Good question...

Although I've heard of Ornate Chain Bridles, I've never found any information as to WHAT monster drops them. Since I don't have any Premium services here or any other site, some input would be well appreciated.

in everquest there are some main catagorys that mobs are in, like quest NPCs, merchant, and monsters are things that you can kill for loot and ****, but i dont know how u can kill one of these cause u cant attack anything in bazaar unless ur in the PvP arena!

1. Does the type of bridle affects in the appearance of the horse? I mean do certain type of bridles look cool or they look exactly the same as the other bridles?...
2. Need ways to earn more money..(for my horse)please tell me how..
3. Why dont you see many people with horses.. are 100,000 pp too dificult to earn?

plz excuse my silly questions.. LOL...
RE: i luv horses

Hehe, im pretty sure you were asking retorical (or how ever the spell it) questions, but i'll answer em anyways.

1.) Yes, the type of birdal affects the type of horse ALOT, a rope bridle produces a slower horse, and the color of the bridle affects the color of the horse, altough, the chain bridle on the other hand, is the fastest horse in the game, altough it doesnt matter, because the SMART people only buy horses because of the natural med thing (makes it so your always medding if your on the horse, increasing mana regen, duh!)

2.) Need money for the horse? Well, i'd like one too! Hehe, no, but really, the best ways of getting money may be farming stuff, or the old bazaar trick (buy low, sell high). There's actually hundreds (no exagerastion) or ways to get money, depends on how much you play, what you define as fun, etc.

3.) Why dont you see many people with horses? Well, that's a hard question to answer, there's 4 possible reasons

a.) People dont want you to see there beutiful horse, so they make it go away when they see you coming.

b.) Your server is fairly poor, meaning that people would rather spend there 10-100K elsewhere.

c.) Your in the wrong (non-horse) place, at the wrong (non-horse) time, so people dont usually run around with there horses in the zone your in.

d.) And the last possible reason is maybe your not playing EverQuest, perhaps your playing Diablo 2, but it came in an EverQuest box...It could happen...

I'm sorry I couldnt answer your questions better, hehe, please just ignore answer d.!

Ok, here are the speeds of the Horses...

Rope Bridle = 25% Movement Rate Increase (8000-13000PP)

Leather Bridle = 50% Movement Rate Increase (27000-41000PP)

Silken Bridle = 60% Movement Rate Increase (60000-85000PP)

Chain Bridle = 70% Movement Rate Increase (95000-136000PP)

Ornate Chain Bridle = 85% Movement Rate Increase (Only dropped off high level NPCs in Luclin)

A note on prices, the most expensive price represents a 40 charisma while the lowest price represents a 110 charisma. 110 charisma is the best you can have for the horse merchants, anything higher doesn’t lower the prices further. You can see how getting a high level charisma buff would be good when buying a horse though.

Advantages

-Sitting on horseback allows casters/hybrids to meditate without incurring the agro you gain from sitting down.
-You can run from outdoor fights a lot easier. Faster horses naturally mean easier fights to flee from.
-You move at the same speed on horseback regardless of how encumbered you become.
-Horses can be used at level 1.
-When riding a horse you get an innate Safefall skill of 150.

Disadvantages

-Meleeing is a lot harder on horseback than not on horseback. Frequently, you get the message 'your target is too far away' or 'you can't see your target'. Looting from horseback can also be problematic as you click on your mount instead of the corpse.
- Currently if you cast the wrong spell during a fight, you can't interrupt it by ducking.
Most, if not all illusions, don't stack while you're on horseback.
-For kiting classes, kiting is not very easy as horses require a 1 to 4 seconds to get going and 1 to 4 seconds to fully stop for spell casting purposes.
-Horses are expensive to obtain and also No-Drop. This means you can’t sell it to other players later, though there is an NPC in The Bazaar that allows you to sell your horse for roughly 60% of what you paid for it should you want a better horse later.
-Horses require food and water from your rations to upkeep.
-Horses have a casting time to summon. Unlike Journeyman Boots you cannot simply click them and be instantly on a horse. The only exception to this is the Paladin and Shadowknight horses obtained via alternate advancement which are instant use.
-Beggars who see you on horseback assume you can give them high-level gear and that you're rich.

Summary

Overall, horses are the most beneficial to casting classes, both wisdom and intelligence casters. In high-end raids where a lot of casters need to med during fights, it’s beneficial as you don’t gain the agro from sitting down while not on horseback. However, interrupting spells you mistakenly cast or don’t want to cast can be annoying, especially if you’re a cleric casting Complete Heal.

For Melee classes, horses are pretty much a very expensive luxury aimed at getting you from point A to point B. Meleeing on horseback is especially difficult because the mobs tend to be too far away or you can’t see them, even though they can still pound on you.

For Hybrids, horses tend to be in the same boat as melee classes, though if they are fixed so that you can melee well on horseback, it might be a little more useful in gaining mana back faster. Still, Paladins and Shadow Knights get a special AA skill that summons a horse for them that is as good as the Ornate Chain Bridle horses, so patience might be better than putting out a minimum of 8,400pp for a horse. Out of all the hybrids, Beastlords would gain the most benefit as they tend to be the most mana-dependant hybrid class out of all the hybrid classes.

Lastly, Bards are the least likely to ever need a horse. They have Selo’s and horses are kiting-unfriendly, so Bards would be better off with their Selo’s over a horse in my opinion.

Do casters get the "can't see target" message as well?
RE: Horses
# Dec 11 2003 at 8:02 PM Rating: Decent
i dont know for sure cause ive never gotten a horse cause i dont exactly make enough plat :-P but i would doubt they would get it as much as melee classes. melee would see it a lot because they have to be right up next to them while the casters are usually farther away and can almost always see them.

It really all depends for the cost. I have 126cha without magic buffs and the cheapest was only around 8,000. So if you higher you cha a lot you should be able to get a cheaper price.
Lucky SKs and Pallys

These 2 classes are extremely lucky cause they don't have to waste around 100k to buy one, however they still have to wait till 59 or 60 to use their points into getting the horse... either way you'd have to be around 55-60 to get about 100k. Know what i mean? 8P

Cost, care, limitations, benefits, stables, use, moving them from continent to continent??

Not sure why everyone doesnt have one, they seem so cool, so please someone enlighten me.
RE: General info
# Aug 01 2002 at 10:36 PM Rating: Good
hey,

horses can only be bought on luclin, yes. Prices are anywhere from 8k to 125+k plat, depending on your charisma. Getting them from continent to continent is very easy. Though horses dont work in all indoor zones such as nexus or so, meaning you will have to ditch the horse and resummon when you get to the zone you're going to (if it's a legible zone) or get a druid to port ya. They do zone with ya, they are very fast, but rather costly. Dont worry about losing the horse....you dont pay 9k everytime you re-summon it, you get a little whip-thing and its right clickable for a horse summoning (for free after purchase), but as a paly or a sk you get it as an AA at lvl 59 for free. hope this helps......=)

# Apr 23 2002 at 8:29 PM Rating: Decent
I have had trouble finding info but I have heard that they can only be purchased in Luclin and I have had people tell me anywhere from 10k to 75k for starting costs. I am still trying to get more info Myself as I want one.
RE: General info
# Feb 17 2003 at 1:26 AM Rating: Decent
the price variation depends on CHA and the kind of bridle (horses speed). from shadow haven zone in into bazaar, just go left and into the small side room. Maybe the horses will tip you off as to whether youre in the right place or not. the guy standing over by the HUGE black horse sells the cheaper, slower ones. The guy by the brown horse sells the fast, insanely expensive ones.
