Okay folks, people come here usually to look for locations, Why would you describe how to go there, why don't you just type in /loc and write his location down instead opf putting a vague description on where you think or he might be at? WHY!?! Well, until I find him,...
Because, because, because...

Because descriptions can help you visualize the location, whereas a /loc is just a set of numbers that can be difficult to track down.

Based on the vague descriptions here, I headed towards Cabilis. When I saw the giant Iksar statue, I knew that he should be close, so I started circling it clockwise. Lo and behold, I found him!

With a /loc (which is 4567, -3086, by the way) instead of a vague description, I would have been trying to remember which numbers go up for which direction, constantly stopping to check /loc (because I no longer have it on a hot key, because it's a lot easier to summon corpse to Guild Lobby and get a rez than it is to try to get a cleric to go out into the boondocks), and grumbling about idiots who give a /loc without at least a description of the surroundings.

So here's a slightly more detailed descripton of how to find Trooper Vaurk without having to use the time wasting /loc crutch:

1) Head out from the explorer tower on a north east heading (towards the Cabilis zone line).

2) When you see the giant Iksar statute off in the distance, head towards the west side of the hill that the statute stands upon.

3) When you see the sets of 4 pillars off to the west of the statute, head towards the set that is closest to the hill.

4) Trooper Vaurk's gaurd post is smack dab in the center of that set of 4 pillars.
Shackle Quests

FYI it took me 25 turn-ins of 4 knives (so 100 knives if your math skills are lacking) to go from scowling to dubious with Crusaders of Greenmist, Swift Tails, and Cabilis Residents. Only took me 3 or 4 hours...so this seems to be the easiest way to gain faction for monk Shackle quests if you are human...once you have killed enough Goblins to deal with Vaurk that is (took me about 500 goblins to get dubious to him). Of course now it'll be another 3 or 4 hours of knife turn-ins before I'll have good enough faction to actually do the quests...but still not bad...at least for now I can run around in East Cabilis with no worries of being slaughtered...but beware...you will be KOS in Kelethin, Kaladim, and Firiona Vie by the time you have good enough faction to do quests if you use this method to gain Cabilis faction.

Undercon or what?

There I was walking around Lake of Ill Omen after going exploring the bloodgill area, entering the underwater tunnel which is presumably meant to zone into a non-existent zone, which instead took me to near the Cabilis entrance. Suddenly something's beating on me, Feign Death, my pet is hitting it so I stand up and take a look... hmm, an Iksar guard, blue con to me at 52 so maybe I should give it a go.

Throw on Splurt, Shadow Pact to heal my pet, Bond of Death on the trooper to get back the hit points. Dooming Darkness, Fear... wasn't expecting it to work, and, yes, the trooper is unfearable. So now my pet is down about 20% of its hit points and the iksar is down 5-10% of his. They keep bashing it out, I keep shadow pacting the pet and stealing hit points from the iksar to compensate, recast splurt when it runs out, and finally the trooper dies with my pet at about 15% of his hit points, me about 50% of mine, and maybe 20% mana.

If that guy's a level 40, he sure is one big undercon!

I think the GM's are killing him to prevent people from doing this quest.

Trooper Vaurk quest

I haild him he is neer the Large Iksaur statue on your way to Cabalis, he asked if i was sent by the War Baron to [asist]? The explorers from Feronia Vie draw closer.

I said that i was sent to assist and he replied with:

that is good, i will stay to halt advances. head out near the lake and destroy the tresspassers on ower land. bring me four (4) of there knives that they carry for survival. prove your alegence to the leagon of cabalis.

I was wondering if any one knows what drops thoes knives?

The explorers in the formerly empty tower between cabilis and the lake drop the knives as uncommon drop.

Faction hits for killing them are:

Legion of Cabilis +
Stormguard -
Emerald Warriors -
Firiona Vie -
Pirates of Gunthak +

Handing in 4 knives to the Trooper gives

Legion of Cabilis +
Swift Tails +
Crusaders of Greenmist +
Scaled Mystics +
Cabilis Residents +

ie all Cabilis factions except the necros.

Basically, a 'safer' version of the FoB bone chip quest (as long as you don't mind the FV hits)
