Lol, just joining a guild and they decided to kill Greig today, Was a really fun raid to get there and start trying to kill him. Unfortunatly we lacked the people(30 peeps, av 59) and died. Hes got a wierd aggro, I ended up being summoned to right underneath him, I FD'd and after a while, when I stood up and ran to the door, only the guards aggroed on me. Watch out for him, and yes the pic at the top is him.

Dropped this guy again tonight no worries.No rod support just a bard and 5 clerics so I guess the nerf coming up wont be too big a problem with him at least.Anyway he did not drop a corpse.Noone got the exp and noone ever saw his corpse hit the ground.We did all get faction hits.Noone else was in zone.No GM response and no loot.Ahh well.Maybe it fell outside the world but we couldn't find or target it.
You have to be carefuly when you kill him, once you kill the ugly, a human version of grieg spawns with about 5 hps, you must make sure you pull this one out so he doesn't fall into the wall, the ugly DOESN'T drop loot, only the 2nd Human form

Hey, we are an up and coming guild on the Karana server, and we are taking mobs like Vindi,gozz,telko.velks,iki,EoS etc etc mobs on that statue very easly, we did try Grieg today and failed unfortunatly, we had no idea how hard his AE really was, we did put the MT in the corner at the bottom of the stairs but what w didn't do is have the meele and healers in the right place, so we could not get close to him at all, we lasted awhile but died in the end and got totally wiped out. so we all had to get summoned no biggy. But what i can say is from what amount of people that did manage to hit him, he is easy to slow and has very low hp's just his ae is a *****. so no way he has 800k hp's like someone said, people that pot crap just put people off going for him. his guards are harder than him just his ae makes him hella hard. will be trying some of the strats posted on here next time we try him hope they work. Thanks.
Seems things have changed in this zone as of late. Was in here with my monk last night in a single group killing mobs in the first courtyard. First time in here with my monk and I was pulling and learning as I went. Cleared most of zone with my guild but took my rogue on that raid so wasnt aware of the spawn locations. The door to Greig's room was unlocked. Up on top of a pedestal was one of the Occious (whatever's)that would not agro me. I hit it with a Shuriken to pull it and he just sat there looking at me. Immediately upon hitting it Grieg popped next to him on the pedestal. He apperaed as a large human, and as most know every mob in this zone appears differently to everyone, so the screenshot above is just one persons view of what he looks like.
Grieg conned indif. When targeted he immediately wiped my target. I could not target him more than one second. By continuously targeting/hailing I was able to hail him with no response. He let us dot and kill the Occious (spelling??) without agroing us. He also conned up to kos to some in our group.
Any idea if this is an illusion of him? Any other info on this ordeal would be appreciated.

There is one unlocked room I have seen where there is indeed a "vision" of Greig V. himself, however it is just that. A vision.
Unless I am mistaken (always possible with gnomez), to gain access to the real Greig requires the use of a no-rent key. I think it is the same key that is used to access the Servitor of Luclin.

Was just an illusion, you were nowhere close to his true room/form. I've wiped there before too, griegs is quite fun and dangerous.

Grieg is a pretty tough guy if you don't fight him correctly. He has a 600dmg knockback stun which can become quit annoying. Not sure what he melee's for.. but I think it's 300's to 500's.. maybe even weaker.
Trick is.. the room where you zone into is the safe room.. more or less. He's up top a set of stairs.. puller will drag him down the stairs to the first set.. melee will engage him there. All healers and casters stay in the room below. The AE can be avoided.. but sometimes it will still get you if behind the door or a wall. If done right it's not a bad fight. Hope some of this info helps ya.

We use basically the same strategy, but fight him in a different location. Has worked well for us every time. Everyone except the MT stands flush against the far-end walls aligning the steps so that they don't catch agro when the puller brings him downstairs. Puller brings him right to the MT whom is at the bottom the last set of stairs and at the door. That's where we keep the Grieg engaged onto our MT at the inside/left corner at the very bottom next to that door, We send in our melees 6-10 at a time in waves every 2 minutes or so, then have one wave back out for heals while the next wave goes in. Our dot-casters and nukers hit the Grieg in between the AE's the best they can time it. I think every type of spell (cold/fire/magic/poison/disease) lands on this guy, but not sure.
A fun fight. Not very difficult - more about using sound tactics and having patience - plus lots of healing =p

Most believe that they are up in the Plane of Sky now with Vulak`Aerr in a Ring of Fire/Slime type quest. Course that is also unconfirmed because the quest is broken from my understanding. Granted this is just what I've heard.. but it's better than no explanation at all! ;)

Yes you need a key to get to grieg's area. One key can get everyone there. Prast Ianitor drops it. We pull his guards which are on a 6 minute timer I believe, then pull out grieg, and have him face the corner down the first set of steps, with mt running backwards. His knockback does 600 dd, and is highly annoying, it actually pulls you towards him. Clerics/casters are hidden at the end of the stairs where the door is to avoid ae. Rather easy to slow, his melee damage is a joke, I'd estimate 150-200k hp the damn ae's are what is annyoing. Picture 30 tanks all snared trying to crawl back into position and stuck together =P One warning, do not kill him in the wall, pull him out when he is at 5%, or he will fall thru the world and you'll get no loot =(

if it has a knockback part in it. you get get tossed in the direction the mob causeing it is facting. and since he was facing the corner .. u were most likely behind him, pulling you towards him, if he had been facing you, u´d have been tossed away from him.

I'll have to send my pic of Grieg in again... cuz that pic above is not his true form. He's really this big purple guy with a tail. Looks quite intimidating if you ask me. Illia will hopefully switch the pics.
As for taking him down... a good 40 to 50 people at least. It's the AE knockback that gets you the most... so you can't fight him where he spawns... have to pull him down into the room at the bottom of the stairs so you can hide from it behind walls and in corners.

Well actually, a little while before luclin came out, there was a GM event on all servers involving al'kabor and the spires in DL and stuff like that, anyway necklaces with right click effect nexxus gate went to the chosen ones.
And also there are some boots that you can get by doing the CT gnome quest that have nexxus gate.

Aye, but this effect is "triggered" instead of a "random" proc from the weapon like the OT Sledge. Which means you can leave it equipped without fearing it's going to port you back someplace mid fight.
I like the fact that you don't have to get in some silly fights like my ogre does to get it to proc....But I don't like that it's reserved for those certain classes. It's a ***** to even get that far in, nevermind fighting Grieg. /em *Shrug* Guess my tank will be seen most nights waiting on a spire port or begging for a TL to bind....*laughing*

As a ranger I have two other options, I can get Tolans BP, or make thurgadin gate potions. Both port me, but potions have to be remade.
