This is the 7th Crusader test.

You say, 'Hail, Arch Duke Xog'

Arch Duke Xog says, 'These are the sacred unholy grounds of the Crusaders of Greenmist and the Scaled Mystics. If you do not belong to us, you must leave this temple at once or learn great suffering in the name of Cazic-Thule.'

You say, 'What about the Crusaders of Greenmist?'

Arch Duke Xog appears surprised at your words. 'You know of Greenmist? The Unholy Khukri of Rile? We once had knowledge of this weapon, but when our great cities were destroyed in 1056 A.G., so, too, were all the great libraries. We lost all records. An explorer named [Argest] claimed to have found one library still intact. Pure babble.'

You say, 'Who is Argest?'

Arch Duke Xog says 'Once a Lord of Pain, Argest is now a great explorer. No lizard has seen more of Kunark than he. He returned one season ago to tell tales of an [ancient library]. He said that he believed that there he would find a tome which would reveal the location of the ancient crusader weapon, Greenmist.'

You say, 'What about the ancient libraries?'

Arch Duke Xog says 'There are many ancient libraries yet to be discovered. Our once great cities have been decimated, if not by our foes, then by nature itself. Within the outlands are many ruins which have yet to reveal themselves. We look forward to the discovery of these ruins by such explorers as Lord [Argest] the Great.'

You say, 'Where is argest?'

Arch Duke Xog becomes despondent at your question. 'Alas, our chance of locating Greenmist is lost as long as Argest remains missing. Reports have come in from the Legion's deep range patrols that he may be in the Frontier Mountain range. At least, that is where the patrol captain found Argest's walking staff. He might have been captured, killed or even digested!!'

PART I

First you must collect six scrolls. The scrolls are located in the following places:

I is dropped by the "failed crypt raider" in Kaesora.

He also drops a note that reads:

I have found one more of the scrolls and have learned the final three were en route to be rescribed in some ancient city called Torsis. When I find them I shall see that the final four are rejoined in my masters realm.

The reference to Torsis leads you to the City of Mist.

II, III, and IV are dropped by the Spectral Courier.

V is dropped by the dark librarian in Castle Mistmoore.

VI is dropped by the dark librarian assistant in Castle Mistmoore.

PART II

After collecting the scrolls, you must see and free the imprisoned Argest.

In the Frontier Mountains goblin caves at approximately -2110, +1720, -435, kill "a goblin penkeeper" and "a goblin penmaster" (and place holders) until you loot:

A Bone Key
A Bone Necklace
A Stone Key

An enslaved iksar (wearing chain armor) is found in the goblin caves at approximately -2165, +1635, -435 (left side spawn, the placeholder is "an iksar slave" on Legion of Cabilis faction).

You say, 'Hail, an enslaved iksar'

an enslaved iksar looks up at you. You can tell his spirit is broken. His scars speak of a severe beating.

You say, 'Where are the scrolls of Vok Na Zov?'

an enslaved iksar says, 'Forget them. I believe all six scrolls lie in the [Kaesora Library] and that is no safe place for any explorer. The scrolls are not readable by any living person, but I came here in search of a machine which may be able to decipher them, the [Stupendous Contraption]. Should you return to Cabilis, see that the Arch Duke hears of the scrolls.'

You say, 'What is this Stupendous Contraption?'

an enslaved iksar says, 'I have learned it was a machine tinkered by a legendary gnome. It has many uses. It lies in the slave pens of Droga. Perhaps it may be used to decipher the [Scrolls of Vok Na Zov]. I have leearned that it will not work without a [contraption needle]. Luckily I have found one in my journeys.'

You say, 'I need the contraption needle.'

an enslaved iksar says, 'The contraption needle is a piece of the machine, the [Stupendous Contraption]. It won't operate without it and if you want it, you're going to have to bring me the [pen keys].'

You say, 'Which pen keys?'

an enslaved iksar says, 'Pen keys!! I need the pen keys to get out of here! Find the ones who hold these keys. Bring me the key to pen number 1 and both keys to the pen gates. Do so and I shall give you the [contraption needle].'

Hand him the three keys.

an enslaved iksar says, 'Oh no!! The bargain was, you bring me the keys to the main gates and the pen key to cell one.'
an enslaved iksar says, 'Oh no!! The bargain was, you bring me the keys to the main gates and the pen key to cell one.'
an enslaved iksar escapes with a flash, but before he goes, he speaks, 'At last!! The keys which shall bring me freedom! I thank you and here is the contraption needle. Good luck.'

You receive a Coarse Iron Needle.

In the Temple of Droga jail area, find "a goblin prison warden" at -52, +1078, -251. It drops Droga Jail Key (Temporary, used for opening jail doors). This is for the post revamp version of the zone. For the TLP version of this zone, you'll need someone to pick the locks.

In the pottery wheel (called Tinmizer's Stupendous Contraption) at -197, +1114, -249, combine:

Coarse Iron Needle
Illegible Scroll
Illegible Scroll
Illegible Scroll
Illegible Scroll
Illegible Scroll
Illegible Scroll

This produces a Stupendous Tome. Turn in this item along with your Hero's Khukri to Arch Duke Xog to complete the quest.

Arch Duke Xog says, 'A true crusader would have brought to me what I requested. The Hero Khukri and the Tome of Vok Na Zov.'

Arch Duke Xog says, 'A legible tome of the scrolls of Vok Na Zov! What a find this is!! May the unholy curses of Cazic flow through you. Please accept the weapon of a Lord of Pain. To abandon it is to abandon our ways and earn yourself the hatred of our order.'

Your faction standing with Crusaders Of Greenmist got better.
Your faction standing with Legion Of Cabilis got better.
You gain experience!! (20% of an AA at Level 59)
You receive 7 platinum from Arch Duke Xog.

You receive the Grand Lord Khukri.

Just finished this quest on live, this is what you're possibly getting into.

Kaesora: 2h15
Mistmoore: 4h00
City of mist: 3h00 (9 spawns for all 3 scrolls)
Frontier mountains: 3h30

For the logs it took me roughly 13h00 total to get all 6 scrolls. The 3 keys for droga about 3h30. So with the running around (jboots + pok books) about 17h30 but YMMV. I feel I got lucky with the COM scrolls getting only one double. That one could have been longer. I was bracing for the Failed crypt raider too reading the horror stories but I feel like I may have gotten decent RNG and people aren't always camping the right spots. The stone key, I got in like 7 cycles so I can see that one possibly dragging on too.

I've left info under the mobs/item entries when relevant. Overall a bit longer than the previous step but much less painful since I've had bad luck with one of the imprecators.

Here is some additional dialogue that I noticed was missing from the writeup:

[Sun Aug 20 13:37:18 2023] You say, 'Kaesora Library'
[Sun Aug 20 13:37:18 2023] An enslaved iksar says, 'Oh! You heard of the ancient library I discovered in Kaesora? I think the six [scrolls of Vok Na Zov] may lie there. I have not yet actually found the location of the library and it is very dangerous to lurk within the ruins of Kaesora. I would not venture there if I were you.'

Also, there is a typo with two e's in "learned" in the writeup that does not appear in game:

Quote:
an enslaved iksar says, 'I have learned it was a machine tinkered by a legendary gnome. It has many uses. It lies in the slave pens of Droga. Perhaps it may be used to decipher the [Scrolls of Vok Na Zov]. I have leearned that it will not work without a [contraption needle]. Luckily I have found one in my journeys.'

Clarification on Goblins for TLP

I recently completed the Greenmist series of quests on the Yelinak TLP and wanted to provide some additional context on the goblins because I found online resources very confusing.

The goblins for part II of this quest exist in a strange in-between state on Time-Locked Progression servers that is not original as on P99, but not fully post-revamp as on EQ Live. The guides you see here and elsewhere are only ever partially correct for TLP, which wasted my time and effort in completing the quest.

As stated in the walkthrough here, "a goblin penkeeper" and "a goblin penmaster" are out in in the caves in Frontier Mountains, NOT exclusively inside the Droga jail as on P99. However, there is an ADDITIONAL "a goblin penkeeper" spawn in the Droga jail cell you fall into from a trap above. He popped three times in a few hours for me and appeared to have the same loot table as the penkeeper out in Frontier Mountains. I cannot confirm whether the penmaster spawns inside the jail, as I never saw him.

As a previous commenter stated, you do need a rogue or bard with pick lock to get in and out of the jail and access the room with the Stupendous Contraption. "A goblin prison warden" does not exist on TLP.

This quest 7 takes substantially longer than the previous. Camping the spectral in city of mist pops in the left side of stables and the right, both in interior rooms. Crypt raider pops in the Kaesora library and placeholders could be any that roam pathing through the building or the static on the first floor. Librarian spawns in Mistmoore castle in the room to the right after going up the stairs in the grand foyer entrance. Room looks like a library. The assistant spawns opposite there in the room far left coming up the stairs, a bedroom and a study with a fireplace.

Goblin penkeepers and penmasters spawn in frontier mountains on live and on TLP in the caves in the southwest quadrant. The room has the two iksar slaves, the enslaved which you need, so you know it the right place. After all that you need to plan a trip to temple of droga jail regardless to combine in the pottery wheel there. There is a trap pit in the floor above that will allow you to fall into the jail cell and exit a fake wall into the center. The locked cell with the stupendous machine you need access to will require a rogue or bad that CAN pick the lock.

This is on Agnarr.

Update: this is the status of this quest on Agnarr as of the date of this posting:

- The Penkeeper and Penmaster DO spawn in the Goblin Caves in the southwest corner of FM. They will, eventually, drop all 3 keys needed. The rarest one seems to be the necklace shaped key. I did this during a time period when rare spawns happened more often and it took 8-10 hours, much of which was waiting for the pen*** PHs to respawn which is about 20 mins.

- the Machine still only exists in the Droga jails, where very nasty and fangy spiders and other things live which are dark blue to lvl 65's, and have lots of HP. My lvl 65 WAR with 224 AAs, elemental, and some Time gear got killed by adds down there while scouting. The good news is, nothing sees invis, at least that I encountered. Since getting the keys to the Droga jail down there now is impossible if you don't have a group of 65's, I (Iksar) zoned in, immediately slurped 2 shrink pots and made myself invisible. I used a pre-nerf Circlet of Shadows, but you could probably also use Cloudy Potions. Fortunately invis did not drop and I got into the jail cell via the pit drop, went through the fake wall and then crouched down and squeezed through the jail cell door to the cell with the machine. Which had a bigass spider in it. But invis did not drop when I loaded and operated the machine and I got out still invis'd, again squeezing through the main jail cell door and heading to a nearby empty corridor, where I launched Origin. Naturally a pather chose that moment to see me, but I was lucky and arrived in Cabilis rooted and dotted, but alive. Even if I died at least I had the combine done and had the Stupendous Tome.

Did the turn in to Zog and am now ready to start on Greenmist, at lvl 39.
As of this date, on Agnarr...Droga is high lvl sooooo...

...it can't be where the quest happens anymore. Penmaster AND Penkeeper are spawning in the goblin caves in FM, but so far I haven't gotten the final 'key' I need, the bone necklace. Not sure where to find the stupendous machine either.

As of June 13, 2016 I've been in the Frontier Mountains camping A Goblin Penkeeper and have yet to see him spawn, I am in the cave with both the Iksar slaves, I've seen the Penmaster spawn multiple times over my 3 day camp and still continuing. Anyone know if this quest is broken or am I doing something wrong? How can I get this dude to spawn? /sigh

Well I have been camping Penkeeper on and off for a week now in FM on Ragefire Progressive server, as well as other SKs, and no one has seen him spawn in that time. I am pretty sure he is still broken. Looks like I will not be doing this quest after all, being on RF Velious will be out soon and this weap will be obsolete.

Argest, the lost and imprisoned crusader is located in the Temple of Droga. Kill many, many penskeepers and penmasters (and their place holders) until you obtain the keys listed below:

Next, use the keys to get to the inner jail area. Now wait until an iksar prisoner wearing gold chain type armor spawns in the iksar jail cell (during daytime). This is Argest.

With Droga revamp, all this has changed. This takes place in the goblin caves now.

With the revamp of Droga, the Bone Key, Bone Necklace, and Stone Key are no longer used to open the locked doors/gates in the jail area. Now, there is a TEMPORARY item called Droga Jail Key which drops off of a goblin prison warden and a goblin janitor within Temple of Droga.

This key opens all locked gates/cell doors in the jail area.

I have read many of prior posts here. Most of the postings (and all of them that occur after the Droga revamp) mention that the method used by people to access the jail area is to shrink and walk through the gates. It makes sense to me now why everyone used this method due to the fact the key to the locked doors/gates has changed from the Bone Key, Bone Necklace, Stone Key to the Droga Jail Key.

The goblin prison warden is in the room that is immediately east of the area where you need to open the two locked gates to enter the jail area (Location = -100, +1100). This is the room east of Room #6 on the EQ Atlas map.

The goblin janitor is in one of the jail cells; the one whose cell door is off its hinges and lying on the ground (Location = -280, +1180).

Anyone gotten penkeeper to spawn lately? Ive spent well over 60 hours camping in the Caves with Argest in them. I have seen the penmaster MANY times, but have yet to see penkeeper spawn once.

I have been clearing the entire cave too, not just the room Argest is in.

Anyone?

As per several posts on this thread, the locations of Argest and the Penkeepers and Panmasters are all in Frontier mountains, Argest is named "an enslaved iksar" as indicated in the related creatures link. Rather than "an iksar prisoner" as indicated in the quest write up.

The conversation with Argest is documented in Kimlerin's post, and Tamud did a very thorough walkthrough on the quest.

Here's some flavor text for the quest, took me a few minutes to figure out what the key phrase to get this guy talking was:

You say, "Hail, an enslaved iksar."

An enslaved iksar looks up at you. You can tell his spirit is broken. His scars speak of a severe beating.

You say, "What are the scrolls of Vok Na Zov?"

An enslaved iksar says, "Forget them. I believe all six scrolls lie in the [Kaesora Library] and that is no safe place for any explorer. The scrolls are not readable by any livng person, but I came here in search of a machine which may be able to decipher them, the [Stupendous Contraption]. Should you return to Cabilis, see that the Arch Duke hears of the scrolls."

You say, "Tell me about the Kaesora Library."

An enslaved iksar says, "Oh!! You heard of the ancient library I discovered in Kaesora? I think the six scrolls of [Vok Na Zov] may lie there. I have not yet actually found the location of the library and its very dangerous to lurk within the ruins of Kaesora. I would not venture there if I were you."

(Seems I got the order backwards, heh.)

You say, "What is the Stupendous Contraption?"

An enslaved iksar says, "I have learned it was a machine tinkered by a legendary gnome. It has many uses. It lies in the slave pens of Droga. Perhaps it may be used to decipher the [Scrolls of Vok Na Zov]. I have leearned that it will not work without a [contraption needle]. Luckily I have found one in my journies."

You say, "Fork over the contraption needle, hombre."

An enslaved iksar says, "The contraption needle is a piece of the machine, the [Stupendous Contraption]. It won't operate without it and if you want it, you're going to have to bring me the [pen keys]."

You say, "You're not even locked up, why do you need pen keys?"

An enslaved iksar says, "Pen keys!! I need the pen keys to get out of here! Find the ones who hold these keys. Bring me the key to pen number 1 and both keys to the pen gates. Do so and I shall give you the [contraption needle]."

Hand him "A Stone Key," "A Bone Key," and "A Bone Necklace" and he makes his getaway:

An enslaved iksar escapes with a flash, but before he goes, he speaks, "At last!! The keys which shall bring me freedom! I thank you and here is the contraption needle. Good luck."

You gain experience!

My 57 sk gnome did this quest.

failed crypt raider - camped the library in Kaesora for about two hours. A 68 bst guildie kept all the pops cleared but raider never came. Logged for bedtime at the far side of the fountain that is south of library bldg. Next morning logged the sk back on and there in front of him was the raider.

While keeping the library area cleared, be aware that the iksar spectre is on Overthere faction (Venril Sathir) and the tortured librarian is on two Cabilis factions (Brood of Kotiz and Legion of Cabilis).

To leave the zone without using a gate potion, reference your eqatlas map and head south then west/north to area #3. Take the west tunnel and turn north towards the FoB zone. You will fall down a pit to area #2. Head west and keep following the tunnel towards the Towers area..but just before you get there you'll reach the last 4-way intersection shown on the Main Level map. Take the east tunnel and keep following it as it winds around, passes underneath area #7 and winds around again. Keep following it until after it passes over close to area #2. Don't take the first eastern tunnel that leads back to area #3, instead keep going north until the tunnel turns east towards the 4-way intersection that is next to the FoB zone-in.

spectral courier - spawned three times in same place...stables, eastern half, first room on the left. Dropped a different scroll each time, no repeats. Took about an hour or so.

librarian and assistant librarian - as the previous posts have said, the Castle Mistmoore revamp has moved these mobs to Lessor Faydark. They and their spawnbuddies (or placeholders) are at area #8. There are about 5 mobs (mostly named) standing right at the shrine and 5 more (initates and familiars) in the surrounding area. No need to bother with the initiates and familiars, just clear the shrine. The pops are slow but the assistant and librarian will soon appear. This part of the quest took about an hour.

Argest, penskeepers and penmasters - As per previous posts, Temple of Droga had a revamp in mid 2003. These mobs are now in a tunnel complex in Frontier Mountains directly east of the Burning Woods zone-in. Specifically, they are in the southern-most cavern there. The penmasters and their spawnbuddies pop in about 4-5 diff places in that cavern. In the back of the cavern are two spawnpoints that had iksar mobs. I saw the right-side pop "a crazed iksar slave" which turned out to be a Forsaken, and "an iksar slave" which was an NPC for an iksar monk quest. The left side popped "an iksar slave" (same name but not the same NPC as the one on the right-side) and "an enslave iksar slave". The enslaved is Argest.

Took less than an hour of goblin clearing to get all three keys. Killing the crazed slave gave same faction as killing a Forsaken. Unfortunately, killing the iksar slave on the left was necessary to make the enslaved pop...this gave a hit to Legion of Cabilis and Scaled Mystics. Only had to do it once though. Turn-in resulted in getting A Coarse Iron Needle.

The combiner is still in Temple of Droga and worked for me. Sk went to jail area (#6 in eqatlas map) from Frontier Mt zone in. Invis all the way, only dropped invis once. Retreated to safe area and reinvised without a fight. No mobs see invis along the way. They con anywhere from dark blue to red to a level 57 toon.

The room marked as #6 is the outer jail area. There are about 5-6 mobs there. On the south side is the entrance to the inner jail area, blocked by two closed cell doors. My gnome simply walked thru both so I never had to get keys. There are no mobs in the inner jail area, however, there are four jail cells there with one prisoner in the far right cell. One of the center cells has a broken cell door with a goblin janitor in it. The combiner, which looks like a pottery wheel, is in the far left cell and has no mob. No mob agroed while my sk was in there. The combiner cell has a closed cell door which my gnome walked thru.

If you need keys, there is a post that says that a bone necklace" and "a bone key" will each open one of the two doors to the inner area, and that "a bronze key" will open the combiner cell door. Or just use shrink to walk thru the bars.

After the successful combine, the mage on my other box did a CoH to get the sk out.

Good luck,
Shadome

Great Post Tamud : )

As a Dark Elf I was having faction issues. I first tried getting a chanter friend to charm him for me. No good, @ lvl 68 with a uber charm spell, he couldn't get an enslaved iksar charmed. So I popped my illusion potion. Didn't change faction a bit. He still Scowled at me. So I went to work building faction.

I started off clearing the fort in Warsilik woods 10 times to get the Trooper Mozo to take bone chips, then I fed him 3k bone chips to get him Crusader Quarg to Dubious.

Now, when I went inside, I was thinking from all these posts that only Necro's would be scowling at me due to my lack of Brood faction. Not so, quite a few merchantes and the bankers were scowling. Sorely dissapointed I went to the Bank in Pok to grab my keys and scrolls. Went back to Argest and he was still scowling at me. : (

I guessed that he was also that "residents of cablis" faction that I kept reading about. I popped my last Iksar potion, and low and behold, it worked. He went to dubious. In retrospect, I have to assume that only having one, faction or illusion, isn't enough. Maybe it's different at the higher lvl's of faction, but this was my experience.

On a side note, I do not fit in the bars nor can I shrink myself, so I am farming a second set of keys to get to the combiner. Hope this helps people.... I mean Grrr, I hate you all.

Always Works Machine Locations
# Mar 13 2005 at 10:22 PM Rating: Default
Very odd.

I was headed to the Dreadlands to see if Brother Balatin was up and he was. Since I had no force other than myself to take him I decided to jump off the top of one of the spires for fun. When I got the top of the northwest one I saw 5 things that looked like the crystal webshield graphics, one at each corner and then one in the middle. I ran up to the one in the middle and it opened like a box and said "Always Works" at the top.

I wonder if you can use these, no doubt these aren't supposed to be here and if you're in Droga to get the key for the Always Works you can probably just use the one in there. I'm going to find out if you can use these though. More information when I can figure this phenomenon out.

As of the date of this post this quest is bugged. The "wheel" in Droga can not be clicked to combine anything, when you click it you go LD and get booted to the character select screen.

Good luck on your path to Greenmist :(

Have you checked your UI files since tradeskill containers have been changed ? First few days after the patch that brought the tradeskill changes I couldn't use any tradeskill containers, they just won't react to clicks (didn't make the client crash though)...

I just finished this part of the greenmist quest today with my gnome/SK. The wheel in droga worked wonderful and I got my Tome. Being a gnome I actually got to forgo the shrink potions to get in and out of the cells. But I had no problem with the combine.

In retrospect...

after 7 hours of camping here as a 51 SK ..... I can tell you that the 2 Iksar Slave spawns are with the Penkeepers and Penmasters. The Bone Necklace and Key spawn fast ... the final Stone key is harder to get. when you walk into the room the Iksar slave on the left will be the one that needs to be "an Enslaved Iksar"... if it is just an Iksar slave.... ya need to kill him... which sucks bigtime considering you lose faction with Legion of Cabilis and Scaled mystics (I think it is scaled mystics will confirm that).

This is a real big kick in the groin to those of us who are NOT iksar because we worked our tail off (no pun intended) to get great faction with cabilisan residents and guilds. I have already put in a "/feedback" with the GM's on this but .. who knows where that will go.

I had to kill the "a Iksar Slave" 5 times before the "an enslaved iksar", spawned. and he was KOS to me .... now for those of you with this problem... all you need to do is hunt in Dulaks Harbor for Iksar Meat, kill Iksar mobs, they will drop meat as an uncommon. Then go to the Human Female in pirate attire in the lighthouse, in the gulf of gunthak. She sells Wormwood at about 78pp a pop. Make it a 1 -1 ratio of Iksar meat to wormwood. take this to a shaman who has 175 alchemy or better. S/He will make a Iksar Illusion potion lasts for about 27-30 mins I think. I paid for a 10 dose potion to make this easier. You can also save doses and get the visceral dagger, the stupendous tome and the History of the greenmist all ready for one great big turn in party for a single dose. Hope this has been helpful.

** Update **
After calculation, I have camped the Penkeeper/Penmaster Spawn for approximately 75 spawns. At around 20mins for respawn, that works out to 1500 minutes or 25 hours. No ... stone .... key . IHMO this spawn is now worse than that of all 4 of the visceral dagger Imprecators put together. If anyone has any helpful hints or tactics they would like to share please do tell. Thanks

I did the same thing, i camped only the mobs in the room. after about 5 hours of camping I figured the placeholder must not be in the room, and I drug my 64 chanter down and AE'd all 3 rooms. He popped the next round. Unfortunately he didnt drop the right key, he dropped Bronze first and then Copper, and finally Stone. But the trick is to clear the whole place and he will be the 4th spawn in the room.

Yes you are correct... Once you hand him these items then venture into the Temple of Droga ( reccomended getting shrunk enough so you can pass thru the jail cells .. or killing the Janitor for his key. :-)

Where exactly...

Ok I've read every post here, and searched all over the net. Where exactly does the enslaved Iksar spawn with the goblins there who I kill for the three key drops.

Some people say it's in some goblin slave caves in Frontier Mountains. Some say it's in Drooga (which was before the zone revamp). Some say it's in the Mines of Nurga.

I've looked at the FM and MoN maps from EQAtlas and EQMaps, and I can't find any mention of this slave camp thing. No mention of the unique mobs or key drops or whatever. I've gathered so far that the goblins are the penmaster spawns, but goblin camps are both in FM and MoN.

I'd greatly appreciate it if someone would let me know exactly where they are to be found. Thanks in advance.

I have been looking for the exact location of the Penkeepers as well. The only beasiary they are listed in is for FM at the empty bind spot. As for the previous post I think that the goblin caves and the Temple of Droga are the same. Could someone with recent, first hand, knowledge of their exact location please share it with us.

On a side note I fell down the hole and can't find a way back out of the jail area without keys. Anyone know how I can get back out?

It's in a cave almost directly south of Droga near the Burning Wood zoneline. When you enter the cave stick to the right wall until you get into the room with 2 iksars in it. Kill all the goblins in this room. As you walk in the room the Penkeeper spawns to your right close to the door. The Penmaster spawns near the iksar on the right. Hope this isn't getting to you too late.

LOCATION: run west by northwest from the ruins with the soulbinder (who is not named "soulbinder"). You will come across a tunnel with a large stone overhang. This tunnel network has 3 rooms. If you hug the right wall, you will end up in the room with the enslaved iksars.

Lesson learned: sometimes your own eyes are more reliable than a map. And, in the amount of time it took you to be confused and post here, you probably could have stumbled across it yourself with a bit of patience.

-2184, 1724 in Rathe Mountains. Everything above is exactly true, the Enslaved iksar wears a gold armor where the regular iksar slaves are not wearing any. easy to see the difference. Also, the necklace and bone key are common drops, easy to get, the stone key is harder to get, i officially hate this spawn. Since we are on the topic I might point out to any Sony people cruising the boards that 75+ real life hours for a quest which the end result is midlevel at best *aside from bragging rights* is a gross waste of players time. Fix the old stuff instead of rampaging on 100 new expansions that take the soul out of the REAL Everquest.

some help from what ive found out --

this was all done with a 51sk

Scroll 1, Drops from the Failed Crypt raider, i just cleared the inside and outside of the library till he popped.

Scroll 2, 3, 4 -- Ghosts in CoM, they spawn in the following places
________
|.......|
|.......|
|.......|
|-------|
|.X|..|.|
---------
|.......|
---------
|..|....|
|..|....|
|..|....|
|--...--|
|.X|..|X|
|..|..|.|
---------

Scrolls 5 and 6 are in Mistmore as said, to get them, the assistant is on the second floor of the castle, to get there, you take a left after you open the double doors, take a right at the "L" intersection, then clear those bedrooms. She'll pop there.

The Librarian is in the library, closest to the books. thats her only spawn point as i understand.
-----------------------
now this is copied about the keys from another forum on these pages.
-----------------------
Just finished the Stupendous Tome segment of the quest today. It does still work and there is no hailing/talking involved. Here are some observations:

1) You need to turn in the bone necklace, the bone key, and the stone key. All of these drop off the various pen**** goblins which spawn in the two right front spawn points in the room with the Enslaved Iksar.

2) I've only seen the Enslaved pop in the left of the two slave spawn points. Despite losing some cabilis faction I killed the slave that con'd amiable in that left spawn point a couple of times to get the Enslaved to pop. Once he popped he was up for days. I was camping there 3 hours a night for about a week and he was always up, day or night.

3) You may get a bone key in CoM off a Captain of the Guard while camping couriers for illegible scrolls. This bone key is NOT the one the Enslaved Iksar is looking for and I lost my other two keys in the transaction.

4) The stone key was by far the most difficult to come by. Bone and bone necklace were fairly common.

5) Usually made a couple of hundred pp each session here. Was lvl 56 with some cleric buff (temp-hov) and would stay until buff dropped and then run back to PoK to unload and get new buff. Never was concerned for my life except for once where temp dropped, mend was down, and had 4 on me. Even then never did have to feign, down to 20% health.

6) Once in Droga, I've read that you need bone and bone necklace keys to get into jail. So after my turn in to get needle I continued to camp the pen gobs for the two bone keys. When I got to the jail I could not get any of my keys (bone, copper, nickle, iron, steel, or bone necklace) to work. Needless to say I was a bit miffed. Ran back to a safe spot and used mimizing device to get as small as I could and then invised again. This time I was small enough to run through the jail gates and straight to the machine for the combine which was in the cell on the left. It is a no fail combine and no mobs are in jail. Was able to use a field of bone potion with a 30 sec casting time with no worries.

Might want to coordinate your run to the jail when someone is hunting somewhere along the way. Very few safe spots and my invis dropped twice at inopportune times (imagine that.) Was helpful to feign off mobs and then run behind party to have safe spot to heal and invis again. I otherwise did this all solo.

Glasshoppa 62 Iksar Monk
Candylips 54 Troll Beast
Gnomicon 42 Gnome Necro
The Rathe
-----------------

hope this helps!
