Captain Hazran (Warrior Guildmaster) is found inside the Militia House in East Freeport. He is on Find (Ctrl+F).
Captain Hazran says 'Hail, citizen! Welcome to the Freeport Militia House. It is time for you to serve the state. You will assist us in our war with [Clan Deathfist] before you are truly accepted into our city. We urge you to be all we command you to be.' You say "Who is Clan Deathfist?" Captain Hazran says 'Clan Deathfist are the orcs of the Commonlands. They are a nuisance and Sir Lucan has ordered their extermination. You will go forth into the Commonlands and kill these orcs. Clan Deathfis'st members are known to wear a clan belt. Bring a belt to me as proof of each death and you shall receive your wages and prove your allegiance to Freeport and all that is good.' Head to Commonlands and kill orcs to loot a Deathfist Slashed Belt; Go back to Captain Hazran and give him the belt for some experience and the following faction adjustments: Captain Hazran says 'Good work, warrior. You are good militia material. Beware though, there are some who dare to call us foe. You have performed so well!' Your faction standing with The Freeport Militia has been adjusted by 5. i am 13 lvl iskar monk and i trained in the freeport guild today and used the merchants, Woot Woot I also lvled at the orcs from 9 till present, gives good faction with north, so banking should be easy now

i have an iksar monk and i got to dubious today in east and west by doing this quest, it took me about 30 to get to dubious from threatening, be careful though, just cause the guards wont kill you dont mean walking to close to monk guild or acadamy wont get you a 300hp dd spell cast on ya

k friend i did this quest and it took me a between 80-100 belts to become dubious to the guards, this quest should be done before you raise factio with north freeport

OK all these are great, but to do these quests you have to have the faction to go into the zones. I am an iksar i cannot get to the guard to give the the items, and even when i do he wont take them from me.

As of today (1/7/2001) I am very sure that I recieved experience for each and every belt (NOT PAIR of belts) that I handed in, out of half a dozen.

While getting faction for my lev 24 Iksar Monk by killing orcs in EC, looting the belts, and giving them to my baby chars to turn in, the DE Wiz went from lev 4 to lev 9, the Human Monk went from lev 5 to lev 8, and the WE Druid went from lev 3 to lev 8...all by turning in 1 belt at a time....next I will level the Ogre Shaman from lev 5 to whatever lev that the returns start diminishing.

to get the same faction as handing in 6 of these, simply kill the paladin spy in the militia building (lvl 9 or 10)and loot his tunic. then turn it in to sir luncan for a HUGE faction hit.

I have killed Guard Alayle 4 or so times; he is a 3 or 3.5 hour spawn. He has only dropped the Tunic once. I hear that you turn the tunic into Lucan for good Freeport Militia Faction.

Deathfist belts are the quick and easy way to get the xp and faction. Killing Guard Alayle is also great for the faction and xp but the problem with him is more than just the spawn rate. I have gone days (checking frequently for him) without seeing him. The reason is that he is heavily sought by all sorts of good and evil characters because he is involved in multiple quests. Paladins and other goodies will bring him a note to warn him that the militia is on to him. When he gets the note, he is promptly dispatched by the other militia guards which give faction with the hall of truth and temple of marr. Of course everyone else wants to kill him for the tunic to give sir luken for faction increase with the militia (There are actually two different ways to initiate the quest to get faction with the militia, which coupled with the Paladin quest, makes this guard very popular). By the way I have killed guard Alayle many, many times and have always gotten him to drop the tunic. Maybe I am just lucky because I have heard that he does not drop it everytime.

I have a dark elf necro that was half a bub into level 4 and last night he bought some belts and 4 belts got him to level 5. 6 more belts got him to level 6. I have had other characters turn in belts up to level 10 or l1 and still get some reasonable XP.

The guards in North Freeport are the Knights of Truth. Being a Dark Elf, I've heard that they will kill me on sight, so I haven't ventured up there yet.
I'd like to raise faction with both, so I can travel throughout Freeport. One way to do that appears to be this Deathfist Belt quest, as long as you kill the orcs yourself. Killing each orc increases your faction with the Knights of Truth (hopefully more than it decreases when you turn in the belts).

Sibling of Darkness, may Innoruuk bless you for your bravery to venture to the land of the [censored by Swear Filter]. But only if you be turly devoted to Innoruuk as a priest, knight, or necromancer, and maybe the sneaky theives of the Ebon Mask will the be[censoered by Swear Filter]ed paladins of Marr kill you, should you be one of the other casters, you needn't worry. Also, this quest Lowers your faction with the Kinghts of Truth, therefore it does not achive half of your purpose.

if you want good faction, kill the orcs and buy belts if you wish, and turn them into Cain Darkmoore in the warrior guild near the arena. you will take a VERY small faction hit with the local militia, but it wont matter much unless you turn in boatloads of these. i've given him hundreds of belts with a different char that wasnt from freeport and i was fine. good luck, and have fun!

I am a DE necro of the tenth season, and since I was level 5 I have been trying to hand in DF belts. The Captain doesn't give me experience for the belt..and I have tried numerous combinations, 1 belt 2 belts..etc. How can I raise my faction high enough to get exp from the belts? I'm hunting alot of orcs..from 8-10..and I'm afraid I won't get any experience from the belts by the time my faction is good enough. Any advice is much appreciated.

Your faction needs to be at least higher then dubious to the Militia. As you are dubious (I guess) the Captain will happily accept your belts, but you won't get a reward.
You can do several things to enhance your faction:
- Do the Rebby and Janam note quest (starts in East Freeport in the Tunnels) untill you are indifferently to the militia.
- Get yourself a wolfform (You'll need a lvl 39+ druid to cast it on you). That'll take your faction (while in wolfform) to the militia to Indifferently, and then hand in the belts.

Sorry, but I will have to disagree with this last comment. My level 4 DE necro is dubvious to all the guards in west free port and I am getting great XP turning in the belts to the captain. The only thing that Dubvious gets in the way of is that you can't buy or sell anything. Note: This is as of last night anyway (March 16, 2001).
The other thing is that from what I have heard many times, wolfform will not help you because you will actually become KOS to the guards instead of dubvious. Their job is to keep the monsters and animals out of freeport and in wolf form, you will be promptly dispatched with a smile.

Thats only the guards in Kunark actually.. my druid is still not kos anywhere cause of wolfform...

If ye are a DE cleric, turn in Master Whoople's head to the guy ( I think his name is Drizzet) on 2nd floor of the Wizard's guild near the bank. Use the halfling skin mask to turn ye into a halfling when ye go into E. freeport. As a halfling ye are able to turn in as many masks as ye can carry, {careful, the halfling illusion disappears when ye zone and is only 1 charge}. Oh, this works for Troll and Ogre shammies too.

Turn in orc scalp to the captain in Highpass hold to raise militia faction from kos to dubious...you may be able to get the same faction hanfing in the gnolls scalps on the other side of HH, but not sure of that one.
Yep, turns out that gnoll scalps do that, too. Great if you've finished the Testimony of Truth quest, and you don't feel like turning in Deathfist belts (thereby hosing your Priests of Marr and Knights of Truth faction)

Don't think you'll be able to do this quest until you are non-KOS, as you have to go through the militia building to get to Captain Hazran. Instead try doing the note for Rebby, Jarnam, and Ping Fuzzlecutter quests.

I just became KOS by the Freeport militia last night. 1 Kill into it. I will post a follow up with how many belts I need to turn in to become Un-KOS (if that can happen with this quest) Not sure but I think that is the faction I need to raise. Well we will find out.

You can turn them in two at a time, and you will get separate gold/faction/exp for each. What I cannot figure out, though, is how many you need to give in order to raise the faction enough to complete the Militia Tunic quest.

You can turn in multiple belts at once-and get the faction,xp,and gold for each one-but you can also do it one at a time.
