Sold in Cabilis). Hand them in to Crusader Vragor (spawns at around n2800 p2785).

You say, 'Hail, Crusader Vragor'

Crusader Vragor says 'Perhaps you would care to hear a tale, and perhaps you could help me with the ending. it is the tale of the end of Grandmaster Tynn. We all know that Tynn came into Sebilis with no rebirth. I suppose you know he created the caste of Iksar monks, but I doubt you know where he now rests do you?'

You say, 'No, I do not.'

Crusader Vragor says 'Then I shall tell you. Master Tynn chose a place of rest in his old age. While deep in meditation he slipped away and breathed no more. His corpse remained in teh stance of meditation for many years unyielding to the elements. This brings us to recent times. A Trakanasaur that has been named Zhaoku came along the remains and devoured them. The bones too hard to be chewed, he swallowed them whole. To this day he wanders with them lodged in his stomach. Are you interested in knowing where Zhaoku is?'

You say, 'Yes, tell me!'

Crusader Vragor says 'I will tell you but you must help me first. I have been tied to this plane because of deeds unfinished. I was questing for the stupendous tome for ages to no avail. Without this tome I can not pass on in peace. finish my quest, bring me the stupendous tome and a crusader coffin. I will tell you where the beast rests before I pass on. I doubt you can finish this, but i can always hope.'

Hand him the items he seeks.

Crusader Vragor says 'The tome! I can finally pass on in peace. Before i go I will tell you that Zhaoku rests to the east of here near Old Sebilis. He is gigantic and not easily missed.' Crusader Vragor vanishes into a mist, his sigh of relief the only thing left behind.

You gain experience!!
You gain experience!!

He will then spawn a lvl 59 Giant Dino named Zhaoku. Kill him and he will drop Thule Touched Bones and some rare spells. Those bones ID as the Remains of Tynn.

Combine all the bones in the bag and you will get the satchel of Cazic Thule. Then take the bag and the 2 tomes back to Cazic Thule and you receive the Whistling fists.

"Cazic-Thule seems pleased at the amount of pain that you have been able to inflict. Cazic-Thule then grabs your hands and begins to infuse them with his power. Your hands burn like they were placed in lava for a moment, then feel cool as ice. You can feel the sheer power flowing through your new weapons of pain."

Need all dialogues, faction hits if any, minimum required faction to get quest, missing quest mobs/steps, /loc of quest mobs, drop information, missing names of quest items, etc.

It sounds like you aggroed a mob when you tried doing your turn-ins. Mobs in Fear have quite a large aggro radius. When CT gets aggro, he summons his 3 Golem Guards (2 of which DT, explains you getting DT'd) and most of the mobs in fear to himself. By having aggro on a mob, CT assisted the mob, which is why he aggied you.

Just got this a few minutes ago, and i must say it feels good, i went in with a raid force, before force got to any of the golems (although taking out most of the trash) it stalled when the golems pathed to gether and got stuck, so i finally did the most obvious thing ever, i invised (me being iksar i was warmly faction with cazic) and only cazic saw me so i did who turn in and dialogue invised safe from roaming mobs
Info on "a fallen iksar"
# Aug 24 2004 at 10:42 AM Rating: Excellent
Okay, I havent seen any good info on the fallen monk, so I had to go in and take him without really knowing what to expect. I had a full group, lvl's from about 50-65, with the 65 being a cleric who could have soloed him easy. This group was overkill, really. When you first come to him (he was up when we came in), in his room, which is correctly written as being just south of the pyramid and north of the crypt. We had a rogue with a picklock of 210 (need at least 201), he got the door open easy. He was blue to me (55 monk), and indifferent to all in our group, so it is easy to set up around him to prepare. I then handed in my Tynn shackle *sniff*, then he instantly despawned, and respawned as "a fallen monk master", lvl 57. He hit in the mid 100's, don't have log atm, will check in it and edit this post later. With us on him (55 monk, 65 cleric, 52 rogue, 55 shaman, 57 druid 65 mage), we took him down very quickly, about 10 secs. No faction hits. Like I said, the cleric could have soloed him easy, although you do need a rogue to get past the door. Dropped Faintly Glowing Fist and nothing else. Note- NO, you do *not* get your Tynnonium Shackle back, I did quest twice and now wear WF and Tynn Shackle; it really is worth it.

I've seen posts where people talk about doing the shackle quest twice because it gets eaten when you turn it in, but the above description says you get it back. Which is it please?

Never mind, I see it now.

Can a level 34 monk do this quest with the help of higher levels? and what level do you have to be before the fist proc?

You know, while I'm sitting here in PoFear waiting for this fat spiked lump to turn his back to me it occurs to me that as long as you have a monk, mage, and necro and CT is up a CR from fear is very easy. I'd just zone in and haul *** to where CT is with the monk. Go over to him and get aggro then just immediately FD. Everything in the zone instantly is summoned to him with no exception and then you can zone in any amount of people who need summons and rezzes very safely. And if the mobs start getting too close then just coth the monk back with the mage, port out, and try again. Though it would be optimal to get it the first time seeing as the golems might be able to murder you instantly if they haven't wandered back to their spawns. Also a perfect way to do a break in...

Finally done, I must ssay even with my epic done this song adds a nice bit of stats as do the actual fists. I did the brother balatin fight with 1 65 shaman and a tank we didn't need. Did the fallen monk fight with 1 65 rogue and 1 65 druid. And finally I did the monster fight in trak teeth with a 65 druid, 65 paladin, 65 wizard, and a 65 shaman which was overkill 5 times over. Very easy quest for any early 50's monk to do so try it out. The only really hard part may be the outlander qwinn part but he follows a pathing/spawn cycle so it's easy to get even without a tracker. Good luck...

Bordon (lvl 51 Monk)

PS- I dunno how it is for iksar but human monks you will have to use sneak to do the final hail and hand in to Cazic Thule. Do all that you can to not aggro him or it's over because he will summon the golems and they take forever to walk back to their houses and they will death touch you if you stand up too soon after that and they can reach you from a long range.

Most quest containers were broken by the new tradeskill UI. Reportedly, this is fixed on test as of 3/5/04. I'd try again after the next patch.

Just got these on the Rathe 1/24/04 .... Would just like to give a few pointers to future questers... These are well worth doing and can be done mostly solo. I had help killing Zhaoku, Brother Balathin, A Fallen Monk, and the final turn in to Cazic-Thule, but the rest can be soloed by a 53 monk with no cleric buffs...just bandages and a high level BW skill. Charasis (aka Howling Stones) was a fairly easy part of the quest...all you need is Shackle of Tynn, and the key to come in. A high level HP buff would not be a bad idea because some of the mobs you need to run through have 500d HT's and can be nasty if you don't have the right HP's. Once you work your way to Gandan Tailfist if you have any aggro you can just bring it to him and FD; he will take care of it. Hail him for Book of Flayed Skin and hand him your Shackle of Tynn (you will get it back don't worry) and he will give you the 4-slot combine bag for the turn ins. A gate potion is then needed to gate out; I suggest buying 2 because if 1 fails you're trapped. The Stupendous Tome quest was fairly easy as well. The camps are not too long and can be held by a 53 monk. Mistmoore was done solo and I got the 2 scrolls within 2 hours (bad luck.) City of Mist was easy but kind of long... you just need to camp one of the Courier's PH (he has 3) and continue to kill the mobs until he pops. I got the 3 scrolls from the Spectral Courier in a little over a day of camping. He spawns every 3 or so PH's and you have a 1 in 3 chance of getting a new scroll. (He always drops a scroll.) In Kaesora, I got to the library and the Fallen Crypt Raider was up and waiting for me (got lucky.) When you have all 6 scrolls go to the Frontier Mountains and kill in the goblin caves where the Iksar Slave is for the following keys: A Bone Key, A Bone Necklace, and a Stone Key. Turn these in to the Enslaved Iksar next to the Iksar slave. He is the guy who wears the armor. He'll hand you a dagger looking object and then you head to Droga. This is a level 60+ zone but the mobs do not see through invis. You need to have shrink on x2, invs on, and 2 gate potions. Head to the jail area and turn in the 6 scrolls and the dagger into the Always Works machine in one of the cells. You will then have the Stupendous Tome and can gate out. The last tip I want to give is the turn in to Cazic Thule. DO NOT go into Plane of Fear solo no matter how tough you might think you are or you will die. And a corpse retrieval in PoF is not very fun. The best way to do this is wait for a CT raid to happen and ask if you can go along. Once all of the mobs are killed in the zone except for Cazic Thule, ask if you can go up and do the turn in. Walk up to him and say, "Gandan has failed in his task" and he will give you a second Flayed Skin Tome. Then turn in the 2 tomes, one from CT and one from Gandan, and the combined Satchel of Cazic Thule and receive the Whistling Fists. Good luck to everyone attempting to do this quest especially any Humans, this quest is definatly worth it.

I went in solo and didn't get even one mob attacking me....camped NE of fire ring til CT spawned...about 5 days...he's on a 7 day timer.
Waited til he had no other mobs near him and ran up and did the turn in.
Afterwards I used an insta-gate potion I bought in Cabilis for 1K. I did all this at lvl 51.
BIG Side Note:
If you want to keep your shackle ofTynn, do the quests twice!

I am near the final stages of my Whistling Fist. I am trying to figure out exactly how much firepower I will need to complete certain steps, as I do not want to fail and have to them over again. Does anyone have any idea how tough, and how big of a group/raid will be needed to Beat these mobs:

1) Zhaoku (lvl 59)
2) Brother Balatin (lvl 61)
3) A Fallen Iksar Master (lvl ???)

Any help would be appreciated. This is all I have left :)

There are iksar illusion potions out there, Essence of Iksar, if a human agnostic monk were to down one of those what might the result be in the eyes of Cazic Thule? Still KOS or amiable as if one were a iksar monk? Just curious if anyone had tried this or not.

For the love of god, someone modify the quest to let people know the Fallen Monk in Sebilis will EAT YOUR SHACKLE OF TYNNONIUM!

I know many a monk who read this walkthrough and figured they'd have no problem gathering everything before they went to HS to get the bag, only to realize they would have to go do the shackles all over again.

There's a lot of info missing from this quest as well. Minor things, but nonetheless important.

Zhaoku spawns nowhere near where you turn in the Stupendous Tome. He spawn over by the giant pillars and gates that mark the enterance of the Old Sebilis ruins.

The Stupendous Tome quest itself is missing in its entirety. Think I may write up something a little better and submit it, this walkthrough's kinda lacking.

As a note, you don't need to see CT until you have everything prepared already. Clear the area out around him. Iksar aren't kos to Cazic, but he will assist if you get aggro on mobs near him. Say the triggerline to get the book, then hand it back with the other book and the combined satchel.

Um if u read the walk thru it does say u lose the shackle at the fart of the fallen monk. That is why it is suggested to do this part last.

Also if u read the post right below urs is the update that has the stuppendous quest entirely laid out.. and in addition monkly-business has all the information also.

edit my above post....monkly business about the stuppendous tome is outdated regarding to the three key part needed for the dagger.

It is know in FM in the same room with the 'enslaved' version of veltar from shackle of steel quest. (marked B on EQ atlas maps, -2000, 2000; bottom room following right wall in) Also two things i learned that were not obvious to me.... 1) the "bone necklace key" that some refer to is actually just a bone necklace no drop (drops off penmaster and looks like necklace not key). 2) the turn-in NPC for the keys the enslaved iksar to the left of the enslaved iksar Veltar. There is a PH for it u need to get the shorter 'enslaved iksar' dressed in gold monk-like clothing. (i think a crazed iksar is also a possible PH there) More importantly tho, the enslaved iksar PH is amible to u and has negative iksar faction if u kill him. So u will need some one to kill it for u to take the faction hit (very easy kill but can run fast so root is good if u don't want to add the gobbs above u.) But give the three items to the shorter gold wearing 'enslaved iksar': stone key (off penkeeper), bone key (off penmaster), and bone necklace (off penmaster)....
Mostly complete way to get fists

I had to search high and low for up to date information about completing the Whistling fists quest. SO I decided to post this guide to help out. (Sorry for being so long)
Whistling fists:
Start off by getting your Key to Charasis. Where it says to go to Kaesora and kill Xalgoz for his fang; also go to the library and kill the Failed Crypt Robber for its illegible scroll. Good idea also would to get both of these things while turning in your shackle of steel for your tome.
While you're at being handy, when you are working on getting your Shackle of Steel in FM goblin cave, you also need to kill Penkeeper and Penmaster in the room with the iksar slave (veltar). They drop 3 keys that you need to hand into the iksar next to veltar (the one wearing the golden chain armour, warning he can have a PH). These keys are: Bone Key, Bone Necklace Key, and Stone Keys. The bone keys drop off of Penmaster, and the stone off of Penkeeper. Turn in these 3 keys and you will receive a dagger used later.
Gandan Tailfist - he is located in Charasis (Howling Stones), to get to him drop down as soon as you zone in off the pit trap directly east. Then head west through the Pathway (note: 2 golems are standing out of view just inside the pathway), take the right just as you enter, and follow the path to the end. He should be either standing or FD?d in the upper left corner of the room at the end of the hallway. Once you find him, hail and he?ll ask to prove yourself by showing him your shackle of tynnonium (he gives it back). At this point you should have in your possession: Satchel of Flayed Skin, and Flayed Skin Tome.
Remains of Grand Master Tynn - this is where you have to collect the illegible scrolls (like the one you got off the crypt robber). Besides the one from Kaesora, there are 5 others that you have to collect. Two are inside Mistmoore Catacomes off of A Dark Librarian, and An Assistant Dark Librarian. To get to the Dark Librarian, head in through the front door, once you hit the double doors up the stairs a little ways in head right. You should soon come across a room full of books (the library), the librarian spawns along the east wall near the 2nd bookshelf on that wall (note: this room is just before the Advisor room). To get to An Assistant Dark Librarian from the library, head back out the door you came in and keep going until you hit those two doors again. Instead of going through the doors back out front, keep going down the hallway, take the little jog to the right and up the stairs. To your left should be a gargoyle and 2 doors, one to your left and one to your right. The Assistant librarian is in the second room you come across to the left. You should now have 3 illegible scrolls, to get the last 3 of 6 scrolls head to City of Mist. There are 3 spawn points for the Spectral Courier (the mob that drops the scrolls). All 3 are located in the "stables." One is in the west stables in the south room furthest from the door (in the north-east corner of the room, near a broken bed). The other two are in the east side. One being in the left room as you enter into the stables, and the other in the right stable area just to the outside of the right room. The courier drops 1 scroll on each death, so the only way of getting all 3 is to attempt to loot the scroll and either get it, or receive the lore item error message. Note: all mobs that drop illegible scrolls have an always drop rate. You should now have 6 scrolls and that dagger off of the enslaved Iksar from FM. These need to be combined in the "Always Works" machine in Droga (used to be Stupendous Machine). To get there buy a 5-10 dose potion of Ant's potion (need to cast twice for 2x shrink), a few cloudy potions, and a gate potion. Use these two maps: map 1 and map 2 and make your way to 6 on map 2. You can jump out of the jail cells if you are twice shrunk with ease. If you fall into the jail cell by going to number 7 on map 2, you will see the machine in the far jail cell from where you fell down. Run over there and combine the dagger and 6 illegible scrolls, you should get back Stupendous Tome. Keep this for later, we?ll kill all the necessary mobs at the end.
The Remains of Zan Fi - to get the remains you need to collect: a vial of human blood, a jade inlaid coffin, essence emerald (from a necro sacrifice), and a vial of clear mana (chanter made). Once you have these items, head over to Feerrott. You need to hail Annaelia Wylassi to the far south-west of the zone (where the PoFear portal used to be). Hail her, and then say "I am interested." Hand her the above items and you should receive: Resonate Bone Chips.
Now for the fun part. Take your Stupendous Tome and a Crusader's Coffin
to Crusader Vragor. He is located inside a hut just before you go up to the ramp to talk to the emperor for your Sebilis key (hey, why not get that too; because you'll need that next). Turning them in will result in a mob spawning: Zhaoku. Killing him will result in the Remains of Grand Master Tynn. Now head into Sebilis.
Flute of Zan Fi - there were 2 torn pages off of Bandits that you killed for your second shackle, you need those now. Hand both these pages into Master Raska in Cabilis. You'll get back An Ancient Flute. Go to Dreadlands (closer if you use the nexus scion), and you will find Brother Balatin (skele), or his PH on top of a pyramid close to the merchant there. You need to stick the flute on your cursor, run up behind him and click to open the give window then FD. If you do this right he won't agro and you can give him the flute - this causes a lvl 61 version of Brother Balatin to spawn. This new Balatin drops the Flute of Zan Fi.
Faintly Glowing Fists - these are found in Sebilis off of a Fallen Monk. You lose your Shackle of Tynnonium when you do this part of the quest (that?s why this step is last). He is located on the 2nd floor of Old Sebilis. Once you hand him the shackle he respawns as a higher level fallen monk which drops faintly glowing fists.
Final Steps - here's the final, and most notably most difficult part of the quest. Combine the Faintly Glowing Fists, Flute of Zan Fi, Remains of Zan Fi, and the Remains of Grand Master Tynn (resonating bone chips) into the Flayed Shachel. Then go to PoFear and tell Cazic-Thule: "Gandan has failed in his task" you will receive Tome Bound in Flesh. Take this tome, the Flayed Tome, and the Satchel of Cazic-Thule (from the combine) and hand these three items into Cazic-Thule. You should receive the Whistling Fists then. If I missed anything, or if something is wrong please reply. Enjoy the quest and Good Luck.

Is there any possible way to MQ the "resonate bone chips" for this. In a fit of mad stupidty i thought this would be a necro quest after talking to the gnome necro and did it with my necromancer. I now have them and are completely useless for my necro. I do howver have a monk and was wondering if it could be mqed?

No, afraid not, as the quest states you have to "Combine all the bones in the bag." Therefore the same person must have all the bones at least that is my take from reading over the quest.
Unless your necro collects all the bones, turns in what they have, and the monk turns in the rest? That is the only way I can think of that it might work, but we are talking doing this around Cazic Thule himself and gods are notoriously unforgiving of horseplay.

Could MQ .. one person does bag (must be monk or at least amiable to CT) person who wants the fists turns in the 2 tomes
RE: MQ

yes but that would be a huge time sink since the Necro would essentialy do the whole Whistling fists quest and the monk would only have to hail CT and hail monk in Howling Stones
tome binder
# Sep 15 2003 at 5:10 PM Rating: Decent
now that droga has been changed, what used to be the tome binder for the stupendous tome quest has turned into an "always works pottery wheel" anyone have any idea where the new tome binder is?
RE: tome binder
# Oct 25 2003 at 2:31 PM Rating: Decent
The wheel is in the same place it was before, just need to shrink and inv to travel down. The wheel is far enough from mobs to not aggro. I would laso have a gate potion, makes the exit much easier( take 2). During this quest , my travels brought me to Howling Stones, where I had to travel down and gate out. Well my gate collapsed nad I only brought one gate potion. oops.

Is it actually necessary to talk to Cazic Thule to get that book to do this quest, or can you skip that step, just put the items in the bag yourself, and go to Cazic when you're finished?

TALK TO CT!?!?!

Ok, all done with this quest except going to have a sit down with cazic-thule. Will i be KoS in Cazic's place there? I know i am KoS in fear, but what about inside the "ring of fire" there, i have not ventured in there yet. Can i just walk on in, or what? This kinda stinks, gotta wait for him to be up!!! I spent weeks on this quest, now i'm done and i want my fists now! don't wanna wait for him to spawn only to have some uber Guild kill him soon as he pops. ANy advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance

Cazic Thule is amiable to his followers. Best bet is to piggyback on a Cazic raid; once his helpers are clear, ask the raid to let you go up and chat with Cazic. Then get someone to port you out before Cazic's engaged, or use the portal out in the ring of fire.

Warning, make sure nobody KOS to Cazic (any non-follower of his, even followers of other evil deities) is in his agro range when you're talking to him, else he'll whip out his AoE deathtouch, and you're toast.

Don't just try walking into the ring of fire to talk to him. If you're iksar, Cazic won't kill you, but the amygdalans surrounding him will. CT worshippers aren't KOS to Cazic Thule himself, but everything else in the zone is still KOS.

If you intend to do this quest, make sure not to be in a Cazic Thule raid until after you've finished it, else you'll take a faction hit that makes you KOS. If you're human, well soesn't matter, since you have to sneak anyway. If you're iksar though becoming KOS to Cazic makes it a lot harder doing the turn-in, and you may want to avoid that. If you're iksar and you become KOS (only takes one faction hit) just do it same way humans do.

Note that you can get book from Cazic just before you do final turn-in, and that means you'll only have to see Cazic once. Stronly recommend you get all items for this quest except Cazic's book before you go in to Fear to deal with Cazic.

Do NOT go waltzing into CT's palace, you will be a grease spot on his nice floor if you try that.

If you are an Iksar Monk, you will not be KoS to CT himself. You may have to clear out all his little helpers first though.

If you are human, you will have to sneak up behind him to do the turn-ins (and you most CERTAINLY need to clear out all his little helpers first). DO NOT HAIL HIM if you are human, he will turn around and, well, you will be a grease spot on his nice floor.

Gandan Hand in
# Feb 06 2003 at 11:32 AM Rating: Decent
hi, I have almost completed this quest have done everything except hand in the tynnonium shackle to gandan for the bag and tome, and then the OS kill. what I'm wondering is, is it possible to solo into HS (FD/sneak) to do this hand in as a lot of guildies dont have the key and i dont wanna make them all go get it for something i could do alone, im a bit concerned about there being mobs HTing for 500+dmg. I'm not uber equipped.

ok I took a risk and answered this by trying, I managed to get to gandan fairly easily only met 2 casters on the way had FD broken once barly lost 1 bub of life b4 fding again and losing them. got to Gandan this is where i had trouble. there is a skeleton spawn there that doesnt leave the area.
As i only had a 30second gate potion on me I was in trouble. I tried to kill him, 1st time i was losing so FDed waitied for mend and disc to come back 2nd time killed him and had 1 bub life left (used mend) then gated out no problem

Go to Monkly-Business first to check out what has been done by Human Monks before you to raise the faction necessary to get their Shackle of Tynnonium and Whistling Fists.

Just as an Iksar Monk following Cazic-Thule can work the faction to quest for the Ashen Order's Red Sash and the Silent Fist Clan's Purple Headband on their own, so too can a Human Monk (Agnostic or follower of Quellious) do this... just takes a little longer. You have to work hard at the faction.

Monkly-Business has all the guides you need to help you get there. Keyeluke and Nightklaw, among others, here on the Monk boards have also posted some excellent information for young monks, Human and Iksar. You can't go far wrong with those resources at your disposal, so please check them out.

Good luck.

Stack??

Do the effects of Celestial Tranquiliy and Jonathan's Whistling War song stack (I.e Whisting fist's haste and Monk Epic haste stacking)?
RE: Stack??
# Aug 27 2002 at 1:21 AM Rating: Decent
Yes, it all stacks except for the haste. The epic haste is better so it overrides. But you still gain the atk and whatever else.

The hardest part of this quest is getting the keys in Droga. Very boring and tiring. I couldn't do it solo at 50. But I got my shammy buddy to help out and now I have my Stupendous Tome. Just have to fight the mob in Trak's and the fallen iksar master in Seb, talk to the guy in HS and then up to see the God of all Gods Himself, Cazic Thule! Can't wait. The Fallen and Trak's mobs will be a snap with the help I have and I should have the WF in the next couple of days. Good luck and be well, fellow monkeys. And you soft skins can all burn from the fiery pleasure of Cazic's touch. :P

Bro i agree with Droga being a hard part of this quest, but if anything is THE hardest is going to see Cazic Thule himself. He spawns once a week, on the plane of fear, so you kinda have to figure out when he's up. I went there alone thinking that i could sneak around, bad idea. Anyway, even with a group it wont be easy to get to CT. My best advice is to wait for next patch. The gods are usually up after you run the patch. I just gotta join a f34r raid, and get my beautiful WF. Good wpn to have at lvl 51, considering quest is rated 55 ;)

Well getting the keys has become much easier with the jail area being moved OUT of Droga and into a 3 cave area in FM, you don't have to use any of the keys in the turn in, and can just get more after it, and head to droga with an invis and use the stupendous machine
