Groflah Steadirt spawns at 7 PM game time at location -1097.37, -1105.24 at the Seafearer's Roost in East Freeport.

    You say, 'Hail, Groflah Steadirt'

Groflah Steadirt says 'Greetings, ______! Join in the [celebration]! Have a few drinks. Alas, there are no [Tumpy Tonics].'

    You say, 'What celebration?'

Groflah Steadirt says 'The Freeport Militia now has a bar to themselves. Luckily, it is not this one. Ahh... I tell you, I just don't feel up to much right now. I have had so much grog, my great grandma could best me!'

You say, 'What are Tumpy Tonics?'

Groflah Steadirt says 'Tumpy Tonics are great! I used to drink them often in a bar in Kaladim. Kind of glad they don't serve it here. I could not stop drinking them and they would cause me to constantly drain the dragon. I get tired of running to the docks for that reason.'

You may follow the quest to make Tumpy Tonics or just craft them. Upon hand-in:

Groflah Steadirt says '<glug, glug, glug> Ahh! I missed those. I was just telling myself the other... Uh oh! I have to use the little dwarf's facilities. Excuse me.'

The only thing you have to do is take the kiola nuts to tumpy irontoe in kaladim, give him one water and one kiola nut and he makes them for free. You only spend around 2 a nut and I spent 28 pp and made 162 of them.

I can make 10 stacks of tumpy's for around 200pp, and i know that those ten stacks will get a very good darkie friend of mine good enough faction to walk freely in north freeport. on the other hand, he is lvl 21, and has killed each and every single orc pawn that he has seen since level 5 or so when he found out about the whole faction deal. so either you can kill orcs for 20 levels, or for 200pp you can get a master brewer to make ya enough tonics to get un KoS in a day. so maybe over rated yeah, but not VERY over rated. all depends on the variables. this is an awesome quest for darkies to be sure.
This quest is VERY over-rated. Needs to be adjusted down to

First, Kiola nuts cost about 1 platinum each, and the quest reward is Faction and barely visible experience at lvl 1.

Secondly, brewing a tonic requires well over 100 Brewing skill for a quest that is (now) targetted at level 1 players, this is pathetic.

[see Note to Janam, Note to Rebby, Frikniller Family quests for more suitable low lvl and faction quests here.]

The above listed quests give all of the same factions except KnightsOfTruth which increases with every Commons/Freeport orc killed, and MerchantsOfQeynos which increases with every Qeynos/Blackburrow/Everfrost Gnoll killed.

Kiola nuts are 1pp each? I buy them on Sister Island for a bit over 2gp each (for the Stein of Moggok quest).

OK, many valid points but...as a HEF rogue conning indif with a 75 cha, the nuts cost 206cp. The tonic trivializes at 135 according to various web sites, obvoiusly not a level 1 brewing task.

I did not make the brew, rather i went to Kalidim (sp) and had tumpy make them for me. I dont plan to use the tonics for my rogue. I want them for my DE Necro who is KOS with all of the faction listed on this page. I heard this gives much more faction than just killing hundreds/thousands of orcs.

Can anyone confirm the relative quantity of faction?

The faction is pretty good. A stack took my DE Necro to dubious with the paladins, and to apprehensive with the city merchants.

I saw him last night on the docks getting attacked by a guard. This was around 9 pm AZ time.
So he's around but not always in the bar, I guess.

What ever happened to Frumpy Irontoe? he was the one who originally told me about the Tumpy Tonic's quest, and he sits in the place that the Dark elf chick takes. I haven't seen him since he gave me the quest but dangit I wrote his name down and it def. wasn't Groflah!

It HAS to be at the bar, he has placeholders so either kill them or wait for them to despawn
do you have to do this in the bar

The quest to MAKE tonics at Tumpy in Kaladim did and still does give approx 1000 exp per tonic. The quest to GIVE tonics to Groflah used to give 3750 exp, but now gives 5 (yes, FIVE).
    Drastically?
    # Jul 25 2000 at 10:54 AM Rating: Decent
Drastically reduced the xp is an understatement. I just gave him 30 tonics at lvl 6 and my xp bar didnt even move. Before at this lvl about four tonics would yield one bubble of xp .. i guess its back to the hunting grounds for me.

I have had no problems killing the dark elf chick that spawns in his spot, if you do, he will usually spawn. But you have to clear the spawn spot by about 10PM. Also they have drastically reduced the amount of xp you recieve from completing this quest, but the faction is great.

    kill placeholder
    # Jul 12 2000 at 1:18 PM Rating: Decent

There's a placeholder you have to kill. In the bar, there are numerous spawnings and de-spawnings. If you kill the barbarian, (can't recall his name, stands away from the bar) Groflah will spawn an hour or two later (game time). I did it, and it worked perfectly.

On the other hand, be VERY careful trying to kill Groflah. I took a crack at it, and his buddies jumped in to save him while he ran to get the guards just outside... it got ugly quickly...
Cannot get him to spawn in the bar
    # Jul 12 2000 at 3:03 AM Rating: Decent
I waited through three nights for him. I did give him the letter and he did not show up. Any ideas??
