Heh killed on Zeb also, on Sep 26th, must be popping alot =P

Anyway, did him with just 60 ranger, 46 mage and 53 chanter - actually him and 3 adds. got kinda dicey for a while, but ranger had good aggro and was able to snare-kite till we got all mezzed, rooted, or charmed.

fun 10min fight, has helluv HP, dropped gloves went to an alt P

Btw, popped right to right of AR, was roaming around there

Me and a group of friends killed this guy on Zeb here yesterday, I'd been looking for this guy for quite sometime and when I saw him up I couldn't believe it. I Can't really say how many people it took to take him down since when I pulled him to DSP zone ent another group took out the adds for us but as far as actually dmg dealing to the wurm it was a chanter sending mezzed critters against him and a 56 and 57 druid doting him when he tuned to run a few melee joined in to finish him off over all he was pretty easy for a lvl 60 mob
he dropped the Ring which we passed and let the melee that helped us kill him roll on but unfortunatly some jerk came and looted the ring before everyone could roll still was a fun fight :)

Spawn time and PH
# Jun 24 2002 at 5:20 AM Rating: Excellent
I'm gona spill the beans on this after holding out for around 6 months of knowing cause it's a pain. spawn time is 5 hour 40 mins plus or minus up to 20 mins every time. The PH is the "mind burrower" that wanders the zone. It is NOT a triggered mind burrower, it wanders and does not despawn. there is only 1 such PH. The Tought Stealer, from what I found, spawn about 1 in 4 PH times. Never met anyone else who knows this, but honestly, any good ranger or druid who spent more than 20 hours here (I was personally well over 150) would see this. So this is more or less useless info given the pain of camping it. Drops I've got so far are 2 rings and nothing once.
PH name?
# Oct 30 2002 at 1:18 PM Rating: Decent
Is the PH called "mind burrower" instead of the common triggered "a mind burrower". Or did you forget to add the 'a'? Meaning you could track and kill the PH by finding the "mind burrower" in the tracking list.

the ph is also "a mind burrower"

1 group of 4 guildmates and I downed this. 59 druid, 54 warrior, 50 wizard, 55 paladin, and 53 shaman (me). The melee types were saying that it was hard to hit most of the time, but it is quite easy if your puller is a druid/ranger who can build up some nice aggro. Bakkin, our druid, kited this around for a bit before we all got together and it never turned and hit anyone except him for the whole entire fight. Malosi was only resisted twice the entire fight and everything else such as slows, cripple, Ebolt landed no problem. Wizard was saying that Magic based DD's were hitting him the best, and he wasn't haveing much problem landing anything. Basically cast Alacrity and Dex on the tanks, called up pet, then Malosi, Turgurs, Cripple, and then just let the tanks and wizard wail away on it. Applied the debuffs once during the fight, so it took no more than 5-6 minutes. It does not summon, cast or anything else. Just pure melee from it.
HP???

How much HP do these things have? Also, are these things spawned by triggered effects like the mind burrowers, or is it a rare spawn? Any info would be Helpful, thanks

Just soloed this guy the other morning on E-Marr as soon as servers came up. First pull was going fine until the rubber neckers come by to watch and you eventually get aggroed by there yard trash that followed them. Zone come back in wait for the pickup group to quit trying and zone. Repulled same thing happened again zone rinse repeat. Third time i pulled and they finally gave up and just let me kill it. Epic, NW Bracer for Drones, Warden symbol for root and an occasional Winged Death and about 35 minutes later dropped the gloves sigh.......

He is not that bad

I was in a group that dropped this guy tonight in front of teh Akehva entrace.

56 Wizard
53 Ranger (me)
60 Druid
53 Warrior
56 Mage
54 Mage

We had this big ugly **** another RTM **** mind burower and an ET Toilet. ;)

The 60 Druid kited him till we offed the other two. Well by teh time we got to this guys teh Druid had built more than enough agro so that we could revese kite it to it's doom. All in all he is not that bad if you have player that know their class.

I ended up with the Thorn Ring of the Seer. Was able to replace me 6ac 65hp ring with it. Not a bad loot for about 40min work.

Anonymous is a nice name for someone with such strong thoughts. I am a lvl 60 druid, i solo this mob every chance i have had. For me to do this i most be kiting him.....correct? If you knew what you were talking about you would know that NOTHING in maidens eye summons. Meaningin everything is kiteable. Go back to KC and stay off the boards till you know what your talking about.

Almost ideal circumstances today. Only about 5 in the zone when this guy popped.

Pulled it to DP zone but got an add (a bat). Didn't want to zone as someone else might take the mob so I was stuck with these two guys.

On its own the worm would be very easy, it just has lots of hit points and resists about 40-50% of roots (at level 60). With the bat add, it was a little tougher as there was not much chance to med.

Nonetheless, I killed the ******* after about 30 minutes.

Thank god that no one trained me :)
Lovely drops from an ugly worm

Aloha and well met ~

I recently returned to the land of Norrath after a 3 month AFk, and I resumed my hunting where I had left off: Maiden's Eye.

Struggling through Level 54 and the all-too-frequent trains, I often serched the track in search of more exciting beasts to hunt to spice up the slow leveling process. After a total of about 26 hours in zone, alas, a strange beast popped on trck that I was not familiar with ~ the famed "a thought stealer" As I traditionally hunt in a fear kite group close to the DSP zone edge, and ranger tracking is currently maxed giving me a range of 3500 grid lines, I can only surmise that he spawns once in a 24 hour perdiod, or tht he normally spawns at a distance greater than 3500 radius from the DSP zone (perhaps towards the UP Zone line) But I wander from the tale ...

Forewarning my group as head puller that I was NOT bringing another tolier, but something special. Little did our pickup group know the battle that was to come. At this point, I should outline the composition of our group:

54 ranger, 54 bard, 51 warrior, 53 druid, 52 rouge, & 51 mage. Please note that the group was designed for snare fear kiting lower level mobs in zone, with a druid as the primary healer.

Well, to prevent the post from exceeding post length limitations, suffice to say that after the ranger nearly died while landing the snare on the mob (fourth attempt) and failing badly in aggro kiting across the front of the DSP door area, the young mage was able to land a debuff on him and ranger rooted. Then it became a battle of will and mana. Casters huddled closely to the bard, ranger rooting, mage nuking, the druid applying those powerful DOTs, and the melee class expending all range ammunition they could scrounge. The battle raged for a good 30 minutes between the lowbies and the lumbering level 60 worm. Melee class would go in from time to time to attempt to apply damage (warrior and rouge) and several nice backstabs were laned, but without a dedicated cleric to CH the MA, this option quickly fades with the health bar of the tank and the mana of the druid healer. The great beast coughed up a ring of great power, but sadly my dice were not during the rolling for the ring. I have since thrown them out.

Lessons Learned:
1. Mob has an infrequent spawn time, perhaps on the order of 1 per 24 hours, and spawns away from the DSP zone.
2. Although a pickup group, with the levels you might normally find available at the door, can kite this mob, tactics have to be quickly deterimined and ruthlessly exectuted.
3. Without a dedicated cleric-MA relationship with heightened mana, the average pickup group will not be able to "tank" the mob.
4. If tanking Slow is an imperative (a given)
5. Regardless of whom is fighting themob, it is gaurnteed to draw a crowd. (Perhaps people hoping that we all go LD and they land the killing blow to snatch the "phat lewt") of the 35 people in zone, 29 were watching us. The 6 man group at Akehava was not interested apparantly.

I hope this posting of our tale will help fellow hunters of this great worm of destruction.

Can be solo'd, here's how
# Mar 23 2002 at 4:30 AM Rating: Good
This chump is easy for a level 60 druid to solo. Having killed it 8 times so far, I've come up with a good way of killing it. Here's how:

1) Pull the thought stealer to a safe part of the zone (I find near Akheva Ruins to be pretty good)

2) Ensnare the thought stealer (duh)

3) Find a spectral wolf and charm it with Call of Karana (feel free to put a leesh on it, ie snare it).

4) Get pet back to same area as Thought Stealer. Have it /pet guard here and kite the thought stealer away from it.

5) Soon as the thought stealer is far enough away, buff your new pet with Savage Spirit and, if you feel like it, a damage shield.

6) Send in your new best friend to attack a thought stealer. Kite it around till you can land epic snare on it.

7) If you have ES Vambraces or Velious Bracer, use it to dot so you can keep agro better.

8) Repeat 6 and 7 at every chance, even if you just cast it. Keeping agro is important.

9) Should your pet get agro, invis to break charm and recharm your pet. Why? Because the hate list is cleared everytime the pet breaks charm, so he has to start all over to regain taunt.

10) Keep doing all the above till the thought stealer drops. As an extra option, feel free to put Winged Death on it, but save 30m to 40m for charms and recharms.

Basicly, you want the pet (which doubles for 145 and kicks for 50+) to bite at it while you kite it around. At first, the pet gains agro alot, but as you break charm and reapply it, all the damage your pet did gets applied to your hate list (ie, mob hates you for what your charmed friend did). The longer the fight goes on, the harder it is for your pet to gain agro, especially when your putting wrath of nature and drones of doom on it repeatedly. This takes 10 to 15 minutes, but is very mana effiecent compared to trying to keep it rooted (you will go OOM if you try). The hardest part to doing this is pulling the thought stealer without bringing adds. If you get adds, just snare the thought stealer and zone. It won't get far, but the other mobs will wander away leaving it alone for you to take again when you come back in.

Edit: For those who are wondering, 5 rings, 3 gloves, no earrings. Quite a few happy tanks out there with thorn rings along with a happy druid and beastlord running around with new gloves.

Not sure if it works for the charmed mobs, but try /pet taunt off. Should hope your DoT has enough aggro to hold off from pet if you have it not taunting (but I am not sure how weak your DoTs are.) ;)

Wondering if a lvl 56 magi, 51 cleric, 53 Wiz, 50 Bard, 53 Ranger and a 50+ warior could take this down?

Group was 54 druid 52 cleric (me) 52 war 51 monk 50 war (me) 50 cleric and 40 enchanter (outside group fer buffs) Max melee dmg for me was 192 was not main tank only got hit a few times. Generally it spawns when you walk over top of where it is hiding in the ground, sometimes they are wandering the surface though. Just be on the lookout for these guys they are rough.

I think the mobs you walk over are in the general area ( not right in front but out a bit and towards umbral) of the Akheva zone.

Not a ground spawn. The place holder is a roaming burrower thats up around every 6 or so hours. He paths between Akheva and UP zones. If you sit on the safe hillside by akheva you'll see him path by if you clipping plan is turned all the way up. Not hard to see, you'll be like, wtf is that when a blackish liking blob moves around in the distance.

He's not worth camping by himself, but if you want to try I would suggest sitting next to akheva on the long hillside and work on killing the 2 goranga scouts that spawn at the rock while you wait. One scout is a PH for the battle master. Have seen many slighted spaulders drop from him, as well as crap loot like the war hammers and the(what everyone say no longer drops) strenght of grodan. Spaulders seem to be his common drop.
