Master Kyvix may be found at 291, 782, 19.

    You say, 'Hail, Master Kyvix'

Master Kyvix says 'Quite busy!! Quite busy!! Things must be done. [New components] to be collected!!'

    You say, 'What new components?'

Master Kyvix says 'Yes, yes!! I will need components from beyond the gates. I must find an [apprentice of the third rank].'

You say, 'I am an apprentice of the third rank.'

Master Kyvix says 'If you truly be an apprentice of the third circle, then there is a Dark Binder skullcap to be earned. Take this sack and fill it with a creeper cabbage, a heartsting telson with venom, brutling choppers and a scalebone femur. When they are combined within the sack, you may return it to me with your third rank skullcap and and we shall bid farewell to the title, 'apprentice.''

Receive a Brood Sack in which you combine the above items. This produces a Full Component Sack.

Hand in the combined result with your Apprentice Skullcap - 3rd Rank.

Master Kyvix says 'I demand a full fish sack and your third circle apprentice skullcap.'
Master Kyvix says 'you have taken far too long!! Already another apprentice has performed this task. You will still be rewarded with the Dark Binder skullcap, but now you must aid in a [true mission].'

Your faction standing with Brood of Kotiz has been adjusted by 10.
Your faction standing with Legion of Cabilis has been adjusted by 2.
    You gain experience!!

You receive your Dark Binder Skullcap and 15 gold.

Master Kyvix is front and centre in the Necro building in West Cabilis (I realize they were all moved at some point or the maps are really messed up that most of us have).

    Location is 293, 782, 17.75
    maybe spawn point
    # Nov 17 2006 at 2:02 PM Rating: Decent
Believe I find a spawn point at n2050 p3200 for brutlings in WW. Just killed a runtling by this spot and then I hear that heavy bvreathing. I turn and a skulking brutling is 5 feet away and headed directly away from me. Killed him, got choppers. Cant see how he would have been able to get near me without me hearing sooner if he didnt just spawn.

A couple of pieces of information I noted in doing this quest - while the skulking brutlings do in fact wander to the east of the bandits, they seem to spawn to the SW of that location - I had 3 on screen at one time once I had a tracker to help me figure out this correction - also, I noticed what appears to be a static spawn of 3 brutlings in the cave that leads to the crypt of dalnir in the upper left corner of the zone - too late for this to help me, but maybe this will help some of you (going to do the combine for the 7th skullcap now!)

Got the Intact choppers on my first kill. Since I don't see exact info posted here I will post my info. Goto -1130, 4100 and there is a spot many mobs path to and just get stuck. It's far up the wall so don't think you're going the wrong way. I suppose just killing mobs that wander into that path trap or just around will do but then again I was lucky so I can't give very good mob clearing info. Good luck...

Can anyone tell me if the 4th necro cap quest is broken? Me and my friends and guildies have been watching the swamp for weeks, and not one of us has yet to see any sign of a man-eating creeper whatsoever!!! Is anyone else out there having the same problem? (hm.. I see no one has posted on this since December 2002....???)

Outside the entrance to Trakanon, there is a spot where Froglok Outlanders spawn. Creepers also spawn here, but sometimes you must "protect" them as the Froglok will try to kill them
    Found the brutling
    # Dec 02 2002 at 12:24 AM Rating: Decent
I found some down the path to the right from Cab. But I think they were on the trees or underground because I couldn't see them at all. Finally, I found one by the giant fort and the intact dropped in the first kill. I hope this is the correct item for the quest. I can't find any creeper at all in SONH.

Don't tal k to me about brutling choppers
    # Nov 08 2002 at 5:19 PM Rating: Good
The scalebone femur ("Cracked Femur") is easy - you should be spending lots of time in Kurn's Tower anyhow.

The telson is also easy - heartsting scorpions abound in the north side of the pit and around the base of Kurn's Tower. If you're unable to combine the items, it's probably because you don't have a telson with poison - that's what happened to me.

The creeper cabbage dropped from every man eating creeper I've killed. I had good luck finding them between the spire (next to the Iksar outcast camp) and the water next to it in the NW corner of SONH. Just follow the path to the left/north as you come out of Cabilis. Be sure you don't accidentally eat the cabbage. (I did.)

As for the *&^!& brutling choppers...I killed nine of them before I got one that was intact. I camped the valley to the east of the Iksar outcast camp - it's mentioned in the other posts - several times. (Gathering shadows helps a lot - otherwise you'll have to fight goblins every two minutes, whether you want to or not.) If you're there at sundown, one and sometimes two skulking brutlings spawn relatively quickly. I never saw one in this valley during the day, though. I finally got my intact choppers when I was standing near the wall of the giant fort in the middle of the day, looking for giant saplings to wallop. A skulking brutling jumped me, much to my pleasure - broken choppers - grrr - but ANOTHER one attacked me as I was meditating after the fight. That one finally coughed up the intact choppers. I was along the west wall of the fort, just south of where it meets the stream at it northwest corner (approx. loc: -700, +1600 - right against the wall, not down the steep slope to the west). Maybe their pathing takes them NE along the S side of the stream running from the camping valley toward the fort???

Brutlings and Creepers and Telsons, Oh, My!
    # Jul 06 2002 at 11:37 AM Rating: Good
Allright, here's the skinny from my trip through this quest.

    1) The femur. Got mine in Kurn's Tower, from a corpse that someone else had attacked and slain. Piece of cake. In and out. You could use Invis to Undead to make the time you spend there even safer. Since the femur is NODROP, most people will probably be happy to let you loot it if you ask politely. The greater scalebones that carry these were yellow to a 13 necro.

    2) The telson. Got this in Field of Bone, in the Pit. There are many heartstings. Kill one. They were yellow to a 13 necro (some were blue/black). Make sure to get one with venom! There are two types - one has venom and the other doesn't.

    3) The Brutling Choppers. I found a brutling just north/west of Bandit Lake in WW. Approximate location was -1080, +3810. Conned yellow to a 13 necro.

    4) Creeper. Found the Man Eating Creeper using Gather Shadows. Cast a pet, Heat Blood, send pet, tank creeper. Was a close fight, since I had little mana left after the pet and heat blood. Won anyway. Conned yellow to a 13 necro. (See a pattern here yet?) Approximate location was +500 +1000. You may have to look aroud a bit.

    Dangers to be wary of:

    1) Near where I found the brutling, there's a pathing error. I found no fewer than 8 goblins (several of which were dark bliue!) trapped by it. I agroed one, and got the rest. Needless to say I had to resume my hunt after a CR. They're near the zone edge, on the west side of the lake.

    2) Near where I found the creeper there are many insatiable nibblers (yellow). I also found a Froglok Berserker (red). These could ruin your search quickly. Keep an eye out for them.

Good luck to all my fellow Iksar necromancers! On to the next cap quest!

    Skulking Brutlings
    # Jul 02 2002 at 2:06 PM Rating: Default
After looking around for a few days I ran into many different kinds of brutes and had almost gone with the people who said the skulking brutlings had been renamed. I finally found one on the plain at the base of the final water fall below the bandit lake at neg 1274 pos 2991.

Guess you have to be lucky to find one. I had spent hours at all the /loc mentioned in other posts and never saw one before yesterday.

    Good luck and good hunting.

A lot of this info has been posted, but I want to confirm a few things that I found.

The telson and femur....very easy. I think those have been covered pretty extensively by the other posts. Those are the easy ones to get. Let me skip to the Man Eating Creeper and Skulking Brutling.

Neither was that bad, once I found out where they really liked to hang out. From my experience, the very bottom post by Seronami was the best post, when it came to the Skuling Brutling. That valley in the southern part of the zone around
-2240, +2730 was pretty good. I wandered about the rest of WW quite a while and never saw any. I went back and forth from the Cabilis gate to the Bandit lake about 3 times, when I finally spotted a Skulking Brutling, very close to the location I gave just now. Conned dark blue to me. I killed it, dropped a shattered chopper. Bah, took me 40 minutes to see one, so I hated not getting an easy one. But I hung around the area, killed some wandering goblins...a few were dark blue, a few light blue and some greenies to my 13th level Iksar necro. Anyways, sure enough, I got a second chance. This time, I got the drop. Woo hoo! By the way, this Skulking Brutling conned blak to me. So the level on Ilia's Bestiary of 12-13 seemed right on to me. Probably took me an hour or so total in WW.

Last thing for me was Swamp of No Hope to find the Man Eating Creeper. This really wasn't too bad for me. I found a part of an island that was a good place, around loc +1000, +1500, right next to the Iksar head laying on the ground next to a pillar base. In this area, various Swamp mobs came through. Most of them conned from dark blue to yellow to my 13th level Iksar. I hung out there, killed a few things, and after a while, a Man Eating Creeper came through. This particular one conned yellow to me, but it had no tricks up its sleeves and died fairly easily. I probably spent 20 minutes in the Swamp. Altogether, the quest took me 2 hours. I would estimate that if you concentrated on it, it's possible to finish the quest in an hour. And this can definitely be done at level 13. And I'm very untwinked by the way. Hope this helps.
    Yeah...

You're looking for the intact choppers from a skulking brutling. There are also intact brutling choppers from a >pygmy< skulking brutling, which are for one of the iksar monk shackle quest, so make sure to broadcast the /location of the intact choppers from a pygmy, you'll make a munkies' day! There are choppers from the skulking runtlings, as well, so make sure you're hunting the correct mob.

The first time I saw the brutling, I attacked with spells and my pet, got broken choppers. Second time I saw him, I dismissed my pet, and just DOTed him and Siphoned Life until he was dead. Then he dropped the intact choppers.

As for his pathing, twice I noticed his path took him from the south portion of the valley with all the rocks in it, to the western edge of the giant fort. After running into the edge for about 30 seconds, he despawned and seemed to pop right back on the south side of the valley and ran the same path again.
    Brutling Choppers
    # Mar 27 2002 at 2:07 PM Rating: Default
Well fello bone crunchers, a little post to help my necro friends, choppers were tough to get but finally, success. (I had to find them twice so I had some experience). K, go the the bandit lake (-1300 +4000), careful there are two lakes. I followed the stream from the lake downstream to the first waterfall. Camped at the top of the waterfall looking down and to the east. A brutling comes right up the waterfall heading for the lake. Got him here twice so its good! I had rangers and druids tracking a few times, its a long camp (covered south west corner for six days until I finally just camped this spot. Hope this helps, on the the next quest! (Started this at level 17 and ended at level 16..dangerous neck of the woods all!)
    Creeper
    # Feb 17 2002 at 9:18 PM Rating: Decent
I think the creeper is a triggered spawn ... go to the island mentioned in other posts with the runins on it and try to kill there the froglok tuk shaman, right after this near the death of the froglok a Man Eating Creeper spawns !
