At the end of the previous quest, Loremaster Borannin told you to ask him how you could further advance your reputation with the coldain.

You say, 'How can I further advance my reputation with the coldain?'

Loremaster Borannin says '______! Thank Brell you're here. I was about to send one of my Lorekeepers looking for you. It appears that the information Tanik acquired is most perilous indeed. The Dain has called an emergency session of the council and I must attend. We don't have the luxury of waiting for an appropriate task to arise, you must advance as soon as possible. Unfortunately, I have neither the time, nor the components to fashion the next few shawls for you. Ask Rexx Frostweaver about the prayer shawl and follow his direction carefully.'

Rexx Frostweaver may be found in the Thurgadin Exchange, near the bank.

You say, 'Hail Rexx Frostweaver'

Rexx Frostweaver says 'Hmmm, ye be one o them offlanders, don't ye? I've heard some strange tales o yer kind so don't be tryin' any funny business with me. I know the value of a platinum piece and I'll not get cheated by yer foreign coin.'

You say, 'I am here for the next prayer shawl.'

Rexx Frostweaver says 'Gather five strands of crystalline silk thread and combine them in a sewing kit to make a crystalline silk fiber. Take this container and combine a glowing shardworm bile with three of the fibers to form a piece of glowing crystalline silk. Five pieces of glowing crystalline silk sewn to your fur-lined shawl will yield a beautiful silk shawl. Become a master in the art of tailoring before risking all you've worked for and be sure to let me inspect your work when it's complete.'

You receive a Glowing Bile Soaker.

Crystalline Silk Thread is an uncommon drop from various spiders in Velketor's Labyrinth. Glowing Worm Bile is a rare drop from various shardwurms in the Great Divide. You will need at least 75 threads and 5 biles, provided you don't fail at all. Combine 5 Crystalline Silk Threads in a sewing kit or loom to craft Crystalline Silk Fiber (trivial 51). Combine 3 Crystalline Silk Fibers and a Glowing Worm Bile in the Glowing Bile Soaker to craft a Glowing Crystalline Silk Piece (no-fail). Combine 5 Glowing Crystalline Silk Pieces with your Fur-Covered Coldain Prayer Shawl in a sewing kit or loom to craft a Silk Coldain Fur Shawl (trivial 115). If you fail the final combine, you will get your Fur-Covered Coldain Prayer Shawl back.

Give the Silk Coldain Prayer Shawl to Rexx Frostweaver.

Rexx Frostweaver says 'Splendid, ______, this is beautiful workmanship! As the Grand Historian may have mentioned, our esteemed Dain Frostreaver the fourth is making some important plans with his council. These plans will doubtlessly include you if the Dain deems you worthy.'

You say, 'Am I worthy?'

Rexx Frostweaver says 'To ensure your worthiness you must continue to refine your prayer shawl. Speak with my wife Betti regarding the embroidered shawl and listen carefully to her words. Hurry now, there seems to be a sense of urgency about.'

Glowing Shardwurm Biles
# Jun 02 2001 at 4:26 PM Rating: Excellent
Thes can drop from ANY shardwurm type in GD, young, elder, ancient and crystalline. The key thing you need to watch for is that this is a "glowing" item. Any wurm that has one on it, will be emitting light. so look for glowing wurms to kill :)

Very true, me a 42cleric and a few mages for low 50s went inside following the river down from thurg until the walls becomes wide. We Camped on the left side right along the wall, this way ones that walked back and forth wouldnt agro. Just be sure pets are kept back on the wall too. An ancient, least i think its an ancient wurm, spawns directly accross. We took him out when the wondering ones were far enough away or be prepared to get ADDS like mad. It is VERY obveous when they have a shard when inside the caves since the wurms with biles do glow and the entire walls will be lit up. Its not as easy to tell if you camp from outside though. Hope this helps....

I completed the quest today. The final Combine in a regular Tailoring kit resulted (for me) in the Silk Coldain Prayer Shawl. Remembering that Rexx says "Let me inspect your work," I nervously handed it in to him.

He handed it back (and nothing else that I saw) and said, "Splendid Lonzrick, this is beautiful workmanship! As the Grand Historian may have mentioned, our esteemed Dain Frostreaver the fourth is making some important plans with his council. These plans will doubtlessly include you if the Dain deems you worthy."

So it seems we need to visit the Dain or perhaps the Grand Historian and ask about important plans, etc., to move on to the next step.

Bile/Thread Drops

Was in GD/Velketor's today after patch. Only the crystalline line of spiders were dropping threads. They were uncommon and were dropping about 1-4 at a time. We also looted Small piece of Velium, Small Brick of Velium, Crystalline Silk, and rarely a gem.

Killed a young shardwurm in GD and it dropped a bile.
Fail on final combine...

Taken from http://boards.station.sony.com/ubb/everquest/Forum1/HTML/000144.html comin straight out of Steve Burke's mouth (the guy who designed this quest)

- If you fail the skill check when crafting a shawl you will get the previous shawl back, this has been the case since the quests went live.

- Steve Burke

And also

Yes, the threads drop less than I had intended and will be upped in the next patch. Err... what I MEANT was, 'The spiders in Velkator's lab have only recently become mature enough to weave their crystalline silks into magical thread, and they aren't that good at it....yet.'

(he refered to the patch of May 30)

I havent had the chance to go to Velks yet to check out the drop rates... but I hope that this step gets alot easier now...

And anyways, its supposed to be hard and anoying to get there. There must be some sort of bottleneck on this quest to keep everyone from getting their 8th, 9th or even 10th shawl (If people will get that high at all...)

NO TRACKING

YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING ME ? ? ?
It takes 75 of the Crysatlline silk threads, which are no-drop, rare items, and 5 of the glowing wurm biles, which are n-drop, and if you fail, which happens even if it is trivial, at any failer you are set back a week or more on the quest, and if you fail at the final combine....
I have spent 2 weeks trying to get the eggs for the 3rd part of the quest and so far have only gotten 3 eggs(47 shaman, no tracking). I have killed over 70 snow griffons. This has got to be one of the most annoying quests they have come up with. Thanks Verant for putting something tempting but almost impossible to get without tracking. Kanudeal 47 Barb Shamie Povar

Forgot something about the drop rate of Threads:
They are still rare drop, but much more common as in former times. And when they drop they drop up to 4 of the threads. We got about 16 in 2 hours. This is still not much regarding that you need 75, but I think its worth the item. Even when ya have 200 Wis/Int, because it has resists as well and a nice +1 mana regen effect (Not much but stacks with all other clarity spells and).
RE: NO TRACKING
# Jun 10 2001 at 6:09 AM Rating: Decent
The Threads are Tradeable. I went yesterday to Velketor's and fought with 3 wizies and a druid and we were fine killing them (just don't let the spiders see your back when you pulling. They can have a nasty BS) If you dont have a Tank with you it's recommend that you have a stunner, as Root is broken after maximum 5 seks (used Engulfing roots, max. duration 3 mins)

To the eggs: The whole 3rd part must be really hard without tracking, but it's a matter of luck how much eggs the griffs drop. At my first try I got 4 eggs from 9 griffs, but failed the souffle although it was trivial. At my 2nd try I got the 4 eggs from 6 griffs. I would say kill 4 griffs, if there is no Egg dropped, do something else and return in a few hours ack to try it again. There are also some times no griffs up. Usually in about 3 hours later they are up again and drop like a egg-machine.

Does anyone know which mobs are on the same spawn table as the griffs?

I had good luck hunting in the southeast corner of the zone and killing mammoths ( tundra mainly ) and clubbing snow bunnies to get the griffons to spawn.

I've killed lots and lots of young shardwurms so far.. no bile. I'm losing faith in that.. i might try going after the crystals or ancients instead.

KoS to Coldain
# May 23 2001 at 2:45 PM Rating: Default
Anyone know if this is possible to do while KoS to coldain? I know that some of the ring quests can be done while KoS. If I can just sneak behind the npc while invis, drop invis (still sneaking and therefore indif faction) can I get this? Or are there npcs that see invis along the way and/or is sneak not viable do to the other npcs in the area? I am going to take my Thurgadin mule to find this guy, but I would love to beable to get this while not haveing to spend a week to swap from ally Kromzek to get un-KoS to coldain then go back to Ally for my Kael armor quests.

If you check the recent posts on the message boards (verant's) there is a post on this.

They have supposedly made the shawl quests so that you must have warmly faction or better to do them.

The quest container to combine the Crystalline Silk Fibers with the Glowing Shardwurm bile is given to you in response to 'I am here for the next prayer shawl.' NPCs won't respond to you while you're invis, so you can't do this quest without having decent Coldian faction.

I was fighting in the Great Divide the other night and saw this looted off a Young Shardwurm we had just taken down. The item's name is "Glowing Worm Bile."

I have killed shardwurms for a very long time and never seen a single one drop. But ive also never killed any crystalline wurms so perhaps it drops off of them only

Crystalline silk threads drop off of the spiders in Velketor's Labyrinth. Current reports are that they drop at a rate of about one an hour, which is insane, but apparently they will be increasing drops after the next patch. The crystalline silks that drop off of the spiders in Crystal Caverns will NOT work.

Glowing shardwurm bile is reported to be a semi-rare drop off of any of the shardwurms in Great Divide, elders and crystallines and the like, but there are reports of them off of young shardwurms as well.

Failing the skill check at any step will eat your items. Verant insists that failing on the last step will only eat the glowing crystalline silk and will return your fur-lined shawl to you, but there are reports of people losing the shawl along with the silks...so be careful. I haven't heard any firm trivial for the last step, but it sounds like it's trivial somewhere around 150-170. As the next shawl after this one also requires this sort of tailoring, it's probably worth taking the time to get your skill up pretty high. Good luck!
Trivial?

She says the shawl trivials at 115. The silk fibres are trivial much lower than that (<28).

I made some fibres last night - they were trivial at 82 skill

It seems to be 135 for all the skills to make everything trivial. I would expect this to be the same.

Silks

Previous posting on the silks is wrong. The silks needed here are called Crystalline silk threads and are no drop. Not to be confused with Crystalline silk. So far they are extremely rare and it works out that you need 75 of em.. :(

Silks are NOT no drop - the combined Fibres are.
Drop rates are better now - in 2 hours my group made 8 Fibres (thats 40 threads) and got 3 gems.

#Anonymous, Posted: May 23 2001 at 12:08 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Do you need to turn in the 4th shawl at any point in this?? if not, im keeping that nifty range item, and skipping ahead to this, since i know tailoring and dont have any pottery skill =)
RE: Do you need 4th shawl??
# May 23 2001 at 4:42 AM Rating: Decent
You will need to hand in th 4th shawl in order to get this one. It would not be much of a 5th quest if you did not, would it ?

The good news is, you'll get even more satisfaction when you have completed it :P
#Anonymous, Posted: May 23 2001 at 12:07 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You can also gather these more easily in Crystal Caverns in the hallway leading to queen and in her room, not sure about other places
