(This is a long quest with a lot of TEMPORARY items involved to begin with...but it's a very fun quest with a really cool Roleplaying element...the Whisperlings! Who knows what other quests will get us "closer" to them, and be able to use their abilities.)

Tiamon Aroo is the Tailoring Merchant in the Building near the bard's camp fire in Shadeweaver's Thicket.

    You say, 'Hail, Tiamon Aroo'

Tiamon Aroo says 'Greetings _____, watch where you step for the [needle clawed hoppers] are just about everywhere!

You say, 'what needle clawed hoppers?'

Tiamon Aroo says 'Those wretched vermin swarm to our city and trade routes in search of the refuse left by careless travelers who pass through these parts. They are just about useless and their stench brings bile to my throat. I would have set out to poison the whole lot of them if it was not for their unique [claws].

    You say, 'what claws?'

Tiamon Aroo says 'The claws of the hoppers act as a [spirit anchor]. They are specialized in tearing into the fiber of the shadow beings that roam the thicket. I find these claws useful in [binding] the silk fashioned by the [shadeweavers].

    You say, 'what spirit anchor?'

Tiamon Aroo says 'A spirit can only materialize within our realm by binding themselves to an object that is a spirit anchor. Some bones and stones have such properties. A spirit anchor can also do the most damage to the material form of such spirits when used as a weapon. I use the claws of the hoppers as a sewing needle of sorts to [bind the silk] made by the [shadeweavers]. A standard sewing needle would only pass through the substance of the silk. The hopper claws can pierce through their ethereal fabric effectively.

(The previous part of this quest doesn't need to be done, but rather gives insight into what Groo McManus means by the "Spirit Anchor")

Groo McManus is in the White Building on the left following the road out of Shar Vahl into Shadeweavers Thicket. He's a Barbarian.
    You say, 'Hail, Groo McManus'

Groo McManus says 'Greetings adventure seeker. I have come from afar to study this strange thicket. The spirits are strong within this region, but they are secretive as well. I am willing to impart my wisdom to those who will aid me in my exploration. Are you [interested?]

    You say, 'I am interested'

Groo McManus says 'Very well then! Let us begin. First you must attune yourself with the nature of spirits. For this you must learn to find a spiritual anchor. Find such a thing within the crater that surrounds Shar Vahl and return it to me. Then we may continue. I cannot tell you more, but there is a Vah Shir who has the knowledge that you seek. Seek him out in this thicket to learn what you can.

Give GrooMcManus the "A Needle Thin Claw"

Groo McManus says 'Excellent! You have done well. I can sense that you are in tune with the spirits around you. Take this, for you will need it in your next task. When you are [ready] for your next lesson let me know.

    You gain experience!!

    You say, 'I am ready'

Groo McManus says 'You have learned a fraction of the nature of the spirit. To exist within our realm they must become a part of our realm by binding themselves within material. The hoplings claws have evolved to tear spirits from their material anchors. A disrupted anchor will normally send a spirit to the planes in which they belong, but sometimes the spirit becomes lost. This has happened within the crater that surrounds Shar Vahl. We must do what we can to [help] the lost spirit. The lost spirit had found the nearest anchor to take refuge in when its own anchor was destroyed. The spirit now lies trapped within the very claws of the hopling that had tried to destroy it. Will you help?

Groo McManus says 'Near the south bridge of Shar Vahl city, a mysterious rock formation hangs precariously within the crater. When you have arrived, you stand beneath the rock and call to the wind, speak the word 'Lumanes', be sure to clear all thoughts from your mind when doing so. If we are not too late, a kindred spirit will speak with you. Take your discoveries to my friend Shavra in the crater, she will know what to do.

(Again, doesn't need to be done, but who can say no to free experience?)

    Your Location is -852.56, 890.03, -343.91
You say, 'Hail, Dar Khura Shavra'

Dar Khura Shavra says 'Lo there wanderer. Something is amiss within the region, have you not felt it? I sense a [whisperling] nearby.

    You say, 'what whisperling?'

Dar Khura Shavra says 'A whisperling, who brings us dreams, you cannot see them. They do no harm, but I sense anger in them. They have made an enemy. If you are willing to aid us in our research, please seek Groo McManus in the shadeweavers thicket, he has some insight on these whisperlings.

The Whisperling can be called (not found, but called) under the glowing rock formation NEG580, POS560
    Sit and say "Lumanes"

    You say, 'Lumanes'

a whisperling speaks softly, 'Lumanes _____, Our cousin, a spirit of frost, is trapped. We may not intervene. Only one of flesh may aid us. Are you one [able to help]? '

You say, 'I am able to help'

a whisperling speaks softly, 'Then we thank you. We will lure it here. But beware, it uses our cousins strength to protect itself.'

    A frost covered hopling attacks

He has about 30 Hitpoints, hits for 1 damage 99% of the time, Burst of Flames (not often) for 4 damage
But, I couldn't do much more than 1 damage to him 90% of the time, and did maybe 3 and 6 the other 2 times I did do more than 1 damage. In other words, VERY easy fight.

You have slain a frost covered hopling!
    You gain experience!!
--You have looted a A Frosted Claw.--
    (A Frosted Claw - NO TRADE/TEMPORARY - Primary Piercing - DMG:2 DLY:25 SV COLD: +1)
    TEMPORARY!

(Note: The frost covered hopling can be summoned any time by saying "Lumanes" in that spot! It's basically a newbie Monster Generator! I got experience at 4, and with the easy fight, he can be killed over and over for experience. Hopefully Verant doesn't realize this and change it -=| )

Go back to Shavra (who is very close) and give her the "A Frosted Claw"

Dar Khura Shavra says 'Oh _____! This is a whisperling, and she is beautiful! You must find a way to free her of this anchor. Take her to Ragnar, he may know what to do. Let me put her in this bag to keep her safe for now.

Your faction standing with Guardians of Shar Vahl has been adjusted by 1.
    You gain experience!!

You get a "Frosted Bag" from her. It's a 0.0 NO TRADE object

Spiritist Ragnar is in the Var Shal Alchemy Shop west of the Bank

    You say, 'Hail, Spiritist Ragnar'

Spiritist Ragnar says 'Well hello... How may I help you?

Give the Frost Bag to Spirit Ragnar

Spiritist Ragnar says 'Eh? What have we here?'' Ragnar examines the frosted claw carefully. He closes his eyes and begins to chant while holding the claw cupped between his hands. As he opens his eyes he nods at you and begins to speak. ''You have done well to bring her here _____. This is a whisperling, her name is Siver. She is very young, so it is hard for me to understand her. From what I gather, she has an important task to fulfill, but I am still unsure what that task may be. Please take her with you for now, I think that is her wish. Perhaps Grawleh will be able to assist us further, and maybe even find a more suitable anchor for her. I think it would be wise to show her to him.

    You gain experience!!
You also get Claw of Frost.

    (Claw of Frost - NO TRADE/TEMPORARY - Primary Piercing - DMG:3 DLY:25 SV COLD: +1)
    TEMPORARY!

Elder Spiritist Grawleh examines the contents of the bag carefully. This is no ordinary spirit _____. It is a whisperling, a bringer of dreams. You are quite lucky, I think she will go with you. She will be able to protect you from cold magic. If you need more protection you can call on her to help you endure the cold. This is how the Dar Khura weave their spells, we ask the spirits for their aid. This scroll will show you how to call on her for her protection. You will also need to construct her a more suitable spirit anchor. This claw will not contain her much longer. Please hurry to Ragnar with the claw and a fresh [bloodling carapace]. It may buy us some time before she fades away.

    You gain experience!!
    He gives back "Siver's Claw"
    (Siver's Claw - NO TRADE/TEMPORARY - Primary Piercing - DMG:3 DLY:23 DEX:+1 SV COLD: +1)
    TEMPORARY!

You may also receive a minor spell.

    You say, 'what bloodling Carapace?'
(I may have done something wrong like cancelled the conversation, because he didn't answer about the carapaces, but they drop from "a Cht`Thk bloodling" in Shadeweaver's Thicket newbie area...you may want to collect 8 in total, you'll need 7 more later. You've been warned.)

Bring Spiritist Ragnar a "Bloodling Carapace" and the Claw of Frost.

Spiritist Ragnar says 'Well done _____, I hope it isnt too late.'' Ragnar begins to chant over the carapace and the claw, holding each in opposite hands. A soft light travels from the claw to the carapace as the claw turns to dust. Ragnar opens his eyes and begins to speak, ''It has worked, but all we have done is buy ourselves more time. While you were away, I have been speaking to Master Barkhem. He has a shield frame that can support these carapaces. You will need to craft such a shield by including this carapace and into the frame along with enough to fill each slot. You are doing quite well young _____, Siver has grown a little stronger. You can make use of her innate dexterity by weaving this spell.''

Spiritist Ragnar hands _____ a scroll before he continues to speak. ''When you have completed the construction of the shield, return it to me and I will strengthen the anchor.''

Your faction standing with Guardians of Shar Vahl got better.
    You gain experience!!

He gives you a Strengthen Scroll (bug?) and a "Frosted Carapace".
It's only a 0.0 NO TRADE item! You can actually pause at this part of the quest! (but why would you want to?)

Master Barkhem is in the Armory to the North of the Pool in front of the Palace
    (I believe his Loc is "202.18, -167.21, -187.62")

Master Barkhem tells you, 'That'll be 3 gold 2 silver 4 copper for the Carapace Shield Frame'.

Buy the Carapace Shield Frame (this quest makes me wonder what else can be put in this frame)

Now head to Shadeweavers and get ready for a long time of running around and killing Cht`Thk bloodlings. The carapace is a pretty uncommon(rare?) drop. This may take over an hour.

Place the "Frosted Carapace" in the Carapace Shield Frame along with 7 Bloodling Carapaces and combine. You'll get a "Dull Frostweavers Shield!"
(Dull Frostweavers Shield - AC 3 DEX: +1 SV COLD:+3 5.0 wt SHM BST)

Ragnar said he'd make the shield stronger when you brought it back to him, so do that. Give the Dull Frostweavers Shield to Spirit Ragnar back in the Alchemy Shop.

Spiritist Ragnar says 'Nicely done _____. This anchor should be sufficient to keep Siver bound to this realm for a while. She is strong enough to blind your enemies with a bright flash of light now, all you have to do is call on her spirit. I still cannot make complete sense of her thoughts, I think she is trying to tell me of another whisperling entrapped within the crater. Keep an eye open for the whisperling Scorpialis.

(Scorpialis is a weapon from the TailFang Quest. I don't know if he's just giving you info on a seperate quest, or if he wants you to finish that too)

Spiritist Ragnar says 'In the meantime, you can seek out a shield made of Xakra. Xakra made of the ethereal fabric of the spirit realm. I know the Shak Dratha within the thicket are weavers of this rare form of shadow silk. Such a shield can help us strengthen the anchor, making it easier for Siver to aid you. It will also improve her health greatly. She has been through a lot and is in rather poor condition as it stands now.
Your faction standing with Guardians of Shar Vahl got better.
    You gain experience!!
You also gained the stronger version of the Frostweavers Shield
    (Frostweavers Shield - AC:4 DEX+1 SVCOLD+4 MAGIC NO TRADE)

(This appears to be the next part of the quest, but is still unsolved from what I hear)

Need all dialogues (these are transcriptions), current faction hits, /loc of all mobs, solution to this quest!

I'm not a beastlord or a shaman but I just like to see new stuff=) After reading alot of posts and the quest I have a few thoughts... Has anyone tried to combine a carapace, shade silk swatch, and possibly the claw needle? Then if you do come up with anything like a shade lined carapace ya might want to get eight of them and make the shield.Another idea i had was on the elemental whisperlings....

    shield = ice
    amulet = fire
scorpialis = I believe is poison but someone said earth

The way I see it this is pretty mach a set. A wep, a shield, and a lucky charm. Also if it is poison instead of earth that might mean earth might still be out there.
What I'm tryin' ta get at is what if there is a whole whisperling suit..or something. Food for thought( so don't ignore odd noises or spell effect it might be a whisperling)

Anyone handed Ragnar Shade Silk, a swatch or any combination + the shield to activate the next steps in the quest?

i have just found this quest, and quite surprised. As for the shield it might be possible to make it from a shade patch. While hunting with my lowly BL i killed a Shak Dratha seeker. The corpse dropped two shade silk. Appearantly this is not the same a shadling silk as those give a thread when combined. To my surprise when combining both shade silks i received this small sahde silk patch. not knowing what it was used for i sold it for gold. ops. Anyways maybe using the shade patch and a shade stone that are dropped by the same mob we can create the shield

Just makin a quick correction on something you said. You said that you were suprised when you combined the two shade silks to recieve a small shade silk patch. First thing is that what you probably actually you recieved was a shade silk swatch. If you recieved anything else, then it was soem sort of bug and you need to report it to verant. As for using the swatch to make a shield, i would have to say that there is a very small chance that it would be used, due to the format of this quest.

I say this because all the other parts of the quest have been the kind where you only have to talk to NPCs and kill MOBs for loot. Also, the only combining done is in special containers that do not use tradeskills and cannot fail the combine. Since making swatches requires the tailoring tradeskill, it is illogical that it would be required since it is inconsistant with the style of the other quest.
    RE: Xakra shield
    # Jun 01 2002 at 2:08 PM Rating: Default
I think he's on to something. If you read the last known part of the quest, you will see that Xakra is a rare form of shadow silk that is weaven into objects.

Spiritist Ragnar says 'In the meantime, you can seek out a shield made of Xakra. Xakra made of the ethereal fabric of the spirit realm. I know the Shak Dratha within the thicket are weavers of this rare form of shadow silk.

I don't think the shield itself is just tailored though. I think the silk is used turn an existing shiend into the xakra shield.
    RE: Xakra shield
    # Jun 08 2002 at 8:59 PM Rating: Decent
    Perhaps i need to clarify:

I was saying that it is unlikely that a swatch would be used since it uses the tailoring skill to make them. The part earlier in the quest with the carapaces used no tradeskill to make.

This quest doesn't seem to be meant to encourage players to work on tradeskills, unlike the "Shawl Quest" which requires all tradeskills, or the Shar Vahl progressive taioring quest, or any of the class specific ladder quests.

If we need to collect silk for this quest, we will most likely *not* have to combine it in any container that requires tailoring or any other tradeskill. If it is combined, it will be in a non tradeskill container like the shield frame used earlier in the quest.

    Quote:
"I think he's on to something. If you read the last known part of the quest, you will see that Xakra is a rare form of shadow silk that is weaven into objects.

Spiritist Ragnar says 'In the meantime, you can seek out a shield made of Xakra. Xakra made of the ethereal fabric of the spirit realm. I know the Shak Dratha within the thicket are weavers of this rare form of shadow silk.'"

Now my thoughts on this (like that of many others) is that since he specifically states that the Shak Dratha weave the silk, Verant is very likely hinting that a Shak Dratha will make something from the silk (in it's original state) rather than us. If the sentence had no signifigance, it seems unlikely that it would be inclued since it doesn't seem to be mere digression.

    That's all for now.
    perhaps...

this is frustrating... i come on-line hoping to get the next part in the quest and the infinite knowlage of the internet serves to be no help at all... perhaps someone could bribe a GM and get the answer ;) (although you would probably need to use real money)... problem is that ive been spending the last 5 days killing shak dratha for shade silk. well, ill see if i cant get my faction up and take a look-see.

Since this quest refers to Scorpialis, could doing that quest be messing with this one?

I'm still kinda new to the game and not completly sure on how the quest system works. But if this was really all part of one big quest, could it be possible that doing a later part of it could prevent previous parts of it from being done?

No, I currently have the "finished" Frostwaver's Shield and almost have the Dull Frostweaver"s shield, all i need is 3 more carapaces....

Now that shade silk is actually suppoed to drop now, ill try to see if that is what is needed to make the Xakra Shield.....Im thinking with the latest Shawl quest up, that they may be doing the same thing with the shield quest....you can only get so far, then wait till a patch brings the next step....

Ok. i sent up my mage and used see invis, but it was to no avail. This makes sense, however due to what is said by Dar Khura Shavra in the pit.

"Dar Khura Shavra says 'A whisperling, who brings us dreams, you cannot see them. They do no harm, but I sense anger in them. They have made an enemy. If you are willing to aid us in our research, please seek Groo McManus in the shadeweavers thicket, he has some insight on these whisperlings."

Specifically where Dar Khura Shavra says you cannot see them. Therefore you aren't supposted to be able to see them no matter what. I was, however, able to detirmine that "whisper" is quite small. I cast a non harmfull spell on it so i could see the size of the spell effect (since it is proportional to the target). It was very small. the whole spell effect fit inside the sticks of the "fire."

I also took my character with the shield and tested that theory. All it did was take the shield and did not give it back or give any response whatsoever. I also tried hailing it in many different languages. None of these got a response either. I am currently working on gaining faction with the shak drathka by clearing out the various rooms (in the catacombs that lead to the padual caverns) of all gor taku. Wish me luck.
One thing i forgot to mention
    # May 06 2002 at 1:33 AM Rating: Decent
If any of you ever need to see inviz on luclin, there is an item that drops in the padual caverns off the shrooms called sensate renshi eye (or something like that) which had the right-click effect see invisible. They have one charge each, btw.

    /sigh
/flame off (just trying to get the facts)

OK, I have spent some time trying to make heads or tails out of your two posts, O One Who Thagt Up the Teeth Thing, and I have gotten nowhere. The only things I feel fairly certain of are:

    A) "thos teeth you get of the larva in the pit" = Xakra Tooth
    B) "claw needils as the tool" = Claw Needle from Aroo

That's about it. What remains to be seen is:

    1. "combind with the silk fter its had somthing done to it with the condencd stuff": something done to the silk or the tooth? And what is done? Are you talking about silk thread or cord or something else altogether? I could not find any recipes documented that combined either a tooth or silk with anything condensed.
    2. "the condencd stuff" = Chunk of Condensed Shadow? Just guessing here, there are several items that are condensed, and none of them involved in this quest yet that I know of. The condensed shadow is the only one I know of that drops in the area.
    3. "fire talisman" = "the fire whisper" = whisper, the invisible mob in the fire by the fire dancers?
    4. Most importantly, what are we supposed to make of "if thers a frost sheild and the fire whisper well tri puting 2 and 2 together"? If you have a new recipe or sequence of events that works, why don't you spit it out instead of just saying "youl be surprizd"?

If you want to post here as if you were typing during melee, complete with freelance abbreviations and typos in a single run-on sentence, that is your prerogative. But if you've got something to say, would you say it already?

I am very interested in the progress of this quest's research, and very interested in hearing about anything you may have discovered about it. I would even be willing to throw my shield in the fire if I had some significant reason to think that would be helpful. But that reason is lacking in your two posts "could the teeth be part of it?" and this one.

I believe perhaps The Xakra Shield is crafted through black smithing... I do not have enough blacksmithing skill to attempt any combinations.. but perhaps try using a known shield recipe with the "condensed shadow" and see if it makes a shield... I only have one character oon luclin and that is my level 10 BEast Lord, I am very immpressed by this quest and very Intrigued also... By the way did anyone catch what the shaman says he tells you about the Scorpian dagger, being another whisperling.. perhaps you bring tail to the guard in the pit instead of the dagger.. or maybe the dagger to guard in the pit.. has anyone tried either or?

I saw some questions about the Gor Taku/Shak Dratha Smiths. I play a monk on the Luclin server and a wizard friend of mine and I went through the caves a few weeks after Luclin went live because my friend likes to adventure and had heard of the smith and bartender in the caves down there. Using sneak I was unable to buy from either the Shak Dratha bartender or the blacksmith, but killing them spawns the other race, same profession type mob. I was able to sneak and buy from the Gor Taku Smith and Bartender. This has nothing to do with faction, the Shak Dratha versions do not sell anything, right clicking on them was the same as /con, while right clicking on the Gor Taku when I was not sneaking didn't return anything, and while sneaking brought up the vendor menu.

There was nothing of note on the smith, a few weapons and possibly armor, but nothing that jumped out. All weapon names were in the Gor Taku language, which might appeal to people looking to have something random to carry around. The Bartender also had little of interest; a few odd drinks and some food... the most notable was a hearty 0.2 weight "Holpa Mlech" looks like a chicken pot pie, but as a monk I noticed because of the excellent return for such a low weight.

Other than that, I don't think there was anything that really applied to this quest, though to tell the truth, I wasn't specifically looking for anything. I would love for someone else who has been working on this series take a look at what the two vendors have to offer, just be sure they are the right race.

A rogue and I were at the shadeweaver merchants selling after a very successful camp in Paludal. The rogue was dropping her copper by the fire where the dancers/drums are. I don't know why she was dropping her copper 30 feet from the bank, I didn't ask. Anyway, as she is attempting to drop the copper on the ground by the fire, a Trade screen comes up. She had discovered that there is an invisible mob named "whisper" IN THE FIRE of the firedancers. If you walk up to the fire and hand it a copper, you will see for yourself. No one was handy to cast see invis, so I do not know what kind of creature it is.

Conned yellow to me at 18. I tried hailing it, saying "scorpialis" "lumanes" "whisper," but no response. I ran around to every staionary NPC in that area except the banker, hailed them and asked about whisper, but nothing there either.

I handed my Scorpialis to whisper, who took it and did nothing more. I spent an hour back in the pit getting another one. :P

I will send what pic I have to Illia. If someone reads this and has capacity to see invis, check it out and see if you do any better.

This has got to be related, right?

That is interesting I will have to check it out. I dare someone to give it the shield, since it eats stuff. Since its right near the bank maybe ill use it as a trash can.

I thought about giving it the shield, but I spent too much time hunting bloodlings and running around with no rent objects to do that over again.

I heard from Illia today regarding my submission about whisper. She tells me that there are invisible mobs in many zones whose sole purpose is to emote something when people pass by, and she thinks whisper sounds like one of those. Perhaps walking by whisper in the fire is what starts the drums. But with the name, I can't entirely shake myself of the possibility that it has to do with this quest.

I went back to Ragnar and asked him about whisper, no luck.

I'm not going to give it my shield, but I might take a whack at it, maybe with Scorpialis.

The key to the next part of this quest had got to be the Vah Shir in the thicket that Groo mentions. The western part of Shadeweaver Thicket is where the thicket is - or so I'm told, I am not familiar with that side yet. Has anyone seen a lone loitering Vah Shir on the western side of Shadeweaver?

in my attempt to figure WTF was going on with this quest, i got a second shield (have 2 in bank now). not sure if they were lore but if not, i can just turn the second one into the guy to get the upgraded one again. I'll let everyone know how things turn out. I'll also send my mage up to luclin and find out what the thing looks like when ya got see inviz on. i will post a link to a screenshot of it which will reside on my website once i've done all of this. Keep working at it people. we'll get it eventually.

I attemtped to melee with whisper. I couldn't hit it, my warder wouldn't attack it, and it never attempted to strike back, which is about what I would expect if Illia was right. Probably a dead end.

You are "supposed" to get the spell scroll Flash of Light (blinds the enemy for a couple of seconds) but I think this is bugged, cause I got some other random spell....

    Xakra Shield

Although i agree that the Blacksmith probably has a part to play, i have a problem with the faction option. Having read a lot of posts, it seems that raising faction with the shak dratha is very difficult. If this is the case it might be many levels until you can get to talk to the blacksmith. Given the Frostweaver's shield is essentially a newbie no drop item, i cant imagine that at lvl 30 many people will still have it tucked away, waiting to complete the quest.

On a more constructive note, has anyone tried to trade with the Smith when they were indifferent? Maybe someone in tree or wolf form.

It says at eqatlas.com that there is a Shak Dratha shadeweaver, and a Gor Taku blacksmith. Is it the shadeweaver they mean? Or could the Gor Taku smith possibly be involved, since it is a shield the quest is talking about.

There is a Shak Dratha Smith. As a 10th BL i used sneak to get into the cave. Tried to trade with him whilst sneaking but of course didnt work.

Try it with the Gor Taku version. The Shak Dratha smith isn't a vendor, the Gor Taku one is.

Hey all, wondered if any of you thought this was related to the 'xakra shield' piece of this quest. I was in the armor shop, out in front and to the left of the inner castle gates, and one of the merchants had what was called a Bloodling Carapace Plate. Do you think these could be dropped into another Carapace frame, along with a combination of maybe Bloodbulk carapaces? just rambling, but I hadn't seen anyone mention the plate carapace and I wanted to bring it up. Wieght is 5 for the record, dont know if that is more or less than a regular Bloodling carapace.

Saw something on a site refering to Sivar's Talisman. Has a lot of + modifiers across the board, but each maxes at about +4. They mention Sivar above, maybe this is one of the end rewards.

I cant remember who, but didnt one of the NPC's say that someone deep in the thicket would teach us more about whisperlings???

Well anyway, on that note, I ran around the east side of the zone and found a high elf at neg400 neg 2570. I tried asking him about whisperlings and Siver and Scorpialis and all and got no reply. However, he does have a quest of his own for you to deliver something to someone. I never completed that.

My bst is still only lvl 14, so I haven't been to the west side but once when i got chased right back out. ) So my question is has anyone wondered around that side and found anyone standing around that might be the person deep in the thicket that we are looking for?

I sent a pic of Elefan to Illia for posting, I couldn't get him to talk to me. Do you have the conversation logged?

In Butcherblock, there are carapaces that are used for dwarven quest armor. They have to be pristine. I noticed that the Swarmers which are larger versions of the bloodlings also drop carapaces but are mostly cracked (like the ones in BB).

I think there is a possibility that someone could combine those into another shield frame, perhaps half as many? (being larger)

Also I still like the idea of silk and hopper hides.

If the GM said the quest wasn't broken, and the shield didn't drop, then I think thats the truth. If it wasn't the GM (I think) would have remained silent. The solution is there, we just have to solve it. I think the answer is build faction with the Shak Dratha and find out from either thier shadowweaver or their smith, or both.

Of course, what do I know, I've played my kitty beastmistress for exactly three days, but this is really starting to bug me.

Post Note: I confirmed last night that the swarmers DO drop a pristine carapace. Could someone who is a smith try making a shield with one of them, the anvil and hammer from the smith quest, a flask of water (or even crystal clear water from brewer's quest) and a shield mold?

It seems that scorpialis would be needed to kill the frosthopper, and may not be needed for anything else. Could be used later, but may only have been mentioned to get newbies a magical weapon. Just a thought.

Has anyone tried to combine chunks of condenced shadow in the sheild frame (possibly adding sheild)?
