"a dwarven smith" is at location 60, 746 in Crushbone.

Hand a dwarven smith a Brass Earring dropped by orc taskmaster.

A dwarven smith says, 'Outstanding! If you can kill the taskmaster, you might prove useful in recovering the items the orcs took from me when they caught me out in the Faydarks. [Interested] in helping me out?'

You gain experience!

You receive Unfinished Blade Mold.

You say, 'I am Interested'

A dwarven smith says, 'Okay, then! The first item you can get back for me is my brass shield. Up on that hill, over where the trainees practice, there is usually an instructor. Last time I saw my shield, it was in the hands of one of those blasted lackeys. Bring it back to me!'

Hand a dwarven smith a Shiny Brass Shield, dropped by an orc trainer.

a dwarven smith says 'MY SHIELD!! Excellent, laddie! Next item on the list is my ringmail. Once I have my ringmail, I am out of here for good. I will finally be able to leave!'

You gain experience!!

You receive an Unfinished Sledge Mold (any known use?).

You say, 'What about ringmail?'

a dwarven smith says 'The king was the last person I heard of who was wearing what sounded like my ringmail. Return it to me and I will reward you with a fine weapon I forged myself.'

Hand a dwarven smith the Dwarven Ringmail Tunic, dropped by Emperor Crush.

a dwarven smith says 'AHA!! My ringmail!! My, you ARE a resourceful one! Here is your reward as promised. It is exquisite, if I do say so myself. You might also wish to tell the priest in the cell over there that the king is dead. I am sure he will be pleased to hear that and might even be able to help you further. Farewell! It's time for me to make my escape!'

You gain experience!!

You receive a Dwarven Mace.

"an elven priest" is located at 84, 744 in Crushbone.

You say, 'The king is dead.'

an elven priest says 'Dead you say? My goodness! Did you manage to slay the warlord too? If you provide me with proof of his death, I can enchant the mace the dwarf gave you as payment. But, I will require the proof first!'

Hand an elven priest the Bracers of Battle, dropped by the orc warlord.

an elven priest says 'Erollisi be praised! You slew the orc lord! Well, here is a token of my appreciation! Should you wish to have that mace enchanted, just hand me the mace and my token and I shall uphold my end of the bargain!'

You gain experience!!

You receive a Prayer Cloth of Tunare.

Give the Dwarven Mace and the Prayer Cloth of Tunare to an elven priest.

an elven priest says 'Have you the other item I require?'

an elven priest says 'As promised, here is your mace. Let it not fall into dark hands as its power is hidden until combat when it will reveal its true nature. Fare thee well!'

You gain experience!!

You receive a Screaming Mace.

Screaming Mace - Time after time
# Apr 17 2002 at 9:37 PM Rating: Good
*sigh* I miss the good ole' days. For everyone who thinks this weapon sucks... pre-Kunark this was a 200pp weapon. That's right, 200pp. Clerics in their 20's and 30's used it. Why? Because there wasn't much better. Somewhat like my paladin who now wields Soulfire, which has been jokingly termed Slowfire now. 23/45, forget the extras it adds, this is an OLD weapon. Screaming mace is an OLD weapon, too. This is one of THE best original weapons you can still find in the game. Okay, granted, you don't wield items for nostalgia, but just remember, without weapons like the screaming mace, there wouldn't be the awesome ones there are now.

/agree/agree/agree/agree I can't agree more with you. Just because your warrior isn't dual wielding a Centi LS and Wurmy doesn't mean he sucks. Sometimes it's just fun to watch your character progress and gain items as he levels.
Easy

Everything is easy except the BOBs, the spawn takes forever and the BOBs rarely come.

I cannot believe, well actually I can, that Verant would make such a long spawn for such a junky weapon. The screaming mace is not that good, even for a newbie toon.

You can buy a Screaming Mace for about 50pp.

Why turn in the SBS you ask? In my case I went to CB looking for a Dvinn group, but when I got up to the tower Crush was dead. I nija looted the Tunic, then I KSed the Trainer, and bought a BoB. So I had no faction(indifferent) with the smith & Priest and they would not resond to hail or 'the King is dead'. BUT I took a risk and gave the SBS to the smith and Bam they started the quest and even the elf would respond to me.

you get the dwarven mace from the smith, the prayer cloth from the priest, then when you turn those two rewards in (assuming your an idiot and don't realize that the prayercloth is the best reward) you get the screaming mace.

BoB drop rate
# Dec 02 2001 at 10:28 PM Rating: Decent
The Bracers of Battle are a semi-rare drop off a semi-rare spawn in CB it took me over 15 kills to get the BoB's. and Yes you do have to have an open slot in greneral invintory to get the prayer cloth of tunare.

And personaly if your a Wis based caster the pray cloth is better for you then the mace is, same AC as leather and you get +3wis and it weighs less then leather as well.

LOST the BoB
# Nov 27 2001 at 4:27 PM Rating: Decent
I should've read the warning post before. If you do not have a open slot in you general inventory you WILL NOT GET THE CLOTH. Arrrrrggg. I have petitioned the GM and I hope I get the cloth. I lost the bracer because I picked up a stupid CB belt, which I auto equipped into my open slot not thinking right, and then went and turned in the bracer. Got the trumpets and xp but no cloth. Arrrrggg. Felt like killing the dumb elf.

Well be warned.

I killed the stupid high elf priest, because I was inthere minding my own business whaling away on a nasty orc...slaver I think, and all of a sudden I see...high elf priest begins to cast a spell...orc slaver feels better, so he wanted to heal my orc I was using for sword practice huh? Well I let him have it for that, you lose a little faction but ehhhh who cares, revenge is sweet. =)
Easy 75pp
# Nov 25 2001 at 2:17 PM Rating: Default
This quest is an easy 75pp for anyone over 18, especially if you do it with a partner. I couldn't get the Dwarven smith to talk to me either, even when I said "The king is dead" but when I asked "What about ringmail" he answered. The priest talks when you say The King is dead and wants the BoB. I am tempted to go back and just get the BoB again to get the Prayer Cloth of Tunare -- it is +3 Wis! Good for druids like me.
Talking Dwarfs
# Nov 18 2001 at 2:51 AM Rating: Default
I did this quest on hide/sneak (Dvinn was out and rampaging around citadel) at lvl 12 or so since I had collected all the items lvling in CB. Neither dwarf talked to me, only the elven priest. Give the ringmail to the smith NEXT to the priest. Yes, make sure you have 2 inventory slots (non-bag) open. Didn't have to give up the SBS at all, not even asked. Not too hard to get the items needed if camping throne room for xp, plenty dropped and is lore anyways. Hardest to get is BoB, and Warlord likes to jump you outside citadel.
PS-unless faction good in Felwaithe or mage just destroy Illegible scrolls to clear corpses, less lag.

I just go this weapon today and overall my 1 handed blunt sucks (i think its 5)and ive been taking non stop dmg like 17,16,15 etc and when it procs its even better i take like 18 dmg so sure its an easy quest but that doesnt mean the weapon isnt good .

It's slow, and not worth the money, or time. At the time you wrote your post, Wraith Bone hammers were already down to just over 100pp in price. The also have 8 damage, but the delay is 26 and it adds 5 strength, all the time, not just when it procs.

Now, since Luclin came out, I expect to see Wraith bone hammers for less than 75pp. The centi warhammer is very nice, and selling for 400ish.

The sceaming mace is an anchor (weighs too much), doesn't proc that often, and is not worth your time. Just collect and sell the cb belts and pads, and you'll have enough for a Wraith bone hammer in a day.

BTW, I know this was a very fine weapon when EQ first came out, but it is obsolete, just like the shiny brass halberd. The prayer cloth, on the other hand, is still a nice newby druid item. If you happen to get the quest items, keep the dwarven mace, and the prayer shawl. The dwarven mace has the same ratio, and weighs less. The proc is basically worthless.

One thing the Screaming Mace has over the Dwarven Mace is the fact that it is MAGIC.

One should also remember, the name of the game is EverQUEST, not EverLOOT or EverTWINK. Questing is one of the things that makes the game fun. For some of us, that's how we get our gear. When you complete quests for your gear, you tend to appreciate it more because of the hard work and time you've put into obtaining it.
which smith
# Sep 11 2001 at 7:15 AM Rating: Default
the dwarven smiths won't talk to, even though i con amiable to them, i was just wondering which smith i give the drt to? is it the one by the anvil or the one by the lava pit thing?? spent ages trying to get the drt so i don't want to lose it.

This is quite an easy quest! In 1 hour 2 people in my group had tunics, then i went into Kelethin and auctioned for a BoB, it took me about 10 minutes!! the BoB only costs about 30pp so you are still makin some profit, not to mention saving time!

In the quest for the mace it is possible to loose the Bracer of Battle (the hardest item to get). If you do not have an open main slot the Elven priest will not give you the Prayer cloth when you give him the BOB (This must be an open main slot NOT an open container slot). The Priest will still say he is giving you the prayer cloth but you just don't get it.
