The Captain of the Guard is not a mob for the Sleeper's Tomb hunter quest. It is just a trigger.

When the expansion was released, The Overseer Reborn\Master of the Guard\Captain of the Guard spawn was bugged. A patch was released on January 20th, 2021, which corrected the problem. To get The Overseer Reborn hunter's kill credit, you need to kill the Captain of the Guard until you get the Master of the Guard. Killing the Master of the Guard will auto-trigger The Overseer Reborn to spawn in his room marked.
