Rampages about every round. Prior to getting slowed, his DPS is about 1000hp/sec. After being slowed/crippled, he's much easier.

  • Respawn Timer: on the old world raid npc timer of 3 days +/- 12 hours.
  • Slowable: Yes
  • Single-Target Rampages: Yes

Killed him with my guild pretty easily...dropped Wicked Mail and some nice boots, (9 wis and int, +3 every other stats, and SVs, all/all). No more than 2 deaths, if that.
strat guide
# May 01 2003 at 5:02 AM Rating: Default
dropped him last night on our first attempt. some strat advice.

pulling:
can single pull him to zone. previous posts are correct. he will outrun his guards so basically, aggro him and run back to zone. out run his guards, keep him in aggro range, you get back to zone safe and sound on your own. An invuln class is probably best for doing this to avoid dieing on the pull.

slowing
he is slowable. i am pretty sure we tashed, maloed then slowed pretty easy with 65 shaman. While waiting for the slow, make sure you are spamming the MA with fast heals. ONce slowed the healing did not require a cheal line, just a few healers in teh group. We used a ranger to disc parry for 12 seconds whilst we got him slowed.

rampage
he rampages. most important thing here is to get a rampage tank established. this means, get your rampage tank to ping him with arrows a few times on inc, and hit him a few times b4 engage is called. make sure to cripple too. don't let your rampage tank die

He spawns at the top steps of the entrance to VT..

Run up the steps you will see him ;)
He can also see thru invis but his guards can not!

orb drops?
# Mar 02 2003 at 9:18 AM Rating: Default
Anybody killed this guy and him NOT have the Glowing Orb of Luclinite?
RE: orb drops?
# Mar 05 2003 at 3:26 PM Rating: Default
Killed him a few days ago and he did not drop the Orb. Dropped 2 things, cloak of destruction and Tunic of Kinship.

He was quite easy. Easier than expected, really. Shaman got him slowed within 10 secs of him arriving and the spam healing kept the MT alive until then. After slowed he was not even worth bragging about. Doomshade is way harder.

Spawned by...?

This guy doesn't take any special work to spawn, right (like Doomshade)? He just shows up after a timer and sits there?

do the summoned creature nukes work against this guy???
pulling him
# Nov 19 2002 at 9:19 AM Rating: Default
One of the easiest ways to pull him is to have a Shadowknight with harmshield run up to him and **** him and all his guards off... run along the wall back to the zone... with harmshield make sure he is somewhat in front of the pack i.e. right in front of you as you aggro them.. run him along the wall a ways ahead of him... you run faster than he does... he outruns his guards. His guards will turn back and forget about you... about 10-15 seconds before you reach zone he will start to turn back so let him catch up to ya a bit and just baby him to camp.. his guards forget all about you and its a VERY easy pull

Sounds like a great plan, but at his lvl does he not summon? Also is he immune to darkness line and fear?

Most mobs won't summon till you actually do damage to them. Not always the case, but usually. If all you do is get close enough to aggro, it's doubtful he'd summon.

No he doesn't summon unless he is damaged. We usually used two monks to pull about like the earlier tactic said. Have the one monk aggro him and pull him along the zone wall. Rumble will get ahead of his guards. First monk feign, second monk tag and bring in. If you pull to zone just so you know there is some weird pathing right at the tunnel entrance so you gotta sweet talk him in. We also killed the massive stone guardians on the side of the wall we were pulling to make it a bit easier. Rumblecrush and Doomshade both are extremely easy pulls.

You sure about the 7 day spawn timer? I've heard 3 days, but have no confirmation.

After seeing him pop in less than 72 hours, I think he might be 3 days +/- a few hours?

how we do him
# Oct 02 2002 at 4:33 AM Rating: Decent
okay I hardly see any good clues on how to do mobs, so I figured how my guild does him...

here is the best setup we have found, 1 bard 2 shammies 1 or 2 chanters, total 30ppl is way enough.

Bard pull shim with OOS, has to make sure he knows his ****** pathing, but thats easy to figure out.

Debuffers/Slower stand in the little tunnel, ready to TAG him with malo/slow...
MT is at the end of the tunnel close to the wall starts a little aggro with arrows while the debuffers do their job.

Pulls him to corner, calls assist and u basically bang the **** out of him.

The 2nd shammy is there to reslow, tho a bound shaman works aswell...
The Shaman will die most likely upon slow, running to zone is not really an option due to the fact that Rumble will then be close to the raid force and start rampaging on em ;)

at 50% to 60% the nukerslay waste and melees do their offensive disc at roughly 30%

save, clean kill that way. no deaths but the poor debuffer

even doable with 1 cleric and a few patch healers.
just have some mods, necros to feed the cleric(s) mana.

all in all he is a pushover... If the cooperation between MT and debuffers are good.

# Jul 03 2003 at 8:45 AM Rating: Default
Thats what a Beastlord is good for...Have a Beast hit him with his 65% slow....Most Beastlords will survive the Melee where as the Shaman will drop like a rock...

#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 18 2002 at 6:13 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Yes, so it is true that rumble can be slowed, but if he fights Tormax, who is gonna be there to slow him? Certainly not Tormax
RE: Rumble Vs Tormax

Rumble cant fight Tormax. He is KoS in Norrath :p
I wonder?

Has anyone hit this guy with a summon DD spell yet? He is a earth elemental
Easily slowed
# Jul 19 2002 at 9:34 PM Rating: Good
We did rumble last night, Guild leader essentially told me to slow asap, don't even wait for assists or anything. Landed my first slow on him... We didn't have someone with malo there, I think the mage could have landed a MALA before my slow hit, but it's possible I slowed him without any resist debuffs. He quickly came beat me down, but at least he was as good as dead by then :P
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 13 2002 at 1:25 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) yeah rumblecrush would prob kill tormax, unless you slowed him.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 07 2002 at 6:58 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I've been thinking, doesnt this guy drop some pretty crappy loot for his strength / level... People who would hunt him would most likely have atleast stuff 5x better. I mean, 8ac hat? 4ac ring? 12ac pants? Cmon i bet this guy could rip Tormax to shreds.. and this crappy loot?? :(
RE: 1 More Thought..
# Sep 06 2002 at 5:25 AM Rating: Decent
Crappy Loot!?!

You seem to be pretty biased towards AC... Yes, the AC on those item you listed aren't all that great, but lets look at the loot you carelessly labeled as crappy:

Chooser's Cap - only 5 all/all head items have better resists.

Ring of the Ages - is better than 90% of all of the other rings there are in the game.

Black Velvet Pants - There is ONLY ONE int leg item in the ENTIRE GAME that has more stats than these for int casters, and only 1 that has more int period. All in all, this is probably about the second best leg item for int casters that exists.

Could rip tormax to shreads you say???

Tormax is a much harder kill than this guy. Probably mainly due to the fact you can slow rumble. We took a shot at rumble and tormax on the same night a few weeks back. Rumble was killed with only 2/3 losses. Tormax ate around 5/6 tanks and started killing healers/casters etc.

As for other resists, I managed to land quite a few fire based DDs on rumblecrush but couldnt touch tormax at all.

Secondly getting to tormax is much harder than getting to rumble, many giants in the way compared to a few relatively easy guardians.

There are a few raid piccys here if anyone wants to have a look at tormax/rumblecrush in action. Appologies for the look of rumble (big elemental) I've got the old graphics loaded for better speed.

Um, guys. Your argueing with a guy who at 45 wouldnt even make the trip to UP alive much less actually been in a fight with Tormax or RC. I don't think its worth your time to argue with a guy who's knowledge comes from this site only.

Can he be charmed? I mean, at 60 enchanters can use the class type ability to permanently charm something, wouldnt be bad to have a pet that flurries, does 1khp a sec and has literally tons of hp ;) justa thought.

Took him down
# Jun 16 2002 at 10:48 PM Rating: Default
Took him down today on Solesek Ro. Took about 40 people or so, and first chance he wiped us out, but we got him back and he dropped some nice loot. He can be slowed and tashed and after that just have your clerics do the CH chain and you will be set.
Drops

Yes he can be slowed. Did him today, chanter landed tashan, then I landed slow first time (being only a 56 shammy). So yes he is slowable, just get the chanters in there first
Slowable?
# Jun 09 2002 at 6:02 PM Rating: Decent
Anyone had any luck slowing him? Even with malo landed our 60 shammy wasn't able to slow (got him to 50 before wipeout even so ;P). Says he's slowable, but...
ouch
# Jun 04 2002 at 9:43 PM Rating: Decent
he hits hard and fast. IM a 54 ranger on the rathe, I got an invite from Tindi Losi to go kill him. First attempt was a bad pull. He went crazy killing everyone and fast. I was one of the last to go down. It took about 5 hits and i had just over 3000 hps and 960 sumething ac. Second time we had no problem only 3 people died i think it was so much fun can not waite to try him again. thanks Tindi :) and Camile for the invite.

Yeah, and no rogues or pure casters, either. They can't take a beating either!
#Anonymous, Posted: May 21 2002 at 12:39 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Hrm... if you have never met a Ranger with both Epic Swords, Full ToV armor, and most of his/her Arch skills completed... you would know a damage dealer. In one hand, the ability to slow. In the other, one of the games BEST Haste items. The ability to immobilize a target (snare/root). Distance attack (Dot's, DD cast, Arrows). Debuff. Stat buff(HP,ATK,AGI,STR). LOL.. ok Heal is laughable :) But you see my point.
