Yes they are animals my 38 Ranger has been fear kiteing them ) Loot average 3pp, griff feathers, blood, meat, runes, words & a pearl, thats all i've had so far.
Lots of strange foraged stuff to be had here too btw.
37 Ranger on test center cons several griffawns as dark blue. Also like griffs in the karanas they con aggressively, although since they are so close to my level I've yet to try and take one out.
Are these aggressive toward Beastlords? I'd rather not take a risk, as the griffins in the Plains of Karana are very aggressive. I'm wondering because I noticed that they are classified as an "animal". Just wondering if someone could clear this up for me. Thanks in advance.

I took my Ranger to JP at level 45 and had no idea that griffawns could have panic animal cast on them and was very happy and suprised to see that they could be. Now I'm pushing level 49 and have yet to leave the area. These are by far the best things for Rangers to solo kill. They drop as much as 5 pp and have some medium quality loot that can be stacked and sold for about 5 gold on average. I've killed as many as 3 of these without having to med (I'm sure there are those of you out there who are skillful enough to kill more without medding but I am not a god :)] ,so downtime is much less and have leveled much faster from 45 to 49 than I did from 40 to 45. I will say however that at 48, tracking down a DB griffawn is rather challenging and I figure that when I actually reach 49 that I'll be able to use my new Ranger spells to move up to the griffons.
I got a 10wis 20hps -20cha Primary/Secondary/Range (Eye of the Griffon)and a 6ac 3agl 10hp earring which i don't member the name of. The eye isn't too rare either.
If you look up the information on the Eye itself you will also see that the statement "The eye isn't too rare either" isnt exactly true. One person stating that they have killed over 300 Griffawns and Griffon's and has yet to have it drop.
As for confirming that it can drop off Fawn's, sure. The one I killed today dropped Griffenne Blood. I didnt even notice it was a female when I was killing her hehehe.
I think I've killed more of these than any human being ever has and they have never dropped a eye or a earring. I think that the griffons drop them not the griffawns. But there always is a possibility that I have the worst luck possible.
There are also Griffons in JP What is the estimated lvl range of those? I had a friend with me that was 39 and it conned red to him, but db to me, lvl 44 at the time =)
Yes, there are timber griffons and timber griffawns. The griffons are higher lvl, light blue to 60, dark blue to me at 49. Griffawns are green to 55, dark and light blue to me at 49, and near the fort. Animal spells work on both.
I am a 54 druid and Griffons con DB and LB, most are DB though. All Griffawns con green. Out of 100 or so Griffons I have seen very little loot. I have a looted a 6ac 3 agi earring, griffon down- no drop lore, griffenne blood, griffon feather, griffon skull-no drop, and numerous words and runes along with no more than 7pp. I have read about a nice wisdom item dropping but have yet to see it.
