This is a wonderful quest to build faction with some of the denizens of Shadowhaven. It is relatively easy to complete since you can run invisibly between the questmasters if need be and should be very handy for saving up money for that new steed!

    STEP 1

The quest begins at Trade Commissioner Henry, adjacent to the warriors guild in Shadowhaven. Location -297, 392, -24, in the building by the bridge leading to Paludual Caverns.

You say, 'Hail, Trade Commissioner Henry'

Trade Commissioner Henry says 'Hello there, traveler. I don't believe that I have seen you around these parts before- then again, I could have and simply forgotten since there have been so many new faces around here. However, if you are a newcomer to Shadowhaven, please make sure that you [register for trading] in the Haven. Registering with the Traders of the Haven will legitimize you in the eyes of local merchants and customers.

You say, 'I will register for trading'

Trade Commissioner Henry says 'It's great that you are interested Ashwith, you will surely be glad you did. I have some simple deliveries that I need completed if you wish to be a registered trader in Shadowhaven.

    You say, 'What deliveries?'

Trade Commissioner Henry says 'The deliveries are simple enough, I just need you to bring some letters to some merchants of the Haven that are currently working in other locations. Will you [deliver these letters]?

You say, 'I will deliver these letters'

Trade Commissioner Henry says 'I surely do appreciate the help, Ashwith- clearly you understand the value of solid relations with the locals. First, I will need you to take this newsletter to Sateal. He is currently on assignment in the Bazaar and has been out of the loop on the happenings of Shadowhaven because of his heavy workload. Bring this to him and then return to me with his sales report. I look forward to seeing you soon.

Trade Commissioner Henry gives you a Tattered Newsletter.

    STEP 2

Hand the Tattered Newsletter to Sateal Deirosap who can be found in the middle of The Bazaar zone in the merchants' area. Location 0.5, 14.8,1.66.

Sateal Deirosap says 'Ah great, I have been meaning to go and pick one of these up from the Trade Commissioner but I have been very busy with my work. I'm sure Henry has been waiting for my sales report so here it is. Please return it to him for me if you could and thanks again!'

    You gain experience!!

Sateal Deirosap gives you a Sales Report.

    STEP 3

Return the Sales Report to Shadowhaven and hand it in to Trade Commissioner Henry.

Trade Commissioner Henry says 'Great to see you back so soon Ashwith, you looked like a dependable person from the start. The next thing I need you to do is a bit more dangerous, but by the looks of you I doubt it will be a problem. Go to the Shadowhaven outpost in Fungusgrove and give Thar this book. Thar is a great merchant but I have seen his sales steadily declining, so I figured this book full of selling tips will help him regain his confidence and help him produce the kinds of numbers I know he is capable of. If his economy report is ready please, bring that back to me when you return.'

    You gain party experience!!

Trade Commissioner Henry gives you a Book of Sales Secrets.

    STEP 4

You'll need to locate Thar Anton in the Fungus Grove outpost. Location -1317, -847, -272 in the second building on your left after you zone in from Echo Caverns. You can travel to Fungus Grove from Shadowhaven by going through the Echo Caverns. Thar Anton can be found on a raised platform about midway through the Fungus Grove outpost. He's wearing a white robe and sells basic provisions. For amusement purposes, I hailed him... as you can see, he's quite the confident salesman. *coughs*

    You say, 'Hail, Thar Anton'

Thar Anton says 'Hello there traveler. I have many wares for sale so please take a look at what I have. If you think all my goods are junk and wish to buy from someone else though I'll understand.

Hand the Book of Sales Secrets to Thar Anton in Fungus Grove.

Thar Anton says 'I see you have brought a book from the Commissioner. Well I'm not much for reading but I will surely try anything that may increase my sales. Anyways I'm sure you aren't that interested in how bad my sales are and would like to be on your way so here you go.'

Your faction standing with House of Fordel has been adjusted by 1.
Your faction standing with House of Midst has been adjusted by 1.
Your faction standing with House of Stout has been adjusted by 1.
    You gain experience!!

Thar Anton gives you his Economy Report.

    STEP 5

Return the Economy Report to Trade Commissioner Henry back in Shadowhaven.

Trade Commissioner Henry says 'Excellent work Ashwith, I knew that you were someone that I could trust to get the job done. The trader's union of Shadowhaven will hear of your solid work ethic. Perhaps a courier job is in your future, I couldn't have expected anyone to make these deliveries as fast as you did! Please take this amulet as a symbol of your dedication to Shadowhaven's booming economy. While wearing this you are sure to get all the greatest deals from the merchants of the Haven both here and in the bazaar. It was a pleasure meeting, you and thanks for all of your help.'
Your faction standing with Traders of the Haven has been adjusted by 200.
Your faction standing with House of Fordel has been adjusted by 20.
Your faction standing with House of Midst has been adjusted by 20.
Your faction standing with House of Stout has been adjusted by 20.
    You gain experience!!

I did this quest today, 11/2/16, and it is all the same except that Trade Commissioner Henry gives you the Amulet Of the Haven. The last line is incorrect in your description, as he does not give it back (as you never gave it to him in the first place). Might want to remove that last line or update it

    Hours to receive Ally
    # Sep 19 2004 at 8:12 AM Rating: Decent
Living on a red server (Rallos Zek) means that faction can be life or death in certain areas of the game...one such place is Shadow Haven. Having decided that leveling my level 20 alts was essential in both PC, and later in EC, I decided to gain Ally faction with the 3 Houses, Traders, and Guards/Defenders in SH. To accomplish the guards/defenders I easily cycled through about 50 runs to Dawnshroud to complete the Mystila quest. However, after this I still needed Traders, House of midst and Stout. Let me tell you, it took my Ikky necro and my Gnome necro approximately 118 cycles to become allied with both Houses. While traders are quick, taking only about 26 trips for ally, the other houses were a bit ridiculous. I think for those of you seeking Ally to any of the houses, the quests specific to each house would be much better...i.e. Glowing Mud burrower rocks for HoMidst and the Rhino beetle horn quest in the bazaar.

Do the Amulet of the Haven quest and this quest concurrently:

Both of them involve going from Shadow Haven to the Bazaar and back to Shadow Haven and will give more faction boosts with a single trip.
    EASY
    # Feb 25 2004 at 9:25 AM Rating: Decent
God this quest is so easy. Nothing in FG even comes close to threatening you. You zone into an area that is near the town and has no monsters.

You just have to get through Echo Caverns. It's simple. You just go past the three boglings that are well clear of the center of the walk way. If you get attacked run back and hide in the apron of the guards.

After that all you have to contend with is STATIONARY non targetable plants. Don't go near them. They're easy to see. They have tentacles that thrash about. Just follow the maps and you'll be fine.
    RE: EASY
    # May 04 2004 at 9:59 AM Rating: Decent
Since no one has mentioned it, I will.
This quest (and all other Shadow Haven quests) improves faction standing with the Bazaar merchants as well. There are all the same club, so that's an added bonus.
Thar Anton in the Fungus Grove outpost
    # Dec 04 2003 at 6:53 PM Rating: Excellent
Thar Anton in the Fungus Grove outpost is NOT wearing a white robe. He is in a stone building. If i remember correctly it is the only building with battlements. If this helps.. There are 4 gate-like walls in the outpost from the entrance near the EC zone to the exit going out into the rest of FG. The building you are looking for is directly to your left after the 2nd gate. It looks as though it is attached to the left wall of the 2nd gate after you go through it. remember it is a stone building. He is located inside.. NOT in a white Robe,
    Where is THAR ANTON?

    Getting to FG
    # Mar 30 2003 at 11:39 PM Rating: Default
The only problems you should encounter getting to the guy in FG are:
1: The trapped plants, just steer clear of them (the big one you first encounter is the closest you should have to get to one)
2: Bogglings sometimes get close to the path you will learn to take, just be patient, or be fast.
3: mosquitoes (needlites) may wander into your path. Avoid them or lead them back to the guard near SH zone.
Faction shouldn't be a problem with the guys in FG. and I have done this with all of my guys at level 1 with no buffs. it's easy just got to remember the pattern.

    Huh?

Now, this is about as poorly written a post as I have ever seen. What exactly is the question?

If you are asking whether your Necro can do this quest, the answer is yes. Get a SoW and invis for the trip to Fungus grove, and you'll be fine.

A level one, of any class can do this quest. There is no fighting of any sort required.

The only real danger in doing this quest is getting through the area before Fungus Grove. If you are on a low level character, make sure you have about 300 hp, otherwise, you are risking death (or...now, a minor annoyance of having to run through again..). If you get anywhere close to the flowers, they will cast something like the spell Enveloping Roots - direct damage root. You may get never get hit, or you could get hit a couple times.

Did this quest today with my newbie level 5 Barbarian Shaman, the instructions were just fine, I already knew to avoid those flowers in Fungus, did without sow, took about 30 minutes, no problems at all. If you don't know the zones or the folks (NPC) to look for, I can see where this would take the hour listed. Before the quest I only found one merchant that would sell to me, afterward pretty much everyone checked so far sells to me. The exp didnt seem to move at all.

Did this the other day with my lvl 16 necro. Although not KOS, no one would sell to me. After getting the amulet, traders would buy and sell, still regarded as apprehensive. As far as exp goes, only got about 1% total.

Good quest, if only to buy and sell in town.

[Go to EQAtlas and get maps for ShadowHaven, Echo Caverns and Fungus Grove] Note: can be completed while doing the Hardam's Goods quest:
    https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=1450

1.Trade Commissioner Henry (ShadowHaven: n293,p391)-say "I will deliver these letters". Bind here and head to Bazaar.

2.Sateal Deirosap (Bazaar: n673,n35) give letters and recieve "Sales Report". Gate and give report to Trade Commisioner to receive a book. Take book to Thar Anton in Fungus Grove thru Echo Caverns.

3.The secret entrance to Echo Caverns is behind the ShadowHaven soulbinder (p234,p1644). Run thru hugging left wall when possible avoiding any possible roamers. No need for invis, just be aware of your surroundings.

4.Fungus Grove is a high level zone but there is no reason for invis because you never get near any mobs since you actually zone into the small village.

5.Thar Anton (Fungus Grove: n1315,n843)-give book and recieve the "Sales Report". Gate and give report to Trade Commisioner for the "Amulet of the Haven".

*Personal note: I have done this with many different races (High Elf, Dwarves, Iksar, Trolls, Dark Elves, ) and of different classes. I have also talked to other different races and classes while doing this. There doesnt seem to be a standard amount of times a character has to do this to be able to sell. My Iksar SK did this quest once and can now sell, my Troll Beastlord has done it 3 times to be able to sell. My High Elf Enchanter has done it 6 times so far and has yet to be able to buy or sell without using illusion. And using my Dark Elf to do this quest and get locations I did the quest once and went from Aprehensive to Amiable.

    Amulet, and Anton
    # Oct 10 2002 at 2:35 PM Rating: Good
I was surprised by a couple of things.

#1 I don't have to wear the Amulet for them to be Amicable, though it does give a +2 CHA.

(However, there's apparently a Charisma cap of 110 when it comes to getting good prices. I have an Opal Encrusted Stein [CHA +50] and can cast Charisma [CHA +40], so I don't need the amulet to get to CHA 110). You can hold TWO Opal Steins if you need to, they're not very expensive in the Bazaar, as potters make them to raise skill.)

#2 Doing the quest a second time didn't seem to change their attitude any more, or lower their prices.
This doesn't match the posts I have read form others, so I don't know.

    Anton:
He's not wearing a white robe, he looks like a human wearing leather. He's in the second house on the left as you enter Fungus Grove from Echo Caverns.

First up, the Opal steins are only +25Cha each. I carry a pair on most my characters.

More importantly, I often do this quest three times. Once to get to amiable, then twice more the get to kindly .. with some traders. The traders on the East side of town still tend to be dubious and require that I wear the amulet to get up to apprehensive. Mind you, this is all experience with good characters (high elf of Solusek, wood elf of Tunare and assling of Karana so far). My iksar only did it once for the amulet.

Finally, yes, there is a "best price". At 110 Charisma, you'll get best prices from most merchants that are indifferent or better. Some require much higher (about 135) for best price (e.g., FP bank merchant, Kelethin merchant outside bank .. see a trend?) but I've yet to find any of these in ShadowHaven.
