Him and Maligar both conned low blue. All the mobs around Maligar conned grey. I pulled single Maligar with a chant, then charmed and did turn in. No lull needed and no adds. Popped Infusion and Steadfast Servant just to make sure I wouldn't lose. He likes to cast Screaming Terror a lot. This will stun you, cause the mob to lose aggro and regen to full. Happens a lot with goblins in FM. Thankfully, I resisted everything with Infusion. Did him straight melee. Got annoyed with all his casting so I feared him when he was at 40%. Bard is 2266hp 1086ac 1060atk unbuffed. Never dropped below 80% health.

Using thunderous drums of karana, I laid a melody of 4 dots on him at level 51. I had no buffs and I just kited him with dots. He dropped pretty quick.

Soloed him at 46, Main twink pieces : SBoZ Fungi and CoF. Get some Distillates, get a lot cause it dispells. ended the fight twisting Regen, Haste, Fire DoT. It's a pretty easy fight.

Just Charm it and turn in. it only came with 1 Grey add at 46... killed it, charmed, regen, popped droppleganger, killed.

Oh yeah, dont forget Virtue :D

Forgot the resist song, and the Doppleganger ate my poor 51 bard. Kiting was brilliant idea, with resists i would have owned him. He corpse camps, and was still up 4-5 minutes later when my 70 clr arrived and owned him. Dropped head + Old Used Robe (ERU WIZ only, but worn by a human necro? :P).

ok folks, i may be a lil twinked (but not too much) but i didn't need any help to take down this clown solo at 52. i have been a good girl, so his friends weren't pissed at me. i walked right up to him while singing the level 41 song of mystic shielding (i had selos chorus in effect of course in case the fight went south). my twist included chants of flame, disease, and poison mixed with PoMS. upon the hand in, the doppleganger HT for around 400 i think. by the time he was ready to cast a spell i was out of range (cause foxi is not STUPID). i regrouped as he stood there like an idiot wondering where i was. i came back into range long enough to land the 1st chant. well i nail my selos chorus again and start walking backwards. i can cast while i walk, he cant lol. when he stops i take 2 steps and he cant hit me. then i come back in and lay the chant down on him. i wound up 600hps down from the beginning of the fight and i have no heal song up. i resisted all but 1 throw of venom of the snake. the others bounced off me like a bad check. i felt like a moron for asking for help with this clown. he is easy. just stay back and fight like a bard (with cunning.) muhahahahahaha. 1.) Lull pull the mobs around Maligar.
2.) Kill them. Kill them all.
3.) Charm Maligar. He was KoS to me anyway.
4.) Punch resist song of choice. Elemental Chorus for me.
5.) Hand charmed Maligar the note.
6.) Kill Maligar. I chanted him while twisting resists.

This fight was trivial at 56. Barely even worth the run there. He got 1 silly 400dmg HT on me and 1 boil blood. Whole fight lasted just over 90 seconds as he went down faster than Courtenay Love at a........well anywhere.

mana drain
# Jul 12 2004 at 3:35 PM Rating: Default
I'm going to try this with my 51 bard, assuming I'll have to solo this part of epic. Will post how well it works. Single pull the buddies, pull Maligar, twist mez+mana drain, charm, note, send to attack Doppleganger, when Maliger dies, mez+mana drain on Dopp, kill Dopp. Hope this works--will go in with Resistant Discipline up, Virtue, Fo7, and KEI (for the Int), maybe a Cha buff as well. Wish me luck. =) If anyone has tried this already--post how well it worked.

*edit 7-16-04*
ok couple of tips: make sure you have a brass instrument equipped, you can play the mana drain song without it, but it won't work as well (forgot I left mine in the bank), when you twist in Denon's Dissention (mana drain) you have to be standing right on top of him. anyway it seemed to be working well but I had a couple of people who came out to help me and I didn't want to keep them there all night while I drained him--did it til we were all at FM and FH then we just Melee'd nuked him. For a caster, he hits pretty hard, around a 100 per hit and hits quickly.

Oh Maligar despawns, or rather turns into the dopp as soon as you give him the note so be ready to target Dopp and remez or fight. You'll be close to the NK zone so head straight there and SK with your head for the turn in.

Maligar is along the North wall of WK a little East of center (maybe 2/3 across the zone). Hope this helps for those of you who get lost by /loc.

Good luck now I'm off to kill 5 dragons, Phinny, A Drolvorg or two, and hopefully get some serious help on PoFear. lol

Max hit, 97
Charmable? Yes
Mezzable, yep..
I'd also assume rootable, snareable and slowable.
Shadowknight mob, HT for 400, he cast Root, Chilling Embrace and Dooming Darkness, or one of the Darkness line spells. None landed, his resists are extremly low, you could find low-level 40s PoP mobs with higher resists than him.

When you turn in the note from Braenar, he will instantly depop, and the version of him that must be killed will pop in his place and attack you. In other words, just chant it down if you are in your high 40s/low 50s =]. He didn't blind at all.

Edit: Other than the head, he dropped a "Old Used Robe*" with these stats:
Lore
AC:2
Class:Wiz (He is a SK wearing a robe, though =/)
Race: Eru
Weight: .7

My first look at this camp ended with the entire camp aggroing on me and my running away at top speed.

In round 2 I approached from the South East and got Charismatic Claion on one of the out lying camp members. That turned the camp from Threatening to Dubious. Then I lulled everyone and approached Maligar. At this point I raised Magic Shield. I have an almost complete set of Gothic Armor, each piece has +6 magic save, so I was 140 vs Magic at this time.

Handed in note, spawned the Doppleganger, ran East to pull out of camp. Got hit with some nasty DOT's and almost died 3 times as I pulled him further away and healed between bouts.

Zoned to ditch aggro. Came back and inched up to Doppleganger until I got mez on him. Then swaped mez and mana drain for about 5 minutes. He broke several times but I remezzed quickly. Hoping that he was pretty low on mana I started in with Chants and magic shield and eventually he dropped.

Killed me once, and was at 7% twice from DOT's. All in all quite a fight for a solo 42!
Soloable in the low 40s

I was able to solo Maligar's Enraged Doppelganger in my low 40s bard by running just into range, landing a dot, and running back out of range before his spell had a chance to land. I pulled his friends first and killed them, then charmed Maligar, handed him the note, and began this game of tag. He did manage to land a few dots on me, and one fear.
Easy

I am a level 50 Bard on Antonius Bayle Server and today I managed to easily solo this guy.

This is how I did it:

I approached the camp and everyone including Maligar conned "threateningly". So i used Carismatic Carillion on one of his friends. It didnt help, he came running trying to get me. Not a real problem with Selos Accelerating Chorus it was easy enough to outrun that guy. I had all 4 Tuyens Chants memorized and used them on him which killed within 30 seconds or so.

After that i approached the camp again and charmed Maligar. I pulled him away from the camp and charm didnt break (i used lvl 39 charm song). Then I gave him the note and Maligars Doppelganger spawned. I fired up Elemental Rhythms and whenever he tried to cast anything on me it didnt hurt. So I twisted 4 Tuyens Chants and he dropped in less than 2 minutes. Since I didnt twist elemental rhythms while DoT'ing him, he HTed me one time doin 250 damage. He never hit or punched me since i always had Selos Accelerating Chorus up. The only thing he did was a poison or disease DoT and that brought me down to about 2 red bubbles when he died.

Slot1: Tuyens Chant of Poison
Slot2: - " - Fire
Slot3: - " - Frost
Slot4: - " - Disease
Slot5: Selos Accelerating Chorus
Slot6: Solons Bewitching Bravura
Slot7: Elemental Rhythms
Slot8: Hymn of Restoration

Equipped with Walrus Skin Drum and Singing Steel Boots for the nice levitation Effect. The Chants do 59 damage each which totals 236 when twisting all 4.

He dropped the head and a robe.

Easy Way to kill this guy :)

Started solo, ended Duoing with BST

Breaking the camp was easy for a 46 Bard. Lament-pulled (Bard lull) each NPC and their pet, charmed the NPC onto their pet then chant kited the NPC.

Maligar was a problem. Even through he conned indifferent, I Charmed anyway to hand in the note. He broke it way early and proceed to Root, Fear and double DoT me. Multiple times. Made it to NK with about 10 hit points left :)

Was going to try again twisting two MR resist songs, but my friend, a 46 Beastlord, offered to toss his pet at the Doppleganger. So we did.

1) Started both MR songs (after the BST MR buff), got to about 160.
2) Handed in the note
3) Hit autorun
4) Hit "Give"
5) Asked the BST to send the pet in.

Then we watched while I twisted and the BST healed the pet. Even though the pet is low 30s at this point in a BSTs career (next one at 49), it's a tough bugger. The Doppleganger tossed a bunch of things at us, but the MR resists were sufficient to minimize them.

The fight took about 4 minutes. The camp itself is on a 15 to 20 minute respawn though (as compared to Maligar's 30 minutes), as it spawned during the fight. Easy to mezz them and charm one for the extra damage, though I missed a few MR twists getting us DoTed accordingly.

As mentioned, it also drops a "An Old Used Robe". I think it dropped a Brass Ring too, or something equivalently vendor trashable.
Solo'd em easy

This guy was cake for a 56 bard with decent equipment to solo. Just walked over to his camp and pulled his lackies individualy a beat em to death w/o singing a note. Then I charmed Maligar and gave him the note. He immediatly despawned and his Doppleganger spawned instantly. I immediatly started up with snare song, fear song, and finally haste and began to melee. In the process I slipped up and got DoTed and nuked for about 400, but all in all fight took about 3 minutes and I lost around a bub and a half of health total after DoT wore off.

I was able to solo Maligar as well at 59. I pulled the others in the camp one by one and chanted them to death, then was able to fear-kite Maligar. He seemed to be pretty resistant to magic, resisting fear and snare about 1/4 to 1/3 of the time. The hardest thing about him was the harm touch, but it was a pretty easy fight.

I must suck then, cause I'm 54, my gear sucks though. The guy was freaking annoying, lways resisitng fear, and when I tried to chant kite him, I got him down pretty far, but he slowed and doted me like mad, and he starting beating on me, I got him down to about a bub of health, charmed and I ran like a little girl, healed up because of the dots, and tried several times befoer I had to get off =( All in all, died once and have a camped toon with two dots and two bubs of health left...
Doppelganger is easy even below 50

We killed him for my bard friend. We had five people, three of which were druids (51, 43, 39), a 47 monk and a 44 bard. Monk pulled one of the green mobs, but we were too close to Maligar and he started helping in the fight. The bard charmed him, gave him the note, he poofed and the Enraged Doppelganger appeared in his place. He was an easy fight. He did get some nasty dots on the bard and the monk, but nothing that the druids couldn't heal. In the end the druids also just nuked him down. All the buffing we did was Protection of Nature and Magic Resists. No one got blinded, I think the monk got feared once. All in all, very easy fight. And yes, besides the head he also drops that robe that is AC 2 and wiz/eru only. *shrugs*
Robe???

I took this guy out today and he dropped the head and an Old Used Robe. Ac 2 Edudite Wizard only, lore item. Anyone know what this is used for?

Took some guildies of mine to visit Maligar the other night. 52 bard, 52 rogue, 54 shaman, 54 cleric, and a sub 52 druid. Maligar and his friends were all indifferent to me (human agnostic bard). I walked up to Maligar, gave him the note, and he despawned and the Doppleganger spawned in his place. He immediately HT'ed me in the 400 range, but that was pretty much the extent of the damage he did to me. The others stayed put and the doppleganger was easy enough to pull. He had landed several dots on me by the time I got back to my group, so the cleric had to cast a celestial heal on me. That was also the only time a healing spell got cast.

The druid had ensnared him and dotted him while I pulled him. By the time he made it to my group, he was already at half health. The rogue and I quickly finished him off in less than 18 seconds, as I was unable to finish my third song twist before he keeled over.

I helped a bard taking this one out a few weeks ago on lanys. In our group there was the bard(43), Cleric(high 40) wizard(also high 40), and lil'me, 36 wiz.
The way we did it was , Cleric buff up MR, HP, etc, Bard goes to pull Mailgar down from the hill and onto the plains, We stripped him of his buffs, bard song the songs and wizzies nuked away. he dropped quickly.
tried to HT and fear us, but thanks to the MR Buff, all got resisted. Bard only lost a few Hp when triggering the spawn.. fun one

Took him down just a couple days ago. It ended up being about a 20 second fight because I gathered up the higher level characters in my guild, so we had about 3 groups of mid-50s with me, a then 40 bard, thrown in the mix. Strangely enough, the doppleganger looks exactly like Maligar--a human with a beard in a red robe. He did not cast blind, but he did fear. With buffs and MR song running his two attempts were resisted, but it's just an FYI. A hint: take out Maligar's buddies before giving him the note if you're gonna take him on with only one group. Granted, they're not difficult mobs, but having another 3 or 4 baddies beating on you is irritating at worst.

Soloed this guy at lvl 51, played lvl 9 song elemental Rhythms and my 2 Chant songs. I took less than 1 bub of damage against the doppleganger. I cleared all the other mobs before giving Maligar the note. I tried this also with out the lvl 9 Elemental Rhythms and the doppleganger hit me several times with a 400 pt zap. I zoned and came back with a different plan then he was easy.
