Woot! I just got the Burnoose of the Half-breed for my Froglok Rogue. I camped the Poachers Camp (SE area of zone) with my 62 BST and 70 CLR with my rogue camped out at the fire pit. I camped the area for just over 3hrs clearing each tent and the firepit over and over. In those 3hrs, Zed popped 4 times: once at the firepit and three times in the middle tent. He dropped the Burnoose on the 4th hit from the middle tent.
All in all this was a much easier camp than expected and well worth it for the fun of the illusion. Good luck everyone!
I camped this guy for weeks. I was lucky, very lucky, I had read about the burnoose and came and saw Zed and killed him and got the burnoose the very first kill. I told my better half about the burnoose and since she has a lowby rogue, I figured that I would get her one. I camped her rogue on the big rock by the fire and hunted Zed. For weeks and weeks I hunted this rare fool. Finally! Finally, I get him and he has the burnoose. I quickly logged her toon on and had it loot the burnoose. Oh what a happy rogue I was. I was the very proud provider for her and I ran her rogue to POK and was gonna show it off to the rest of the guildies and low and behold, the dang burnoose has a lower level of usage on it. Her rogue is only 28 and can't use it until 34. Sigh! Maybe I had better read all of the infor before doing a favor like this again. LOL

Was lucky enough to have him spawn within 30 minutes of clearing the camp, dropped on first try. As of 8/8/05

26 kills later... and 8 days of camping (2-5hours a day) i got it...confirmed still drops as of July/13/05

Ok, so i cleared the camp the entire day (7/8/05) with my 65 ench (rogue camped right at camp to loot mask) And i found this out.... Zed did not spawn once at the fire, and spawned 3 times in different tents. To me his spawns are completly random. I tried leaving the named up, didnt work, then i cleared the camp didnt work. Honestly, to me it seems he is just a random spawn and a random drop (i'm 0 - 3 on the mask). Anyways, thats just from my 8hour camp on him. Good luck everyone :\

I camped the poachers last night for about 90 minutes, then came back this morning to try again with a freshly temped pet (couldn't get virtue). Kept the tents and firepit cleared. Zed spawned twice in the large tent, different spot each time, dropped boots and head but no burnoose.
Then he spawned at the fire, took him down again and this time he had the burnoose. Camped my 54 necro, logged the rogue and looted my prize.
Including the fire spawn (where the named ones predictably spawn), Zed appeared three times in about two hours.

Then he spawned at the fire, took him down again and this time he had the burnoose. Camped my 54 necro, logged the rogue and looted my prize.
Including the fire spawn (where the named ones predictably spawn), Zed appeared three times in about two hours.

I don't know how this happened but I was clearing the camp with my lvl 70 shammy friend. We were basicaly killing them as they spawned. We were starting in on the large tent on the right and Zed spawned on the bottom left post when facing east. We killed him quickly and no luck with mask. I thought "hell, another 2 hours till spawn!" Then all of a sudden he spawned again on the upper right post. I've never hear of him spawning so soon after death. Unfortunatly, he still didn't drop it

Currently going on 4 hours of watching a baby bard macro chant kite the fire spawns and closest tent spawns and clearing the spawns he's not kiting... Have seen every named but Zed, some a few times.
It's not as bad as for some though =P This other bard is doing a lot of the work for me (I left for an hour or so to go to class, figured it wouldn't pop while I was gone =P) and since he already agreed that Zed as mine (and is afk w/the macro anyway), i just gotta be alert =P
A lot of these posts were helpful though, I've made sure to keep the two big tents clear, although the only named have come from the campfire and the back of the small tent (proxmity aggro on said baby bard).

What exactly is the 4th spot? It seems that when I camped it there were only 3 pops at the fire...

The 3 you refer to are the regular spawn points, and once every 2 hours or so, the 4th spot spawns. (it's the open spot on the West side of the fire)

Buhawawa *devilish laugh* came here with the time and cafeen to camp him for a day or so , showed up and he waz up (remained calm because of prev. posts) parked rog at the camp and killed him with necro (died in 10 sec with 2x dots :P) droped Burnoose of the halfbreed 1st try. waznt in zone more than 5 mins ^_^

Does Burnoose of the Halfbreed still drop? Heard that it didn't...
Got it to drop on 3/11/05. Head dropped also. Caught him prety far from poacher camp, not sure if all the Zeds wander but tis one sure did.

Wahoo! Burnoose of the Halfbreed dropped for my Rogue on October 17, 2004 on the Xev server after camping it for 3 days . Zed popped about 7 times during that time period. The first 6 pops were at the 4th spot around the Campfire and the last pop was at the riverside opening of the southernmost big tent. For what it's worth,when he spawned at the campfire he was the only one that spawned at that 4th spot when I camped it. Hope this helps.

Forgot to mention, His head dropped and I dont know if any other loot did, but from my experience with these named in this camp, they will usually only drop one of the possible drops in their loot table, with the head always dropping.
So my best guess, would be that Zed has a 1 in 3 chance of dropping the mask. However, the mask could have a reduced chance to drop, 20% with the other 2 drops having a 40% each.

I've seen everything this guy has now. He also has a pair of boots that drops.
The one time I saw him drop the Burnoose, he also had the collar and a rune on him, so he can drop more than 1 item, and the head is always there.
BTW his corpse is like a 6 minute rot time so the burnoose rotted as i ran my bard there, I was really pissed and its the only i've seen in at least 75 zed kills.

Can anyone confirm
1. His spawn rate ( I hear its 2 - 2.5 hours )
2. IF he has a PH or if he has a 1 in X chance of popping in the 4th spot every X hours ??

I've seen Zed at the campfire, at the back of the long tent facing the river, and at the back of the long tent facing the river in front of the right post.

one simple word .. ******* !! i am so sick of him ,, i have killed him a few times ( 11 ) and no mask , im giving it just a few more and im giving up ,,, ok i guess im not ill keep killing him till he drops the mask cause im an ADDICT !!!

After an obscene number of hours camping place, and 15 Zed Kills later I finally got it.
Wouldnt you know it though. Last week while I was leveling my Wizard there Zed spawned by himself at the fire. No Rogues on or about, so when he decided to take his suicide walk I ganked him. Now my Wizard has a Burnoose as well. Of all the rotten stinking luck.

For the past few days I have been trying to get this illusion mask. I have noticed something about the named pops that no one else has posted before so i figured I would post it. From what I have seen the only spot that pops the named in the tents is the tent with 5 poachers in it. The ph for that tent is the first one you see when you walk in, she has his/her back to you. Also i noticed a clue as to when the named at the bonfire is going to spawn. Right when the 2hour timer on that named is up, one of the poachers walks west, over the hill, and over to the panther. Since the panthers kill them, I believe it's the programmers way of getting this named to pop on its own. So when you see that you know to wait around for a few minutes. From what we saw (65 warrior-me and 65 Bardess) any named can pop at any spot in the entire camp. We obviously could clear the entire camp with no problems and keep way ahead of the spawn. I think we had some form of a named pop at at least three-quarters of the spots in the camp at one time or another.
The mask does still drop - got it on Prexus 04-05-04. We had camped the poachers for around 100 hours in the past 3 weeks and he finally gave up the loot yesterday afternoon. It was our third hour at the camp yesterday and his second spawn of the day. We had only seen about 4 other named spawn in that time which is drstically lower than pre-patch. I've been camping here with my bard for 4 days and I did it with my ranger a while back for 3 days. I've personally seen named poachers in the big tent (6-man tent) in the end spot facing the water and at the two spots right behind him. I've also seen named pop in the 5 man tent in the spot facing AWAY from the water and the one with his back towards you when you're looking in the tent. I've seen them at all 4 campfire spots. All the campfire spots are roamers. After 15 mins they roam and get killed, then get replaced. The one trend I noticed is it seems the campfire spots spawn more named. I was wiping out all the tents and leaving the campfire alone. This was causing the static spawns to pop twice as often as the campfire spawns, giving me a 10:1 (15 spawns X 2:3 campfire spawns) better chance of spawning named in the tents. Oddly enough, in the course of 4 hours, I got 5 named from the campfire and 2 from the tents, Yranik being the most common and then Reynold. This leads me to believe that even though the named CAN pop in the tents, if you can't handle clearing the whole camp, it'll be better to just stick to the campfire. BTW, my bard at lvl 53 had no problem chant kiting and clearing the camp, while I watched level 60 rogues that couldn't solo Yranik. Don't go toe to toe with these guys, they can mess you up.
Logged on today and right in front of me (53druid) was zed ,I took him down with 2 rounds of winged death and breath of ro.Hoped my *** off he haad the burnoose and .. he did!!!!!, logged my rogue delkai who was camped here(lvl26) waited 40 secs and got my sexy new mask!!!, now I just have to lvl a bit so I can use it =).

was bored, had thought about the fact that one of these rotted afew days back (was offered up in server auction to loot) checked here to see where it was, sneak/hid over with my rogue to see what was up.. hey people, wonder if those are the poachers... click on person & well, it was Zed! quick log on my main (65 war) run over still up, tag & bag look & see... the Burnoose!(head too) log my Rogue back on & pray the wildlife doesn't eat me before the corpse is unlocked :o) Now in a few levels my Vah Shir will be able to be a lil halfbreed too! sad thing is still no Guise for her as it's 5x harder to get to/do... well she'll be wearing it even if she can't use it yet!

damn is that mask rare, I have killed Zed about 40 times literally, been camping him over a week and no mask has dropped. I am beggining to believe that the mask doesnt drop anymore. Anyone know if this is true?

I killed Zed last night on Maelin Starpyre, the mask dropped, but I couldn't get my rogue there in time. GRRRR. I was new to the zone & didn't know about the drop. I will keep trying now though!
I've killed Zed at least 30 times, gotten enough heads to get countless Sigil rings and I *still* have never seen this mask. I don't even want the thing (can't use it) I just want to see it...

My first day in zone he , his wife and the 2 blackguards were wandering through the woods together killing animals. I had no idea who they were so avoided them. I also had yanick attack me when on the opposite side of the hill from camp so they may range out from the camp some.

6 hours of camping with a Zed no show. Killed the other names a few times each and decided to leave. Came back an hour later and a monk was farming pelts off the poachers. He trained the entire camp to the animals then feigned and let the animals take care of it. Perhaps this helped, as the next pop there was Zed in one of the tents and he dropped the mask.

I had nothing better to do so I decided to pop into JPF and check and see if Zed was there. I zoned in and there was only one other person in the zone and they were afk. I ran over to the camp, looked in the big tent and what did my eyes see. Zed ...and he was in half elf form. YAY
I quick call for a healer in guildchat and a druid comes to help. Two mins later I'm looking at my new toy while in half elf form..
Oh and btw...if your a rogue and can't solo them and are still not KOS to them and dont want to waste your time there with nothing to do...Pickpocket them..You can get all the pelts and most of the coin with no hassle. At least it's something to do while there.

Just cuz he's in half elf form doesn't mean he'll drop the mask. I think he's always in Half Elf form actually. I killed him when he was and he didn't drop it.
