You are to venture out, hunt and learn about Everfrost. Return to me with a White Wolf Skin as proof of your successful hunt. We will then continue your training.'

I shall task you with the creation of a few simple items from the materials available to us all. Go forth and harvest silk to make thread. Then when you feel you have learned enough, make a cap for yourself from the pelt of a bear. Return three Silk Thread and a Large Tattered Skullcap to me and I shall reward you.'

Hoyce MacTaegan says 'I see your wisdom grows, as does your skill. Wear this cap I have made for you. I believe you are now skilled enough to begin to pursue justice and to fight against our enemies. Are you [willing to fight]?'

What next?

OK, my beastie has a nice suit of armor. Is there another BST set of quests after this one, or are we on our own from here?

Ok
Just wanted to help out my fellow Beastlords with some info. After you do the newbe armor quests(which any beastlord can do ...all starting cities for beastlords have the same quests except the Vah Shir). After newbe armor quests after lvl 15 and you get your lvl 2 lvl 15 pet procs(this is a must have ) go to Shadowweavers Thicket on the moon and do the Ghulem armor quests and the Hero of the Vah Shir cloak quests. This cloak btw is best you will see for leather armor types like us till really high lvl.Yes,any race beastlord can do quests just do the Chiale friendship Ring quest to raise faction. If you found this website you can find the one for Vah Shal and Shadowweavers thickets as well to find out more about friendship ring quests.
After you do the Ghulem armor quest and Vah Shir Here cloak quest...your next stop should be FoB in Kunark and Carns Tower(may not be spelled right but you will figure it out.) Hunt there from 20-25 and get Burynai armor off dead mobs.Watchout for Guards in FoB they will of course kill you unless you are Iksar. You can build faction but it will take about 10 lvl worth of killing...from 20-30 to even begin doing the faction quests that are there.Again look up beastlord sites on Eqcaster.com under beastlord stratagy forums to find other people talk about earning faction in Cabalis...to long to explain here .
After you get Burynai armor sstart looking at wildlords armor quests at 30 plus or tailoring quest armor in SharVal (some of which is very very nice but requires tailor skill of 175 plus but is well worth the time). After the wildlords armor I am not sure I havent researched past that myself yet.Hope this helps you all.And yes before you ask,,,there is a way for non Vah Shir to do citizenship quests for Shar Val so they can do Cat tailoring quests. It involves mqing the newbe note quest ,I wont explain it more I am tired of typing now,but can be found in other places websites.Good luck to you all.

You don't have to do them in any particular order. I did the tunic, then the claw with my beastlore and it still worked.

Faction Adjustments
# Feb 03 2002 at 12:03 PM Rating: Decent
Just did the cap and kilt parts a few minutes ago, and the faction hits made me curious...

+Shamen of Justice
+Merchants of Halas
-Coalition of Tradesfolk Ill.
-Circle of Unseen Hands
-Ebon Mask

Who the hell are the Ebon Mask? I checked this site for quests and bestiary involving them, and found nothing. I've become curious about the faction hits, but more about the story behind them. What do Qeynos Rogues have against Halas Shamen? The only human in town that I've seen yet is the one seeking her lost brother (Vengeful Musician quest). This may take some looking in to...

Looks like the Halas Beastmasters just dont get along with rogues. Negative faction hits for Qeynos (circle of unseen hands), Freeport (coalition of tradesfolk, Illegal), and Neriak (Ebon Masks).

how do you start ?
# Dec 31 2001 at 7:10 AM Rating: Default
From a newbie. How do you start this quest ? I hail Hoyce then he answer with [Keven] in the sentence. I use Keven in my reply and .... nothing.
RE: how do you start ?
# Jan 16 2002 at 6:02 PM Rating: Decent
I hope you figured out what to say by now. For those who may still be wondering, you do talk to Hoyce. When he asks about Keven say, " Keven sent me". That is what I said and it worked.
Hope that gets everyone started.
Good luck and good hunting.

Go to Keven, he is in the next hut over, he will prompt you what to do next. Remember that he wants a GIANT snake fang. To make thread you need a sewing kit and some spiderling silk (2), combine and you have thread.
RE: how do you start ?
# Feb 03 2002 at 10:32 AM Rating: Decent
Just as a note, you don't need to buy a sewing kit. There's a loom next to Mac's Kilts that can be used for free (operates the same as a forge, oven, etc. Just click on the frame).

CLAW!
# Dec 28 2001 at 9:32 AM Rating: Default
Anyone know what stats are on the claw?
RE: CLAW!
# Dec 30 2001 at 8:24 PM Rating: Decent
Magic Item Lore Item No Drop
5 Dam, 24 Del, skill=hand to hand.
slot: Primary Secondary

Nice little weapon If I say so myself.
The other Norathian Beastlords also have a quest for a claw with the same stats, just a different description.
Easy Newby Quest
# Dec 23 2001 at 10:29 AM Rating: Excellent
Yesterday I started a Beastlord and went from 1 to 7 in no time, mostly working on the quest items. Wish I would have had the complete list on me from the beginning, though. Did sell a few gob necklaces I didn't know I'd need later. Some tips.... You can easily get all 4 gob necklaces by going to one of the goblin igloos and clearing them out. For the Field Priest Claw, if you don't want to go down into Blackburrow to hunt, the hunting bow and giant snake fang can usually be bought by merchants (I've seen both at merchants in Qeynos - the hunting bow a little over 3 gp and the giant snake fang between 5 and 6 pp.) And a good place for a lowby to hunt gnolls (and not get caught in trains, lol) are the ents to BB on the Everfrost and Qeynos Hills sides. I just made 7 and am now out hunting orcs for the wrath orc wristband. Used to be you could find these at merchants too, but with this quest started, I haven't seen them nearly as much. Good place to look, though, is Starn, at the temple out in Everfrost. All and all, I think this is a great set of newby quests. After trying to make a cat beastlord and deal with the hundreds of others all going for the same loot in their newby zone... for now the Barb Beastlord is the way to go.
Great exp
# Dec 20 2001 at 7:13 AM Rating: Decent
These quests are great exp for Barb Beastlords all the way up (so far) thru 18...Ive done all 5 quests (and it is, indeed, a Giant Snake Fang, despite what Hoyce says), and now I just turn in backpack after backpack of Wrath Orc Wristbands to Hoyce for exp. This quest is much better than Cindl's quest for 2 wristbands--Cindl only gives half the exp for a pair of wristbands!! I just leveled 18, and thru 17 I was still getting just under half a blue per wristband; what with my pet having a 30dd magic based proc buff, Im taking down mammy calves and snow orc shamen left and right, and just sending my pet after troopers while I sit.

Anyway, excellent quest for lowbies, great fun to play this class/race combo (SharVahl is way too laggy still); Blackburrow is a goldmine for exp and gnoll fangs up the wazzoo...take them to Captain Tillyn(sp?) in Qeynos instead of Lysbith in Halas unless you want the faction more than the exp (yeah right!)

BST only
# Dec 19 2001 at 5:25 AM Rating: Default
I haven't seen anyone mention this but these items are also bst only items I didn't see that on a post. So the post should say best class Beast lord.
RE: BST only
# Dec 24 2001 at 7:24 PM Rating: Decent
Ahh yes, the armor may be for BST only, but the exp and faction is good for every class, and that you don't have to work in the BST faction before they will give you the quest, and class can get it right off the bat, so that must be why they don't use BST as the best class.

repeating quest
# Dec 16 2001 at 5:41 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, I repeated some parts of the quest for faction and experiance and had no problems until after the final quest, He said "I can teach you no more" or something like that, and now I cannot repeat any parts of the quests Can anyone confirm this, or am I on drugs again???
RE: repeating quest
# Dec 16 2001 at 11:29 PM Rating: Decent
I have done the same thing, just doing the quest for exp. I have about 4 wristguards to turn in, but have not done so. I guess I will find out if it is a bug or not.
Pertaining to my previous post of using a normal snake fang, I was completely off. I thought I was using a snake fang, but in actuality, it was a giant one I was turning in. My fault for that post, and my apologies if anyone actually listened to it..

where is he
# Dec 14 2001 at 10:39 PM Rating: Default
where is Hoyce MacTaegan at, anyway?
RE: where is he
# Dec 16 2001 at 6:26 AM Rating: Decent
He's back in the huts, near the sled dogs. He is in the hut facing the Guild leader and the Merchant.
He says to go to Blackburrow
# Dec 14 2001 at 6:12 AM Rating: Default
The only snake fangs I have ever seen in Blackburrow are the giant snake fangs so that is what I did the quest with before even coming here to see about the quests
RE: He says to go to Blackburrow
# Dec 14 2001 at 6:14 AM Rating: Default
Oh and by the way I didnt see this posted the Field Priest's Leather (tunic) is like AC 11 and +3 Str
Need Giant
# Dec 13 2001 at 12:20 PM Rating: Default
Just to concur with what has been posted so far, yesterday evening (12/12/01) I tried it with a normal snake fang, got screwed out of a good hunting bow and gnoll fang too. ;-) So you'll need a giant one to do this quest, regardless of what our remarkably quiet guild mentors may say (Kevan doesn't even respond to hails, guess they weren't quite "fully implemented" upon release.../sigh)
Giant or maybe not
# Dec 12 2001 at 9:43 AM Rating: Decent
I turned in the gnoll fang, hunting bow, and a normal snake fang, and I still got the claw.
I never saw him say giant. I was expecting him to, since I was about to take my main to NRo and get one, but he never told me giant.
hmmm...
RE: Giant or maybe not
# Dec 12 2001 at 10:01 PM Rating: Decent
It is possible that someone turned in 2 giant snake fangs also(yes, you can multiquest this).

Remember, Hoyce sends you to Blackburrow to get this stuff. From what I remember the Giant Snakes in BlackBurrow do not drop normal (stackable) snake fangs.

Anyway I can't wait to get a Wrath Orc Wristband to turn in.
WOOHOO

Finally some newbie armor that rocks. The kilt rulez...sorry but my oppinion, a lvl 1 that has leg armor that buffs stats that a lvl 30 mob didnt dropd just rulez. =)
I got my claw but he didn't say anything for next quest.
# Dec 10 2001 at 11:20 PM Rating: Default
Do you turn the stuff into the same guy? i gave him the fang, bow and tooth and he gave me the claw. but he didn't give me the next quest. Do you have the buzz words for next part.(I did part three iat level 7)

Just HAIL him and turn in the Wrath Wristband, worked for me.

# Dec 10 2001 at 12:15 PM Rating: Default
We should have had quests like this to begin with, not just starting now. This is some of the best newbie quest stuff I've seen.
great quest for lowbies
# Dec 09 2001 at 6:48 PM Rating: Decent
this is by far one of the best quests ive seen for a newbie character, and easy too. you'd be surprised what people sell to merchants hehe. i finished this quest leveling at 6 upon completion, tho i think it was meant for finishing at near lvls 8-10, considering you have to get a giant snake fang for the claws and a wrath orc wristband for the tunic, both mobs that are just above a lvl 6 to solo (but grouped , may not be such a big deal. ;)) so to all aspiring field priests, do this quest. the items are more than worth it for low lvls, and the claw is MAGIC! which means you have something to kill willowisps with early ;)
Giant Snake Fang
# Dec 09 2001 at 11:17 AM Rating: Decent
The giant snake fang is dropped by the giant sankes on the snake ledge and on the ramp to th e ramp to the 2nd level of blackborrow.
Field Priest's Claw Stats
# Dec 09 2001 at 2:23 AM Rating: Decent
The Field Priest's Claw is something I haven't seen before: a weapon on hand to hand skill. It's 5 damage, 24 delay hand-to-hand. It looks like a claw. You need to give him the giant snake fang that's a piercer to complete the quest, a lot of people have been handing in snake fangs (the stackable kind) instead. If you're interested in doing it easy, try just giving him the fang, the previous guy might have goofed it and given him the wrong fang.
giant snake fang
# Dec 08 2001 at 11:57 PM Rating: Default
where can you find the giant snake fang, or where can it be bought? (I have the rest waiting for it) Got it now, the claw is great. Only regret not practicing h2h before...

RE: giant snake fang
# Dec 11 2001 at 12:28 AM Rating: Decent
they are a common drop off the snakes in eastern karana...but the snakes con blue to a lvl 17. Try to get a high lvl to get one for ya ;)
RE: giant snake fang
# Dec 10 2001 at 7:57 AM Rating: Decent
You can get the giant snake fang from the Asps in Blackburrow. I can't really think of anywhere else close by...
RE: giant snake fang
# Dec 16 2001 at 5:37 AM Rating: Decent
The purpose for this part of the quest set is to get you into Blackburrow, so use the fangs of the Blackburrow snakes to complete it. It seems all the Beastlord races have this sort of quest set, I hope the retrofit the rest of the classes quests to match.
yea
# Dec 08 2001 at 12:07 PM Rating: Default
I did all 5 quests in half an hour with my lvl 1 (5by the end of them) beastlord, the tunic rocks, i was using a splitpaw, and offering 1pp to loot a gnoll fang got me that without having to be big enough to kill gnolls, bought the fang and bow for 2pp, got the orc bracer for 5pp and i was all done, thank god I gave my newbie 150pp :) (and conferming it IS a giant snake fang needed for the claw)
