You say, 'Hail, Captain Necin'

Captain Necin says 'Hello, Illia. I'm looking for an accomplished soldier to help me carry out a very dangerous mission. If you know of one please have them report to me at once.'

You say, 'I am an accomplished soldier.'

Captain Necin says 'Very well, acquire a chest of valor and fill it with the medals you receive from scouts Husman, Danarin, and Derin. Give me the resulting soldier's chest and I will reveal the details of my mission.'

The chest of valor can be purchased at the nearby vendor. The medals are the results of the Scout's Raid quests. Combining these medals in the chest of valor produces the Soldier's Chest. On handing this in:

Captain Necin says 'Take this map and study it carefully. The mission we are preparing to embark upon will make your previous raids seem like child's play. Many friendly forces will need to help us to achieve our objectives. Two dozen soldiers as powerful as me to be exact. When you have selected and briefed the troops that will carry out the offensive, give me the map and I will lead the assault.'

He hand you a Map of Grimling Forest. Handing it back to Captain Necin will initiate a raid on two Grimling camps.

More info needed.

This quest is no longer available. Prior to the revamp of Acrylia Caverns in 2003, this was part of a series of quests which led towards eventually obtaining the key to Inner Acrylia.
Anyone know

How to beat the camp with clerics that hit for about 200, they con green. Another pops on top of it right after you kill it. The Soldiers the scout said you have to kill wont stop spawning.
RE: Anyone know
# Jun 06 2004 at 3:55 PM Rating: Decent
We had that *problem* too.
They seem to be only healers for the other mobs you will have to kill. We killed all the other grimlings and after some short period they camp was taken over by the thiefs => we won.
The downer was that there was no boss to kill => no loot.

That was after all a great deal of fun, due the fact that we killed on and on the clerics for over 50 minutes. That was a really great slauther! HARHAR...
his 2 quests are now like this:
# Dec 08 2003 at 5:45 PM Rating: Decent
One:

Captain Necin says 'Strength to you, Seidenglanz. Have you come to [aid us] in our fight against the vile Grimlings of this forest as they try to push forth and destroy us? You certainly look capable enough to do just that and I would hope that you are not just here to gawk while we fight a worthwhile fight for our very heritage.

You say: I am here to aid you

Captain Necin says 'Very good. It is good to know there is still honor among soldiers, even in these trying times. For now, we will be concentrating on the three camps nearest to the mines, between the mines and the town to the North. You will need to gather together three able bodied groups to venture forth for this mission. When you are [ready to go], inform me thusly and I will lead the way.'

You say: I am ready to go

Captain Necin says 'Alright, let's be on our way. Our target for this mission is the first camp we come to as we follow the river North. This is one of two pivotal points before we can cut the Grimlings in the mines off from those in the town. Make sure you have everyone with you, we'll be heading out in just a minute.'

After a minute he runs to the camp. You can follow him even without a SOW.

Captain Necin says 'We have arrived at our destination, and just in time to wreak havoc on the unsuspecting Grimling beasts that are about to meet their creator. You must note that they have a tower where they will be firing down upon you things you may not be expecting. Keep focused and watch out for any other officers that may decide to reinforce the camp mid-fight. When you are [ready to start], let me know and I will let you loose to absolve the Grimlings of their hold on this camp.'

You say: I am ready to start

Captain Necin says 'Take no prisoners! Attack!'
or
Captain Necin says 'Shed their blood until no Grimlings are left standing! Charge!'

After that he will leave the scene... LOL

You have to wipe out the camp, but every ~3minutes re-enforcements will spawn and after some time or after you have wiped all Grimlings from original camp wiped out (I am still unsure what driggered the main spawn) the *trap* spawns.

There spawned the boss Grimling with 5-6 Grimlings at the same time as the normal camp spawns.
At that time we were standing in the middle of the hole camp surrounded with ~16 angry Grimlings
and had to run. So I can not say anything about the loot. The boss will be around level 50 and the other Grimlings will be some what between 45 and 48.

-------------------------------------------------

Two:
Captain Necin says 'Strength to you, Seidenglanz. Have you come to [aid us] in our fight against the vile Grimlings of this forest as they try to push forth and destroy us? This is one of two pivotal points before we can cut the Grimlings in the mines off from those in the town. Make sure you have everyone with you, we'll be heading out in just a minute.'

After a minute he runs to the camp. You can follow him even without a SOW.

Captain Necin says 'This is it, the ninth camp and farthest camp to the North of the forest. Before you begin, you should understand that we are relying on you to rid this camp of its nefarious hosts so that we can move forth to the town. There is a defector among their ranks named Gelg who has information on the town that we must retrieve. Your primary focus is keeping Gelg alive at all costs. If he dies, the mission is a failure and we will have to try some time later. Watch out for any commanders that may join the fight, as they're sure to be looking to slay Gelg for his treachery. When you are [ready to fight], let me know and I will let you loose to save this traitor from the enemy's clutches.'

Your primary objective is to keep the traitor Gelg alive at all costs. Be aware of any officers that come looking to slay Gelg, and eliminate them before they have the chance. Good luck!

You say: I am ready to fight

Captain Necin says 'For victory! Charge!' (and goes off... LOL)

Gelg spawns instantly and is attacked by 6-8 Grimlings (level ~45-48).

The Grimlings here are a little harder as from the 8th camp, but you can pull Gelg a little away from the camp when he is attacking some grimlings that you pulled to you.
If no Grimling is in a very close range around him he will keep just standing there and the grimlings from the camp won't seek him.
So you can pull some Grimlings as you wish without pressure.
Around every ~3minutes 3 Grimling re-enforcements will spawn outside of the camp and running to the fire to wait there. The grimling of the camp itself will spawn too, but with the normal low spawning time.
After some time Nightknife Gresga (~level 50) will spawn along with the usual other two spawns.

He gave us: "copper medal of war", "charred bone ring" for everyone, "Arm of the Grimling High Commander", "Captured Grimling Documents II" and "Short Sword of the High Grimling"

We were one level 55 BST and one 54 Pala (both very good equipped + kei + temp) and it was hard (lay on hands was needed once).
REVAMPED ... New Quest
# Nov 04 2003 at 4:52 PM Rating: Decent
As of the change to quests in grimling forest this is the main war there now. The scouts no longer have quests. You must speak to Captain Necin. Then he will take you to a camp. There he will tell you your goal is to keep the named grimling alive. He will not spawn the named grimling till your group says I am READY TO FIGHT. This can not be done solo, she dies instantly. You must have good dps to complete this quest. Ihave yet to finish it. Hope this helps some. Good Luck

This quest can be done solo. I've done it solo many times. It's not easy, but it can be done. I am wearing a FT1 mask and carry a 75 mana EB ring that I got from this quest. I've let others loot the rest of the gear or just let it rot.
Necin's quest

Does anyone know if Captain Necin's quest can be restarted after he dies? Because now I don't have the map that he needs anymore from first set of raids with scout husman and etc and It would be a pain to have to start from there again.

Dropped off of 9th camp named spawn. This was a protect the Traitor camp. Our guys ended up attacking the traitor but we had a Necro mez it until the named spawned which conned DBlue to lvl 60 Ranger. At this point things were really getting hairy because of all the mobs swarming us, and two of our guys died, but not before we killed him. Dropped the mask, an Arm of the High Grimling, and some nerfy weapons along with a Captured Grimling Document of some sort.

Anyone know how to do the camp with clerics? Clerics keep popping again when killed and the soldiers keep spawning in fire.
Redone
# May 27 2003 at 7:46 AM Rating: Decent
These quests have been completely redone, as of the May (or April?) patches. They're now much easier to do with fewer people. Necin leads attacks on nine camps. Each will have a different objective (for example, kill the clerics, or make sure the Grimling Traitor survives). You no longer have to protect the kitty in all of them (thank Vah!) The Vah Shir now runs back to camp in most of the quests.
Also - very importantly - he doesn't need the map anymore. This means that you can do the quests as often as you need or want to. I wouldn't destroy it, but at least hold on to it.
Is it still working?

I got the map from the Capt. , but does this quest still work ? Has it been nerfed since the April patch? Or do I throw away the map the Capt gave me??

I tried this quest last night
Grp 1 - with Cpt
shm61; Mage57; Necro56; SK61; Rog59
Grp 2 - With Sgt
Dru60; War56; Mage55; Mnk53; Shm53

I was in Grp 1..tactics are easy enough .. mage took platform and sent pet / agro all 3 and killed em prity fast.
others ran into camp and took all the nearest mobs to the Cpt and we managed to keep him alive.

Grp 2.. (not 100% sure what happened) they tell me they covers the sgt and agro'ed all near him..however the sgt died.. we believe but a caster hidding behind/inside a hut.

I plan on doing this again ..but with more ppl at the Sgt, it seems his "village" is a little harder to cover on the first run in and the grim's are all over the place.

We just failed this with 10 level 50+ people. Mock us if you will, but as a pointer - stick to your NPC. Anything and everything that comes near him, you need someone getting the aggro for. None of us even came close to dieing, but Necin died. He doesn't have the hp to keep up. Don't go into this thinking it's the same old grouping style cuz it's not. EVERYONE in your group should be on a grimling getting their aggro. They're easy kills but there's tons of them. You see ANYTHING attacking your NPC, drop your fight and go to him. It can be pretty intense.

And, since there's no way of short-circuiting the quest anymore, thats a waste of 4 hours and 250pp.
Still broken?

Tried this on Povar tonight. Had a great turnout of folks to help. After taking both camps, the Captain declared that something had happened to the Sergeant and than vanished. The Sergeant meanwhile was safe in his camp, with about 10 people protecting him.

i have finish the 3 scout medal and want start the cptain quest BUT what drop i need to give him after the fight?
What to Expect
# Aug 03 2002 at 12:01 PM Rating: Decent
If someone tried to do the quest and failed, Captain Necin will not be up. I'm not sure of the spawn time on him, it seems to be 12 hours or more. However, if you successfully complete his mission, someone else can try to do their's as well right after.
Your party will need to split up for this one so be prepared. Which ever group goes with the other vah shir officer, go in there and be sure to get aggro from the casters before he runs in. Otherwise, they will nuke the snot out of him, dropping him within about 5 seconds of the charge. Do not kill them, as they will only respawn, just go in and hold aggro till he gets there. Even though the camp that the captain leads you to is bigger, I think the other npc you must protect at the first camp is a lot weaker, so plan accordingly. The captain didn't even get touched when we stormed that camp, but the other npc was nuked instantly. Hope this helps.
RE: What to Expect
# Aug 05 2002 at 12:26 PM Rating: Decent
It has been 8 days since I failed this quest with 6 people. I expected the spawn time to be 10 minutes or so, like the other quest givers. I have petitioned about 20 times on the Zebuxxoruk server, and have received one cheezy reply of we'll submit a bugreport... Don't you love that? Is the spawn bugged on my server, or does it just take 7 days for Captain Necin to respawn? If it is supposed to take 7 days, that is a rediculous bottleneck on an already very time consuming, although kewl, set of quests. Can I please get some any feedback including the spawn time that you notice on Captain Necin and what server you play on.

If it's true that the reward for all of these is that eventually you have to do a three-camp raid and kill the grimling high command, and if you fail you start all over at the three beginning raids, I would just do the general's challenge. You kill a bunch of named, get their parts, etc...but there are none of these silly camp raids, and if you die you don't have to start all over! Just do the general's challenge once and combine and get the cloak, then do it again to keep the medallion. Any comments?
RE: This quest
# Aug 03 2002 at 12:16 PM Rating: Decent
I believe this results in the Hero Medalion of the Shar Vahl, but I'm not certain as I failed this last night. I think you hand this off to the General to initiate the final battle. From what I hear, this is a fairly difficult battle that is on par with the 10th ring war.

Yes, you have to be 55+ to do it that way.
Raid Forces?
# May 21 2002 at 10:36 AM Rating: Decent
I was hoping that someone could post the class and level of the characters used to successfully complete this raid.

I have done the same for the scout raids in the Derrin's Raid discussion and would appreciate if someone could do this for Captain Necin's challenge.

Also, has anyone completed the next Vah Shir cloak? I have the Khati Sha Officer's Cloak, and I am curious as to what the next cloak will be.

Any and all help appcreciated.
RE: Raid Forces?

I have heard this is basically the same as the third but have 2 different camps to go to instead of 1
Raids
# May 04 2002 at 11:32 AM Rating: Good
Well, These raids are for Class quests, Epic part for BL, Hero of Shar Vahl, Quest lines and also for Key to Grimling Castle. First 3 Raids net Captured Grimling documents for Class Quests to combine with Garrison Cloak to become an Officer.
Also from the officer you take the body part and turn in to the Scout to end the war and receive the Medal to combine in the sold box to start the Captains raid. This splits up into a 2 camp raid and you must keep both npc's alive, They die ya go back to first 3 raids for more medals to start the raid again. Believe this raid will net a silver medal of Shar Vahl which starts the one Veterns challenge and this is a 3 camp raid which spawns the grimling high commander and hit parts turned in net the Medalion of the HEro of Shar Vahl which ya combine with cloak for promotion or turn in to the general for his challenge to get the Key to the Castle. Sad combining the Medalion with such nice stats but the resulting cloak can only be ubar hehe :^) So as it stands you could find yourself doing this several times for items for different things.
Parallel Quests?
# Apr 16 2002 at 10:52 AM Rating: Decent
Anyone know if there is a way to restart this quest if you happen to fail? Without having to redo all the battles for the medals again that is... This quest is actually a long chain quest begining with the Shar Vahl Citizenship quest. I have been doing this quest from the very begining...

So far my newbie cloak has upgraded from Khati Sha Apprentice cloak, Khati Sha Journeyman cloak, Khati Sha Garrison cloak, and currently hold the Khati Sha Garrison Officer cloak.

The stats from the Garrison Cloak are:

Khati Sha Garrison Cloak
Skill Mod 3% tailoring
AC9 STR4 STA6 WIS4 AGI2 HP30
BST Only

The stats from the Garrison Officer Cloak are:

Khati Sha Officer's Cloak
LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: BACK Mod: 3% Tailoring
AC: 12
STR: +8 DEX: +3 STA: +10 WIS: +8
AGI: +5 HP: +50 MANA: +50
WT: 5.0 Size: MEDIUM
Class: BST
Race: BAR TRL OGR IKS VAH

Evidently there are several quests given out by these guys that all run parallel to another quest. One of these is also for the begining of the Beastlord Epic as well.

# Feb 10 2003 at 11:00 PM Rating: Decent
I don't know if this is just the earlier raids or if they fixed it, but we couldn't get the scouts to leave the camps. People in the group aggro'd him a few times, and he was hitting them, but wouldn't budge from his spot in the middle of the camp. This happened with both Husman and Derrin, don't know if they've made this change with the other two. So the FD, while a good idea, unfortunately doesn't work here.
