I just tested both Panic Animal and Terrorize Animal on the Dire Sonic Wolves, and it does indeed seem they are immune to those spells at least.

These things took my Beastlord from level 41 to 49 (off and on killing) pretty fast. You really have to stretch 48 out, for there are a bunch of light blues, but it goes by pretty fast, considering how easy these mobs are.

I killed these at the Grimling Forest zone in, so I was also blessed by the occasional visit of the Grimling Runner.

I was collecting acrylia from the grol baku near the grimling forest zoneline when I saw a dire sonic wolf that was very small, smaller than my shaman pet. I killed him out of curiosity and he dropped a shreiking substance and a fruit. never seen a wolf drop a fruit before.

Is this something new? He was hitting about the same as the full sized wolves and had about the same number of hitpoints.

Most likely that wolf had been a pet and then shrunk, and set free when its master left the zone.

These conned anything from blue to yellow to me at 35, but stopped conning yellow at 36.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 19 2002 at 1:57 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) these are good for quad kiting, just round up a few out in front of katta... you know the deal (or you dont, but that means you are either not a druid or are a very bad one) more than 1 blue per quad - good stuff. loot is crap tho.

These babies are great xp for the quading druid!

You can probably start quading them about 40ish and get all the way up to 51. The xp slows down a bit about 48 because some of them start to go light blue. However, once you get to 49 you will get your new lightning blast spell and be able to do 2 quads per mana bar, making it a pretty quick ride to 51 even though they are light blue. This is assuming a Wis of about 180ish.

Only problem is that the loot chews.

I beat up one of these wolves tonight and looted a stackable item called Shrieking Subtance. I thought it might be for one of the trade skills. Does anyone know its use?

one shrieking substance plus wailing substance (from grimy owlbears) makes a humming orb, which is part of the Vah Shir smithing quest for the Humming Luclinite Hammer.

Also, humming orbs are used in making shadowscream armor.

great EXP, me (lv 38 rogue) and my friend (lv 33 clr) took these guys easily. i was getting 1/2 a blue bub per kill. the darkwing bats (no relation to darkwing duck) are also good exp. just watch out for the soldiers they love to root.

thats just my 2CP

You don't need to be a twink... my Mage was soloing these and the bats at 39. Now, at 44, they still turn a blue bub in 3 kills for me. Very nice xp.

#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 05 2002 at 6:25 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I seriously hope English is not your first language. Anyway, the Mage is right. These bats and sonic wolves can be done solo with pet-class characters at 38-39 (not sure of Enchanters, though). Necros and Mages can level easily here near the Katta zone. Solo wanderers are easy to pull there.
