Heads up, they lifetap 210 now. was a tap war between me (56 sk) and them and more than one at this level kindda sucks. full buffed 3 of em sucked me down to 10% befor ei got an fd off
Well just a while ago figured that my lvl 51 earth pet would be able to handle these guys, bah, boy was I wrong, thank god I knew the zone to FG so I quick did an ooc to let people know that I had a train to there and zoned out. The mobs followed me all the way up to the ring, and when I zoned back in lol, there was my reception party, a group of maybe 5 or 6 of the shadows. Guess the guards do NOT kill them, and they hang around for a bit. Word to the wise wait a while before you zone back in that is for sure. I made it out again, but just barely. I am a 51 magi. These mobs are VERY social.
As a 55 Wizzie I kited one to the island to the north with the fishermen on wharf. Was very easy as it should be for the level difference (Snare helps a lot, you Mages should stock up on snaring items IMO). I think I got hit, but nothing extreme. He was kind enough to hand me his Groaning Mace upon his flaming death.
Pretty sure he was green to me, I only attacked as I was waiting on some mobs to respawn. Waited until he was far enough away from other mobs to not get them in my AE snare. Was still close to some Lesser and Greater Shadows, but didn't agro, probably due to them being Green though. Simple fight of Snare and Slay, wizzie style.
Sorry I didn't really take note at the time, but from memory, I'd say he had 3500 to 4000 HP. But I have a bad memory ;)
can i solo theses dudes as a 45 ranger thats well equiped for his lvl? he has self buffed ac 857 and hp 1600. Also weilds defiance with lammy (or wurmy) and gets haste from SCHW
ok i was on my way thru twilight earlier today with my 47 druid and saw this on track, and remembering that the groaning mace dropped in this zone i figured i had a good chance of getting one... i found it on the shadow island and pulled it to the island with the inn. i thought i could root/dot it, but found it very hard to keep the thing rooted. had to recast maybe 6 times before i gave up. used drifing death once (650 dmg dot), immolate once (250 dmg dot), and a drones of doom from my ES vams (350 dmg dot), and with maybe 6 roots (100 dmg each) id put his health at about 1900hp. hes not a difficult kill if you know what youre doing.
This guy is the 2nd most common named shadow, the lithe is the most common. All very easy kills for me (40 bard) I just lev over the water and pull them one at a time to the next island and dot kite them. No healing , no medding). I seem to have got every named one to spawn except the one I need for bard quest(
So far all the highest shadows including named ones such as the Groaning Shadow have been light blue to me, a 51 Cavalier. This would tell me that none of the ones I've seen are lvl 40 or probly 39. At least one third of the sea turtles are dark blue to me, which seem to be the highest in that part of the zone. Groaning mace is pretty good, might sell it.

I had a Centi Warhammer, which I donated to a newbie. Next thing I know, I see this big ****** laying on the ground. I picked it up and began /shouting all over the zone, "found Groaning Mace Is it anyones? PST If it is!" No-one sent a tell so I because screaning [real life] because it is a HUGE upgrade to a Centi. Right now my skill is at Below Average on this sucker. I absolutely hate it. Anyone who wants to trade for this SEND A TELL.
Youz got ter watch dis fella, an hiz named frends. Meeza 52 Ogah SK wiv 1900 HP unbuffed, an he sukked me to DEATH at 150 a go, while I wuz swimmin bak to de Castle. Youz only got to have snare/darkness/feer get rezizted a cuppla tymes, an itz adios muchachos...
Killed him tonight. I checked track, spotted him and headed over to the island the shadows are on. He seems to walk up and down the island. When he was at one end, I managed to slip in and target him, and then back off a ways and pull him. So, yes, he can be pulled off the island by himself. Fighting him underwater was a pain, but when he died, he had the mace, couple swirling shadows, and a spiney dirk (which is what it showed him holding, not the mace).
