Your faction with Claws of Veeshan must be kindly, otherwise Kardakor will take the head and give you nothing in return.

You say, 'Hail Ralgyn'

Ralgyn says 'Hello Rombus, what brings you to these sacred quarters on this day? If it is treasure that you seek please ask someone else for I do not have time to think of such petty things. My worries are much greater at this time I am afraid.

You say, 'what are your worries?'

Ralgyn says 'Well I suppose I can tell you of my promise if you are willing to listen as I do not feel you have intentions of using anything I tell you against my dragonkin. Not many can walk these quarters unless they are very trusted amongst us.

You say, 'what was your promise?'

Ralgyn says 'I made a promise a very long time ago to my wingmate Faliana, a promise that I feel I may have broken.

You say, 'how was your promise broken?'

Ralgyn says 'I promised my dear Faliana that I would always keep her talisman close to me. If something has happened to my son I must retain his talisman so that I may keep Faliana's Talisman secure, as I promised her I always would. Before she perished she split her talisman into two pieces one of which I always will carry and the other half which my son Glanitar carries. My son has not returned to me for some time and I am deeply concerned for this is not normal behavior for him. I fear something must have happened to him for he has never been so involved in his training to not inform me of his whereabouts or to not come visit.

You say, 'what was his training?'

Ralgyn says 'It seems like it was only yesterday that my only son Glanitar was practicing his skills as a young Wurm. Before long he quickly mastered many fighting skills and the development of his magical skills rapidly progressed. He was coming along so well in his training that he was quickly drafted for the Patrol. Even when he was away for his training he would often return to me and tell me of his progress. I was very proud of him for his involvement with the Patrol. Although I am very proud of his accomplishments, I have not seen him for longer then I have ever been away from him and I fear for the worst.

You say, 'what is the patrol?'

Ralgyn says 'Ah yes, the patrol. Well in the Great Divide there is a collection of caves that the dragonkind holds as a sacred territory. For this reason we always have a number of our strongest up and coming younger ones train there with the great [Kardakor]. They patrol the caved labyrinth to make sure it is free from unwanted intruders who are quickly dealt with upon discovery.

You say, 'who is kardakor?'

Ralgyn says 'Kardakor is a strong and powerful Warrior. He has fought in many battles against the vile Giants and is well respected amongst our people as a champion. For this reason when one was needed to train our young fighters seeking guidance in developing both their magical and fighting techniques it was clear to us who we should select for this honor, Kardakor.

Now, head to Great Divide and seek out Kardakor. He's located in the wurm caves to the right of the area where the Guardian Wurms live.

You say, 'Hail Kardakor'

Kardakor says 'Hello Rombus . It is not very often that I see adventurers back in this cave unless they have intentions of hurting the kind wurms here. I can only hope that for your sake that your intentions are good.

You say, 'i am looking for glanitar'

Kardakor says 'Glanitar? It has been quite long sense I have seen Glanitar, I fear that something unfortunate has become of him. It is not like him at all to be away for this long. He was out on normal patrol with a few others when they disappeared. We have not heard from any of them.

You say, 'where did they disappear?'

Kardakor says 'This, I do not know. There are a few Giant forces that I have heard word of moving into the area. It is tough to say where they could have gone and if something happened to them or not who would be to blame. I highly doubt the Coldain would dare attack one of our units. The last I heard of them was when they left for the patrol of the Divide; this could have been anywhere. I remember that Glanitar carries a talisman from his mother. If you are to find any sign of Glanitar or any of the others please come to me first along with something that would symbolize who you received or took it from.'

From here get a group of 12, 55+ people or one good group of 60s. Find Taskmaster Aboytt (you should get a tracker if possible, he's located near the wurm caves) and kill him. Once he dies he drops a sword called Edge of the Taskmaster (not needed for the quest), a piece of a talisman, and his head. Take the head and the talisman back to Kardakor. He gives you the talisman back. Now, seek out Rolandal in the Wakening Land and hail her.

You say, 'Hail Rolandal'

Rolandal says, 'It would be my guess that you present this to me in hopes to find out more about the magics it possesses. Before I can do this I require some rare treasures that you must present to me."

You say, 'what rare treasures?'

Rolandal says, 'There are 3 items that I seek to continue my studies of some various and musterious magics. Bring to me the teachings of a high ranking Kromzek that I hear goes by the name of Gkrean, a chipped fang from a beast deep within the Cursed Necropolis. Also for good measure, I require the Head of a Kromzek Staff Sergeant to prove to your dedication to our cause. Present these 3 items to me along with your Talisman that you wish to learn more about and I shall do my best to identify its origin for you.'

Gather these items.

- Head of Staff Sergeant Drioc - Found in Kael on Staff Sergeant Drioc in the bank at Kael. He can be taken down easily by a group of 55+.

- Teachings of Gkrean - Found on Gkrean in the Arena in Kael. He has two Cleric guardians and is a Cleric himself (he gates and complete heals).

- a chipped fang - Drops from Vilefang in Dragon Necropolis. When you go down the ramp proceed to Zlandicar's lair, Vilefang is in the water.

Once you have these items hand them back to Rolandar along with the talisman and you will receive an Imbued Talisman. Go back up to Ralgyn and hand this item to him. It will result in the Circlet of the Falinkan.

You only need to return 3 items to Rolandal. The fang, the head, and the scroll. No need to kill Taskmaster or do the GD portion of the quest.

Confirmed on Aradune 1/7/21.

Just finished this quest on Ragefire, in Luclin-era progression. Not hard with a group of 60's - Warrior, Cleric, Shaman, Enchanter, Druid, Ranger, all with 50-150 AA.

We did the Kael part first. We invised to the bank and set up camp just outside. Only had to kill 2 things before we got to Drioc, who was just waiting in the bank when I opened the door. Everything conned light blue... easily dispatched. Took about 15 minutes from the time we zoned in.

Next we killed our way up to the Arena from the bank. Gkrean was up with his 2 cleric buddies. Enchanter used Wake of Tranquility on all 3 mobs and single-pulled them, no problems. Used Wandering Mind and Theft of Thought on the complete-healing mobs and they would only have enough mana for 1 cast of CH. Piece of cake, took us less than 30 minutes killing our way from the bank area to get to Gkrean.

After Kael we ported to Great Divide and ran toward the wurm caves in the center of the zone. Tracked the Taskmaster when we got close enough. Pulled him with Tash, then Malo, Slow and Cripple. We were expecting a long tough fight but it was nothing of the sort, even though he conned yellow to our 60's. Didn't resist any of our spells. Our warrior has 7k hitpoints and 1300 AC, 50-75 AA, and we finished the fight in about 2 minutes, warrior had about 40% health and wasn't healed during combat. This part took maybe 15 minutes all together though most of it was spent buffing.
Kardakor was up in the wurm caves so I ran over to him and gave him the Taskmaster's head and the talisman. He kept the head and gave me back the talisman, along with plus faction for CoV (mine was maxxed), +12 Yelinak faction, and minus giant faction (I forget which Kromrif/Kromzek, mine couldn't get any worse).

So next we headed to Dragon Necropolis for the fang bit. Invised our way to the rat tunnel entrance and started killing the rats working our way down. Vilefang wasn't up on track but we stayed for a couple of hours anyway cuz killing rats is awesome! He didn't spawn while we were there so after a while we left without the fang.
I decided to check on Vilefang a couple of days later. I took my 60 chanter/druid box to DN, parked chanter at zone and invised up to the rat tunnels with the druid. Vilefang was up this time, but I didn't have my 4 friends with me this time. I decided to try it anyway. With Spirit of Eagle, I ran the druid all the way to the water where Vilefang lives. I set off some beetle traps and had to evac. I tried again right away, running the druid all the way down - not spawning any beetles this time but setting off some DD traps which dropped my camo. Fortunalely I had innate camo so I could re-invis while running and avoided any rat aggro. Made it to Vilefang's pool. He was in the water very close to shore. I dropped into the water and snared him, then started running back to the zone-in but I got some rat aggro before I could innate camo back on shore. Then it got ugly.
Vilefang is level 60 and summons, hits hard and procs a nasty blinding poison. I also got harmtouched by one of the rats and evaced out with about 5% health. So I tried again.
Ran down again with the druid and Vilefang wasn't in the water - he was in the exact spot he was in when I evaced out. I pulled him with a dispel magic to avoid being summoned. I wanted to to see if I could get him all the way back to the zoneline, and eventually I did. Took about 5 or 6 tries but each time I would evac (some very close calls there) I would pull him closer and closer to the zoneline and when I ran back each time he did not move at all back to his spawn point. He would always be in the exact spot he was in when I evaced out - completely static. Once I got Vilefang out of the rat tunnels and topside in the phase spider area, running him back to the zoneline was cake. I pulled him into a spot along the wall within sight of the zoneline, then evaced one last time. Now it was time for my chanter to get to work.
Chanter charmed a phase spider using Boltran's, hasted it, then pulled Vilefang (who was patiently waiting along the wall where the druid left him) with Tash and sent the spider in to melee. Slowed Vilefang right away, no problems, and dotted him up with the druid. Vilefang went down after about a minute or so and the phase spider was at around 50% health. Looted the fang and some other junk and ported to Wakening Land.

Rolandl is a white dragon who spawns along the northern wall, had no problem tracking him with my druid once i got around the lake. Just handed him all 4 quest bits and he gave me Glanitar's Imbued Talisman plus one of the quest bits - old worn talisman - back. You don't need the old worn talisman at this point but he gives it back anyway. He gave the same faction adjustments as the Kardakor hand-in.
Ran to Skyshrine and up to the SS armor room - which I know well. From there it took me about 20 minutes of opening doors and running up spiral steps and whatnot before I found Ralgyn, as this was my first time exploring beyond the SS armor quest room. Handed him Glanitar's Imbued Talisman and he gave the circlet. Love it!

I just finished this quest, very nice! I gave the 3 items to Rolandal with the old worn talisman, she gave me the old worn talisman back and Glanitar's imbued talisman. I handed Glanitar's imbued talisman to Ralgyn and he gave me the circlet. I still have the old worn talisman, guessing it should not have been returned.

My faction with CoV is ally, I'd guess you need ally to do this quest, just like the armor quests.

Quest Change
# Jan 05 2003 at 9:30 AM Rating: Default
As of 1/5/03 the quest has been changed. Rolandal no longer gives you back an imbued talisman. He returns the old worn talisman. Take this back to Ralgyn and he claims he cannot be sure it belongs to Glanitar and to take it to Kardakor. Take the talisman to Kardakor and he returns it as Glanitar's Imbued Talisman. Hand this in to Ralgyn for the Circlet of the Falinkan.
RE: Quest Change
# Feb 07 2003 at 12:48 PM Rating: Decent
I just want to say that this is not true. I did the quest last night and I turned in the head of Drioc, Teachings of Gkrean, chipped fang from Vilefang and the worn talisman and Rolandal returned an Imbued talisman of Glanitar AND a worn talisman. I took the imbued talisman to Ralgyn and received the Circlet.

Just an FYI, Vilefang can be tracked if you invis up and head to the top of the ramp down to Zlandicar's area. Just make sure you do not go too far down the ramp as there is a beetle trap there.

Recently Skyshrine was revamped, and all the quest mobs moved around. Ralgyn is now marginally easier to reach; he is in the room directly before the one that formerly contained the HoT quest mobs. Go through the maze, up the massively long staircase, through the library, and you're there.

It's the same room as the guy who initiates the Ethereal Bladed Naginata quest. He didn't move, btw.

Anyway, hope this helps.

I have fang, I have Head of staff sergeant, teaching of Gkrean but I miss taskmater.
A druid friend took him down. Do you know if she can give Rolandar the talisman then I hand my pieces and then get the imbued talisman ?

In other words is this part MQable ?

Thanks for your help
RE: MQ ?
# Dec 23 2002 at 6:09 PM Rating: Decent

I MQed the Teachings from my alt, np at all

Just gave the teachings with alt then loged in Main and he turned in the rest and Boom I had my new Ubah head Piece.
RE: MQ ?
# Sep 14 2002 at 5:54 PM Rating: Decent
Nope not MQable since when you hand in the talisman to Rolandal he gives it back.
RE: MQ ?
# Dec 08 2002 at 4:38 AM Rating: Decent
Hm what you mean by that?

Tried to mq this today, I had done the taskmaster part while friend had gotten the three other parts. But as he turned in his three parts he got the medalion right off and Rolandal depopped. Never had to turn in the old worm medalion I got returned from kardakor.

Someone already give the medalion before we got there or is info on this quest wrong?

MQ able?

Has anyone had any luck mqing the teachings or anything else in this quest?
# Jul 15 2002 at 8:48 AM Rating: Default
Vilefang is very easy for a level 60 mob... getting to him is harder than killing him. You could probably do with 1 good group but bring a rogue along to disarm/sense traps and to help the mice go down quicker. Anyway, when I took down vilefang we had 3 groups and he went down faster than any of the mice. I didnt see anyone affected by this, but rumor has it that he has a pretty nasty poison, too(possible AE) so keep poison resists up... or maybe that was disease, oh well
Hope that helps a bit
Does this item show on your character model?

There is no Visible Graphic when worn.

When you get the Talisman from Kardakor do you then hand it to Rolandal and does he hand it back to you? Then you get the other 3 items and hand them in?
Was just a bit unclear on this after reading the quest above.

I have the teachings and the head I was wondering how many of what level of groups I would need to get to Zlandicar's lair and successfully kill the guy for the cracked tooth.

A wizard told me about this quest and while I regret taking all that mana and putting it to waste I just cant get around that 50 hps ;)

Location of Ralgyn?
# Mar 22 2002 at 6:19 PM Rating: Decent
Can any of you all who have completed this quest, please give us directions on how to get to Ralgyn. There are very few maps of SS, I can get up to the dragon area, but cant get any further than that. I go past the room where you zone to CS, past the north gates, to the right, past 3 rooms, then go south, into the room with the hidden stairs. Go up the stairs, then I dont know where to go past that. I have followed the path all the way to the right, but when I get to a certain point, I fall through the floor, and end up at the bottom. If I follow the path to the left, I come to a room with named cubes, but no were to go from there???

Any specific help would be appreciated.

RE: Location of Ralgyn?

Follow the left path, there is a fork that does not lead to the named cubes.. I think you have to walk past Lararith.. Keep following that path and you emerge in the side wall of a cylindrical room, however there is an invisible wall blocking you..

Step on the teleporter that you see, to go to the bottom of the cylindrical room. Follow the spiral-shaped staircase upwards, I think you cross a bridge there.. You will walk through a translucent wall and emerge in a maze, I cannot provide good instructions on how to go through it, I always blunder a little, but if you go the right way you will end up in bigger halls.. Then the path to the quest room will be easier to get to.

I don't know the path well enough to give verbal directions but I hope this helps.

I finished this quest last night. A weird thing that happened is, when you give Rolandal your Worn Talisman with your Teachings, Fang, and Head, you get the Worn Talisman back AND the Imbued Talisman. I handed the worn talisman to Ralgyn first, not knowing I even had an Imbued Talisman, and he said something like "This resembles my son's talisman but I can't be sure, take it back to Kardakor so he can guide you in identifying it." At this point I thought the quest was broken, and I petitioned.. Later, I checked in my inventory and noticed ANOTHER talisman (the Imbued one). I turned that one in and it worked!

Anyways I hope this helps
