Arbogast and Miller spawn in the Inn near the bank on level 1 of Katta.

    You say, 'Hail, Arbogast'

Arbogast says 'Hello there ______, do you come seeking the truth?'

You say, 'I seek the truth.'

Arbogast says 'The truth is a precarious thing, twisted and torn by those that would deceive for their own nefarious purposes. That is why there are people like me to guide the ignorant masses that know no better than to believe that which they are told.'

Miller says 'Yeah, you tell em Arbogast! I bet this one doesn't even know what's going on right under his nose in this here city. Like for example, you probably don't even know the truth about about his importantness Phenic Dionicas do you?'

You say, 'Who is Phenic Dionicas?'

Arbogast says 'He that battles what he truly is only truly battles himself. Phenic Dionicas for years has made quite a show of his war on the Vampyres of Tenebrous. This misdirection of truth serves only to keep people from discovering that he himself is a foul demon of the night. Miller and I, for our singular vision of that which is true, are not well liked in this city and so cannot obtain proof for your disbelieving eyes.'

    You say, 'What proof?'

Arbogast says 'You wish to see the truth for yourself? That is good, you will be taking your first step down a winding road to the only fulfillment this existence has to offer: enlightenment. Take this flask of water, I have blessed it such that it will singe the skin of the unholy. Go to Phenic Dionicas and give it to him, then you will see... you will see.'

Miller says 'Yeah, splash it right in his unliving face!'

You get "Arbogast's Holy Water." Go to Phenic in the main government building, 2nd floor, left going up the steps, and give him the water.

Phenic Dionicas looks at you and smiles despite the fact that you have splashed water all over him - he does not appear to be burning at all. 'Oh, excuse me. You seem to have spilled your water, here have some of mine my friend. Good day to you, ______,' he says.

You get "Phenic's Water." Return to Arbogast and give it to him.

Arbogast says 'He simply gave this to you? Cunning indeed for him to cover his weakness so thoroughly - he must have powerful protective enchantments in place, no doubt put in place by his good friend and associate, Tsaph Katta!'

Your faction standing with The Truth got better.
    You gain experience!!

You get a "Silver Wrapping Paper" container.

You say, 'Who is Tsaph Katta?'

Arbogast says 'When you fake your death to discredit another you only discredit yourself when another sees your death was faked. Yes, you heard me correctly, Tsaph Katta lives on here in this city, can you guess who it is he pretends to be?'

Miller says 'Ooh! I know, I know! Nathyn Illuminious!!!'

Arbogast says 'Yes, yes, I know you know... very good Miller.'

Miller beams a smile your way.

Go get "Memoirs of Nathyn Illuminious" from behind the locked door in his castle on the table. Combine it in the Silver Wrapping Paper and return the resulting "A Silver Wrapped Book" to Arbogast.

Arbogast says, 'Ahh, you have retrieved the memoirs, let me see.' Arbogast opens the book and starts flipping through pages, 'Yes here, you... no, wait it must be back... hrmmm, maybe he... but it must... Well, that was pretty clever of old Tsaph Katta, removing any record of who he truly is- probably did it to cover up the fact that Norrath does not really exist.'

Your faction standing with The Truth got better.
    You gain experience!!

    You say, 'Norrath does exist.'

Arbogast says 'You are beginning to see the truest truths as the only true truths now, are you not? That large blue orb that hangs in the Luclin sky from time to time is nothing more than an overgrown comet. What appear to be land masses and other geological features are in actuality powerful illusions cast upon the comet by Tsaph Katta himself so that panic does not spread amongst the ignorant masses. I am not one to spread conjecture, but it is possible that Katta's astronomers have discovered that the comet is hurtling slowly toward Luclin and will destroy all life on the planet, so you can see why he would want to keep the truth about the [Exodus] from his journal.'

    You say, 'What Exodus?'

Arbogast says 'The Exodus is the single biggest lie propagated onto the people of Katta Castellum in the known history of the intelligent races. Hogwash I tell you.'

Miller says 'A bloody, boldfaced lie!'

Arbogast says 'A story told to children. Tsaph Katta wove together a tale of Seru trying to kill him on the fantasy world of "Norrath" and how the entire combine fled here to escape from him... a wheel of lies, do you see how they interconnect? Why, I'll bet that even in Shadowhaven, the very site of this alleged "Exodus" and home to one of the grandest libraries you will ever see, not a single shred of reliable evidence regarding such an event could be found. HA! You bring me a book on this "Exodus" and Miller here will eat his hat! Especially if the book is wrapped in that gold paper I gave you...'

You get a "Gold Wrapping Paper" container. At this point you go to ShadowHaven to the Library and find Beriol, or just skip and go to Rianna.

Beriol Talorakoir says 'Hail ______. And good day to you. What brings you to my quarters today? Do you wish to learn more about the [magic] that we study in our hallowed section of the Shadowhaven?

You say, 'Do you know of Exodus?'

Beriol Talorakoir says 'Ahh, the event that started it all it was the strife between Seru and Tsaph Katta that ultimately brought us here to Luclin. Those must have been interesting times but, being over twenty generations Luclin born, I could only guess. One of these days I would like to read up on the subject, but what little we do have about it is always checked out. If that's what you came looking for, good luck - check with Rianna, she is usually up on those things.'

Go to Rianna Birchard, to the right of Beriol by the wall.

    You say, 'Hail, Rianna Birchard'

Rianna Birchard turns to you and smiles brightly, 'Hello, ______. Lots of work to be done - books to shelve, lessons to learn... I know it sounds a bit ridiculous, but I feel so at home here.'

You say, 'Do you know of Exodus?'

Rianna Birchard says 'Wow, what an interesting subject - almost impossible to gather hard evidence on, even for me. It seems that everyone was so taken off guard by the sudden change of scenery that no one bothered to keep any written record of the time. First they had to figure out where they were and once they did there was so much disagreement as to what they should be doing - try to get home, stay where they were and settle in or put some distance between them and Seru should he and his people try to follow, which, of course they did. All this lead to the formations of three of the four major cities here on Luclin, all with... oh listen to me go on, sorry. We have only one book on the subject, but Peqi borrowed it just the other day.'

    You say, 'Where is Peqi?'

Rianna Birchard frowns a bit for the first time this conversation, 'Peqi... Let me tell you, I like just about everyone but if that little gnome never found his way back to this library I wouldn't be too disappointed.'

The book on the Exodus comes off Peqi Biato, who spawns in Shadow Haven in the buildings near the entrance to the casters' guild. Combine this book in the gold paper Arbogast gives you and return the resulting "A Gold Wrapped Book" to him.

Arbogast says 'Ahhh, excellent... I am glad to see your interest piqued. It is the truth that will liberate the masses when the masses fail to liberate the truth. To continue to divine and demystify the truth from the mistruth, I employ a powerful component known to the Akheva as 'Akuel xi ans Vius' which translated means 'Thing that tells Truth.''

Yavik Teralin says 'It translates to 'Gift of the Dark' you fool!'

Arbogast says 'Oh, the foolish and naive, they are the salt of the land... anyhow, bring me two of these wrapped in the black paper you have and I shall reward you, my new ally of truth, with a cherished robe that was given us by Seru himself. Isn't that right Miller? Miller...'

You receive "Black Wrapping Paper." The Akuel xi ans Vius are tradeable, but TEMPORARY, and do drop in Akheva. Combine 2 unstacked in the black paper Arbogast gives you and return the resulting "A Black Wrapped Item" to him.

Arbogast says 'Oh, would you look at that?'

Miller looks a bit distressed and says to Arbogast, 'You said he would die getting these and we could keep...'
Arbogast silences Miller with a kick under the table and smiles broadly at you, 'Well done and my very sincere thanks to you. The cloak is in the bank, Miller and I each hold a piece of it. We will go get it for you now.' Miller and Arbogast lean in close to each other and discuss this in whispers for a moment before getting up and heading out, Miller looking most dejected.

Arbogast says 'Right then, let's get going Miller.'

Miller and Arbogast do their business with the bank, Miller retrieving a heavy brown cloak and Arbogast a beautiful golden clasp. They look up at each other, unable to bear the thought of actually parting with their treasures when Arbogast says, 'You know what? I think we'll keep them. Thanks for your help, don't be a stranger. Come now Miller, let's not be a bother.' With that, they both tear off out the door.

    Miller says 'Wait for me!'

You will have to kill both Miller and Arbogast. Miller is approximately a level 47 warrior, Arbogast a level 49 cleric. Miller drops a Heavy Drape, as well as 2 NO TRADE/TEMPORARY swords, Arbogast the clasp (called "Ornate Carcanet"), a NO TRADE shimmering mace (Akheva Bane, +6 wis, 11/24, I believe). Both also drop a piece of Baleen Plate. Place the clasp in the drape, hit combine, and lo and behold! A Cloak of Truth.

Ok, these are no rent, but tradeable. One post says they drop off "XI" mobs in the caverns. Does anyone know if they drop off the XI mobs in Maidens Eye as well? I know they drop swirling stones or something like that which are no rent, but I don't think they are the same. If not, does anyone know a good place to setup a camp for these?

These drop semi-commonly off The Protector. He paths through the first room and sometimes down the hall towards entrance. I had the misfortune of getting the norent stone and had to log before getting the second stone. Luckily I remembered that a norent item left on a corpse will not decay! So I was forced to kill myself ( received a rezz! whew! ) to save my stone until another day!

Make a duel corpse... have some one kill you in a duel (no dots just in case) and leave the no rent items on your corpse. No need for a res after that.

They look like a black pearl and they do not drop in Maidens Eye. Go into Akheva, any of the shade-type mobs can drop it commonly(although not guaranteed, about 1 in 2-3 drop one.)
Cheezy way to get the book out of the mansion
    # Mar 15 2002 at 2:49 PM Rating: Decent
ok, my first trip into the vamp mansion, I got hit with a stun that really screwed me up. This was after spending an hour trying to get a rogue with a high enough lockpick to pull it off. The book itself is NOT the big book in the middle of the desk, but rather a smaller book, sitting off to the side.

So here's what we did. my group went in with a 52 warrior with 100% MR to keep the vamp busy, and two druids. I went in the door first, grabbed the book, then we held our ground while the druids hit the EVAC. no kidding it worked, nobody died and I got the book. After **** we thought maybe we could have taken the vamp. he was blue to me at 47, but I think this is one of those cases where it's better NOT to spend a lot of time in a brawl. definately lends itself to a snatch n grab operation.

Also, we came up with an idea for how to do the COT repeatedly....one person takes the faction hit at the end. then every time your guild wants to do that quest, that one person comes back, takes the faction hit, then sits on the corpse untill it switches to free lewt so other peeps can get the book. That way only one person in your guild takes the faction hit, and you can do the quest over and over and over again. Best way I can think of to do this is to set up two groups. one with a druid being the main attack group the second as the finishing group with people who have taken the faction hit, or who don't care about the faction hit....when the main damage group gets miller and arbo down to "run away run away" mode, they port out, and the finishing group swings the final blow. If the druid is on his toes, it should work

Anyone know how or where to get the key to Nathyn's door in the mansion? Do you find it, or is that yet another quest? Also, if it is a quest, Nathyn is dubious to me, so what is best way to raise faction?

How could I do to finish this quest ?

I didn't have faction with Rianna either, so I skipped talking to her and went straight to killing Pequi. I killed him, got the book, and am now working on getting the Akuel xi ans Vius.

    Peqi, the final battle
    # Mar 06 2002 at 9:10 PM Rating: Excellent
Info on Peqi is as follows:
If you head toward the castersguild in the northern part of the zone there is a bridge you must go over. Just before that bridge you make a left between some buildings. Go in the second door on your right. You will know you are in the right room if there is a bed to the left and a flowerpot on the windowsill behind the door. Camp your soon to be bored butt on the bed and wait for him to spawn just to the left and in front of the flower pot. I can tell you for sure that he is not a timed spawn. I saw 4 spawns in a row 1 was close to 18 hours, 1 was close to 24 hours, the next was a little more than 23 hours and the last was exactly 22 hours 57 minutes by logs. So for the most part it seems it will spawn at least once a day but who knows if it can skip a spawn.
As a 56 druid he was a piece of cake to just nuke away on, his nukes barely hit me if at all and he meleed for around 130 in between casts which wasnt very often. Standing toe to toe with buffs on I was at half health when he died.

As for Miller and Arbogasts final battle. I do not recommend trying to solo them as a 56 or lower druid. Both of them resisted my roots and epic snare a lot. Miller, the warrior hits hard and fast 200+ hits. Arbogast, the cleric smited the hell out of me. I was bound in grimling when I died but I was able to run back, rebind in katta and attack them again since they were still armed. Although dying is not the preferred method of regaining mana, it helped... seven deaths later they were dead and i had my cloak. Thank god for 96% rezzes. A half blue lost for this nice cloak is worth it in my opinion.

Just for information, each time you *complete* the quest (ie. kill Argo and Miller) you lose enuf faction to lower yourself by one rating (ie, from Indifferent to Apprehensive, Apprehensive to Dubious, etc.) So even a sneaker is kinda limited in how many times you can do this quest.

I've tried doing the initial stages of the quest over and over, and the faction increase from that must me minute because I've yet to see a positive change.

Ok, the mansion, is that considered the government building or what building is the government building on EqAtlas map?

And arbogast and miller, they spawn where? in the inn near the bank, would that be considered the brewing shop next door?

One last thing off the subject, Where do i buy Mage spells in Katta? i cant seem to find where, it says i can somewhere?

Any info would be of help, Thnx in advance.
    RE: info needed
    # Feb 25 2002 at 10:21 PM Rating: Decent
Mansion is where the locked door is that you have to have picked. The government building is #2 on EQAtlas Map. Take a right at the top of the stairs, not a left. Arbogast and Miller spawn in the brewing shop, take a right when you open the door, they spawn at the table in the corner.

One last thing, the last step where you camp the NO RENT item in akheva has been a real pain. =(

    FINAL BATTLE???
    # Feb 21 2002 at 4:37 PM Rating: Default
    All of these posts are about Peqi......has anyone gotten past him, and past the Akheva Ruins stones...{ BTW: The Protector drops these at a random rate...my group killed it 5 times over 6 hours to get two stones. So, I have the stones and combined them...which does create a new rentable item...}
I wanna go to Katta and kick Arbogasts butt, but I see no information on any website concerning this final battle except one persons post about single pulling them once they return to their posts in the Inn. What I NEED to know (please someone help me :) ) is: Does a group killing them aggro anything other than Arbo and Miller?? There are roaming guards and the Inn folk and the people at the bank...am I just in for A & M or are other mobs going to come in? I mean...do AE spells effect the guards or anything else in the courtyard....or is it just you, your group, and these two clowns......anyone got a clue???

Thanks for anyones help...I really appreciate it.

Peqi I've been told is a random 72 hour spawn. I didnt camp him, instead I had my lowbie druid track him whenever I was in the area. Three weeks straight no pops. Then one night, sunday night at 4am MST, he was up. Problem was no one on my friends list or Guild was up, I had to solo him. His best nuke hits for around 550, and he punches for 100's. I had full cleric buffs to start. I pulled with nuke, rooted, and continued to nuke, until oom, at which point his health was still 60%. What I did was run around the corner of the building so he couldnt see me, he was rooted, and I med'd. After 40 min of running around rooting and trying to med I finally got enough mana to get him down to 10%, I had to melee him the rest of the way. The guards DID NOT argo. Which was nice. Yes clerics can solo, it is just difficult.

    Pequi Spawn Rate
    # Feb 10 2002 at 3:18 AM Rating: Decent
Have reason to believe spawn rate is 40 hours. Guildie killed him at around 7:30PM Thursday night. Hoping the spawn rate was 40 hours I got up early saturday and luckly was able to grab the camp. Sure enough at about 10:30 AM he popped. Maybe the spawn rate is random and sometimes it is 40 sometime 60 or something else, but at least this time it was 40 hours. I may just have gotten lucky though.

I can't stand long camps, so I bind and occassionally pop in and see if mob is up.

Gated to Pequi's room and there he was! Player who had been camping him had given up and logged. So I was able to kill Pequi with no camp time, just a few days of gating in to see if anything was happening.

I logged on last weekend .. and camped him a total 27.5 hours, I was about to log off and give up, thinking that this is nerfed and I won't get it done. I hate long camps!! I also did /petition 1 hour prior, not sure if this helped but gave VI feedback of what I thought of the nerf. But as I said about to log off and Peqi spawned. Happily killed the bugger with a lv 55 wizard. He's around lv 45-50 as far as I can tell.

Maybe VI made his spawn longer so it didn't become an item so easily made available .. only for hardcore gamers that can spend the time and resell this back to other ppl at 20k grrr..

Tactic: I casted on him to get aggro, I had over 110MR so resisted his force shock nicely. Kept him chain stunned and the wizard nuked him down.

    # Feb 06 2002 at 3:10 PM Rating: Decent
Well I am all but done with this quest, and because I kept coming here to the boards hoping I would find out more information about the details surrounding its completion I will give you what I know based on my experience with it.

I think everyone has the spawn location of Peqi by now, but be aware that he may not spawn right on that spot, in fact the darn gnome spawned right on top of where I was sitting, as I was facing the other side of the room :) I don't think he is on a 12 hour timer anymore, in fact I'm relatively sure it's 72+ hours.

Regarding the items and the containers you get, don't forget to COMBINE before you hand them in. Also, a handy note, after you combine they are no longer containers and you can store them inside your backpack or box or whatever.

For those having troubles with the drops in Akheva, it's my understanding that they drop off of one of the "Xi" (I forget the full name) type cloaked mobs. I personally did not hunt these mobs, I was fortunate enough to be in the zone asking very politely in OOC if I might pay for two pieces needed for a quest while there happened to be an Uber guild sweeping through. A very nice gent delivered them to me, and I slipped him a few stacks of peri's to repay his kindness.

If you cannot hunt these yourself I would recommend sitting at the ent to the zone around Friday or Saturday nights when there is usually an overabundance of people hunting there...and asking as I did.

Does anyone happen to know if those no rent swords are used in another quest?

Lastly, I do have a question. I am concerned about these faction hits and being able to gain the forces I need to take out Arob and Miller. I certainly don't want to ruin the quest for anyone willing to help me so I pose you all this question. If I have a willing helper go through the first two turn-in's, will that be enough to balance their faction if they assist me with Arbo and Miller so that they can continue their own quest afterwards?

    Thanks much :)

Only problem with this item is that it is not no drop. I intend on doing this quest so I can use this item for myself and wish anyone else who intends on doing the same the best of luck. But there are many lifeless losers in the game that will camp Peqi non stop then sell this item in EC for 20k or on EBay for $50.00. WTF should i have to compete with them?

From my experience with this quest its a one shot deal i have done the quest once and now he wont let me start it again. Unless you can gain faction with the Truth you wont be farming these i think VI intended it like this.
