This quest begins with Tobala Honeyjar in Katta Castellum. She is located at /loc 50, -350, 2 (outside the large manor in the zone's northwest).

You say, 'Hail, Tobala Honeyjar'

Tobala Honeyjar says 'Hello! I am Governess Tobala Honeyjar of Katta Castellum. Overseeing the maintenance of the [Nocturnal Gardens] is just one of my duties as the governess of agriculture and ecology.'

You say, 'What Nocturnal Gardens?'

Tobala Honeyjar says 'These are the Nocturnal Gardens in which we now stand. It is a collection of flora from various regions of the dark side of Luclin. It is a shame that we are not capable of supplying the nutrients necessary to maintain flora from the light side of Luclin. If you wish to assist in the maintenance of the garden I have some [tasks] you may be helpful in completing.'

You say, 'What tasks?'

Tobala Honeyjar says 'I am in need of ingredients to create more [fertilizer] and in need of a competent forager to gather some [rare plants] for me.'

You say, 'What rare plants?'

Tobala Honeyjar says 'I am seeking seeds and plants that I may extract the seeds from that are native to the light side of Luclin so that I am prepared should the Illuminarium Industria succeed in constructing a lantern that will provide the plants with the nutrients they need to survive here on the dark side. It would be a tremendous help if you could bring me a Twilight Orchid, Dawnflower Seeds, a Red Sands Cactus, and a Letalis Zenith Vine.'

The items you require are all foraged and can be found in the following zones:

Dawnflower Seeds: from Dawnshroud Peaks and Umbral Plains ;
Letalis Zenith Vine: from Mons Letalis ;
Red Sands Cactus: from Scarlet Desert ;
Twilight Orchid: from Akheva Ruins, Maiden's Eye, Twilight Sea, Umbral Plains and Vex Thal.

Hand those four items to Tobala.

Tobala Honeyjar says 'Oh thank you so much! You have saved me much time and trouble! Now if only those tinkerers in the Illuminarium Industria could figure out how to get that artificial light working!'

I have managed to acquire all the foraged items for the quest's completion. I am a lvl 52 druid with track and I am not familiar with Katta at all. I have been running into walls all over the place trying to find this questgiver. Anyone have a location or directions to find her comming in from Twilight?

Okay, I found her my first time in KC.

IF you enter from Tenebrous you should find her pretty easily. Just go straight after zoning in and go till you find the entrance to your right to the Walled portion with Trees in it. She is on the right.

If you enter from TS you have to go the long way around. Make your way to the bank first. following the walkway and then the tunnels till you lead out into an open area... where the bank is. Then there should be some stairs that lead to a very scary cliff walkway... Take that to the upper level and then go west to the large building with all the plants in front of it.. The druid is out front to the right...

One quick note.. the succor point for katta is right by TM zoneline... so I always zone in from TS, then succor me (and my group). Makes getting to the top part where the turn in mobs are (ie. bane warding shield, rallic pack, or this machette).
Letalis Zenith Vine
# Feb 15 2003 at 2:33 AM Rating: Decent
Man, not sure if I'm unlucky or what. Spent two one hour camps here and still no vine =(
RE: Letalis Zenith Vine
# Apr 13 2003 at 6:10 AM Rating: Decent
I got the vine in about half an hour at Mons just sitting at the zone line. Have a 193 skill in foraging. The Dawnflower Seeds were actually harder, and it's ironic because I'm always foraging those in DSP, except the one night I need them for a quest.

The other two I got in around 25ish forages, taking maybe half an hour there, too.
RE: Letalis Zenith Vine
# Apr 06 2003 at 6:38 PM Rating: Decent
Update: Six hours plus still no vine =(
Has anyone foarged this thing lately? I thought with a 200 skill in forage this would be a breeze to get, silly me.

I got vine in 3 forages, but I've been working on red sands cactus for about 2 hours now. This quest is starting to bite...

The text here says get a four slot box, and she didn't come up with no box for me. Since they were semi-easy forages I went ahead and just gave her the four items, for a successful turnin.

Nowhere in the quest text does it say to get a four slot bag, unless it has been updated since you posted. If you hail the NPC she will tell you what to do. It is always best to do the full quest yourself rather than read misinformation and try to hand stuff in without speaking with the NPC. If there was a four slot container involved, she would give it to you when you hailed her. She also gives a hint about another quest to improve Katta's lighting: Acrylia Phosphate https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=1463

This is an awfully nice tool now when I need to forage 4 rare plants for my epic, 8 rare plants for the Crest of the Woodnymph quest, and numerous Morning Dews, Cinnamon Sticks and Oak Barks for wood elf cultural foraging. Maybe some people have had bad luck, but I found all of the plants needed to get the Machette easily during the course of regular hunting and travelling. With this good reward and such a small investment to get it (for those who can use it, who can all run at SoW or Selo's speed and/or port), I'm rating this quest excellent.
RE: Excellent, I say
# Nov 26 2002 at 5:16 PM Rating: Decent
I would agree, it's also useful for your high end baking. If you wanna sit and work on another skill or PL someone while foraging plant-shoots/eggs/cin-sticks. Modifier helps alot and you're workin 2 skills, beats Halas 10pounders. Just MHO tho :p
Twilight Orchids
# Oct 13 2002 at 11:01 PM Rating: Decent
Twilight Orchids can be foraged in many zones. I foraged 2 today in Ahkeva Ruins and one while outside of Ahkeva in Maidens Eye. I seem to remember getting them from many zones, so they are not limited to just Twilight Sea. As for the other stuff, that's another matter.
There is no quest container
# Sep 13 2002 at 10:09 PM Rating: Excellent
This quest isn't too hard. At 200 skill, I went to each of the following zones and sat at the zoneline.

Dawnflower Seeds: Dawnshroud Peaks (foraged within 5 forage attempts)
Twilight Orchid: The Twilight Sea (foraged within 20 forage attempts)
Letalis Zenith Vine: Mons Letalis (foraged within 20 forage attempts)
Red Sands Cactus: Scarlet Desert (foraged on my first attempt)

Then I simply ran over to Katta (from Twilight Side), walked up to Tobala Honeyjar, hailed her, said "what rare plants", and then proceeded to give her each of the 4 items.

Gained experience, got the Foraging Machette, and got the following faction adjustments:

+Concilium Universus
-Seru
-Heart of Seru

The druid port to Twilight makes this quest a cinch.

Cronealus Arbor - 58 Wood Elf Druid

Can this really put a person over the cap?
# Jun 18 2002 at 9:38 PM Rating: Default
From my understanding is that druids are capped at 200 for a skill, with tradeskills you can never exceed your cap with any plus skill modifing items, but trade skills are capped at 255. Can this actually put a person at 220 skill if they are already at the 200 cap? Who has this weapon and have you noticed a difference in the forage rate of rare forages with it equipped? If it does let you exceed the 200 cap then this item is a must have for any serious tradeskiller. Thankyou for any helpful info posted.
RE: Can this really put a person over the cap?
# Aug 29 2002 at 2:47 PM Rating: Decent
hmm.
from my understanding:
tradeskills are capped at 250, meaning you can't advance beyond that
% modifiers can put a person up to 252 simulated skill (not higher because 253-255 are bits representing something like not trained, can't train and something else)
this should put a person up to 220 simulated skill (from 200), which should increase the amount of rare forages.
check out eqtraders info on % skill modifiers in their faqs on the message board, they probably have the correct information and a better explanation =)
RE: Can this really put a person over the cap?
# Jan 25 2004 at 5:50 AM Rating: Default
Nope, they announced when they put the skill mod things in the official cap for any skill was 255 solid. All skill modifying items work to give to up to a 255 skill success for a combine so yes this will give you a forage success of 220 skill.
I realize there is no reason to believe me over anyone else but all credibility aside, this is the truth...

RE: Can this really put a person over the cap?
# Sep 24 2004 at 5:52 AM Rating: Decent
Actually, with the new tradeskill UI, a +5% modifier to a base skill of 250 produces a skill of 252, so saying that the cap is 255 isn't really the truth. 255 is the normal cap for stats, i.e.: strength, stamina, dex, etc...

Trade skills don't break 252. Because as we all know, 250 + 5% = 264.6, so even if you rounded down, thats still a far cry from what you get, (252).

And if you don't believe it, just max out a tradeskill, equip your mod, and open the new UI and check out your skill level.
RE: Can this really put a person over the cap?
# Nov 26 2002 at 4:56 PM Rating: Decent
And on that site you'll notice the seven tradeskills listed, foraging is Not a tradeskill :p although there MAY be some kinda cap this is still useful in reaching that cap.

Ok, in a nut shell... Twilight Orchid - Twilight Sea, Dawnflower Seeds - Dawnshroud Peaks, a Red Sands Cactus - Scarlet Desert, and a Letalis Zenith Vine - Mons Letalis. This is where I foraged each item... And each one off the first try. 200 foraging helps I think... I have only foraged these items in the places I stated... could be foraged elsewhere? I do not know.
She has never given a bag with the quest since I have been messing with this quest... Hey, I forage a lot and collect them & turn things in as I have all 4. Ya ya get a LIFE Adra! It is great for the faction hits :)

This is what she says if you only give her one of the items:
[Tue May 21 00:16:38 2002] Tobala Honeyjar says 'I would like all four of the plants that I asked for please.'

This is what happens when you give her all 4 items:

[Tue May 21 00:17:10 2002] Tobala Honeyjar says 'Oh thank you so much Adrastea! You have saved me much time and trouble! Now if only those tinkerers in the Illuminarium Industria could figure out how to get that artificial light working!'

[Tue May 21 00:17:10 2002] You gain experience!!
[Tue May 21 00:17:11 2002] Adrastea saved.

And you receive this:
Foraging Machette
LORE ITEM
Damage: 5
Delay: 32
Weight: 0.0
Weapon Skill: One Hand Slash
Classes: Bard Druid Ranger
Races: Human Half Elf Wood Elf Halfling Vah Shir
Inventory Slot: Either Melee
Can be stored in Medium and larger containers
Additional Modifiers:
Foraging: +10%

Yes, it is an icky weapon, but great for newbies who might starve to death... :p

Oh By The Way... Tobala Honeyjar is also a Trainer for us Druids :)

Hope this clears up any confusion!

Why do you assume the quest is broken because you dont get a bag? She does nto say anything about a bag and about half of the quests in this game of this type do NOT require containers.

Twilight Orchid is foraged in Maidens Eye NOT in Twilight Sea where you woudl expect. Also either the Letalis Vine does NOT forage in Mons LEtalis or it is very rare. I got all the rest on first couple of forages but after 2 hours nothign in Mons adn I am at 200 forage.

Found them as listed
Dawnflower Seeds - Dawnshroud Peaks, Umbral Plains
Twlight Orchid - Maiden's Eye, The Twlight Sea, Vex Thal
Letalis Zenith Vine - Mons Letalis
Red Sands Cactus - Scarlet Desert

Took me about an hour and a half of foraging at 155 skill (was UI skinning at the time so not time wasted :o)

about to go hand the items in ....

I hailed Tobala Honeyjar last night and asked her what rare plants, she replied with what plants she needed but did *not* give the bag to put them in. This can be varified by another player as she tried to do it also. Neither of us recieved a bag for the rare plants quest but she did get a bag for the fertilizer quest. This leads me to believe the quest might be broken or neither of us had high enough faction with her yet. Any help would be Helpful.

Thanks bunches

I'm not sure where the original poster of this quest got the 4slot bag from... unless they changed it since luclin came out. I have done this quest and for the flowers you need no container to combine them in, just hand the four plants to the little halfling and recieve a machette, 1h slashing. The dmg/dly is bad something along the lines of 8/32, but this is a good item since it also ads 10% to your foraging skill.
RE: Quest broken?
# May 04 2002 at 11:09 AM Rating: Excellent
Greetings

The quest is not broken, but I think it is 2 different quests.
1. Where you get the bag for the fertilizer. Made from 3 piles of Fungus Compost (foraged in Fungus Grove and Paludan Caverns), 3 piles of Owlbear Dung (Paludan Caverns) and 2 piles of Netherbian Nitrate (Netherbian Lair). Results in faction and a small reward.

2. Find rare flowers. A Twilight Orchid (foraged in The Twilight Sea), Darnflower Seeds (foraged in Darnshroud Peaks), a Red Sand Cactus (foraged The Scarlet Desert) and a Letalis Zenith Vine (foraged in Mons Letalis). Results in faction and Foraging Machette.

The reason for it being two post is that you get a bag for the fertilizer quest, with 8 slots, for the 8 piles to be combined. The other quest is for 4 rare plants, which is what you can give a NPC (no bag needed).

Yours truly,

I just don't understand this.
several times just passing through Netherbian
twice with a friend helping with buffs and heals for his lower level character.
Yield:
4 nitrates, 2 of which I destroyed before I researched what it was for, and couldn't sell, so needed the slots for other things.
today, got the last two, in Netherbian about 30 minutes (maybe a tad more), and thought I would check before I destroyed them.
same thing happens when I zone into a zone..whatever is "rare" forage item, I seem to get right away, and sure would like some food for a change!
Oh, and since they changed the "forage table", I get way more rare stuff, hardly ever food and water after dying, and much less water than I used to. I think I'm broken 8>/
good news for the rest of you, though..haven't foraged ANY of the other items, so you may be in luck with them!

For her requests, assuming that the forages are based on name of items, so:

For flowers -
Scarlet Desert, Twilight Sea, Mons Letalis, and Dawnshroud Peaks.

For compost -
Owlbear dung is foraged in Paludal Caverns. I have not yet foraged it elsewhere (My forage skill is 200).
The Fungus Nitrate is foraged in Fungus Grove.
Have not yet foraged Netherbian Nitrate. Spent at least an hour in Netherbian Lair tonight, foraging (and idly killing off the mobs inbetween) - did not find as a forage or a drop. A ground spawn, perhaps? Any help on that would be nice. :)

Did this quest and received Foraging Machette. Foraged Netherbian Nitrate very quickly in Netherbian. Maybe I was just lucky to get it so quickly. Took me maybe 30 minutes to get 2 piles. The fungus compost and (Fungus Grove) and Owlbear Dung (Paludal Caverns) took me a lot longer to get. It was interesting if not time consuming and end result was ok. Not great though.

and +10% Forage (isnt that worth the Quest? 220 in Foraging now wooot)
