We easily took out the 2 pit mobs last night with 5 people, 58 rogue, 61 warrior, 59 shaman, 61 cleric, 60 enchanter. A 64 druid joined afterwards and we killed numerous mobs in HoT. It was slow with only 2 melee but we had no problems until some idiot opened the HoT door and all hell broke loose.

Just so this doesn't pass without comment, I'll answer. Though this mob is hardly endgame in 2003, a single group under 60 will never get past the first mob in HoT. A single group of 65s could doubtless do OK against at least the unnamed mobs in HoT, but there's not much reason for them to try. HoT is intended for large groups of 52+ who need to upgrade their basic armor.

My buddy and I go to HoT, each 3boxing:

Me:
63 Enchanter
59 Paladin
49 Druid

Him:
62 Monk
62 Cleric
58 Shaman

We aren't speedy and mostly just pull to the entrance. I'd say we kill around 6 or so dragons per hour. We aren't the best equiped, but we manage. Having evac is nice if you don't like long corpse recovery periods, but I still recommend binding your chanter and cleric just outside of HoT.

If you do die under some dragon's spawn point, pacify from the chanter and FD corpse pulling from the monk works well enough.

The white dragons gate, and are your biggest threat. If you can drain their mana it seems to make all thei difference in the world though.

I like the pally for group heals to make up for the dragon fire, the shaman malo and chanter tash are both pretty critical, because without slow you are in for a rough ride. Best off evacing if slow doesn't land in the first 20%. Try again with fresh mana.

Mostly, it goes smooth, but I can say that there are moments of "ugh" and "gaaah"... The drops are decent for us at our level. I think we killed our first burning guardian when we were averaging about 2 levels lower. It was so slow though that it wasn't reasonable to really stay there. Just fun to say we did it.

We're Twilight Legends on the Terris Thule Server. Some say we're nuts, but really -- we just like our hair on fire.

One group of 60s can easily clear in HoT. Tash/Malo and slow and some one pulling that is willing to take one for the team and you are golden. The biggest problem is gaters and if you arrange the melee right thats not a big deal. You don't even really need a monk, I pull it all the time as a ranger and only get adds when I am sloppy. You simply have to have the will to figure it out.

I would go so far as to say that one group 60+ could take anything in HoT except for Dozekar the Cursed. Even he could be done by a very good group. I had a group try him once(we are pretty good) and we were able to get him down under 70% before we wiped, and have since done him with just 9.

I'm looking for info on higher-end gaming. I've got an extended group of friends that have a sort of proto-guild going (we use a chat channel and a mailing list, and get together in RL as well). We're starting to get up in levels (mid-40s-to-mid-50s mostly, though some are working on alts) and are thinking about things like, "will we ever be able to do ToV, Kael, Ssra, etc?"

We've thought about hooking up with other groups or small guilds who want to start exploring higher level stuff, but right now we've mostly been working on experience and getting us all up into the 50s (sigh, I'm still 46 after all this time).

Any tips for groups like this? Any words from those who have had luck without joining some uber-end-game guild?

Are mobs like this 60th level guy going to require more than one group, or could one group take him once we're all high 50s or 60 and have some decent stuff?

Thanks!

Get your guild into the 60's and a lot of "raid" content will open up. SSra and pop zones will alwsy be out without some numbers, but a couple of groups who work well together can do ToV. The worst thing is competition now from so many smaller guilds
As to the bigger high end zones look at forming an alliance with other like minded guilds or even with a larger guild as even they at times ( some not all) need extra numbers on a raid or a backflagging
