You can kill goos repeatedly at the zone in, and even pull the lahar and swarm, but if you move from stage to stage you will get enough goos to kill, and a swarm and lahar.
We did this for 3 players, with 3 already having it. No relics dropped. I asked the 3 who completed it (of which I was one) to get the task again, even though they didn't need it, and once we all had the task relics would drop. Ended up being free xp for us, getting to do it a second time.
Do not have anyone with pre-looted relics as you go, if anyone needs relics. Easier to get the task anew, delete your relics looted, and do it together. If no one has relics, they will drop, and probably 4, 5, or 6 per kill. If you have someone with a relic, you may see 1. Just delete them to avoid the hassle. No relics on you if helping out, just get the task anew and do it together.

You say, 'Tell me about the melted sword hilt.' Istoph Banock says, 'This melted sword hilt is odd. The blade is missing, but the handle still exists. Perhaps the blade was in the molten ground. The pommel resembles a wolfs head.' You say, 'Tell me about the brittle half shield.' Istoph Banock says, 'This piece, this brittle half shield, was once much larger. Look at how it flakes to the touch. It's as if it has seen too many seasons. The wood and metal design remind me of those used by [Wolves of the North].' Step 3 asks you to explore the scar north east. The waypoint listed here is correct, but it is in the west and not in the east.
