You say: Hail Legionaire Delaran

Legionaire Delaran says: Well met (you). Are you the new recruit that was sent to me to help exterminate the (Zelniaks) that attack our guards and caravans.

You say: What are Zelniaks?

Legionaire Delaran says: Weren't you briefed on this already? The zelniaks are highly aggressive scaled creature with a large mane of fur that runs down the length of thier back. They are a constant problem for the gaurds and caracans that used travel in (Dawnshroud).

You say: What is the Dawnshroud?

Legionaire Delaran says: Are you new here or something? The Dawnshroud Peaks are a range of mountains lush in vegetation and water. We used to utilize this area as a trade route to Shadow Haven. The carvans that would travel through were to often attacked by roaming Zelniaks. I thought you were the one that was sent to me to (help lower) the amount of Zelniaks in the area. So the trade route could be reestablished.

You say: I will help lower.

Legionaire Delaran says: How ambitious of you to help the mighty warriors of the Hand. If you choose to serve the Seru bring me back four Zelniak Meat. I will reward you for you time in the field.

Your reward is some decent money.

Faction Hit from this quest:

Your standing with the Citizen of Seru got better
Your standing with the Hand of Seru got better
Your standing with the Heart of Seru got better
Your standing with the Eye of Seru got better
Your standing with the Shoulder fo Seru got better
Your standing with the Katta Castellum Citizens got worse.

After you hand him the meat, Legionnaire Delaren says "Although your service to Seru is appreciated, I just recieved word that you were not the one that was sent to do this meial task. That lazy boy [Peran] was supposed to take the job.

You Say, "who Peran"

Legionnaire Delaren says "Centurioni (game bug on spelling) Peran is new to the ranks. He gets things done I suppose it just takes him a long, long time. Since you did his job for him, take him these new orders. We will make a soldier out of him yet.

Legionnaire Delaren gives you "orders for Peran", no drop note.

Find Centurion Peran in Dawnshroud Peaks, near a lake NE of Sanctus Seru zone line.

Give orders to Centurion Peran

Centurion Peran says 'Bah, why do I always get stuck with the hard jobs. Here I am, out here patrolling the area in all this danger! They send me to even more
threatening conditions? The life of a soldier is a hard one I tell ya! Oh well, off to do these orders I suppose. A shame no one will [help me] I am sure there is fame and fortune in the mission. More for me I suppose.

You Say, "What mission"

Centurion Peran says "Well, since you are so inquisitive I will tell you. The orders say to go to Maidens Eye and investigate reports of Vampyres in the area. Vampyres! Are they kidding?! I am just a Centurion! I know, I will continue to keep this area secure while you go investigate. Bring me sufficient proof of their existence in the area. Four piles of vampyre ashes should cover it. Well, get going! This mission isn't going to finish itself."

Go to Maiden's Eye and kill Coterie's (vamp looking mobs who hit for 120's and have 200hp blood drain, exact locs unclear but are to the right when leaving
Dawnshroud zone in little churchlike houses) and get 4 Vampyre Ashes (no drop, stackable).

Return to Centurion Peran in Dawnshroud and turn in.

Centurion Peran says 'Hah! I knew that we could do it! Oh, you can take my weapon for helping me out again. I will just tell the Hand it was lost in battle. I guess that I better take this evidence back to the Hand, right after one more lap!

Your faction standing with Seru got better.
You gain experience!!

Reward: Combine Two Handed Sword

Need all dialogues, /loc of quest mobs, missing quest items, current faction hits, additional rewards if any.

1) The Vampire Ashes from Tennebrous Mountains work for this quest, and will, for many people, be easier to obtain.

2) When you turn in the ashes to Peran, the only faction you recieve is an improvement in "Seru Race."

3) Also, when you turn in the ashes Peran gives you a random combine weapon. I did the quest three times and received a sword, a scimitar and a great staff. These sold to npc merchants for just over 100p combined total.

4) The exp for the both the Delaran part of the quest and the Peran part of the quest was neglibile to my 54 Druid who did the quest.

I have 2 stacks of zelniak meat but I am not going to blow my Katta faction for SSeru faction. The city sucks, IMO.
Really not worth the trouble

I did this quest today and I got a 5/24 combine sword. The loot you get from the vamps is better than the result from the quest. The faction gain isn't all that helpful either i was trying to make up for killing the hand of seru guards. I am still apprehensive. I guess i'm stick to pounding Recusos.

Zelniak Meat Guy in Dawnshroud?

I heard there was a fellow who takes 4 Zelniak meats for Sanctus Seru faction improvement, in Dawnshroud Peaks. I'm KOS in Sanctus Seru, would like to improve that. Is the fellow in the ruins/fort in the SW part of DS Peaks zone? Who is it?

I don't think this is all...

If you consider what needs to be done, this 'reward' just doesn't fit. RIGHT??? I'd be tempted to take this sword back to the legioneer that sent you after that stupid guy... turn this sword in and see what the boss has to say about that!

Anyone interested in follwoing up on this should try it and see. If I get time (Christmas Eve now) I'll try it and turn in the 2hander and see if something comes next. /shrug

Just a thought...
The Reward Kills this Quest

After Checking out the Combine Two Handed Sword, I have to say, for the effort involved, this quest is only good for faction...if you want to be enemies of Katta that is.

As a Pally, a 12/43 is a terrible 2 hander ... especially considering the mobs you have to fight to complete the quest. Why would anyone that could go to Maiden's Eye in the first place, use something like this? The Nathsar Great Sword (sells for about 150-200 pp in EC on Zeb) is 18/33, +10 str ... This reward is good only for the lowest of levels.

I picked up 8 ashes while soloing vampires in Katta, so I stopped by Peran and turned them in. Got combine warhammers both times. I wouldn't use them as weapons, but they sold to the vendors in Seru for 40pp each. So I basically made 80 free plat, plus the xp and a faction hit not to be sneezed at (Seru isn't easy to raise, especially if you don't want to trash your Katta faction).

I got no complaints.

That does sound like crap for a 50+ quest item. Perhaps someone should try bringing the proof of the vampyres to the guy in Sanctus instead of to Peran. OR bring Peran's sword back to him as proof that he is still lazy??

Just a thought.

For the most part, Sanctus Seru seems to be a waste of RAM... Very little of anything goes on in there, but I can tell you what the next part of this quest is.

After you hand him the Zelniak meat, he says words to the effect: "Some n00b in our army was supposed to do this job, not you! Here, take these orders to him."

He sends you out to find one Centurioni Pelan (Centurioni is a misspelling, it's supposed to be Centurion). You can look everywhere, but you will only find him near a pool in Dawnshroud, swimming of all things. Hand him the orders and get exp... then he asks you to complete his orders for him.

He's so lazy!

This is where the quest gets screwed and shoots it to a high level quest (51+). Turns out Pelan wants the ashes of 4 Vampyres from Maiden's Eye.

This zone is 50+ and I can tell you that just the Vampyre Bats themselves kick butt, much less the Vampyres.

Dunno what Pelan gives up as a reward as I will need to level a bit before even attempting the madness that is Maiden's Eye.

Turned 4 vampyre ashes to Pelan in Dawnshroud, he gives you a combine short sword. LOL...then he tells you he should go back to turn the ashes in, so my guess would be not to turn the ashes in to him but into someone else. Perhaps the legonnaire who this quest started with. Be back collecting more ashes tonight I guess. 8(

Dang it made it in THANK YOU Allakhazam.......WOOT

Do not know what the people in Katta are and I have not been there yet. Had to go to Sanctus for Ranger spells and got this quest on the side. There is also a second part to this were you deliver a note to Legionaire Peran. Will send those in when I get the chance
faction thoughts

If yer "good" don't blow yer "Katta"-anything faction just yet. There are some NICE quests there - most just - but one that gives a really nice necklace.
Katta and Seru are at war with each other - Katta are what's left of the old Combine Empire Loyalists who fled to the moon. Seru is what's left of the non-loyalists who pursued them up to the moon and got stuck there.
Be cautious til more is known about these two guys (sorta like dwarf vs giant in Vel).
Another consideration, if yer 45-plus or so in level you might want to be bound more in Seru. If yer under 45 or so, Katta is closer to zones good for you. At least that's what it seems to me so far. Sassafras, 55 druid, Nameless. (er, not druid, "Preserver" - does that mean I have to do the jam and jelly thing???).
Interesting

Noticing the numerous faction hits and having been into that zone already...I am curious what quests lie inside. Not many places have that many factions and are not tied to a quest of some sort. I must indulge this minute quest to find out what lies inside.

Factions on Luclin are *very* complicated. I did the quest for the Jeweled Quiver of the Hand, to see how good the quiver was. When I killed the halfling, Galren Fuzzytoes, in Katta Castellum, I got NINE faction hits. When I turned in the documents to get the quiver, I got SEVEN faction hits! That's the most faction hits I've ever seen for a single action, so be careful! Factions aren't simple anymore, so if you ruin a faction somewhere, it will be 10 times harder to fix.

RE: Interesting
# Dec 22 2001 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
The reason there are so many faction hits on Luclin is because they couldn't have more than 5 on the old world due to programming limitations. So, while before, you could kill the dorf guards in BB and never lose faction with them because they didn't have room for that hit. However, in Luclin, kill the equivelent and suffer a hit not only with every dorf, but EVERY single person who remotely likes them, at the same time gaining with EVERY single enemy of theirs. The moral: Be careful who you **** off, you may tie your faction in a knot, thus being unable to enter either city because half the NPCs will beat you up, while the other half worship you. =P
