I wish I would have seen the message about keeping see invis on before I did this part of the quest, because after waiting for weeks and weeks to get the camp, I almost had Dyllin dead when the red smuggler showed up and splatted me. I figured my DoT would have time to finish him off while I ran back and got my (and his) corpse. I showed up just in time to see someone (who shall remain nameless) appear before my very eyes as he attacked, killed and looted Dyllin right under my nose, while standing on my corpse to do it! :(

Is that KSing? I don't know. At the very least it was incredibly ignorant of the person.

Needless to say, I haven't got the page yet because it's been camped ever since. Here's to hoping!

If you do this quest the hard way then where does the empty book come from? When you read the above it never mentions this. I have been doing this quest out of order (I got the two pages before traveling to Erudin...I am at level 19 and I killed Dyllin...it was a super ugly, "don't try this at home" killing). I fear if I go back to Qenyos I will suffer the big KOS upon entering. I've done a few quests prior to this one that have me in the sights of the corrupt guards. Now I bet even Moodoro would take a swing at me. I would prefer to go to Erudin via teleport and just snag an empty book but if I am going to have to jump through a bunch of hoops then I might take my chances with the bruisers in Qeynos. One other quick question...what does "LOIO" mean?

After killin Dyllin and a smuggler, I was KOS to a highpass citizen. I was lvl 21 and could just handle Dyllin and the smuggler who conned blue to me, but not the highpass citizen that conned red.

I had been camping Dyllin on and off for a while. I was walking through HH earlier one morning, and decided to check if he was there. He was, but i caught up to him about halfway up the path to the water. I decided to follow him, and he walked all the way to the edge of the water. So I cast snare on him, and jumped into the water. Swam underneath, and he followed. Didnt have to deal with the other smugglers at all.

I finally killed this Dylan Starsine this morning. No lie, he is as everyone says very hard to kill because he is always camped and only spawns every 7.5 hours. Well last night at 12:30am, someone told me they had just killed him. So I set my alarm clark for 7:45 this morning. Got up, logged on, and by the time I had finished buffing myself... BUMB, there he was. I tried to kill him twice myself, but root would not hold and he would run to his buddy smugglers and they would kill me. So finally, I did a who and found a SK dark elf of the 30th season. I asked if he would help for 10 plat, he agreed. It was cake then. Now all I have left to do is go to Qeynos to get the other page and the book. Then, pa dank, the testament is mine.

anyone know the rarity of the page dylin drops? havnt heard the rarity on any of the posts. does he drop it every time or sometimes or what?

I just finished this quest at lvl 22. It took me all of 30 minutes and about 4 pp to complete. I must have gotten lucky because I just walked into the camp and snared and nuked the guy... no camping needed!- could've been because it was early morning on the weekend too- I got the jester on my 5th or 6th try and that was it! highly recomended :-)

If you are looking to camp Dyllin, and a patch is coming in the near future, jump on right after the patch. And low and behold there he is, no camping needed. I know you want it when you want it, but if a patch happens you know what to do.

I had camped this camp a few other times late at night like 2-3am and eventually gave up out of boredom, having nobody to share the camp with. That was at 19, when I first got careless. Then, yesterday, I hear some guy yelling he just killed Dyllin while in LOIO. I noted the time, added 6 and a half hours, gave myself an extra hour for error, and dreamed feverishly. That night, I leveled my semitwink SK (all he got is kodiak claws, mammoth hide legs and 12 plat) from 1st to 3rd with the help of passing druids, and when the hour came near, I logged on my 24 druid, ported to NK (It was 8pm) and ran as a wolf to High Pass. My wolf form was conned warmly by guards and smugglers alike, and I worked out how to do it. I would cast my coat and skin, levitate (for quick exit out the side, to zone into the keep - with spirit of cheetah just in case), then harmony all the smugglers. I would then follow the red smuggler, whose route I knew from reading here and previous experience until he left on the last leg to the waters edge. After that, the 24 level root, and careless. Well, nobody crashed my party (except some guy who ran thru real fast) and it worked out perfect! The red guy started on his last leg as soon as I was done harmonizing, but the root gave way and he kept interrupting my careless. I was sweating that the big daddy smuggler would return to find me and Dyllin together, but finally he ran, and as my last careless felled him, the red guy comes out and walks right over Dyllins corpse. lol!

I just finished the ToV quest. I begun the quest in Highpass, camping for Dylin Starshine. He spawns in a camp with a bunch of smugglers. To get to him, you must swim into a tunnel which you can find in the pond near the Tiger's Roar (#4 on EQ atlas map). His spawn spot is under a tent near a kiln, oven, and pottery wheel.

For me, he spawned in just over 4 hours (I was told he had been killed just as I began to camp). Luckily, one of my very good druid friends had appeared just before he spawned, as he wanted to camp Dylin too. We both were able to kill Dylin quite quickly. It is important that you make sure the red smuggler is out of sight. He walks over by the water (where you come out of) and back. This gives you about a two minute time frame. There are also other smugglers (which are blue and green). Harmony them if you can.

Once he's dead, loot his page, and head over to Qeynos. You will find a Moodoro Finharn in N. Qeynos. Tell him, "I want page 34" and he will ask you to play a card game. Give him 4gp and he will deal you a card. Do that until you get the Jester. Give the jester back to him, and he will give you the second page. Give him 2gp and he will give you the book container. Combine the two pages in the book, and you have the ToV. Gives you +10 WIS and +10 MANA. Great for all you Wisdom casters!

Also.... be careful of your faction with the corrupt Qeynos guards. It will take a hit when you kill Dylin. I killed Milna Clothspinner in EK (on the other side of the ramp to Highpass.. instead of going up on the right, stay on the left). That improved my faction with the corrupt guards. When I reached Qeynos, I was amiable to the good guards, and dubious to the corrupt ones. No problems at all.

It is better than the Charred Gaurdian Shield without the ac, but it looks alot cooler. I was lvl 29 when I did this quest. I wrathed him for 198 dmg, he ran around the circumfrince of the room and by the time he was near me I had a stun casted. He gets stunned for about 6 seconds, which is enough time to nuke him again.

Just something I noticed on the Prexus Server.. the level 40ish smuggler's name is actualy 's smuggler'. I am sure it is just a type that was made on our server. )

I finally got around to finishing this quest today. I had the two other parts (the empty book and the page from Qeynos). It seemed like everytime I went to HHP, Dyllin was camped, so I would always turn and run, to keep myself from going insane. Anyway, I get there today, and he wasn't camped. Lucky me. I sat down and started playing Gems (I am now addicted to that game, god dammit!).

Hmmmm....what else? Oh, here's a tip. Always keep See Invis up. Always. You'd be surprised how many people come up there invised just waiting to KS you. The first guy I found invis only came out when he went LD. After that, See Invis stayed up the entire time. When you see someone, just Hail them. It's funny to see how they react.
