    You say, 'Hail, Shazda Kaekwon'

Shazda Kaekwon says 'Shalom, _____! I welcome you to our humble village in these [trying times].

    You say, 'What trying times?'

Shazda Kaekwon says 'There are many threats currently facing this village. The kobolds of Clan Kolbok are becoming bolder in pushing the boundaries of the territory in which they usually hunt. A few of the kobolds now hunt recklessly, killing for pleasure instead of sustenance. [Rognarog] the Infuriated is the most murderous of such kobolds. Then there are the [heretics] that have been invading both Clan Kolbok and Kejek territories alike, practicing their dark sorceries as a show of devotion to their faceless god.

You say, 'What about the Heretics?'

Shazda Kaekwon says 'The heretics have not only corrupted their own spirits but they defile the spirits of the dead with their evil sorceries. Fill this satchel with the heads of invading heretics and I shall reward you for your allegiance to Kejek.

Receive Burlap Satchel. Inside it, combine four Heretic Heads (any combination of male and female heads works). Then hand in the Satchel of Heretic Heads.

Shazda Kaekwon says 'Less heretics to defile the lands and spirits. You have the gratitude of Kejek for your assistance in repelling the heretic threat.'

Your faction standing with Kejek Village has been adjusted by 8.
Your faction standing with Peace Keepers has been adjusted by 1.
    You gain experience!!
You receive 8 copper from Shazda Kaekwon.
You receive 7 gold from Shazda Kaekwon.
You receive 3 platinum from Shazda Kaekwon.

Sometimes you may receive Kejekan Tribal Headband or Swiftclaw Sash. These are not common, however.

Ok, I have seen that people have been killing "heretics". My question is, are they called Heretics or are they all named.

Also, is there a general area that they spawn in, or is it the whole zone?

I know others have asked this, but there is no real answer to these question anywhere in the posts. Some people kinda of talk about this while answering other questions.

    Thanks,

The exact name is "a heretic invader". Already got 3 of the pesky headbands, still hoping for the sash someday. :p On the bright side, got a nice shiny new wakizashi meanwhile killing pandas just for exp while waiting for heretics to spawn, and I'm working on a second wak now. That should give you some idea how long it can take to get 4 heretic heads together. ;)

On a side note, I was worried that the heretics would stop dropping their heads for me if I got another level or two meanwhile (which I did), but they've removed trivial loot code there now, which I have mixed feelings about, but at least I can hope to get this sash still.

I have researched and found common info. that their area of spawning is south of kitty city - left and right of it - south to water.

So far there are no mobs that I know of that give + faction with the Kejekans when you kill them. You maybe out of luck in not being able to get your faction up.

Hello all, Shimmera checking back in. Well I finally got the Sash on the eighth attempt. I was overjoyed to finally rid myself of Stonebrunt.

Advice to those about to try this quest for the Sash: you might get lucky and get one quickly. However you should be aware that the Sash is not trivial to get and can take many tries. Tracking is essential if you aren't lucky.

By the way, I parsed the Sash haste to 13%. Authorities say it's more like 15%, and given the imperfections of my testing techniques I could definitely see this. Good luck.

Got a second sash the second time completing the quest - yeah I know it's lore, that's what (VERY GOOD) friends are for. 104 cha turning in the heads both times. Anyone that's gotten it first try or had repeated headbands want to post their cha for comparison?

I've been in the zone on and on for a few lvl's, and have come across the heretics by chance. I finally got four of the heads, 3 male 1 female and went to the bank for the sachel i got on the first day of StoneBrunt.
I went and turned them in during the afternoon about 4pm est and low and behold i got a sash : ) note: this is my first time trying this quest out sorry guys.
I did however see what item they fixed.
when i got the sachel on the first day it was an 8 item bag and now i see it is a 4 item bag.

Hello, I am a level 40 Ranger still trying to get the Sash. I've attempted this quest a whopping 6 times and am one head away from what will undoubtably be another frigging headband.

Anyway, if I get another headband with this attempt I will surpass Treehugga (who has a great post down below) as the unluckiest documented person to do this quest. That'll be a ludicrous 7 failures.

I was wondering if anyone will be able to top this record. Please post your bad luck runs in this quest so I can compare.

there is a named heretic with the last name soulslayer that is a shadowknight. he conned blue to my ranger at lvl 38 and was kind of tough. When i tried him i started with maybe 30 mana. I was able to land snare and root with some resistance. Had to bolt the first fight. when i returned he was beating up on a 39 druid who had an untimely add and we finished him off together.
I might mention that this is a great zone for midthirties rangers. I went from lvl 36 to 39 here. i have completed the quest 3 times. One sash (4female heads) and two headbands. The heretics i have found fall between p500 and n3000 on north south coordinate.

I did this quest to get the sash for my monk, I sat out where I had the fishermen on track, it took me several hours but I finally got the heretic heads, 2 female and 2 male. Got the sash on the first try. The reason I'm posting this is because I just want to let you know the trival rules do not apply to the quest even tho some of the loot maybe affected you always get the head.

Very simple, the trivial loot code only prevents magic and lore items to appear on the corpse, the heads are just heads.

You don't want to try to kite a necro that casts 190+ poison dd's, so your best bet may be to pair up with a melee type that can't really do the quest without sow/tracking and alternate looting the heads. Also, if you want to do this quest at 25 keep endure disease and endure poison on :)

Or get someone with cancel magic to help out. A magician with an air pet can help keep the necro interrupted, and a mage has cancel magic. A mage would be happy to get that headband, too. Nudge nudge, wink wink.

got the 4th head yesterday afternoon, got a sash on the first time completing the quest ... bout 20 hours PT (and 4 deaths) in the zone with a 32 - 34 ranger.

    Possibly useful information:
Had gotten a soulforge hammer and a pair of Wakizashis, still indiff but at least a little above base indiff
Still had my +cha gear equipped from selling ... heard a rumor that good cha increases faction movement, anyone know?

Because someone asked and I don't want to add a 2nd post:
    Faction for killing heretics =
    - Heretics
    + Deepwater Knights
    + Gatecallers
    + Craft Keeper
    + Crimson Hands

    My question:
Has anyone gotten above indiff faction with the kitties?
I'd love to find a use for those no drop gorilla fangs, excellent gorilla hides, etc.

PS. When the ^&%* are we going to see haste pcts listed on items? Certainly as or more important to an item's value in the player economy and harder to determine than the weight reduction pct on a container.
    Heretics and Rewards
    # Oct 12 2001 at 11:17 AM Rating: Decent
I've tried the quest several times, using the 2f,2m heads/1m 3f heads/1f 3m heads..got the headband every time. It seems the reward is based simply on random luck. I have been plotting the kills of the heretics on the map of the zone, and while I have found heretics all over the zone,(within a certain North/South perameter) the majority have been around a point at n2000,n1000. All of the heretics I've found seem to have been South of the p500 line and North of the n3000 line. I wouldn't even bother trying to find them without a character with a large tracking radius at your disposal. I have gone 12 hours running tracking patterns over the zone without finding one, and I have found 2 within an hour and a half, so they don't seem to be on a regular spawn cycle, perhaps a PH is part of the key.. It seems the BEST chances of finding a heretic occur when your health is down to 1 bub, and you are OOM, with lots of Pandas around....lol...

Heretics con blue and green to a lvl 34. My advice is that you will be wasting a huge amount of time if you go to this zone with the sole purpose of obtaining a Sash. If you handle disappoinment well, and have other things to do in the zone while you are there, its worth rolling the dice on.

Just wondering if anyone has tried this sash and can give any accurate opnion as to the effect %. I have heard that is compares or is better than the FBSS (which I doubt). The Heritics are so hard to find that I have all but given up on this quest until I reach higher levels and also until I can return with a tracker.

Just tryed today. Yes the heretics are hard to find and with all the mobs in this zone they don't last long. This combo didn't work. 3 male , 1 female in the lower left corner. Only netted me the headband

I just got a Sash on my first try last night, and figure I'll tell you how I did it. (no promises this'll work though)
Step1) Kill 2 Male and 2 Female Heretics
Step2) Place the 2 male heads in the RIGHT slots of the bag, and the 2 Female heads in the LEFT slots of the bag.
Step3) HIT COMBINE (if I need to tell you this, please, cancel your account, format your hard-drive, and send me your computer)
    Step4) Turn in bag
Step5) If you are as lucky as I am...you get a Sash!

I assume that if they're dubious they don't give the reward or faction, as they won't give the quest.

What are the faction hits for these heretics? The quest gives positive faction with the Peacekeepers and Kejek, and I'd guess killing the Heretics lowers faction with the Forsaken, but does it raise faction with the kitties at all? I REALLY want those balls of yarn for PvP. Why oh why, couldn't Dark Elves get sneak instead of hide as their racial ability?

I think these bad boys are Shadow Knights. I killed one yesterday, and he was green to me at 35. He went down with 3 combusts (182dd, if you were wondering) - didn't cast on me at all. He only slashed me a couple times. I don't think he's a necro because he didn't have a pet, and he had a fair number of hitpoints.

The heretics are casters, Enchanter or SK I believe. I have had fear cast on me, and watch out for the DoT. Nothing like finishing off a tough fight, glancing at your health bar and thinking "oh good, still a full bubble of health" and then keeling over dead a minute later, never realizing the stupid thing cast a DoT on my stupid butt. Doh. They conned blue to me at 31, but I think they con like Dorn and those stupid Indigo brothers, a bit lower than they should. They definitely are not easy to kill, they hit hard and cast all sorts of nasty stuff. Hope that helps a bit. Oh, and be sure to use levitate, nothing like running and falling off a cliff to your death, LOL.
