This quest begins with Captain Bvellos in Kael Drakkel (roams from the arena to the bank to the palace area).
You say, 'Hail, Captain Bvellos' Captain Bvellos says 'Greetings, _____. I am the captain of the Kael militia. I will be watching those of your kind who have come to Kael Drakkel as mercenaries and bounty hunters. You may have come here to serve king Tormax but Kael is my home and I intend to keep it a safe place for the Kromzek. Keep yourself out of trouble or you will end up in a world of pain.' You say, 'I will keep Kael safe.' Captain Bvellos says 'With the influx of [mercenaries] into Kael Drakkel, I have seen minor crimes increase. I have had to increase my militia patrols. A majority of my militia work longer hours than they did before. There was a time when we only had to watch for the dragons from the sky and the Coldain from the outside. Now we must watch within.' You say, 'What about mercenaries?' Captain Bvellos says 'I have several bounties open if you are interested. Bring me the head of a Coldain and I will reward you with a small sum of money and spread the word of your good work. There is also a bounty upon the nefarious Icepaw kobolds who serve the outcast Velketor. I require four of the paws of those little beasts.' In exchange for a Coldain Head, you receive a few platinum pieces and a substantial faction increase with King Tormax. (Note: An easy way to test your faction standing with King Tormax is to exit the bank and turn hard left. Before you get to the Icy Bridge, stop and con Dlammaz Stormslayer who is across the bridge and to the left.) Captain Bvellos says, 'Excellent, ______. Here is the bounty as promised.' Your faction standing with Kromzek has been adjusted by 40 Your faction standing with Kromrif has been adjusted by 10 Your faction standing with King Tormax has been adjusted by 10 Your faction standing with Claws of Veeshan has been adjusted by -20 You gain experience!! In exchange for 4x Kobold Paw, you get a Silvery Mask, an Antlered Mask, or a Giant Scalemail Tunic: Captain Bvellos says 'You have done well to hunt down these foul dogs.' Captain Bvellos reaches into a large bag and pulls something shiny from within its depths 'Take this as a reward.' ahh my bad, it says claws of veeshan down but still wondering about how to turn the stuff in if i am kos to everything in kael.
If you are KOS to the Kromzek (the storm giant faction Captain Bvellos is on) then you almost certainly won't be able to do this quest. It now requires at least indifferent faction. (That recently changed, by the way. Before the change you could do the quest while dubious.)
Unless you can find a way to raise your faction to at least indifferent, you are out of luck with respect to this quest.

im kos to all the giants on every faction so how would i turn in the heads to this guy if i cant even get near him without getting the hell beaten out of me. oh and does this give any faction down to anything?

they are coldain head and you can kill in sewer in thurg to get them it is uber easy to abtain them

Does anyone know if it's possible to turn in Coldain heads to this guy if you're KOS to him?

Got Bored and killed dorfs inside Thurg for another two days and now max ally with Storm and Ice Giants. Still dub to king but I haven't went out head collecting again.

Oh Btw.. Just to have a bit of fun... At Level 48 my warrior in mostly Crusty with some cobalt and cleric buffs (50ish) Can Pull a corpse from the Arena to WL or EW zone without Dying :) The Trains are Super.. Please make sure you don't train anybody in the process.
Our Cleric went LD and we had to Evac from the Arena. I logged in my war and pulled the corpse without problem. My Recond to date is 31 Giants on me. I would have died without the cleric buffs but it was way cool.
Also a few more things about Factions I found out.
If I die (I'm Dub+ to all Keal) because I was pulling a corpse nobody can pull my corpse because it is KOS. If somebody does die trying to pull my corpse they can pull their own corpse but not mine. I died in the king room because of a small stupidty on my part.. hit the A and not the C... Opps.. a cleric ran up and offered to pull my corpse. He got killed in the process. He just ran back to his body and was able to pull it but if I pulled my corpse or he tried to pull my corpse we would become KOS in the process.. I love VI =)

Turned in another 64 paws (16 more faction Bumps) and went to Ally with Storm Giants, Warm to Ice Giants, and Dubious to King.
I'm going to hopefully collect another 80 paws over the next couple of days.

I was "Can't get any worse" with Riff and Zek, now I'm ally Zek, dubious Riff and dubious King...it took me about 100 heads or so.
The whole affair took about a week. Now I'm wearing Templar`s! :D

I have heard that there are dorfs that give coldain heads and are not associated with the Coldain Faction. Is this true? I believe they said it was in EW. I like having both dorf and giant faction and want another option to SS.

There is an outpost in EW that have non Thurgfaction Coldains. Do not aggro the cooks or warriors, just the bodyguards/Capt. They are blue to 57. Good exp as well :) You can con them and prety much tell which are which. I believe they are on CC fac thou, so if you need to farm silks for the shawl quest be wary. ( could be wrong not going to C to test the theory ;) )

An FYI,
I have collected 8 coldain heads by killing Lesser Tar Goos in the Thurg Mines. They drop a head about every 4 kills. The 8 heads dropped for me in about 3 hours of camping there. Enter the mines and go right, down the ladder and hunt that entire area. From level 38 to 42 it is easy exp, rarely camped, very small aggro range, numerous safe spots to med and clearly discernible spawn points... makes for some rapid dinging!

I turned in 9 Heads and went from Dub to Appr on Capt Bvellos. I'm now Amb to Storm Giants and Appr to the rest of the Ice Giants... 9 heads only moved me from KOS to Threat with the King..

I spent a couple levels soloing on frost giants. I probably killed a hundred or less. I started teh bounty quest to do one quest in KD, and 32 heads later I'm still kos to tormax and frost giants, yet ally to storm giants. I never got to teh point where my faction with frost giants "could not get any worse." I'm wondering how many freaking heads I need to turn in to get at least 1 faction up?!
Also, I am hunting for heads in the mines since I'm kindly to Coldain. Is the kromrif faction like COV and Coldain? In that your faction won't raise at all until your kos to coldain? Does anyone know of someone with both giant and coldain faction?

the faction hit with the Kromrif is just really really small. i started by killing some coldain till i was dub to Rif and Zek, then i just turned in heads to Captain Bvellos. after around 24 to 26 heads (bout 5 levels and a week or two in the mines) i'm now kindly with Zek, dub to Rif and threat to King. i can tell that my Rif faction has been raise a little because some of the frost giants will talk to me, but most just tell me to get lost (love them talking dogs). for the most part your gonna have to mess up your coldain faction pretty badly to get anywhere fast with the Frost Giants

Derakor the Vindicator and temple guys is not diety based. Rallos Zek worshiping Troll is kos to Derakor.

The coldain heads can be done at level 30, mainly kill the Coldain Wolfmasters in Great Divide, and they drop heads, but from what I know. Its not a common drop to get a head. Sometimes they can drop like crazy and on other times, you'll be waiting a long while. The kobold paws do require you to be level 50. Thats probably why the string said minimum level of 50.

i am a 31 ranger and am killing Dwarfs (in a group) and turning the heads into Cptn. Bvellous(sp?), i have been since 29...the info says from 50-60?? When you kill enough wolves and Dwarfs, you can turn the heads into Bvellous without going to the recruiter first, saves some time=)

They didnt remove the captian. What happened was someone killed him. The kael militia captian is his PH. He must be killed for the captian to pop and there is still a chance he will not pop. Also from what ive heard he is on a 2 1/2 hour spawn time

Umm I was heading into Kael today to hand in my hard earned skulls - and there on Captain Bvellos spot was an other Militia Captain - how is NOT giveing faction or anything for the dorf skulls !
Anybody know if they removed him from the game ? to make raising King faction ALOT harder ? - or just put him in a different spot in Kael !
And if they removed him from the game - how the hell are we supose to gain King faction now ?

The named do not spawn every time anymore. People kill Bvellos to get a cool warrior neck item. So a Bvellos PH may be up.

As of 5/5/01, handing in 4 Icepaw kobold paws result in random reward and not always silvery mask/antlered mask. Out of 4 sets of 4 paws, I received (in this order) giant scale mail, silver mask, giant scale mail, silver mask.

Is there an item called coldain skulls? or are they referring the coldain heads?
Coldain Heads are accepted by Bvellos. I don't know if there are also Skulls.

However, when I head past the arena and the icewall, everything in that area still scowls at me (Deraklor the Vindicator (sp?), Temple Guardians, etc). From what I've read, my necro class quest npc is back there somewhere. Can someone tell me how to raise this faction so I won't feel like I killed all those dwarves for nothing? I haven't done any dragon killing yet. Is that what does the trick?

You are going to the wrong area. That area is NOT on king faction. King is on the opposite side of the zone.
The quest guys are behind King Tormax's throne room. From EW go down to the bank and go past the bank and up the ramp on the right side of the bank. Go over the ice bridge (con the Dlammaz(sp?) guy first to check your King faction before crossing the bridge) and down into the Kings room. Go up past the King and you will find a hallway full of quest NPCs.

You have to turn in ALOT of heads to Captain Bvelous (not the other guy that takes them) to get faction with King Tormax. You must turn in MANY MANY MANY dorf heads....
