Aten Ha Ra

Raid Encounter

Uploaded July 14th, 2022 by halfridge

In Vex Thal: Aten Ha Ra is the end-game boss of the Shadows of Luclin expansion. Her Spawn time is 7 days or instant after a server-down and her total hitpoints are around 1.75 million.. "Akevan Warders" present in her room indicate other mobs in the zone are still up and that she will be casting a 100k Deathtouch often if engaged.

  • HP Estimate: 1.75 million
  • Single-Target Rampages: Yes

In the Plane of Shadow: Located in the palace entrance room, just north of the zone-in area. For all things Rain of Fear, check out this overview of the expansion.

Immune to stuns.

Current status (as of June 2019):

- respawn time on all VT bosses past the entrance area is 3-4 days (3.5 days plus/minus 12 hr);
- the AE DT punishment that Aten Ha Ra and Diabo Xi Xin Thall cast if you aggro them when Kaas Thox Xi Ans Dyek is still alive is Destroy II
Cast rate

She casts pbaoe stun Word of command every 30 seconds~5 ticks.

Fling is cast every ~50 seconds

Not sure about the silence, didn't see her cast it in the logs, but I was silenced for about half the fight.

Her DPS is around ~480 on a 950ac lvl 75 with no shield equipped Paladin
Updated HP estimate is 1.6 million hps

1,605,700 HP. This includes regen of 600 seconds ~ 100 ticks. So actual HP is likely just below of 1.6mil

How to get to Aten Ha Ra.

I love how no one ever actually says how to get to where the end boss mob is, or which pillars to click on and which not to, so I will do so now.

You'll have to follow along on your ingame map.

1st Floor
Once you're in the front door, go straight through the big hallway, ignoring the 4 way intersection, and into the hallway with the T intersection that can only go left or right. Go either way until you get the far west end of the map, then go up the staircase.

2nd Floor
Once you've gone up that staircase, you won't be on the 2nd Floor for long. Go straight across from the staircase to a big room with a black pillar. Click on that pillar to go to the 3rd Floor.

3rd Floor
From here, it doesn't matter if you can go either left or right. Both ways lead to a dead end, both having a black pillar. Click on that pillar to go to the central part of the 3rd Floor that's between those two pillar on the map.

Once it ports you over, it will look like you are in kind of a small room with a black pillar on the other side, even though the map looks like it keeps going past the room. DO NOT CLICK ON THIS PILLAR. It will port you out to the entrance. Instead, walk right past this pillar and straight through the false wall behind it. Once you get past the false wall, you'll now be in the hallway that's over the 4 way intersection on the 1st Floor by the entrance. You'll see another black pillar at the end of this hallway, which will take you up to the final boss room (Aten Ha Ra).

In this room, there is a black pillar on both sides of a statue of Aten Ha Ra. Click on either one to exit the building to the lawn outside.
Finally was up..

Ran my box druid account in to check for nameds (I usually leave her camped in there so I can log on and check tracking), and she was up. First time ever I seen her spawned and I started eq in early 2003. I loaded my main account and ran my 95 BST thru there. I clicked on the pillar I thought was correct and it zoned me back to the entrance, so I ran back through, I was lucky the trash had not respawned, ran back through again and then clicked the proper pillar. Casted focus paragon on myself and engaged. She was dead in under 2 minutes. Loot table was a meele mask, caster clicky wrist band, spell, gem, clicky healer ring. Now I can add defeating Luclin to my list of expansions I have beaten the end boss. I noticed when she died, there was no emots or anything from her, weird. Have fun all...!!!

I didn't see what happened, whether I got flung through a wall or whatever but for some reason my boxed Berserker got exiled to the courtyard out the front when fighting her.

Definately a new experience for me when taking her on. Still no Proccy Gloves. /sigh.

Good thing I had my mage there to CoH him back into the fight.
# Jun 26 2014 at 2:29 AM Rating: Decent
What likely happened and what has happened to me previously is that you were gravity fluxed and landed on the portal stone. This causes the stone to activate even if you don't click it and you will appear to be banished. For this reason I try and get as far away from the stone during combat as possible.

Find it kind of bad that how VT gear had so much ac and added so much attack and seems to ahve so much more clickies than any other raid zones out today. For example just got a wristband from one of the relic dragon yet the leather barcer from AHR has 11 more ac :P. Then some of the items here add 50 atk yet you dont see that much raw attack on anything anymore. Seems like they just supplement all this with adding alot of hp to gear yet as a druid i still drop like im nothing with 2k ac and 10.2k hp unbuffed. Somethigns up with this picture bet alot of the mobs from VT still have a hell of alot more ac than the PCs. Something should really be done :P.
# Mar 22 2007 at 10:45 AM Rating: Decent
There was some crazy AC on some ToV and Luclin items. I think by PoP armor sets and other gear was starting to get balanced better. In reality the Wristband of Judgement was way ahead of it's time and your Stretched Dragonback Bracer is probably on par.

You have been Eradicated. You have take 83000 points of damage. whats is that?
# Aug 09 2011 at 5:01 PM Rating: Decent
what it means is that you havent killed all the mini- bosses first and if you dont Akhevan Warder will be up thur out the zone. you cant' kill Athen unless u killed all her min- bosses and if u try u get a DD from her around 80k to 90k so beware kill minis first then your good:)

never seen that on fake aten or real aten. (we used to farm vt every single week, for quite a while)

No idea what that could have come from.

comes from not killing all the mini- bosses first before attacking Aten, so kill all the minis first then you'll have np

One of four possible spells. Can anyone confirm which one Aten Ha Ra uses?

it is Destroy 100,000 damage. The spellshielding on players armor is why noone usually takes the full 100,000
# Jan 05 2007 at 12:50 PM Rating: Decent
Pretty sure she only uses destroy when one of the Warders are still up. If you kill everything, she doesn't use it.
# Nov 17 2006 at 12:24 AM Rating: Decent
confirmed mob casted Destroy on me on 2nd attempt.

I started playing in march 2004. By the time I was able to even possibly think about going to VT no one was going there anymore. Until this mob was on the retrospective link...I hadn't even heard of this zone. D'oh.

What does this beast hit for? And approx what HP tank you need?
# Mar 06 2005 at 2:41 AM Rating: Decent
Our tank has 11.5k hp fully raid buffed. He prolly had 9800 first time we did her.

Use fast heals, she is fully slowable, Iirc she hits for around 1500. Can't confirm though.

We have done her with 3 clerics, needed to twitch them though as the fight isn't exactly short. Rampages, but 1 shaman can heal RT.

AHR getting too easy
# Jul 23 2004 at 5:56 PM Rating: Decent
Recently took a guild force of 26 (which included only 1 cleric and 2x boxed clerics)

One cleric died due to bad rampage so only 2 clerics left the whole fight (the boxed ones too!) and it was easy enough for one cleric to keep healing once it was slowed. If only she didnt ae grav flux )

As long as your RT stays up (best to have the puller obviously) and AHR is slowed easily , 2 clerics can keep a 4 sec CH rota on a decent MT easily

2 cler 4 sec = 8 sec, no way for 10 sec + .5-1.5 sec refresh on ch hehe you sure? 2 at 6 is doable, 2 at 5 is pushing it. ya ahr gettin easy.
RE: AHR getting too easy
# Aug 03 2004 at 6:28 PM Rating: Default
i was boxing the cleric , as was another officers in my guild.

Now that i think of it , was definately a 5 sec , but still one cleric coulda kept the heals on. With MT on defensive even a Paladin coulda did the healing!

We always use teamspeak , so it was easy for us to communicate when the AE Flux went off.

AHR still a fun kill tho , and her awsome loots ( i still want my neck and mask plz!) , only thing is the 4/5 hours clearing before it :/

possible to take her down with 2 groups of elemental flagged people?
RE: 2 Groups?
# May 19 2004 at 12:20 PM Rating: Decent
I would say yes, that is if you can make it there with only 2 groups. Cleric x 3, Sham, Wiz x 3, 2 good tanks, pally, enchanter, and a open spot for whatever.
RE: 2 Groups?
# Apr 25 2005 at 1:09 PM Rating: Decent
I would say 3 clerics, 3 wizards, a chanter, bard, 2 tanks, a shaman and a necro would be more than enough for this encounter.

I'd be willing to bet that AHR is groupable now....Warrior, cleric, wizard, wizard, shaman, bard...maybe....

I would go one step further and say if you're elemental, your clerics have FT 15 (or should unless you zerg), so you can have 2 clerics.

Would suggest cleric (2), druid (for pot9), chanter, shammy, ROGUE (seeing as you MUST have a rogue to get thru VT), Warrior, pally, Necro, bard and wizzys (2). Put the necro with the druid, clerics, and wizzys and they all should have good mana (2/5 the mobs there are MWable).

Necro + sos rogue = all single pulls (if you don't know why, I'm not gonna tell ya =) ). It's gravy from there. Only tough spot will be when you port up to Mini aten. 4 unmezzables, so your tanks need to be good.

We dropped her the other night for about the 3rd / 4th time. Took something like 12 mins for 40 or so people. She has about 1.7million hp for those that were curious

You begin casting Lifeburn
You have slain Aten Ha Ra

She/he is a fun fight. We use a monk to FD pull her to the corner of the room adjacent to her room, box her with MT in corner facing her, with other melees and every pet that can be cast belting her from behind. The nukers and dotters are on the north wall and basically blast her flat. The clerics and any other semi-healing types seem to be able to at least partially avoid her AE silence by moving into her room and casting heals thru into the other room (similar to Saryrn). Dropped her with 23 people in 6 minutes.

Word of Command - resistable
Fling - appears to be unresistable, but avoidable if you are OOR
Silence - as for fling. Any info on whether anyone has resisted it would be welcome.

She dropped the Torch of Judgement for us, which I have not seen in many many kills, and had almost given up on for the priests.

Shes pretty......but jeez she nearly wiped us out! Tanks went down pretty quick guess we wasn't really organized but clerics rezzed as our bodies rained and we basically zerged her. Yes it can be done!

Actually, she has a 4th AE.... the 4th can only be casted if her warders are still up. It's called Destroy.

And it hurts, bad.

I'm pretty sure AHR does it herself. Someone in our guild had the bright idea to CoH (she had a CoH mage mule parked behind AHR) to Aten room from zone in to take her out without killing anything else. We engaged her from behind and she promptly eradicated us one by one. It was quite funny. =)
