Aderius Rhenar regards you indifferently -- You could probably win this fight.

You say, 'Hail, Aderius Rhenar'

Aderius Rhenar says 'Hail, ______. I am Aderius Rhenar, priest of Quellious and assistant to Lady Leraena. I have been fortunate to be imprisoned here with these Kejekan cat men, they are a very wise people. Are you planning on returning to Erudin soon my friend?'

You say, 'Yes.'

Aderius Rhenar says 'I have managed to prepare a message on this scrap of cloth for the priestess Leraena. It is a matter of great importance to the High Council of Erudin. Please deliver this message to her promptly. I must stay here for a while longer and converse further with my Kejekan friends.'

You receive a Rolled Up Strip of Cloth (identifies as "message to Laraena"). Bring it to Leraena Shelyrak in the Temple of Divine Light in Erudin.

You have entered Erudin.

Your Location is -649.03, -91.10, 67.10

Leraena Shelyrak regards you indifferently -- what would you like your tombstone to say?

You say, 'Hail, Leraena Shelyrak'

Leraena Shelyrak says 'Welcome my, child. I am Leraena Shelyrak, overseer of the Temple of Divine Light. Inside this temple, you may find the path to inner peace. Introduce yourself to each of the priests and priestesses of the temple as well as the paladins. Together we shall put an end to such disruptive influences as the [kobold shaman].'

Hand in the strip of cloth.

Leraena Shelyrak says 'This is important news indeed. It seems there is a tribe of cat men in the Stonebrunt Mountains that wishes to form an alliance with Erudin. I must alert the High Council of this immediately, thank you for your services.'
Your faction standing with Peace Keepers has been adjusted by 2.
Your faction standing with High Council of Erudin has been adjusted by 1.
Your faction standing with Heretics has been adjusted by -1.
You gain experience!!
You receive 8 copper from Leraena Shelyrak.
You receive 2 silver from Leraena Shelyrak.

You say, 'What cat men?'
You say, 'What catmen?'
You say, 'What Stonebrunt Mountains?'
You say, 'What alliance?'
You say, 'What high council?'
You say, 'I will alert the high council.'

Is there anything else after this? Is there a minimum faction requirement?

She is in the temple of quellious on the inside but for 2 weeks she has been a man with an ! in front of her name. I have sent bug reports and petitioned with various characters since she is the newbie cleric guild leader but all I get is check back later and I don't know when she will be fixed. Very sad that they will let newbies go without quests and their guild tunics etc for this long and not fix it.

It seems to me that for a Druid or Wizard, the fastest way to do this quest would be to bind yourself at one of the 2 NPCs for it, then use Gate and Gate of Toxx (or Ring of Toxx) to get between them as fast as possible. Other casters with Gate can just bind, run, gate, run, gate, etc. Melees get to do it the slow way. =(
Peacekeeper faction
# Jul 13 2001 at 7:01 PM Rating: Default
A couple of notes.
First of all, a double faction hit with the heretics is standard for all peacekeeper quests. It just wasn't well publicized before since there aren't that many erudite paladins or clerics, and this is the first peacekeeper quest accesible to outsiders.
Oddly enough, heretic quests don't give hits with the peacekeepers.
There are catmen who are friendly to Erudites. Those are the ones in Erud's Crossing, and I remember hearing once that they helped Erud and his followers cross the ocean.
Currently, I can't think of any good reasons to want to raise peacekeeper faction. I've done it myself, but only because its my Temple. The only quest that MIGHT give something useful is the stolen battlestaff quest, but since that one is currently unsolved, no one knows.
Of course, this could all change when Luclin or Stonebrunt go live.

Here's the deal about this and Merchant faction...
# Jul 12 2001 at 5:48 AM Rating: Default
Well, I did the Catman Alliance quest 53 times (give or take a couple... I lost track at one point) until I was amiable to Peacekeepers and could get the Peacekeeper Staff quest. I had started off as Indifferent to Peacekeepers.

However, when I went out into Tox and handed in the note, I just get the standard "I will do nothing to aid beings like you" from Emil Parsini. He is dubious to me.

I tried it again while invis, but that didn't work either, of course, as the very act of opening a trade window with an NPC breaks your invis... you still have the icon, but you are NOT invis. This bug has been around forever, so the results weren't surprising.

So basically, due to the mis-information on this site about raising this faction, I wasted 4 hours doing that mindless Catman Alliance quest.... all for nothing. Bummer. At least I am amiable to Peacekeepers now -- although I haven't yet figured out what good that will do me.

Do yourself a favor... if Emil Parsini cons dubious or lower to you, DON'T bother raising your Peacekeepers faction, because it takes forever and apparently will do you no good at all toward gaining Merchants of Erudin faction.
Emil is on merchants of Erudin

Raising your peacekeeper faction will never help raise him.

Do the quest with the lanterns and that guy near Pandos at the hogcaller inn in west freeport. You get a ton o' wood chips to give to emil that raise merchants of erudin. My dark elf cleric got amiable to them quite fast, after she first raised elf factions enough to do the muffin quest in halfling one use mask form and then subsequently the lantern quest with the guy near Pandos.
Raising merchants at glower, with lanterns in freep to guy b
# Oct 15 2001 at 5:49 PM Rating: Default

First do muffins if the other guy in the west freeport bar won't acknowledge the lantern (the dwarf takes the muffins) however this quest is hard now due to no muffins being around on vendors in freeport because of some lack of bread with that goofy green mist in Nk thing.

In a room by the dwarf muffin guy anyway is some human guy you give the 6 silver small lanterns to (sold from vendor in north freeport at jade something.. one of the locations)I think he is the guy for trueshot quest.

Anyway, he gives you a wood chip each time and they STACK. So you buy a bunch of the small lanterns go and give to that human guy (oh hogcallers inn is the inn by the way) then give the wood chips to emil parsini in tox. Each chip raises merchants of erudin and it can indeed be done at glower dubious = D.

Another much harder way to raise it was giving those odus pearls found in the bay of erud to the guy in the upstairs of the cobbler shop in qeynos and he gave you a wood chip then. The lantern/parsini wood chip thing is far easier though. You will get amiable to erud merchants quite fast.

Muffins are available again, this quest is easy to complete now.
I gave around 40 small lanterns and got 30 wood chips (sometimes nothing or a heart). However, those 30 chips were enough for me to went from "ready to attack" (you never con less than dubious with merchants, but with bankers) to indifferent! So this is a quick way to raise your Merchant of Erudin Faction.

RE: Here's the deal about this and Merchant faction...
# Jul 19 2001 at 2:28 PM Rating: Default
Why on earth would you think increasing faction with the peacekeepers would increase Merchants of erudin faction?? They are 2 seperate factions?? Go get a couple stacks of wooden shards(treant wood) and give them to the merchant guy in the shop to the right as you exit Erudin into Toxx. This quest is where killing all those treants pays off, no neg factions, all good. How you get your treant wood is up to you.(hint, see trueshot longbow quest)

My Human Paladin of Marr turned amiable upon turning in the 25th note. The need for the better Peacekeeper faction is to be able to do part of the Paladin Epic - don't know the level needed for that. I don't think there is any Armor of Ro from the Peacekeepers.

With Lucen coming out this fall, is it possible that the cat's here will be related to the new Cat Race on Lucin? Is it possible that the new zone might be the pathway to Lucin? Afterall, when traveling to the Moon, what better head start can you get than starting on the top of a mountain range?

Only way I've read & heard about so far to get to Luclin will be to get a wiz to teleport you there. I'm thinkin' that's a bit of a heavy monopoly for wizards & will make playing the game that much harder (all the extra tells, etc.) but unless it's a teleport/portal stone deal I don't see how they'll logically do it.

Just confirming what was said below. This quest is an easy note delivery, but it does it the Heretics faction twice.
Also, there is no need to hail Koajin. After doing it once, I have simply gone up to Aderius and said I will return to Erudin and he gives you the note.
Finally, it should be obvious by the script and their appearance that the Kejekans are much different than Kerrans.

Stonebrunt Mountains are on the map that came with the game a year and a half ago; they're also on the maps that came with the Kunark and Velious expansions.

If you want in-game reasons for the Stonebrunt Mountains not being immediately accessible:

When the game started, the new city of Paineel hadn't even been built; the Erudite Necromancers were living in Toxxulia Forest (if I remember right, their guild was the building that now just has a bunch of abandonded heretic pets in it).

And before that, the Erudite Necromancers were living in the original city of Paineel, which they built inside the Hole.

Considering the magnitude of the disaster that living in and exploring the Hole led to, I really don't blame the Heretics for taking their time exploring the tunnels leading from Paineel into the Warrens, which apparently has the only entrance to the Stonebrunt Mountains.

So: first the Heretics had to recover from their disastrous adventures in the Hole and build a new city; then they had to find a way into the kobold tunnels. And now we're waiting for the brave adventurers exploring the Warrens to finally discover the passageway leading to Stonebrunt mountains.

Euradins and Kerans, friends???
# Jun 17 2001 at 5:22 PM Rating: Default
The quest mentions something about some Cat People in stoneburnt mountains that want to make an alliance with Euradin. I find this very odd since currently the cats on Kerra Ridge have a strong hatred for the Euradins, as the Euradins also find them such a lesser race. Some of the Kerran quests even involve killing Euradite guards and obtaining their heads.

Evidently not despite early rumors to that effect. It appears that it will be all the way in the far end of The Warrens past the throne room. See this recently updated map for more details:

http://www.eqatlas.com/warrensmap.html

One thing about that location is that it will restrict the new Stonebrunt Mountains zone to players who can manage to find a way past some of the highest level mobs in the Warrens. I'm guessing that trying that run much earlier than your late teens could turn out to be quite risky.

My advice would be to get a sow and some sort of invis and run like hell.

I did this quest and i got about 2sp 4cp, but watch out cause it hits your Paineel faction twice!(you think killing kobalds would give you faction with peacekeepers cause the cleric guild leader hates them and gives out quests to kill em)

I am thinking that perhaps there is going to be another city(or at least an outpost with more quest) of kajekan's(white cat men) in the stonebunt mountains. The stonebrunt mountains are located off of the warrens(i think the intrance will be inside the warens) same lvl range as lake of ill omen, so you can expect some nice items may be some better japanese style weps! I plan on hunting there ASAP so i can get my own collection of katanas and such. :)
i think it should be out some time soon...

I too found the kejeran tool kit, ID's as koajinn's tools. and not being lucky enough to read the post I got frustrated when he wouldn't answer anything and just gave it to him. bye bye 1k. anyways, the quest may not be ready yet. but if it is I wouldn't doubt that one of the two remaining pieces are with the kerrans since they like pillaging the kejerans as much as the heretics. the kobolds worked him near death, and the only trade skill I saw going round that place other than cooking is smithing. maybe he's a silversmith or something else along those lines. whatever the outcome, it can't be too bad if one of the items costs 1k pp. if anyone comes up with more info plz post, this is going to drive me nuts

Uh, no. If you look at the map supplied with EQ you will clearly see that the Stonebrunt Mountains are on the continent of Odus, it would be REALLY hard to make them a zone next to Steamfont

Ah...but the world is round, isn't it? Couldn't it have a sub-ocean tunnel or *gasp* another boat to Faydwer thru Steamfont? (Confidentially I think the original poster was confusing the ButcherBlock Mountains and the Steamfont Mountains and making them into one meshed Stonebrunt Mountains, which, you are right, is incorrect.) I would like to see a globe, not just a map of Norrath...and we are getting there.

Stonebrunt Mtns have not been added yet. They are a planned future "optional" patch. Much like Warrens itself was. Supposedly will be a Rathe Mtns like area off of Tox Forest. Lvls are rumored to be about 25 to ?.
