This quest begins with Yurddle the Caretaker in Katta Castellum (location approximately -600, -1710, 10).

There are three reward items. You can do one part or all of this quest, depending on which items you want:

You say, 'Hail, Yurddle the Caretaker'

Yurddle the Caretaker says 'Greetings stranger. It's nice to have visitors of the living sort. Seems like my work here is never done. When I'm not having to dig fresh graves and keep the mausoleum clean I'm having to refill old graves that have been dug up by the [restless dead] or them disrespectful [grave robbers]!'

You say, 'What grave robbers?'

Yurddle the Caretaker says 'It is unfortunate that there are so many disrespectful people that would rob the graves of the dead. The citizens of Katta Castellum do not commit such crimes against their ancestors but thieves from Shadow Haven, greedy Vampyres, and even members of the traitorous Inquisition seeking old combine relics have been caught digging up the dead. I have [lists of belongings] that have been stolen, it would please the spirits of Katta Castellum greatly if these items are returned.'

You say, 'Tell me about this list of belongings'

Yurddle the Caretaker says 'Here are some lists of items that have been stolen from the crypts of the mausoleum in the past. You may bring each crypts set of four missing items to me separately. It is not necessary to find all three sets of items before returning but any set you do return must be complete to please the spirits. Perhaps you should ask around the shops in the other cities of Luclin if the merchants there have seen the missing items.'

You receive a List of Stolen Items.

Staff of Ethereal Energy

In Marus Seru, kill recuso smugglers until you loot an Aeridia Family Signet Ring.

Find Bertol Flagerty in the Twilight Sea (location -625, -1015, -11). Kill him and loot a Tarnished Copper Runed Wand.

Find Rolktim Cogtop in Fungus Grove (location -1250, -635, -277 -- behind Ebben's tavern). Kill him and loot the Faded Silver Embroidered Robe.

Find Mark Blotter in Shadow Haven (findable with the Find feature, CTRL+F -- location 1185, -295, -45).

You say, 'Hail, Mark Blotter'

Mark Blotter says 'Hail friend! Feel free to browse my selection of scrolls and scroll accessories but be careful when handling them, some of them are quite old and the parchment has seen better days.'

You say, 'What sealed golden seal tube?'

Mark Blotter says 'Ah hah! You are in luck. I just received a sealed golden scroll tube the other day that I think you will find quite acceptable. It seems to be quite old and the craftsmanship is superb! I will part with it for no less than one-thousand gold pieces.'

Hand him 1000 gold pieces:

Mark Blotter says 'Here it is, I am sure you will be very satisfied with this purchase!'

You receive a Sealed Golden Scroll Tube.

Head back to Yurddle the Caretaker in Katta Castellum:

Yurddle the Caretaker says 'I require the Aeridia Family Signet Ring, the Sealed Golden Scroll Tube, the Faded Silver Embroidered Robe, and the Tarnished Copper Runed Wand that were stolen from Holin Aeridias crypt.'

Yurddle the Caretaker says 'Give this box to the ghost of Holin Aeridia.'

Scimitar of Ethereal Energy (used to be Longsword of Ethereal Energy)

Find Flerdo Brigged in the Twilight Sea (location -635, -1020, -16). Kill him and loot the Talikar Family Signet Ring.

Find Maricella Slithra in the Paludal Caverns (location -1425, +1375 -- just outside the camp with Yelloweyes, close to Shadow Haven). She has a place holder. Spawn time is approximately 13 minutes and she doesn't drop the item every time. Loot an Ancient Ornate Combine Dagger from her corpse.

Find Ebben Quickblade in Fungus Grove (location -1165, -575, -275).

You say, 'Hail, Ebben Quickblade'

Ebben Quickblade says 'What ya want? You wouldn't be one of them Talikars come lookin for who robbed your gran daddys grave would ya? Hahaha. Get lost!'

Kill him and loot the Antique Platinum Medal.

Find Pietro Guiccini in Shadow Haven (not available with the Find feature -- location 1464, 65, -45 -- Inn near the bank, upstairs in the northeast corner of the zone).

You say, 'Hail, Pietro Guiccini'

Pietro Guiccini says 'Greetings! Have you ever seen my portraits? I am an artisan and collector of portraitures. If you are looking for a portrait, have one to sell, or wish to commission a piece of art I will be happy to take a look.'

You say, 'what about a portrait?'

Pietro Guiccini says 'I recently purchased a splendid antique portrait of a gorgeous lady that you may be interested in. It is a tad bit faded but a hauntingly beautiful and captivating piece none the less. I would be willing to part with it for 1000 gold pieces.'

Hand him 1000 gold pieces:

Pietro Guiccini says 'Here you are, you have made a marvelous purchase. I see that you have excellent taste.'

You receive a Faded Portrait of a Lady.

Head back to Yurddle the Caretaker in Katta Castellum:

Yurddle the Caretaker says 'I require the Ancient Ornate Combine Dagger, Talikar Family Signet Ring, Faded Portrait of a Lady, and the Antique Platinum Medal that were stolen from Raien Talikars crypt.'

You say, 'what about an old sealed medicine pouch?'

Alchemist Hikal says 'I may have just the thing you are looking for. I recently purchased quite an old and interesting sealed medicine pouch of superb craftsmanship. I will part with it for one-thousand gold pieces.'

K well here goes....

First off thanks alot VI wouldnt it make sense to let players know if you are gonna change a quest in game????Or at least let your guides/gm's know?? WOW after sittin in 2 camps for 2 days tryin to get the items for this quest and then finally gettin them all with help then makin the trek to KC.....and this is no EASY feat for a 30 rog LOL....I get to the spot where this silly knucklehead is supposed to spawn and guess what.....NOTHIN.....
Yeah NOTHIN......and after 2 petitions....still nothin....2 different answers from 2 different guides/gm's and still...NOTHIN...
Finally after sittin for 4 hours and waitin...check allakhazam...and lo and behold more info in 10 min readin than in 2 guides answers LOL LOL LOL...
Now I understand if you wanna nerf it...or whatever but could you maybe let your own guides/gm's know so they can at least provide a LITTLE info on why no quest????
k...now i'm done ranting (I think)
Little info to boot....
There are 2 invis creatures there now near the podium....one is invis spawn and the other is invis ghost....now i tried atackin and nothin....tried hittin with a spell (from a nice wizzie) and nothin my weaps would swing and even proc but no hits whatsoever and nothin from the spells either......tried hailing etc etc with absolutely no answer or anything....and p.s. the way to find them is to hand them a coin....heh it actually works and then they are targeted after you hit trade...
Hope this helps anyone tryin to figure this whole thing out

was talking to a GM and says that this quest was nerffed, but said that i should hold onto my quest items untill the 8th and see what happens, hint hint, im guessing they are going to bring it back up, not sure on what they are going to do with it, maybe no drop, stop pharming, thats what their plan was. SIgh lol this totally sucks though, was in Katta when the zone went down for nerf, was in front of ole yuddler and , bam you have been dissconnected, never say my sword, still waiting to see what happens, sigh as i predicted, got all four items in one night got thier just in time to see it blow up in my face.

After taking a guildie with me to do the quest...running around and camping that chick in the caverns for 4 hours we get to the cemetery and low and behold...the midget isn't up...I petition and obviously get an answer that they got by throwing a dart and a random set of words...Verant loves to mess with this lil ranger...Whatever...I better get my 100pp back cuz I am broke!

It has always irritated me that verrant could care less about folks who quest. Anytime a quest has a decent reward it is nerfed. I wouldnt mind if they made the end items no drop to prevent farming, but they dont care you spent 100pp to get a stupid picture. They just depop the guy and you are SOL. Could the name be a co-incidence? Anyway i took several hours away from leveling again to do quest. Like the armor of ro quests, turns out to have been a complete waste of time

Talked to a GM tonight. Only explanation was that the quest is broken and won't be fixed before the patch on the 8th. My guess is they're changing it!

If that wasn't enough, this was my first turn in to use myself and a druid goes by complaining that he only got 1 turn in done!!!!

Well, for now waiting for them to fix it to see what we get.

Got the items now for the Hammer and Staff (Thanks to expert Guild assistance) and will wait. After completing loot of items in Twilight Sea, I went solo to turnin the items as it was quite late. I was in KC and asked the zone where Yurdle was and was told the quest was Nerfed, great. Ran around for abit looking anyways around the graveyard and Mausoleum and found nothing but gargoyles. So I sit down in front of the Bread Breakers Baked Goods to camp when I get get hit hard by a Vampire of some sort. I was like 10 seconds from camp-pop-out when it caught me offguard and AFK. Welcome back to level 40. Sucks to be me. Now I need a rez or CR from Shar Vahl.
I hope VI reinstates the quest (just make it more difficult) or at least reimburses those who spent the stacks of 1k gp for items that are now worthless.

I went to hand in the items today but was unable to locate Yurddle. This really sucks. At least they should let us know ahead of time so that we dont waste precious time camping useless items. Way to go VI.

Wanna know why?... Cause he is gone!

Explanation that I got was that the quest was broke so they removed old Yurddle.

My story is that I went to turn in my items for the sword and when I turned in my box to the ghost got faction XP and nada nothing zip zilch else! I petitioned... long wait went afk missed the first GM... Yurddle disapeared... and had my quest items returned by the next GM. But no sword and no Yurddle to turn the quest junk into!

Bah! VI will have one angry Bard on there hands if this spells the end of this quest I was going to use this for my main character... not to sell... not for a twink.

Wish us luck and send in bug reports and E-mails to VI about this until they bring it back!

Same exact thing happened to me this morning. After spending 5 hours of waiting in line and tramping around the entire moon (not to mention killing place holders), I got all my pieces. I went and turned em in. Got the box to give the ghost. I gave the ghost the box, msg says I got the sword. No Sword. This is 8am. I procede to petition. After hours and hours of waiting, and three guides asking for my entire story so it could be escalated to the GM, I was contacted. It was no 4pm. The GM gave me back my quest components. I returned to Katta...no Yirdle. There was a group of P'd off players trying to get yirdle to spawn. They said that the GM was saying that the NPC had not spawned and was not broken. He was reportedly hinting that there is now something you have to do to make him spawn. There are now 2 invisible NPC (cant see with see invis) by the podium. One is called "invisible spawner", one is called "ghost spawner". the only way to see/target them is to give them something (like a copper piece). They respond to nothing. This is totally typical of what is going on with EQ lately. If it's not broken, break it. If its a good item or fun, nerf it. I agree that the quest was too easy, but to nerf it for everyone who had already done the quest is just wrong. I feel like by handing back the quest components rather than the sword, the GM was expressing his lack of concern about me (a client). I would like to encourage everyone (even you addicts..cough coughlikeme cough..) to close your account as soon as you can. At least see if you can find a better game that you can switch to...one that works perhaps and that has a staff that cares for the subscribers (we keep the whole thing running by paying em every month).

i just did this quest today, turned in the stuff to caretaker, got box gave box to ghost. i got exp and it said that thing with scimitar materializing and stuff, but i didnt get any sword! checked my bags several times, and unless it requires a bag slot, then i dont know why i didnt get it. and even if it does require a bag slot i should get it on my cursor. anyone know if it is broken?

Yes it is broken.

done it myself and got the messsage that the ghost gave me the sword and got no sword.

I petitioned and a GM gave mme back the four item to do the quest and depoped Yurddle

He has not repoped yet.... maybe i should petition again :)

Ok, i first bought the picture, that went well then i killed Ebben.. he was up when i got there, and not one of his comrades in the bar helped. he was light blue to my 52 and he went down in seconds flat. then i went o kill Frodo baggins or whatever his name is, right across from katta. He was camped but the ring dropped for the other guy, and 13 minutes later a ring dropped for me. I went at approx 8 pm, after frodo to kill Maricella. the dagger dropped 3 times in a row for the kids in front of me. and After waiting 3 spawns of her PH, she dropped the Dagger.

Now i went to Katta.. Awesome city. I waS dubious to Yurrdle, so he wouldnt even talk to me, let alone i wasnt gonna give him the stuff. HOW CAN I RAISE MY FACTION????

i see where someone said above to kill undead, but it was very vague as to who to turnn them into... help please

This quest is virtually easy if u have some help. I had a 60 necro kill the guy in the bar and a 52 ranger kill sir hobbit. WARNING IF U ARE IN THE LOW 40's MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A PERSON HELP YOU KILL FIERDO BRIGGED OTHERWISE HIS BUDDIES ARE AGGRO. Other then that it is easy. MOSTLY. Great weapon to bad the sword gives -5str and sta.

I got the idea to charm Yurrdle.
1) Invis or sneak or whatever and open trade screen
2) have friendly bard or Chanter Chamr him
3) hand him the stuff

This would work for kos ppl but since the ghost spawns i dunno.
Anyone got any ideas on what could be done to make it work?
i was about to try it today but i chickened out .
there were no clerics there and i was bound far away.
anyways if anyone has any ideas as to a way to make it work i would like some input.

I have done all 3 quests as a 55 wizard and had no problems at all with any of the mobs, even Ebben. I have done the sword several times for friends and a couple of times Ebben didnt even touch me- Root, snare, reduce his fire and ice resistance, cast a few nukes- dead. Hope that helps all you people wondering if you could solo it.

Why the hell do NPCs in Luclin even hate iksars? They arent even from the same ****** planet and yet they still hate iksars!

Its bad enough I can only bank in one city in the entire world, I cant even do Luclin quests! And no jandiced bone armor means no JBB which is the best ****** shaman item in the game!

From what I've been able to gather, it has less to do with your race in most Luclin cities than it does with your god. Unfortunately, you don't have much choice but to worship Cazic Thule, and he's not so popular in Katta. :(

In my opinion this quest is either too easy or the blade is too good. The blade is just way too easy to get compared to other things that are comparable to it -- I mean, insanely easy. And I love using it, it's a great offhander for a rogue, but if they don't change this nearly 95 percent of all players above lvl 30 will be using this as their offhander. And that would be odd for a game with over a thousand weapons.

A nice 5 hour quest

I've just did this quest with my 48th Ranger early in the morning to avoid the camps and I found it was worth my while to do it early. As everyone has suggested, the hardest part in the quest is either killing Ebben or waiting for the spawns. I guess I was lucky on both counts.

Ebben was a bit of a challenge for me. Although I think I got lucky because he appeared within 15 mins of waiting. And it was fairly easy to own his little buttocks once I root him and ventilated him full of holes. He really has bad magic resists even though he cons dark blue to me.

The halfling was no problem at all. By the time I got there he was uncamped and was ready to be pulled. A quick harmony spell on his friends solved the problem of them joining in the fray and I just sliced and diced the little halfling down to smaller pieces. By the way, he conned light blue to me.

The longest part of the quest was camping Maricella Slithra. She's on a 13 min timer but she is camped the heavest. I had to wait until the 3 other campers got their daggers before I got mine. Again, I got lucky because that mob spawns once out of 2 or 3 times and had the dagger each time. Still I spent about 2 hours waiting for my turn and for her.

Out of the entire ordeal, I think the scarest moments for me in this quest was trying to travel though Fungus Grove when EVERYTHING conned red to me. Eck. Word of advise, go invis and pray to whatever deities that you know your way around the zone and that your invis doesn't fade when you're in the middle of a nasty crowd. Oh one more thing, once you get to Yurddle the Caretaker's place, stay off the grass. They don't like people trampling on their finely manicured lawn.

He is on a 15-16 minute spawn timer...The other 2 with him do not help him (or atleast you can solo pull Fierdo). He hits for 80 max and I (51 Shammy) just slowed him and put pet on him and nuked once. Took me 5 kills to finally get thing ring tho. Haha I must be unlucky. Now I just need faction to turn in the items...Anyone have any ideas? I am being told Coterie and Seru Guards give faction but Coterie are hard and Seru Guards make you KoS all over. Anyone heard anythign else?

Dont do the quest on holidays....

I have done the SoEE, And Yurddle just gimme the box for me to hand into Horlin for my rewards...
Then i find out HOrlin finally...but after i hand in the box Horlin gimem enothing or even say anythings.......
OK i petitioned and the GUide call em to Email to EQ boards and need to wait the GM back from vacation....
Ok I am sorry ~that's my fault..i should not do the quest while holidays,and i should check out that Horlin just like to EAT the box w/o paying for your Efforts...tho this quest is simple..that's still X^$%*....Time to log out for some rest....

What the hell are you talking about? Who is Horlin? You give the box to the ghost that will spawn next to Yurddle when you hand him the 4 items. In the case of SoEE that would be Raien's Ghost. Try reading the quest details next time you try and complain about it being broken...better yet before you try and complete the quest at all. Yeah I hate VI's customer service as much as the next guy, but what did you honestly expect on a holiday? Not to mention this was your ***** up not theirs...for a change.

And I got it last night with the help of a 31 and a 37 druid, and a 40 Warrior (who was going for his second one after trading the first)

We each got one, the druids keeping them for their alts, and it took us a while but was fairly easy. We were only using one druid for Ebben as the other was camping Maricella. They had trouble getting the dagger. Seems like she only has it 1 out of every 5 times. (or he was very unlucky) Both me and the other warrior got it the first time she popped. Easy kill, only level 27 or so.

Fierdo is quite simple. 13 min. spawn About level 30-35 and dropped the ring 4 out of 5 times for us. Not to mention he's a hop skip away from Katta, best to save him for last.

Ebben is the worst. He's the toughest of all three, (About level 40-41) an hour spawn and usually camped. Don't try soloing him till your about level 50. And even then make sure you can somehow root or snare him so he doesn't run outside or the guards will kill you. (so I hear)

So there's a take on it if you're lower level and want to do it. You can quite easily with a few friends helping ya.

Few of us are scared Verant is gonna nerf it so we're trying to help as many as our guildmates to get one ASAP just in case.

1 out of 5 times she drops dagger...you unlucky? HA...I camped her for 4 1/2 hours, killed her about 12-14 times and STILL no dagger. I gotta go back today and try again. It is the last peice I need. Starting to get on my nerves.

Bah, that's not so bad, I spent 6 hours camping her before I got one...The people I feel bad for are the two people that were in line behind me, they waited the whole time too, and this was an overnight thing.

Oh, btw, nobody take the Halfling in Twilight for granted. He's not overly hard, but the two NPCs beside him also agro. So, long story short, I have to go on a CR from Iceclad to Twilight :) Forgot to bind...

You have to give him the 4 items at the same time for which ever weapon you are doing. Plus you also have to have a good faction with the Caretaker or he won't give you the box to give to the ghost.
