I tried him today, failed, but I know I could have had him. I got him down to 17%.
My mistakes:
#1) Merc didn't have a C and went oom, and C9 would have worked. She CH'd herself at the end instead of me, I was ready to fire her.
#2) I took on a named on the fly. I never raided here, so I didn't know until after I started the fight that he has over 350K hp.
#3) Not having any Quellious poisons, I couldn't divert agro to the merc so that I could use my backstabs. Triple backstab, Blade of Nightmares and Ragebringer.

On the good side, I have 400+ aa's, working on Virulent Venom rk5, to increase poison procs. And with the new poison system, I was hitting for 3002 dmg often, and critting for 6004.

Just don't flame me for not being r33t.

Did it w/ a rog and shammy, highest hit 504 on Rog w/ 2600 AC. Parser show 358k Hp. He is in 3ed floor just before you go to Emp room. Not slowable and Rampages alot. Shammy didn't do any dmg so i cannot tell if Dots would land easy or not.

took this guy last night with a group of 3
necro, cleric and monk.

I found best method was to stay in the hallway with locked doors on either side, and pet pull out. No adds the whole time we were there... although this could be a problem if you had a large raid force.

Well where is this Imperial Guard room at on the third floor????????? There is a locked door at two different areas of this floor that I cant get by but I have been everywhere else and no imperial guards. Is this like CoM and you have to bring a lockpicker class with you??

I go in the right from zone in - up - once up go to the next tube - to get past the locked door - shrink - levi - climb the black obelisk in the corner of the room with the locked door - get above the door - duck and walk down into the crack - tadda - no lock pick needed. Keep going through another door and a few nore mobs to the top of the next tube and you're safe at the top of that tube. Golems from there on but no mobs at the top of that tube.

Great strategie Paupe worked like a charm, although you forgot to mention, there is a trap just beyond the door. It casts Curse of Rhag'Zadune lasts for 1 hour and drains hp's and mana. Being a Beastlord i cant cure it gonna sit it out and see if i can live through it.

Need to have to rogue with ya. No way to get past the last locked door without a lockpicking.

We doing Ssra
# May 29 2003 at 3:33 PM Rating: Default
My guild has been doing Ssra for about a week now. And after reading some of the above posts i have one thing to say. How the heck can it take someone 20 minutes to kill general? we kill him in 2 minutes flat with 30 people, sometimes less. The spawn time in the area he spawns in is approx. 10 minutes total, so you work your way around the room killing. kinda have to work fast because the respawn behind you sometimes begins to catch up if you arnt quick enough.

Ok my guild is elementle one spawn away from time and still takes us 10 min to kill this guy with 30 he has half a million hp. I know this for a fact you taking off that many hp in 2 min is impressive you must be the most ubber guild out there.

# Nov 16 2003 at 12:08 AM Rating: Default
first of all, even with repops they wont add unless u are killing him in the middle of no where. Second of all, 2 mins is hard to believe since he has a ridiculous amount of hps and u say u have only been in ssra for a week now.

That was prePoP. Look at dates. That was a good average time to do him before level 61-65 was an option.
He just doesn't drop the Spell
# Apr 18 2002 at 4:21 PM Rating: Default
He drops the Key Parts for various keys in the Zone. He's a very useful mob and the Spell is just an added bonus *shrugs*

Watcher's and Silent Redemption of Brell have been farming him for a bit for his key parts. Very short sighted of you guys.

Where does this guy spawn? and can he be killed with one group? or needs several groups?

Just took 50 people 20 minutes of whacking on him to drop him. Doubt a group could go it =)
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 24 2002 at 10:21 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) The spells is worthless, just turn into a human and there ya go. wow your liked every then.
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 24 2002 at 7:16 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Your right this spell is just for looks. not worth a raid. But I still want this spell, so I can be a kitty too )....Although I probably would have to wait for it to be sold to me for me toeven get it..NOT EVERY ONE is in a GUILD.
actually this spell would be very useful
# Mar 23 2002 at 11:20 PM Rating: Default
think about it... if vah shir are liked by pretty much everyone and say.. a dark elf enchanter casts this illusion.. then that dark elf should now be liked by pretty much everyone.. a very useful spell

what floor is this general found on ?
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 25 2002 at 12:16 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is truly LAME! that an illusion spell which has so little benefit would be this rediculously hard to get! I thought illusion Iksar was pathetic that it took at least 2 level 30s to do a quest for a level 20 spell but this makes that look like good common snese! I mean come on. The illusion is not that useful since the cat people pretty much like everyone anyway! That means this spell is just for looks! Like anyone is going to raid and that's what it's likely to take to get this a RAID! just to get an illusion spell! VERANT IS RUN BY IDIOTS!

Well, maybe people wouldn't raid Ssra temple JUST to kill the general and get his uber loot. But if you are raiding there you might as well kill him along with the others.
Agreed: If you raid the temple just to get this spell it's not worth the trouble.
Very worrying

As a Vah Shir, I find it troubling that the shissar are walking around with spells like these. Who knows if Shar Vahl is filled with snakepeople in disguise? I will never return home now!

AAAAAARGH! The snakes! They're everywhere, get em off me, get em off me!!
RE: Very worrying
# Mar 25 2002 at 4:23 AM Rating: Default
At least think of it this way... if it drops, it's in the General's inventory. That means he hasn't scribed it (if you assume they would have to go through the same process we would. Suspension of disbelief). I don't know if the Shissar have any enchanters, so they may simply not have the option open for them to use it.

General: "Hey guys, look what I found."
Shissar: "An Illusion spell? So what?"
Assassin: "Hey... gimme that."
Assassin crafts Guise of the Hunter

There... NOW you can be afraid. If you see a cat flicker its tongue... run... backwards.
