In Low Level Zones:

Warrior.

Spectres hit for a maximum of 96, and tend to attack rather quickly. They move somewhat slowly, and can be outrun even without speed-enhancing spells.

They have relatively few hp for their level, which is offset by their high damage output. Their two special attacks of a stun spell and a lifetap spell also help their damage output.

In Laurion Inn:

  • Type: Undead
  • This mob spawns at the undead ruins in the north part of the zone.
  • Mob sees through invisibility: Yes

I'm "starting over" on a new progression server and I remembered specs as a decent mob for cash item drops (gems, scythes, etc). I have a 29 Necro (untwinked since it's a new server) and I find that these guys are still easy to kill in SRo. Simply cast Rest the Dead on nearby specs, pet pull or cast any a Clinging/Dooming spell on whatever spec you are aiming for, hit it with Boil Blood, and simply walk around the island as your pet whacks it from behind. If you use Dooming Darkness and Boiling Blood, you should be able to keep agro (so long as you don't run too far away) so that your pet can do its busines from the back (just make sure you turn taunt off). These things are level 33-37 and I have hardly had a spell be resisted. Specs will give you decent exp up to 40 or so. Also, they aren't very fast so you don't necessarily need SoW to kite them. Good luck!
Solo at 37 Cleric

I have yet to be able to single pull these.. I can usually get just 2 if I calm the nearby ones I can see. I am levitated, of course, and pull them both to the nearest shore (usually to the east). Then I fear one, melee the other to get separation, then fear the second. I follow the second, blasting it with undead nukes. Managed to kill 2 at a time this way, including an even con. I gave up on root/nuke because roots don't hold well.

To single pull these guys, bind your soul by the merchants south of the oasis, swim cross to the south side of the island, nuke the closest spectre, then gate. These will pull 2 but they will not follow your gate. Now run back to the south sore of the oasis, as soon as a spectre comes into sight he will swim across the water to attack you. This give you time to cast frenzied strength and a nuke. As long as you approach the oasis on an angle so that only one specrte is in sight you will get a single pull. If you get two, you have time to run to the southern zone line and fight there in case you need to zone quickly.
can i solo them

I am a lvl 42 warrior is it possible that i can solo them with no problem
RE: can i solo them
# Sep 06 2004 at 9:23 AM Rating: Decent
At 42? Highly doubtful that you will be able to solo them. You can always try though. No point in letting everyone else tell you what you can or can't do. Worst that happens is you die. Not really a big deal.
Help!

I was hunting the spectres in Oasis at 40, well trying to hunt moreso. I always get atlaest an add even though I undead pacify all four that are visible. Are there more in the tower or what? The add makes the kills very difficult with my all undead spell list up. Thanks for the help.
RE: Help!
# Apr 14 2004 at 6:29 AM Rating: Decent
There are 8 specs on the island. 4 outside, 3 on upper level of the tower, 1 on lower level of the tower. Just aggro one in the corner of the island and run straight away from it. You will most likely loose the adds.

i've heard an enchanter can solo the spectres at lvl 24 in oasis what do you think
RE: questionable
# May 14 2004 at 8:52 PM Rating: Decent
I think no. Spectres would be 9-13 levels higher, therefore the chanter wouldn't be able to touch them with spells, even with Tash.

The spectres in Oasis have approx. 1600 hps, so I would assume that the spectres in other zones have about the same as well.

As a solo high 30 to mid 40s pally, the spectres in Oasis are great. Just Soothe the spectres nearest the one you are pulling, and most of the time you will get a single pull. Extras can be rooted or feared, and if you do get to many, the zone is a short run away. I pulled them to the shore so I could fear kite them, they will run around the shoreline a bit slower than you can run.

About how many hit points would you estimate each of them has, particularly the Specs in Oasis?

Easy kills
# May 21 2003 at 6:58 AM Rating: Default
These are some of the easiest kills I can find for a shaman, and a good place to demonstrate how useful DoT's are. At 36 I pair scourge and envenomed breath on them, using instill to hold them down. They're slow enough that SoW will keep you well ahead of them, I have never taken even one hit from a spectre, and if I ever do I can only blame lag, cause even swimming I can outrun them :)
Bards and Specs

I was kiting the Spectres in Oasis of Marr last night with my lvl 39 bard. I was killing them faster than the lvl 45 druid who took my camp all you have to do is pull them charm one and make it attack, wait till its low on health then hide. This will take off the charm effect and allow you to kite the spectres the rest of the way ,I usualy wait till below one bubble of health. Please note that I was doing this with the level 39 charm and I am not sure as to the effectiveness of the level 27 charm. Also to those of you who do not know the level 39 bard charm takes mana so you may want to get a kei etc. trust my it helps. And if the loot is not satisfactory simply kill a sandgiant. Finnaly I would suggest watching out for Arthikus or something simaler to that while he does hit hard he is extremely, easy simply charm him and make him kill his pet then start a mezmerization song targeting him when it is almost done hit him with the hide and he is mezzed before he can harm touch you, then simply play the fear song snare him and hit him to take the mez off and keep twisting fear and snare and fear kite him without getting a scratch or if your trying not to use mana simply mez him and kill his pet then do the aforementioned fear kiting. I would do this immediatly when he spawns since it seemed that he added with the spectres. And as a finaly note do not get near to the deepwater goblins when pulling the spectres i got nuked out of my mind and it was quite an annoying deed to retrieve my corpse from their underwater tower.

Elro lvl 39 Bard
Edien lvl 31 Enchanter
and more charecters than i feel like listing
RE: Bards and Specs
# May 26 2003 at 5:04 AM Rating: Decent
How would the loot not be satisfactory? A scythe sells for 13pp, a bronze scythe for 3 pp. Add the coins plus the usual runes and words, and you are rich in no time. Not to mention that XP at level 38 is incredible.

Charming is cool, but need not necessarily be done. Just train and DoT (Fulfil & Flame) one after the other...

Be careful not to train the spectres to any low levels... You might cause a stream of not so nice /ooc messages :-))
Easy Solo In Ferrot

At Neg 1217 Pos 2722 (Near the Fear entance) there is a single specter that spawns rather quiclky and alone. As a 44 cleric with my Ragent Symbol Of Innoruuk and 220(No Kei) it was soooo simple to kill this one... Root, Snare, Dot, Banish 3 times... dead..These ones don't hit very hard at all and with temprance I hardly feel it. and its lifetap is just plane FUNNY... 35hp Pfft! like I even feel that or it helps the specter! you might come times get adds.. I think at one point I was doing 3 at one time.

Take um at 40
# Apr 20 2003 at 11:05 AM Rating: Decent
Hit oasis at about 40 if u be a pally... bring along a shammy or druid for sow, levi, slow, and other buffs... just go outa their range and sooth all that u see and use stun pull... root park adds then let the shammy/druid go to work on um' while u slice 'n dice. Great exp and hardly ever camped. They r on a 15 minute spawn time but by the time u wipe out the camp theres barely any wait.

As a cleric I have been soloing these since like 29 or 34. My undead dd has never been resisted (even when they were reds). Started out on Feerott specs and could handle a 2 pull but had to zone if I got 3. Oasis specs are even easier because they don't ht at all, but then you need a lev to get out there which clerics don't get. So I use lev potion. Costs 15p per cast and last usually for 2 pulls of 3-4. Since I got L44 banish undead I can kill the oasis specs in 3 casts. The feerott specs sometimes have a sliver of health after 3 casts. At 45 they are all still dark blue.
Quading Specs
# Feb 28 2003 at 4:33 AM Rating: Decent
Just a note to wizards thinking about quading these. I strongly recomend paying the 100pp or whatever it costs to get C3 these days on your server. I useally make 600pp in the length of time it takes my KEI to die just quading these things all around the place. I dont recomend doing this untill you have your Circle of Force spell up. Jboots and SoW are not needed since they move extremely slow when snared. The exp is great even still at 43. I dont think I will be leaving here till 46. The money and exp is great and hell even if the exp wasn't great my *** is going to be here camping for loot because I make more money here than I do camping the now nerfed HG and the way overcamped guards of Paineel.

Hey, all.

Could a lvl 30 shaman and lvl 32/33 pally take these guys at all? Or should we wait a few more levels?

Thanks

In OOT you should be ok, there are only 4 of them there in a fixed spot. With a Paly you should be alright though. Myself, a lvl 33 mage, and my lvl 29 pet had a bit of trouble though. Lifetap hit me for 35 a round (in OOT when all 4 attack it adds up quick). They were slow like it says but have a long range on their lifetap spell. At lvl 33, 2 of them con red to me and 2 of them con yellow to me. They did not aggro me, I walked right up to them, only get mad when you attack one of them.

Hope the info help!!!

Cool. Thanks for the info. Maybe we'll head over to OOT. We are currently in Mistmoore, but it's a pain because all the greens aggro.
