I read these posts that say, "Just camo..." Well, one thing for everyone to be aware of, is that the Undead see through camo. So, if you think you are just going to camo your way into the castle, you will get a surprise when a Thought Corrupter pops your camo and everything aggros on you.
Case in point, I camo'd and camped in the Butler's room. The next time I was on, I logged on an Alt to see what the EQ time was. 10AM. Undead should all be gone (I was thinking that MM was like Kithcor). I logged on my character, was still camo'd in the Butler's room, but an undead was there and she saw through it, attacked, and popped my camo. That aggro'd the Gargoyle in the room.
So, don't be thinking that Camo/invis is the surefire solution. Always be aware of your surroundings

Just finished this quest last night, here is my experience:
I solo camped the Maid and Butler in Mistmoore part of the time, had friends other times. Took me 3 days of a few hours a day to get the fangs and then turn them in for EBW. I ended up with a few Nightshade Wreaths at the end and I just traded a wreath for an Adamantite Band with someone in my guild. Saved me the trouble of Guk.
To get the Burnt Sash, I went into Sol B and sent an OOC saying I would help someone else kill Imps for no exp just to get the sash. 5 minutes after I met up with a high lvl monk and his healing partner, on the first pull I had the sash. To leave Sol B, you can just jump in the lava and hit /q. You are warped to zoneline.
I then did the questing stuff to get the final item, 'a gift'. I had a bit of difficulty starting the quest in Kelethin, I kept tweaking my lines until I was given the quest. BTW, the Ashwoods are on the platform above the bank platform.
The ranger master is simply 'Kithicor' an NPC who conned red to me in Kith Forest.
Once I had the stuff, I proceeded to Ganelorn in EK. I brought myself (50 Ranger), 53 Ranger, 53 Ranger, 56 Bard, 53 Cleric, and 41 Rogue. Two other lower level guildies came by just to whack on the mob too. Vance Bearstalker is lvl 53, but he is an overcon in my opinion. He hits relatively quickly, but his damage tops out at 110 and was frequently near 30. Noone came close to dying, but he does summon the casters and if the melees have trouble holding aggro, things might be harder. With 3 hasted rangers in our group, aggro was no problem, hehe.
All around, this was a fun quest. My favorite since Ivy questing. Can't wait to use my new spell, although I wish the /em for the spell was cooler than just the same as any Ignite spell.

Hey, the programmers make the rules and we're forced to follow them. If the programmers leave a loophole in, they need to pay a little more attention to detail. Tis what they get paid for (we pay them for.)

I used "I will take him the letter" to make Lily give the beginning part of the quest. This worked after having some confusion on getting her to give me the quest.

the reason you have to be level 50 for this level 49 spell quest is because you will damn right de-level while trying to solo the Maid/Butler in mistmoore!!

I soloed the maid/butler at 50. This camp is easy to break as long as you do not aggro the Ancille Cooks who will quickly drop your Hps.
Here is how I do it: Camo to the hallway that is next to Butler room. Stand so that door to kitchen (cook room) is ahead and to the right, while you are facing down hallway towards butler room. There should be a mob standing where the hallway has a branch that heads right towards Maid room door. There are two other mobs, both should be out of sight in that hall that leads to Maid. Harmony the mob at junction. Snare pull back to outside kitchen door. Solo next to kitchen door. Med/heal up. Head to junction with invis, uninvis and root whichever hall mob is melee. Solo the other. Re-root melee. This gives time between next set of pops. Make sure while fighting that you do not get too close to Butler or Maid door as you may aggro them to the hallway. Solo the melee. Now you have the hall cleared.
Inside the butler room are two mobs, gargoyle on left and some other mob on right. If you stand to the right of door, you can open door and see only the gargoyle, other mob out of sight. I could snare pull the gargoyle and fall backwards to hallway without aggroing the rightside mob. This worked every time as long as I stayed on rightside of door. Solo gargoyle. Med/heal, solo Butler or PH.
This process works exactly the same with Maid room, but you stay on left of door rather than right. For me, the maid spawned several times, but dropped 4 Nightshade wreaths and one fang. The butler spawned less, but dropped the fang on third spawn.

2 words man, guild raid. Get a decent group with you there, camp out the 'rents. No problem. And while you're at it, the Mistmoore Battle drums drop right down the hall. So far I've got the Butler's Fang, Maid Issis is refusing to give me hers. Guess I just need to be a bit more convincing. Butler dropped it on the second spawn. Ranger buddy of mine in the guild and I rolled on it. He was mad as hell when he lost 20-17...I would be too though.
I soloed the maid and butler was a little hard but i did it. camoed my way back to spawn and pulled one by one the spawns in the area and broke up the times and camp it:-) the 1st time i had some help killing spawns in area but after solo.

For the mistmoore quest and the two vampire-parents killing :

It's not an "easy fight", as you always have 2 or 3 mobs on you during it, but if handled properly (root-parking the adds), you can camp the two parents (with a healing break after the first one) and heal/med/buff while waiting for the next spawn (28 minutes).
I'm ending each fights with 30h and 50m, approximatly.
Butler is a SK and opens with a 350HT (or something like that). After that, he's a piece of cake.
Maid is a necro and can be nasty. If you don't have some basic magic resistance gear, you are toasted (she will fear you and make you run outside her chamber into the other mobs... Game over). She will poison-bolt you also.
I Got Maid's fang at the first kill ; I was pretty extatic.
I still need to find Butler's fang, though. Killed him 3 times already, and only got necklaces. I guess it's just a question of time...
Good luck in this quest fellow rangers.

A trick that has worked for me with Necro's is to do speed control.
1) No Sow.
2) Walk, not run.
3) I have only done this twice when i was sure that i would win if fear did not drive me to pull other mobs. Snare yourself. Yes it is risky, but it worked. Did not leave the room before it wore off. Had the nec snared so it did not get arround me.

You know, I hate to be negative, but this is a fairly pain-in-the-**** quest for this spell. I waited for the 52 flame DD spell and haven't missed it at all. And I *LIKE* questing. What I don't like is waiting eighty hours for a spot at the Maid/Butler to open (and they drop the fang five percent of the time). Don't like that after alllllll that work, you still need a full group to take out the last mob. If this quest was for a level 55 plus spell, fine. But it's a 49 spell.
I think Verant maybe goofed this one up too much. Just my opinion. No need to flame.

Try to keep in mind that this spell came out before Kunark and 50+ levels so it WAS a very nice upgrade to the rangers ******* of spells. Even now it cast faster and is fairly mana effecient.

You cant buy the spell in iceclad ocean. i repeat CAN NOT. i believe the spell he is refering to is Call of Sky, not the same thing as any good ranger would know. besides, what would be the point of having it be questable and purchased? lol. dont make sense, even for verant. hehe

I'm afraid you must be thinking of a different spell. This is a quest only spell. A level 49 spell that one can only acquire and use post-50. It's rather long and involved and features a fairly tough mob at the end. I like quests a lot and I decided to skip this one. /shrug

Somone asked if the proacher can be soloed. I certainlz doubt that. Even the druids, as ueber as tehy are, would have serious problems with this guy since he can summon. And just bash the druid to pieces. Remember a mob can summon at will and without limitations.
So all in all i would not recommend to solo him.

mobs cannot solo at will, there are timers which let them summon, almost like a monk and his flying kick or sk's with bash or which ever skill it is they get =) the time varies from zone to zone ranging in the 1-20 second area the tougher the mob the shorter the timer on the summoning

If I;m not istaken the scroll is no drop or lore (I remember hearing this not wanting ot camp the hand for the band, though its a very faint memery) in that case I doubt you'd want to, it would be a wastew of time.

It's not really odd.
This spell has been around since before Kunark. The level limit was 50 back then, and this was the last spell rangers would get. But you had to be 50.

Here a short note of my experiences. I ead the other notes and it helped a lot. thx to all that posted here :) Get the quest stuff. Not too hard. Sash is droped in Sol B. You can most likely loot it for free. Adamantie band in hand in lower guk. Not worth the effort. Simplz buz it in gfay. I think i paind 200 or 300 for mine. Do the quest to gett he gift. The sword hmmmm i paied 1.4k for both vamp theeth. I suggest that u go to MM and camp the room wiht a group. U can use that weapon when u are aorund level 30. and then put it into use as quest item later. saves u money. ok now to the important part.

Ok.. the mob is over level 50. Vance can summon !!! He was blue to me at 55. He hits hard. And i mean hard. Get yourself a good tank and buff up wiht care before u attack. He aggors very easy on casters. So keep him snared and rooted all the time. He has a pretty good ammount of hp. So bve rdy to invest a bit of time.
He cannot cast. So dont worry about a surprise.
Ok one last thing. We camped near the river. I handed the stuff in. Then Vance spawned and i had him on track in an instant. Pulled him wiht arrows to the river and off we go. Only time it was close was when our druid ladz got summond. Thanksto your fast clerics she made it.
Ok our group was rng, war, pally,cleric, cleric, druid. all from 47 to 55. Our caster where way out of mana afterwards but we did ok.
DO NOT try to solo him. EVen in a team you are toast. Always get a full team.
To the spell. Compared to firestrike its not that good. Mana costs 125 and the recast time is a bit higher i htink. But the great advantege is the low cast time of only 2.0. VERZ handy when u need to intterupt an npc caster. Its a spell definetly worth having. It enabels u to react more flexibel to the situation.

Here a short note of my experiences. I ead the other notes and it helped a lot. thx to all that posted here :) Get the quest stuff. Not too hard. Sash is droped in Sol B. You can most likely loot it for free. Adamantie band in hand in lower guk. Not worth the effort. Simplz buz it in gfay. I think i paind 200 or 300 for mine. Do the quest to gett he gift. The sword hmmmm i paied 1.4k for both vamp theeth. I suggest that u go to MM and camp the room wiht a group. U can use that weapon when u are aorund level 30. and then put it into use as quest item later. saves u money. ok now to the important part.

Ok.. the mob is over level 50. Vance can summon !!! He was blue to me at 55. He hits hard. And i mean hard. Get yourself a good tank and buff up wiht care before u attack. He aggors very easy on casters. So keep him snared and rooted all the time. He has a pretty good ammount of hp. So bve rdy to invest a bit of time.
He cannot cast. So dont worry about a surprise.
Ok one last thing. We camped near the river. I handed the stuff in. Then Vance spawned and i had him on track in an instant. Pulled him wiht arrows to the river and off we go. Only time it was close was when our druid ladz got summond. Thanksto your fast clerics she made it.
Ok our group was rng, war, pally,cleric, cleric, druid. all from 47 to 55. Our caster where way out of mana afterwards but we did ok.
DO NOT try to solo him. EVen in a team you are toast. Always get a full team.
To the spell. Compared to firestrike its not that good. Mana costs 125 and the recast time is a bit higher i htink. But the great advantege is the low cast time of only 2.0. He is 53 and not magic resistant. We did him with a ranger 50, Cleric 52 & 45, Druids 51 50 and 45. It was an easy fight and the second snare took and almsot all DD hit for full.

you must be lvl 50 to do this quest ?? a higher lvl (ranger) cant ??

no, they mean a 49 and below can't get the people to talk to them to do the quest. anything 50 and over can do it. :)
