You say, 'hail Vorshar the Despised'

Vorshar the Despised turns toward you with an icy glare. ''Hail Findim , I am Vorshar the Despised. I trust that you have important business with me? Why else would you disturb one such as I when it is so obvious that I am a being of great power. I was [selected by Innoruuk] himself to reside in the Realm of Heroes. I have sacrificed many a mortal in the eyes of hate and do not be so quick to assume that I would not be delighted to perform such a rite again.'' Vorshar the Despised curls his lip in a twisted, sinister smirk.

You say, 'why were you selected by innoruuk'

Vorshar the Despised says 'Why? You dare to ask one such as I the will of the Hateful Father?! However, you do seem to be quite lacking in the field of thought and intelligence, which would easily explain why you have not heard my name [nor of my legend].

You say, 'what about your legend'

Vorshar the Despised says 'I, my dear witless Dark Elf, was chosen by Innoruuk's hand during the uprising and fall of the [Combine Empire.] When the Teir`Dal had begun their decision to sign a treaty and join the Empire, I was one of the few who opposed siding with humans and the rest of the lowly creatures of this world.

You say, 'what of the combine era'

Vorshar the Despised narrows his eyes, blazing with hatred and a sinister amusement. ''The Combine Empire was a short-lived political structure of many of the world's races that fell shortly after my ascension. Innoruuk had found my faith and devotion to his word and his children so appealing, that he had chosen me to walk within the Hall of Heroes, although now, I have been [allowed a return]. To this moment, I know not why I have been given such a punishment as to again lay sight and ear to the grotesque, obtuse
creatures of Norrath.''

You say, 'why have you been allowed a return'

Vorshar the Despised says 'It is the Dark Father's will that I have returned to the prime realm. I do not question his judgement, nor shall I ever. His will is mine, and I do not question myself. The Dark Father wishes to expand his followers within the Realm of Heroes, and thus, I have been sent as more of a judge and jury for those who would [consider themselves worthy] of Innoruuk's recognition and divine favor.

You say, 'i consider myself worthy'

Vorshar the Despised looks at you a moment, his features emotionless beyond the searing impatience and hatred within his eyes. ''Then you have only furthered my faith in your utter lack in wit. Those who would gain favor with The Dark Father carry a symbol, a coin, that they must give to me for proper judgement. Without that coin, you are but another fool among a sea of imbeciles.''

You say, 'what coin'

You say, 'what symbol'

You say, 'what of the realm of heroes'

the heroes who talk about the realm of heroes are ONLY for gm events. if you participate in a gm event and you get a coin the gm will tell you to go hand it in to one of the heros. the reward you get from the hero depends on your level. the higher level you are the better the reward will be. it's that simple. there's absolutely no need for this long discussion about this crap.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 15 2002 at 4:05 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i get angry every time i read about events. verant makes events only in american peak time, when everyone in europe sleeps or has to work. i have never seen any event happen in my playing time, and i play for over 1 1/2 years. its like they dont need any european players. ok, enough of this, you dont care about this after all.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 09 2002 at 9:57 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) amen bro, i am american but work grave shifts so i sleep american peak hours, luckily last halloween the did a week long non stop event that i was able to benefit from, so maybe theyre taking that into consideration and doing 24hour events. but the thing that triggered my reply was "you dont care", so true bro

In regards to Happyguy's question GM events....the key is flavor text usually lasting for about 10 minutes or so. Happyguy mentioned the Tallon Zek GM event inwhich the title "The Discerner" was granted. I participated in this event and was the first to give the correct answer yet I was not the chosen champion :(
We were hunting SGs in Oasis and a zone message came across The winds begin to smell of rot as the dead rise...or something like that. after a long series of messages and a warning to go the blue flame (spectre tower) the GM met up with us and we began our trek to Rathe MNTs. GM events happen anywhere anytime but usually in the evenings from what I've seen in my meager year and seven months of play.

ok time to fix this once and for all =)
During the story for Meldrath spreading Bertoxxul's plague in the Karana's I sat and cheered him on.. even convinced him to trust me to aid him in his works. I was rewarded with a coin and told to go to Neriak to turn it in.. I recieved a VERY nice ring from Inoruk's highest priest. I think it's AC 5, Mana 15 and i KNOW it's SV Magic 20.. which is the only part I care about =)

You get the coins for roleplaying/participating at GM events. My friend got one to turn into Lord Nethryn the Arbitraro in Felwithe during the Firiona Vie GM event in Gfay. He was one of eight lucky participants. He is a ranger. your class determines what you get when you turn in the coin. He got some sort of blessed cloak. It was 12ac plus some to STR i think and +10 to all resistances; very nice. The items are no drop, but they are probably worth keeping. If there is ever a GM event around or near Neriak, or one involving dark elves, I would guess that coins will be given out.
gimme a break
# Jun 13 2001 at 1:35 PM Rating: Default
There is no quest to get the coin. It is from the GM events, such as the recent one in Lesser Faydark. Don't ask me HOW they earned the coins, or if it was just a random list. But I am sure only a few people are entitled to coins, its quite unlikely that a deity could have four-hundred heroes, if you know what I mean. Only a select few.

I have run across an NPC Bard in Freeport (west I think) who if you ask him to tell you of his adventures will sing a song about a time when as he was running through the Karanas, a beautiful woman with long black curly hair followed him transporting him to the Realm of Music. He participated in a concert there and afterwards was taken by the woman to the Realm of Heros for she was so taken by his music. I don't think it's connected but it is similar. BTW, this guy wasn't there before the last big patch.

Is there any way that I can tell if a GM is starting an event in the zone, and if so, what level do I have to be to do it? btw everyone! I knew someone on the Saryrn server and on the Tallon Zek server who both had titles, much like the ones on the ROH quest people. The first person's title was "something the Discerning". I asked him about it and he said it was a GM quest that got him the name. Also on Tallon, I saw a troll warrior with the title "something the Champion". Could someone please explain if these are related to the RoH quests? I know you don't have to kill anything big because the "discerning" person was level 17, and said he had to answer a riddle, if you win, you get the name, lose, and you die. BTW, both people were darkies, Dark Elf and Troll.

a coin and a rod
# May 13 2001 at 9:12 AM Rating: Default
In neriak commons, in the water (40, -783), i found an "Old Silver Coin" and "a rod"
Both are magic/lore/nodrop.
I assume the coin is the one that was mentioned in the first post (by the blind fish?).
But what about the rod? Does anyone know what that is for?
RE: a coin and a rod
# Jul 27 2001 at 1:08 AM Rating: Default
The coins found in the water in various cities around Norrath (including the ones in Neriak) are for an Enchanter Quest for one of their high level spells. The rods are part of a high-level Wizard quest. Please leave both alone, as they are no-drop, take a while to spawn after someone picks one up, and are useless to anybody not doing the quests.

Ok, what the quest is ACTUALLY ABOUT!!!!
# Apr 17 2001 at 3:12 AM Rating: Default
THERE IS A BENEFIT FOR DOING ROLEPLAYING!!!!

Yes, this is a gm-sponsored, role-playing quest idea. When gm's do roleplaying quests (like the coming of Lanys T'Vyl and the plague in the Karanas that have been about lately) they occasionally reward players for not being powergamers and by caring about lore, history, and roleplaying with a coin..

*and a lightbulb lights above your head*

The coin is not useless, nonetheless, and can be turned into various npc's based on which race you are, where and why you got the coin, etc. for various items, so I have heard..
I've not had the chance to do any such quests because my server kinda sucks about alerting anyone about things that are going on, so I can't tell you exactly what you get from turning in the coin.

Don't ask a gm, they can't tell you.

But that's my 2cp. Hope it gets you back on the right track and off of killing random people in newbie areas..
RE: Killing Random Newbie Guys?
# Apr 17 2001 at 3:18 AM Rating: Default
Nobody said anything about killing people in newbie zones! But the coins do come from the quests given out by various gm's on your server.

They did mention the coins from the quests, actually.. it was just skimmed over.

And, oddly enough, I don't follow Inny, I follow Bristlebane, and I'm a rogue, but this guy considers me warmly, and was only indiff to a fellow rogue who did follow inny.. more random facts to make your brains wander.

btw, the coins are from gm quests.
Somthing to Think About
# Mar 26 2001 at 4:44 AM Rating: Default
Just a thought here:

The Ogre guy Kizmak the Tyrant hates Tier'dal and says that the union is not good.

The Tier'dal one doesn't like the good race union

Has anyone though that maybe for the Ogre one you
have to kill the Tier'dal quest giver and for
the Tier'dal one you have too kill the guy in Freeport?
Maybe these actual quest guys drop the Coin?
Just a thought how else would you prove your faith too your god unless you killed one of your God's supposed foes according too your gods Chosen Champion (ie Realm of Heroes)
Cool reward

Last night, I was the sole participant in a GM even that started in South Ro. As a reward, I was given a coin to turn in to Vorshar. When I did, I received experienc, a few coin, and the Impenetrable Mask of Al'Kabor: ac9, mana +10, hp +10. I thought it was pretty cool;)

THINK I HAVE SOMETHIN!
# Mar 08 2001 at 1:10 PM Rating: Default
ok i have read most of em... here it goes.

the troll hero killed high elves, which scared the high elves. the troll made them think they were all being killed from vampires in mistmore. the high elf hero talks about mistmore, and how they have been busy so the high elves sent out a plague. a plague is what is troubling the people in qeynos. that is for that part.

the other part is of the combine empires. all three the ogre halfling and DE talk about this combined empire, so they are all linked.

i may be talking in jibberish, but i see them as all being linked, i havent read them all yet, so both these parts may actually link together somewhere.

The part with the plague is misunderstood, Nethryn refers to the Lycanthropy virus as he speaks about a disease it has nothing to do with the plagues that dread Qeynos as they are released by the Blood Sabres and the Heretics.
Oh and as Vorshar mentions the Combin Empire was an alliance between most of the light races of Norrath not only the human one.
RE: THINK I HAVE SOMETHIN!
# Mar 08 2001 at 10:22 PM Rating: Default
If you read the book that comes with EQ, the combine empire was the human nation that existed in times past. It fell leaving Qeynos, Freeport, and High Hold as seperate city-states.

I would have to agree that the quests are of the same story line. They show that in one form or another every race has had the chance to enter the realm of heros. Each of the people had a strong link to thier diety and one would presume that anyone attempting to complete a section of the quest must have a strong relation to thier diety. I wonder if it isn't some unreleased plane where uber folks turn in the related quest items to spend a bit of time bash'n in the Realm. then need to repeat it after thier time in the realm is done. ie returned to world

Deity related?
# Mar 08 2001 at 1:50 AM Rating: Decent
On one of the other quests listed here, someone suggested that the quests are deity related. Which would make a ton of sense, considering how much this dude talks about hate and Innoruuk and the suchlike. Anyhow, I found this guy a few days ago, and he wouldn't give me the whole story... just up to the Combine part, wouldn't respond to anything after that. But then I'm only lvl 44 so that could have something to do with it; also I'm agnostic. Which would really really suck if these quests were limited to just worshippers of a specific deity, cause they look pretty durn cool. Ah well, that's what I get for taking the safe route I guess. ;)

RE: Deity related?

try asking about the combine era, and not the combine empire. it's a keyword trick

Yeah, that worked. Thanks. :-P

I see that apparently this quest has been solved as well... just read about the N Qeynos one happening on a couple of servers. Wonder if they all happened at the same time?

I believe the reference in the Harpys head tavern is to 'coin' and means the coinage from the fallen knight not a single coin....

Transcript as follows from http://www.everquest.com/hht/quests/hq_Teir.jsp

-----------

The knight fell, and his Bracer latched onto Lanys as the new owner. She smiled grimly, then bowed her head in prayer. I took this opportunity to reward the fallen knight's barbed leg plates to the young cleric, promising that in time, she, too, would have a teacher, one that would show her just what her fate as a Daughter would be.

Lanys saw fit to take the coin from me and give it to a young dark one. Methinks she fancied him, but perhaps I will see him on the sacrificial table before her work is done

Well if there is any connection, this would back up the theory of a GM having to give you a coin, since the character Lanys is played by a GM.

My Idea
# Mar 06 2001 at 7:22 AM Rating: Default
is that these guys are just there, and when GM events happen, they'll have a bunch of GMs actually doin the event, but then they'll also have some watching.. and people who do important stuff (not just the ones who right click the dead GM mob's corpse first) would be given a coin that they could turn in to this guy for a random item or something. I'm sure I'm wrong, but it's a good idea =)
Coin Depicting Innoruuk
# Mar 06 2001 at 4:42 AM Rating: Decent
Found a "Coin Depicting Innoruuk" in Howling Stones once...

Was before these Realm of Hero's quests were in game though. The coin was magic, lore and no rent. Had 1 charge of clarity to boot.

Might give that a shot

Don't let the fact that the coin dropped before the Realm of Heroes quests were implemented, Verant has been know for putting quest items in game well in advance of the actual quest.

This is gonna sound stupid, but anyone who has handed the coin from HS in, do you follow Innoruuk.

I aplogize for the question, but sometimes the simplest answer is the right one =)
