Why else would this game continue to get more and more rediculous, like not being able to use Levitation or SOW in certin zones?? Or removing a quest for a good item because people have found that its not too difficult, then put extremely difficult quests for armor that is sub par at BEST in the game? Or making some of the epic quest items nearly impossible to get. Let us not forget class dependancy?? Verant wants you to waste time, such as waiting hours for mobs to pop that you may need for a quest, or wasting time waiting for a rezz or waiting to get into a group. Face it, wasting time on EQ means that the life of your account is extended thus you keep paying for the same account and verant makes more money.. Lets remove the jaded shields from our eyes, verant claims that by having extremely difficult quests and restricting certin magical abilities for no aparent reason is to make the game more "challenging", Tell me, where is the challenge in sitting around for 20+ hours waiting for a mob to spawn so that you can kill him for a quest you happen to be doing? Thats not a challenge, its stupidity, its diabolic manipulation.
I lotted a mark of animals off of a berserk rockhopper tonight in dawnshroud peaks, killed several other named and a ton of regular rockhoppers, no other jewles or marks dropped from anything. does anyone know or suspect that the twilight armor will be better than ivy or comparable?

Just my 2cp worth to add to what others have posted. I've had 3 quest items drop and all 3 of them were off mobs with unusual names. For example: In a zone dominated by "small, Large , and (normal ) zelniaks", I've had drops form a "tenacious zelniak", and an "enraged zelniak". Can't remember what the third one was named, but it was different from all other simalar greatures in the zon. So keep track up and kill anything unusual. Other players have told me about similar drops in other zones, so the items dont seem to be zone specific. hope this helps. btw dont forget to trde useless items with other players. I have a statue for the rog armor im willing to trade for something I can use. look for me on VZ

Ok, this is Athief Legacy on my friends account. Athief Legacy, 57 Druid Bristlebane, Guild Leader of Vagrants of Fate. While PL'ing my 8 day old 43 ( just about 44 ) Cleric, I stumbled upon a coterie rival ( this camp is as you exit Katta the second one along the wall LEFT as you exit the city ). I decided to kill it seeing as I've NEVER seen him before on track here in Tenebrous Mountains. So I pull the darned Vampyre and send him back to the grave. He dropped the Mark of Forests. So sitting there I say to myself..., " I've seen the Marks spoken of, but where????" I then freak out and jump on this P.C. only to find that YES Twilight Armor speaks of it. In fact... NOW the Rangers have something to track and kill. For once we actually HELP them. Good luck on the rest ya'll. Safe Journeys and keep your heads up.

Mark of Lakes-Grol Baku Lake Worker (Twilight)
Mark of Purity-Blessed Underbulk (Twilight)
Mark of Archery-Sinister Shadow (Twilight)
Ancient Relic of Tzon-Frenzied Darkwing Bat (Tenbrous Mountains)
True Silver Idol-Frenzied Wolf (Dawnshroud Peaks)
If anyone has any info about the Mark of Archery and what quest it is supposed to go to please post...not listed with any of the ranger gear on here.
There were also some other named things in Twilight that I haven't killed yet so will update once I have more info.
Most of the above mobs were light blue to high blue to me at 50th; the Sinister Shadow was an especially big pain to kill.

gems are rare drops and drop off of random creatures on luclin. any creature is capable of droppin a jewel. note as well that the jewels are lore/magic and several pieces require the same jewel so you will likely have to go back and get another after using one up on an armor piece

I'de like to start and say that the mail is probly a good place for us all to post and gather our research.
I have been fighting in dawnshroud and so far have gotten three peices.
The astral jewel which dropped off a blood starved wolf that spawns as a trap directly to the left of the maidens eye cave. Not sure if it only drops on him, but it was a rare drop (killed him several times).
I also killed two named wolfs, prowling and something else. I got a mark of true self and a mark of truth (both not the ranger).
I tracked down and killed a tribal prowler (named grey wolf, not dark like others) but it did not drop anything and i took a faction hit with the tribals (those guys right outside madens, tribal gatherers and such)
I have been exculsivly animal fear kiting in dawnshroud and will report back with any other drops i get in the area.

Ok here is the deal: After extensive board skimming, I have found that most if not ALL jewels are dropping in Dawnshroud Peaks off of Shrooms and Wolves. Other Hot spots to kill are the secret Lair in Twilight, Scarlet desert(Drops off of Cheetahs Grol Baku's I think and other things.) Marks are also dropping in Dawnshroud as well as Tenebrous mountains off of the Coterie vampires I think but not sure and marks I have seen are dropping in Dawnshroud as well as SD. Some of the other items are dropping a lot in SD(Scarlet Desert).
Recap:
