Master Kyvix may be found at 291, 782, 19.

    You say, 'Hail, Master Kyvix'

Master Kyvix says 'Quite busy!! Quite busy!! Things must be done. [New components] to be collected!!'

    You say, 'What new components?'

Master Kyvix says 'Yes, yes!! I will need components from beyond the gates. I must find an [apprentice of the third rank].'

You say, 'I am an apprentice of the third rank.'

Master Kyvix says 'If you truly be an apprentice of the third circle, then there is a Dark Binder skullcap to be earned. Take this sack and fill it with a creeper cabbage, a heartsting telson with venom, brutling choppers and a scalebone femur. When they are combined within the sack, you may return it to me with your third rank skullcap and and we shall bid farewell to the title, 'apprentice.''

Receive a Brood Sack in which you combine the above items. This produces a Full Component Sack.

Hand in the combined result with your Apprentice Skullcap - 3rd Rank.

Master Kyvix says 'I demand a full fish sack and your third circle apprentice skullcap.'
Master Kyvix says 'you have taken far too long!! Already another apprentice has performed this task. You will still be rewarded with the Dark Binder skullcap, but now you must aid in a [true mission].'

Your faction standing with Brood of Kotiz has been adjusted by 10.
Your faction standing with Legion of Cabilis has been adjusted by 2.
    You gain experience!!

You receive your Dark Binder Skullcap and 15 gold.

Oops! I finally was able to beat the man eating creeper to get the creeper cabbage. I already had the rest of the components and hit the combine button. Didn't work:( The only questionable item is the cracked femur. Does anyone know if that could be the problem?
    RE: Quest failed
    # Dec 03 2000 at 2:50 AM Rating: Decent
As i am aware the only thing that drops the cracked femur are Greater Scalebones, any one will do, but I got mine from inside Kurns. If anything else drops a cracked femur that may cause a problem. Also, I cannot confirm this, but everyone tells me that the "Heartsting Telson" MUST have a poison charge in it, as some drop without charges. Could this be the problem?

The Heartsting Telson I had did have the charge. I had the intact choppers, the creeper cabbage, and the cracked femur from a greater scalebone. I hit combine and it didnt work. I'll just try again.

I had the same problem but the intact choppers I used were from a Pygmy Brutling and not from the Skulking Brutling. So I think that was my mistake

Do you need to have the third skullcap to finish this quest? I was curious if anyone's tried to do it only with the 2nd cap. Yeah, yeah, I know, necro of the third circle and all that, but has anyone tried?

Yes, you do need the 3rd rank skullcap.

just to the left of Cabilis is a great bone collecting spot, there were probably a dozen decaying skeles there when i just ran into it, anyway about 45 min and almost 60 bones later i spotted a brutling come over the hill from the pond behind the giant fort, killed him got the intact, and was done.... now for the damn creeper cabbage, dont have a loc, but i could see Cabilis from the spot i was at, just to left of edge of Cabilis, cant miss it

okay lets just say this quests suck and leave it at that..skrew loc for creepers here where they are found..go straight from cabalis on trail.it leads to an island..this is where escaped frogs spawn..just kill everything..the creepers found same way but keep going further down..past second island..to the third land mass..its more of a peninsula.full of nibblers leaches and bloodveins..do as with frogluks kill everything..eventualy a creeper will spawn..i found brute at exactlt neg 2000 4000 it was on a grey slope near bandit pond at edgde of zone..it was stuck next to sap and gobos..lucky for me it was spawned and had the intact choppers..if not i guess you kill everything in the area..and reading all the info on the other sites if you see runtlings then brutlings will spawn in that area..its left from the giant bridge past the goblin pond fyi..if you cannot find the femure and telson..then forget this quest..good luck.
    bruteling sucks!

I tried neg1750,2156 and neg1950,2600 but nothing. I stayed there for a few hours. I decided to run around invis and I finally spotted one at 2400, n1100. I spotted it close to the water. Good luck hunting that *******!

Best bet is to kill the goblin bonecasters as they are place holders for the brute.

I killed one bonecaster and in 30 secs a brute spawned.
Bonecasters to the east of the road from FOB to Weat Cabilis near FOB zone is where i got mine

Found a creeper at 2000, 135, he was just sitting there for quite a while I summoned a pet and med back to full. I was not going to take a chance even though he was blue. I looked for a creeper for a couple of hours before I spotted him. Got a cabbage. Good luck.
    warning! creeper may be eaten
    # Sep 17 2000 at 9:30 PM Rating: Default

plz don't ***** up like I screwed up. I hunted for the creeper for couple hours in the swamp. I finally found one roaming at loc 2121 neg 988...

I looted the cabbage off his corpse, then gated to kurns to get the everpresent femer, (by far the easiest to find), got the femer... but when I went to get the cabbage it was gone. It's no drop lore item so I didn't drop it.

After I petitioned the gm said that it may be eaten. I had plenty of food but he said it was in a "slot before the other food". I really don't buy this I think it was a bug, but watch out you don't eat this item that takes some time to find.

...btw Sathiss is right on, except that I could not get the creeper to pop where he said it would be located, there was a skele that never re-popped even in the day, after killing everything that spawned there many times I started wandering around, and found another (that didn't drop the cabbage) at 1913 610.

many of the mobs near these areas are tougher than the 12th lvl the creeper is supposed to be.

the gm told me I'm SOL, but its crazy that my character would eat a lore item that took me hours to find (

I have all of the ingredients for this quest. but I didn't bother with the previous quest because I couldn't find the granite pebbles? Do I need the previous helm to get this Dark Binder Skullcap?

This quest was made for levels 13-20. Well, let me tell you, Verant screwed it up. I wandered around Swamp of No Hope for 30 minutes before i found it. 2 Greater skeles were camping next to it. i cast my pet spell and kept my eye on it for when the skeles would leave. Well, guess what came gunnign for me immediatly from 100 yards away? A Froglok Knight that was double hitting for 40 damage and kicking for 10. I ran out, attempted to gate, and got attacked by 4 more. I got slaughtered cause they threw the creeper in a very nasty area. Not only that, but there is also a NPC Iksar wandering out there, waiting to slaughter you. He's named and conned red to me at 13. Well, i'm just gonna have my friend get me the cabbage since he's level 44. Needless to say, it was VERY worrying trying to get my corpse from that area. Not only that, but i lost 1/3 bubble exp.

ummm, I had one at level 12 but I didn't realize I was going to need it so I got rid of it. One of the man eating plants dropped it when I killed him.

Ok i must be doing somthing wrong i've been to neg 1750 pos 2156, killed all mobs, and even killed lots of skulking runtling but i have yet to see a Skulking Brutling. I have noticed that the runtlings spawn when i kill a goblin bonecaster. Is it that i have no luck or what?
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 14 2001 at 1:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Can we please have some info here, i have double checked, triple checked and checked again, i am at the right location given for these bad monkies, and i have spent like over 45 HOURS RT and nothing but runtlings, im lvl 24, my pet is killing anything and everything that moves in that area AND NO STUPID MONKEY, and and all help would be greatly appreciated, since im about to go insane from this quest, its the lamest, crappiest most ****** up, kill yourself and go to hell lameass quest, all because i cant get the stupid brutling to spawn

    # Aug 16 2000 at 5:09 PM Rating: Decent
Sathiss you rule! You hit the location of the Brutling on the money. After I read your post last night, I between the area of neg 1750, pos 2156 and neg 1950, pos 2600 and found 3 Brutlings in 15 minutes. This is after wasting time at Bandit Lake and that area for Days. Thanks You Sathiss for an accurate location of a spawn :)
#Anonymous, Posted: Sep 26 2000 at 5:45 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I must have the worst freakin luck then, cause i've been switching off every 2 hours between waiting there, and TRYING to find the freakin cabage crap, i'm gonna just take a break from it all for a while, and work on my levels, i've been workin on this dang one for 4 days now, with NO luck on the cabage or brutlings...

First of all, to Sathiss: THANK YOU VERY MUCH! :) I spent 10 hours near the zone to Overthere, based on what Nanto said, and never saw one. I came back here, read your post, and got my Intact Brutling Choppers in about an hour :) Got them on the second one, the first had Shattered ones. Killed runtlings, gobbies, and Iksar in the area you mentioned until the Brutlings spawned and came walking by :)

Nanto, THANK YOU VERY MUCH also :) Your post helped me get the Creeper Cabbage, they spawned right in the area you posted :) Like the Brutlings, I got the cabbage on the second one I killed.

BTW, the area around -1000, 4000 is where the mobs get stuck in Warslik's Woods. So it might be possible to find a Brutling there, but all I ever found there were stuck gobbies and one Forest Giant Sapling. Anyway, this is an area to check, but they won't be spawning there.

I did this quest at level 45, so didn't have to worry about anything that could kill me, hehe.

    # Aug 15 2000 at 6:11 PM Rating: Excellent
ok I have finialy completed this quest and can help a bit with where the spawns are and what they are. BTW- you do not have to use identifiy on any of these

1.Femur, EVERY Greater scalebone will drop these, they are very easy to find right outside kurns tower.

2.Telsons, heartstings scrops, just kill them till you get one with a posion charge.

3.Creeper Cabage, there is a static spawn of a creeper in the swamp it's loc is 650,neg2850. Make sure you go there durring the day time , at night it turns into skells that you will have to wait to de-pop (i.e. don't kill the skels). It will stand right next to a frog next to the water. This is just downstream from the cave to the teeth.

4.Brutlings, dropped by "a skulking brutling" between the area of neg1750,2156 and neg1950,2600 in warsliks , kill everything that moves around that area. After I found mine my roomate hunted that area for about 30 minutes and 2 poped. They do spawn in pairs it seems one having shattered and one having intact.

This had to be the most agravating quest for me ever(the brutlings), I hunted the bandit lake for days never saw one, same with the area near the zone to overthere. After I finaly found the area that they spawn in they where not hard to get to pop.
Creeper Cabbage near impossible to get

    # Aug 13 2000 at 1:56 AM Rating: Decent
Greetingss. Today I had the fortunate luck of finding three skulking brutlings, but all three had the shatterd choppers (Hysssss). There were several skulking runts around. I cleared those out, but for hours after, there only seemed to iksar footpads, and various goblins around. I gave up. The brutlings I found were mobile all along the southern end of the zone. They seem to wander the SW quadrant of the zone. I did not look north of the stream or bandit lake (the big brutes and pygmies where there when I took a peek). It is my last component needed for the cap.
    that Darn Skulking Brutling
    # Aug 08 2000 at 6:50 PM Rating: Decent
I have the worse luck finding the Sulking Brutling, well kinda. When I first made a trip to Warslikewood to the "Bandit Lake" who did I see, well yes it was a Sulking Brutling. I killed him right away and much to my demise, he dropped nothing but a few gold pieces. Well now I was determined to find him spawn again. Hours later...nothing but Sulking Brutes, Sulking Pygmy Brutlings (which can trick a person into believing they found Brutling Choppers, these are Intact Pygmy Britling Choppers -WRONG ONE) and Sulking Runtlings. The Sulking Brutling has not shown himself even after running around slaying all the other. What I want to know is Why is this creature such a rare and hard to find spawn and part of a necro quest? He should be part of a Ranger or Druid quest. We can't track these Sulking Brutling. And when we do find one it drops Nothing. Errrrr!
    Sasarak:choppers
    # Aug 03 2000 at 2:04 AM Rating: Decent
The intact pygmy choppers that are lore and no drop are NOT the choppers you need. You need to kill skulking brutlings (rare spawn), NOT pygmy brutlings (common spawn). Sasarak, the cracked femur is right, its your choppers that are the wrong one. If they have the word pygmy in them, they are off the wrong mob.
    femur
    # Jul 25 2000 at 6:09 PM Rating: Decent
ACK sasarak that is terrible =(

I know the item is on a greater scalebone, I forget if I got mine from kurns or the FoB. I sure hope the items aren't diffrent in the two zones =/

The greater scalebones in the FoB are in the pits, down in the mid/high teens area (all the way to the left as you come out of cab). In kurns they can be found hanging around the top level. Problem is I always kill them to get bone chips so I have no idea where I got the femur from ...

    cracked femur
    # Jul 25 2000 at 11:49 AM Rating: Decent
I can attest that the cracked femur does NOT work. The correct one should be a Scalebone Femur, and rumor has it that Greater Scalebones in Kurns will drop these. I have already lost one set of components, and before I try to combine again, I want to be told by multiple people that I am wrong.

Also, the Intact Brutling Choppers come off of the Pygmie Brutlings, just hang out near the end of the trail close the the zone into the OverThere.

I just finished this quest. First of all to answer my own question it uses the standard expendable telsons that the heartstingers have.

The brutling spawn is kind of curious, I found a flat area near the iksar bandit pond. I didn't write down the loc but going from the map at EQatlas the loc would be roughly, -2000, 4000 ... that's an estimate. The area is flat and nestled between some very high ridges, no trees are on the small flat part. A skulking runtling spawns in this area, I killed him twice then low and behold a skulking brutling pops. I didn't actually see the spawn I was harassing the bandit at the lake but he was right in the area the runtlings where. I bet the runtlings are place holders for the brutling ... anyway just a thought.

    Chukle

Oh and you don't have to identify the cracked femur, just make sure you got it off a greater scalebone ...
    Cracked femur
    # Jul 20 2000 at 10:36 PM Rating: Decent
First of all, how do you identify the cracked femur if we don't get the spell til level 20? Just curious if it needs to be identified in order for the combine to work? If so, then why does the quest table say minimum level is 13?

I'd appreciate any input on this...thanks

    Brutling Choppers
    # Jul 18 2000 at 2:13 PM Rating: Decent
I have been camping these with a high level druid (my level 51). So far I have seen one brutling who was stuck underground and had to be killed by a guide. Apart from that, in three days I have not seen one... Plenty of pygmies, and normal brutes, but no brutling. I have been to both the lake with the manslayers and bandits near the overthere zone and the lake with the low level gobs. Anyone got any ideas on how you make this rare spawn.. Seems a crazily tough spawn for a low level item.
    heartstinger telson
    # Jul 18 2000 at 12:46 PM Rating: Decent
I used to hunt in the field of bones (didn't we all) and my favorite pray was the heartstingers. I noticed they drop two kinds of telsons with venom, one with a proc when you hit and one that you can right click on to activate the poison.

so which one does this quest require? I'd hate to destroy the cabbage and my yet to be found brutling choppers.

    Thanks, Chukle

I have a cracked femur, a telson with venom, an intact chopper and creeper crabbage. But combine dosnt work. What is wrong? If u know the answer, plz tell me in the game.

    # Jul 13 2000 at 11:29 PM Rating: Decent
The cracked femur and scorp telson are relatively easy, just head to Pit in Field of bones, took me about 5 minutes to aquire both 8)

The Creeper Cabbage, now that was fun 8) Head to Swamp of no hope and camp at about loc -2000, 2500 (near path by zone to Firiona Vie) took me almost two hours and one death to get the cabbage. I recommend killing everything in the area, (I was level 18 and most things conned blue, except for the Froglok Beserker which caused the one death hehe) Make sure you have a magic weopon if taking on Isatiable Nibblers. Anyway, back on track here. I had to kill 2 Man Eating Creepers to get one cabbage, so we know that it isn't always dropped, I hope you are have better luck and get it on the first one. Also make sure you have food in an upper slot, else you hungry iksar may eat the hard earned cabbage (now wouldn't that be maddenning)

Lastly, the INTACT Brutling chompers. The Skulking Brutling can be found near entrance to The Overthere zone. (I found one at about loc -1000, 4000) The first one I killed had the chompers so I was lucky, I have heard that sometimes they drop broken chompers and they don't work.

All of the creatures you kill for the quest were pretty easy for me at level 18, and I am guessing they are about level 15 themselves.

That is the best I can do for you all, I hope this helps. Now I am planning on leaving the 5th hat till i hit about level 20, but when I do it, I will post more
