#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 20 2002 at 1:03 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) the people who took this pic were they 3rd or 4th to kill him. the main guild on the serever LOS (legacy of steel) were the first to kill him. the 5th was a group of which was a mix of sun tzu council and sun tzu guardians, i was there and got my butt whooped (but i was only 47 at the time). he's immune to ALOT of spells such as snare, stun, and mez. not really worth the effort to kill it.

There is a mob called the 'Tribal Keeper'. He is the placeholder for Tribal Leader Garn. He spawns in the same place as the Tribal Leader and the Age Old Rockhopper. Just keep killing the placeholder and eventually the leader will spawn. Once you kill the leader all the sambata will despawn and the rockhoppers will repsawn.

One note... if you've been killing a lot of rockhoppers you will have very good faction with most of the sambata. Note I say "most"... there are four of them that are always KoS regardless of how much the rest like you. So if you've got sambata and you want to make the rockhoppers spawn, it's relatively easy to do since the 'friendly' sambata won't assist the KoS ones.

The first KoS sambata is the third one into the entrance.

The next KoS one is in the second cave, the one where the floor is sharply angled.

The third KoS one is the placeholder for the tribal leader. This is nice because it means you can easily pull the placeholder all the way outof the cave if you want and none of the others will aggro... or you can just stand there in the cave and kill him.

The last KoS one is the placeholder for the Tribal Advisor, in the cave across from the leader's cave.

Note that the leader himself is on the "friendly" faction, which means every other sambata in the cave will assist if you try to pull him out.

Pretty good info.

Kill Tribal Keeper and the Leader will spawn (usually takes about 8 tries befoe he will finally pop). This one placeholder is a 23 minute spawn, so be prepared for a long day. As a 60 druid with good faction with the Sambata I can solo pull him right past the unsnareable Shaman, and he won't assist other than to heal him if he is nearby. Other than that the Sambata Shaman won't move.

Once you get Tribal Leader Garn to pop and you kill him (so far I have done this 6 times, he drops squat) the Rockhoppers return to the cave.

As a solo druid the leader cannot be snared or rooted, so I tossed a dot on him and had just enough time to invis myself and run out to get by the KOS tribals, taking the Leader with me. At 60 nothing will assist the leader, so you can kite him outside if solo. Other than that, he's easy if you have someone there to tank him a bit while you heal, then nuke him down.

Finally, once the hoppers are back, you can kill the Rockhopper that was in the same spot as Tribal Keeper/Leader. After several kills (again, 23 min timer on these) you will get the Age Old to spawn. Killing him brings back the Tribalists...

The reason I was even doing this for 4 days was to try to get Gants Remains off of the Age old Hopper, used to get the Tribal Warsword (2HS 23 31 str4 wis5...). So far the Age Old has dropped 2 Centerstones for the Wolfslayer quest, nothing, or a hide. No Gant's Remains. Kinda sucks when you figure that it takes an average of 6 Keeper/Rockhopper kills just to get the named to pop. That's about 5 hours just for one cycle. So basically 25 hours this week on this quest with very little to show for it. Pretty weak.

Also, the Age old Rockhopper that spawns can sometimes be snared. Sometimes he can't...

When I was 35 or so, me and 2 level 37s were killing Simbatas and my beastlord pal pulled this Simbata Tribal Leader. He looks like the rest, just bigger. He was red to me and packed a mean punch. We couldnt take him and had to zone to ME. So Im guessing minimum level 40. My spells werent touching him (wizard). The 2 beastlords got him down to about 75% health I think, but I cant quite remember. Perhaps this information is worthless, but Im trying to give what little information I know in the hopes it does help somebody out.
where in cave is this fellow

I got one called "Navi's Stone Bracer" tonight.

Anyone know of any npc in the game that is named Navi? Or know of a use for this bracer? It's pretty weak to be a non-quest item. 5AC and 2str/2dex.

Faced this beast today. In a 4 pull, I unfortunately had this guy targeted first, so I attempted to mez him. Got the message that he can't be mez'd, so of course I try to stun him so I can back off and root. Get the message he can't be stunned. Have no idea if he can be rooted because he blinded me during my root cast, then killed me shortly after. I never did get to con him, but the 53 pally puller said it was blue. Just an FYI: the flintstone looking guys who pop after the age old is killed are tougher than the hoppers and wont give as much xp as the hoppers do. Good luck and happy hunting.

Wrong.

Galorian bone fragments are NOT used in the Tribal Warblade quest. "Gant's Remains" are needed. They both look the same in inventory.

I still don't know what the galorian bones are used for.

simbata leader guy?
# Feb 22 2002 at 4:23 PM Rating: Decent
IS there a simbata leader? can anyone confirm this? i dont mean thru hearsay.. i mean has anyone ACTUALLY killed him :/. trying to camp for gants remains and we killed alot of the different simbatas <ie.> all the ones listed in bestiary, and no other nameds spawn for a wile. our theory is that the simbatas are on a timed despawn, meaning after a wile the rockhoppers pop and kill the simbatas. no trigger required, just spawns after a certain time or maybe random.
please post if you have seen this alleged "simbata leader guy".

I know this is a long time after your post, but yes, I can confirm there is a Sambata leader.. He pops in the middle of the rocks where the rest of them appear in front of the ME camp.. easy kill.

Wooden Hilted Ulac
# Feb 20 2002 at 9:03 AM Rating: Decent
Killed this guy 2 times ever, first time dropped the Ulac, second time dropped a meat and hide.

I don't kill him anymore because would rather get xp and hides from Hoppers than hit at greenie Sambata all day with nil chance of respawning the Hoppers(killed the boss 8x with no change so seems to be bugged)

The Age old Rockhopper also drops "Gant's remains" which is used in the Tribal Warblade quest. I have heard that the normal Rockhoppers also drop this "bone" or remains...can anyone confirm?

How Do you Respawn Rockhoppers
# Jan 09 2002 at 5:29 AM Rating: Decent
How do you respawn the Rockhoppers?
The Hoppers drop Tailoring Hides and I'd rather see the caves owned by Hoppers than by Tribesmen.

Who is the Tribe Leader that we must kill to respawn the Hoppers?

I can confirm when killing him, it deswpawns all rockhoppers.
He dropped hide and meat for us.
There was a several minute delay, then the tribesmen spawned.
My faction was apprehensive to some, scowl to others.
This guy was blue to me at 53.

55 and 56 mage dropped this guy, had absolutly nada when we killed him... NOTE - KILLING HIM TRIGGERS THE SAMBATA TRIBE TO SPAWN IN THE CAVE (who will remain in the cave until u kill their leader... then it will rotate to rockhoppers again), the sabata are much more lethal than the rockhoppers, very hard to solo one as a 55 mage
#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 26 2001 at 5:19 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I am lvl 47 and this guy conned red to me today so I dont think he is 47
