You say, 'hail Sartar the Unrivaled'

Sartar the Unrivaled says 'Hello Shazz , I am Sartar. In my former life I forged my body into a versatile weapon capable of defeating any foe that crossed my path. I was a student, a leader, a scholar and a scoundrel. My deeds caught the eyes of the gods and Cazic-Thule blessed me, removing me from this plane and placing me within the [Realm of Heroes].

You say, 'what realm of heroes'

Sartar the Unrivaled says 'The Realm of Heroes is where I lived for some time, with others who had performed great deeds. I enjoyed this paradise but I wished to return and serve my lord Cazic-Thule further. Perhaps it was because of the discipline I learned from my early masters and later as a master myself, that I eventually shunned that life of pleasure. So again, I return to this mortal realm to serve my [dark lord of Fear].

You say, 'who is the dark lord of fear'

Sartar the Unrivaled says 'Hail Cazic-Thule, long may fear reign. I serve by rewarding others that have found the favor of the gods and whose actions have caught their attention and rewarded them appropriately. Those to receive the favor of the gods are on their way to the glory that I have achieved in [my past]. Their journey is simply at its beginning.

You say, 'what is your past'

Sartar the Unrivaled says 'I do not know whether it was one single deed in particular that caught the eyes of the gods or if it was many deeds throughout my life in service to Cazic-Thule. I choose to leave such questions to the philosophers and personally do not care why it is that I stand before you as I do now. Simply, my reward is to serve. Still, perhaps you would like to [hear one of my tales] since you seem so interested in listening to me speak.

You say, 'i would like to hear a tale'

Sartar the Unrivaled says 'Very well, I shall relay to you a tale of my beginning. The times in which I lived were much different from today. It gives me pleasure to see the ancient cities being rebuilt and New Sebilis is a testament to the superiority of our race. When I walked the land however, we were still wandering in the wilderness. When I was young their were [two masters] who lived solitary lives in the caves near what is now called the Emerald Jungle. I served both and neither.

You say, 'what two master'

Sartar the Unrivaled says 'Their names are not important for they are masters no longer. The two knew of each other's existence but neither knew that I was receiving training from both of them at the same time. I expect that if one learned I was receiving training from the other they would have both fought over whom would be the one to have the pleasure of striking me dead. They would [learn the truth] eventually, only on my terms.

You say, 'what was the truth'

Sartar the Unrivaled says 'The truth was simply that I served neither master, only myself. At first it was a great challenge to slip between the two as their fighting styles differed so greatly. However, as the years past my ruse became perfected and switching between the roots of either style became natural and automatic. Indeed, I soon reached the point when I knew that I had learned all I could from both and had exceeded them in skill. [Yet I continued] to pay both visits.

You say, 'why did you continue the visit?'

Sartar the Unrivaled says 'I simply wanted to be certain that I was able to defeat both, one after the other. I knew that should I slay the one master, word would travel quickly, no doubt fears would be raised and perhaps my duplicity revealed. My unique perspective having studied both styles afforded me the knowledge of how to [defeat both masters].

You say, 'how did you defeat both masters?'

Sartar the Unrivaled says 'Defeat them both I did! I still remember the look of shock on their faces, how the pupils of their eyes dilated with fear as I switched from their native stance to that of the other style. That momentary loss of wits was the undoing of both and that weakness was their undoing. I defeated both masters easily. This was the humble beginning of my [rise to power].

You say, 'how did you rise to power?'

Sartar the Unrivaled says 'With both local masters defeated word traveled quickly of my deeds. Those that would seek the masters for knowledge and training were suddenly without either. Through their destruction, I had laid the roots for my eventual ascension as head of my tribe.

You say, 'what is your tribe?'

Sartar the Unrivaled says 'Indeed, rather then to come to these two masters for wisdom and training they began to seek out my help. Soon, I had followers joining me from many of the other tribes and I became a leader of many. My tribe grew large and we were very powerful and successful. Often the passage of time swallows the great deeds of a hero and they are forgotten over millennia. Fortunately, the gods never forget. I have become bored with speaking to you Sstiyrr . Leave me

GM Event
# Sep 10 2004 at 11:35 PM Rating: Decent
This is not exactly a quest. these NPC"s are related to a GM event which, to my knowledge, is never done anymore, you would get special tokens you turn into these NPC's. I do not know what the reward is/was

on SZ PvP servers , over 20ish , u loot coins of the deity of the player U killed .

there is differents coins of deitys , U need to comboine 10lil to get 1 medium etc to the highest one coin . depend also of the level of the player u killed .

then when U got enough coins , u can do those quest ... Enjoy , it s really long =))

I know that there is a 'smart' ogre in Ogguk (sp?) that will also talk about the realm of heroes when hailed. I do believe that these NPC's do give out special items to people given the coin in GM events, but I also believe that Whyttygr did do a quest involving this NPC. His story is just too sound, and worth checking out. Please post here if you have tried this quest and whether you were given an item or not, and what it was.
the master

is this all related to the masters adressed in the monk shackle quests?

I think i have figured it out i asked the one in Cabilis "Am i a hero?" he said, "I still do not know. Go to Emerald Jungle and find a cave then we shall see if you have the courage to be a hero." So i went yada yada just hang around one of the walls and ace them and run at the same time there will be a fake wall that leads to a Fallen Master he is indifferent to everyone it seems because i had a group with me just in case. And he goes through this story of how a student his most 'Trusted' student betrayed him and killed him for another master. Then he says something along the lines of " I must redeem myself i did not die a fool" he is around level 55. And hits for about 80 and hit and he has some monk moves. Right after you kill him he says "So i did die a fool may the faceless one forgive me". Right after he dies another Master spawns he is also indifferent. You hail him and He turns to you in distgust and in rage "What business do you have here? If you have none begone before i dispose of you. In fact i think i will do it anyway im getting rusty anyway." he is alot alot harder then the other one. He hits for about 100-120 a hit he must be around 55+ because he was white to me at 55 anyway you kill him and you recieve 'A Sad Diary' when you read it you find out that he had a student that was very promising in his fighting and how it reminds him of his son that was killed by a wandering group of Bandits. Anyway i gave it over to the unrivaled guy i keep forgetting his name and he gave me 'Tunic of Combat' stats are, +15 HP,+10 Agi,+5 Dex,+5 all savs, and has a triggered affect of a haste buff called Iksathret(dunno why it is called that dont ask) and it ways 0.5 you also haveta worship Cazic Thule. All in all it is well worth it and kinda easy just that the masters have like Dragon like HP's almost like over 5000 it seems takes for ever is what im saying it will probably take about 10 hours to do the whole quest and bring 2 full groups. later

Hmmm... I, an Iskar Necromancer and Historian have reason to believe that maybe not only do these two iskars Sartar the Unrivaled/Unruffled
may be the Gm event AND a new quest coming out involving everyone (all the Named NPCs). But possibly maybe the Hermit in the cave responsible for one of the Necro caps may also be responsible for being one of the Masters Sarta Unrivaled speaks of. Maybe recieving something from him and another from someone in Field of Bone (figure here because a lot of history happened here)
might give you a different prize from each. Or maybe you just give eacha coin and they each give you something different.

The only way to do this quest is to participate in a GM quest. When you finish their quest they will give you a lore nodrop coin that you then hand to this npc and then you receive an item that is godly (sometimes only demi-godly). That's all there is to these npcs throughout the world that speak of the realm of the heroes. Hope this clears things up.
yes it is

All of these realm of heroes stories are quests. The solution to the quest is always found in nearby zones and the text gives clues to what must be retreived (its multiple things i beleive). From what I've read, only the Qeynos Realm of Heroes quest has ever been solved. Don't remeber what the reward was though, probably different for each quest.
Asking what coin
# May 07 2001 at 12:49 PM Rating: Decent
You say, 'what coin'

Sartar the Unrivaled says 'Occasionally, a person will perform some heroic deed and be rewarded by a servant of the gods with a coin that marks them as one on the path to becoming a hero. I will accept these coins and in return, reward that individual in kind with a prize worthy of a hero.

I was in Greater Faydark for a Gm run event the other day. The GM's gave out coins to those that had done exceptional jobs during the event, the GM then told those people to find the Realm of Heroes person in the town. He then told them the name and said they had a limited time only to give him the coin. One person received a +75 HP ring. I am sure this is what these people are used for, nothing more. Except maybe to tell a little of the history.
Coins
# May 06 2001 at 2:36 PM Rating: Default
I Believe the coins are given out at GM events Recently, I think started with the GM event things in EK. When you hand coin into person you get a really nice item that you can use and is one of a kind. This was one item given out, a Pally delivored a potion to a GM run Meldrath and got a coin. He returned it into one of the Heroes from the realm of heroes and got this.

Sir Jevik's Blessed Cape
MAGIC ITEM NO DROP
AC: +12 Str: +5 Agi: +5 Cold Resist: +10 Poison Resist: +10 Disease Resist: +10
Weight: 3.0
Classes: Bard Shadowknight Paladin Ranger

My Thoughts
# Apr 24 2001 at 2:58 AM Rating: Decent
Well as a player of many races i have found a similar story to become a hero in every city. Each mentions a coin to return and each coin must be from there specific god. so Agnostic is out. Not all gods spawn in the planes iether. Has anyone ever tried to go to a different city to kill the heroes of opposing races (ie Dwarf kill Ogre, Woodelf kill Dark elf, ect.). Maybe the heroes themselves hold the coins needed to give to other heroes of ones faith. Would not killin a hero of another make you a hero to your own people. Anyway good luck to all, hopefully this is found soon.

NPC used to reward people in GM quests
# Mar 17 2001 at 6:45 AM Rating: Default
Event for the opening of the Warrens resulted in the GM character giving the person a No Rent coin to give to the Realm of Hero's person nearby (Rewarded the coin near the NPC so small risk of LD). The person on my server recieved an AC 9 HP 10 Mana 10 Viel 'An Impenetrable Mask of Al'Kabor'.

# Mar 20 2001 at 8:15 PM Rating: Good
i doubt that is the quest. the realm of hero thing is also in every other city. based on what the NPCs say, one would think that it would be a bigger reward since the only way to get into the realm of heros is to do something great for ones god

NO.... that is what its for!
get coins turn in, one in every town so you can always get to one, sheesh.
Noob.
monk quest?
# Mar 09 2001 at 3:36 PM Rating: Default
when the npc talked of two masters and of switching stances and stuff it made me think monks. i think this is probaly a monk quest of some sort. and maybe somewhere in EJ the masters he mention spawn, and they are part of the quest. or maybe you can find the tribe he mentioned somewhere
Ancient Coin
# Mar 08 2001 at 5:48 AM Rating: Default
I foraged an Ancient Coin in EJ......

And the NPC mentioned EJ in the conversation. So I /say: What an ancient coin.

He told me to return the coin to me and I will get a prize.

I gave him the coin and he said:

Thank you for your ancient coin.....
Broken quest? or I miss something?

that coin is for the bard quest for the tambourine in firiona vie.
RE: Ancient Coin
# May 23 2001 at 3:51 AM Rating: Decent
I believe it is also for the Shackle of Bronze quest. But no, as other people have mentioned, No Rent coins are sometimes given to PCs as the result of an Event where the PC performed well. If you give this coin to one of these "Titled" NPCs (there seems to be one in every city) you'll be awarded some sort of unique item.

Essentially, this NPC is to facilitate GM quests, as well as to provide a little history.
maybe
# Mar 07 2001 at 8:40 PM Rating: Decent
he mentions being with other heroes, perhaps if someone asked him about a specific hero (kizrak the tyrant, jaylia the faithful, etc)he might talk more. or if one talks to the other heroes
not a quest
# Mar 06 2001 at 1:51 PM Rating: Decent
Has anyone considered that maybe this is not a quest and maybe just verrant's way of introducing a history to the game with these stories of heroes? maybe the reason they are standing around in newbie places is cause its just for newbies to get some background stories from the game.
RE: not a quest
# Mar 07 2001 at 11:18 AM Rating: Default
No, the way they introduce history is usually through books you get at city libraries and the such. This is a quest.
RE: not a quest
# Mar 18 2001 at 2:31 PM Rating: Decent
They also have NPCs that just talk about history too, and not every NPC with bracketed text starts a quest.

...from my conversation with him. Please excuse the questions I used, since I was simply grasping for keywords at points.

Sartar the Unrivaled regards you indifferently -- what would you like your tombstone to say?

You say, 'hail Sartar the Unrivaled'

Sartar the Unrivaled says 'Hello Phyr , I am Sartar. In my former life I forged my body into a versatile weapon capable of defeating any foe that crossed my path. That is Sartar the Unruffled.

It is my suspicion that both are two parts of a whole.
Each Sartar are the incarnation of one of the fighting styles used to defeat his two masters.

The unruffled needs to be probed hard for his story.

There is a quest here I am sure.. But probably really high level.
