I have camped this spawn for over 14 hours and finally the Optimistic spawned! Here is what I did. I killed all 8 Stonegrabber's that can spawn in the 3 camps (1 cycle). I then noticed this pattern in how the names spawn. After 2 cycles of normal Stonegrabbers a Natural Stonegrabber would spawn in the camp by the vendors (northeastern most camp). Then next cycle a Clay Stonegrabber spawn in the southeastern camp. Next cycle a lunar Stonegrabber popped. About 3 cycles, if I remember right a Studded Stonegrabber popped on the northeastern camp. Now I had to wait about 5 more cycles then the above listed pop order started over but instead of the Studded Stonegrabber I got the Optimistic Stonegrabber in the northeastern camp. Good luck everyone because this spawn sucks!

Just when I think there are no other species of grabber out pops another... but still no optimistic I've seen bluesky, natural, steel among others. wonder what all these shiny gems do? some sort of "kill the grabbers" quest?

Camped all 3 camps for 3 hours. Nothing. Hope everyone else is luckier than myself, or has alot of patience for this damn shiny rock.

Spawns at loc 862, -1140. Of the three stonegrabbers here, this is the northeastern one.
Placeholder is 'a stonegrabber’ - and can also spawn as A Hardened Stonegrabber.
There are 8 total stonegrabbers in zone, each on a 13 minute respawn time.

All 3 are close enough together to run back and forth if you have the muscle to take them out.

This is incorrect-- he spawns at 863, -1138, just like it says at the top of the page. I can confirm; I killed him just now.
Took me 4 PHs before he popped.
I just wanted to point out that this zone is a major pain. All the while you are killing the stonegrabbers you will constantly be beset by wolves and lightcrawlers.
A freind (44 mage) and I (38 Shaman) just couldnt handle the constant adds. There was no time to pull stonegrabbers for the wolves and 'crawlers.
I swear I hope to never see this zone again.

Spent a lot of time running between the 3 sets of stonegrabbers that I could find. The first set of 3 is fairly close to the Dawnshroud Sellers camp (located just a bit SE of the zonein from Neth Lair or at #2 on the EQAtlas map), the second set of 3 was a ways south of the first set, and the third set (of 2) was up the dry riverbed from set 2, towards the NW. All spawned standing up near groups of rocks, but they fall over after about 30 seconds, making them a little bit hard to see until you get close. Wolves and lightcrawlers will constantly add in to the battles, even though they are green, so be prepared for them. Regular stonegrabbers seem to be indifferent, whereas the named ones were KOS. I'm still not sure if the named ones always spawn in the same spot, or if you just have to farm them all, but for what its worth, the optimistic stonegrabber spawned for me at:

For the directionally challenged among us, it was in the set of three closest to the Dawnshroud Sellers. Hope this shortens a few camps.

Right at the druid port in spot there are 3 groups of 3. I keep kill one of the groups until the named ones started to show up. Took me about 2 hours to get the hope diamond.

There's like three or four spots for stonegrabbers. All reside near the hopper cave between NL and ME. As you kill them, you'll get different named ones. I'm not sure of the rotation nor the specific location for the various types. Basically slaughter them all till you find the one you want ;-)
Maybe someone else knows the pattern. I think I've seen more non-plain ones by the dry creek bed area. I suspect maybe each spot has its own set of non-plain grabbers

He seems to be standing up, instead of lying down like the rest. Also, he's ready to attack, as opposed to the indifferent of the regular stonegrabbers. Should be easy to spot

from someone who has been hunting for this pile o' rocks, I'd guess you came upon him just after spawning. They all stand around after they spawn. Then in about 15-20 sec, they collapse into their rock pile state. I could be wrong SINCE I AIN'T SEEN HIM YET..but tis a guess.

The hope diamond is also used in Drelynn's Gem Collection quest found in the Plane of Knowledge. This is one of four gems needed to complete the quest resulting in the Fine Antique Veil AC +4 STA +4 +INT +4 CHA +4 HP+10 effect: Improved healing II.
Does he have any PH?
Does he lay around like the regular stonegrabber?
Anybody got his exact spawn point?
As far as i could tell, this guy is a random spawn with all the other stonegrabbers as a PH. If anyone knows how to make him spawn or if he does have a preset time/loc please post it.

The Hope Diamond is a Twighlight Sea quest armor piece - it's used in conjunction with the 'Sun Jewel,' the 'Mark of Desire,' and the 'Tarnished Silver Nugget,' to get the Enchanter Cloak.

Got Hope Diamond last night as well from this mob. It does not show up on the TW quest armor site link. Not sure what its for. Some druid claimed he needed it but I didnt see it on druid quest sheet.
It dropped a Hope Diamond, guessing is for Luclin armor quests. Now, where was that excellent link to those quests again, somewhere in this site :)
