Been here for hours
# Aug 11 2008 at 11:56 PM Rating: Decent
I've camping him for hours after a patch. Killing every red skin in sight. Still no spawn.

After 4 hours I got one to pop. I can almost guarantee that this mob isnt on a timer. After pop, I went to sleep, woke up and looked around to find none. It is 2008, the chances of someone coming to this zone are slim. My assurance is further increased because other named mobs were up around the zone, so it is highly unlikely the raldukan was killed while I slept.

Can anyone verify that this guy still spawns? I've hunted on and off for months and have not seen him up since February. Even went so far as to bring guildies in recently and we cleared most all the gantru's for a few hours and he was still a no show.

Some posts claim all but the moktors must be cleared but I've yet to see this spawn him. Any help would be appreciated.

Spawn/loc/info
# Jan 02 2004 at 1:27 PM Rating: Decent
I know some of this is repeated but alot of good info on this guy seems to have been lost in spam posts. I have hunted just outside of the ME entrance area for about 10 hours total. In that time I found the Raldukan>s< (see below) spawned every 40 mins to 4 hours apart (approx). I was generally hunting in an empty zone so I don't think any got snagged in between my sightings. Of note however is that every time I killed 1 Raldukan a second would spawn immediately after. In all I killed about 8 Raldukans. Got the Warmask x1, Helm x3 rest charms.

He is a pain until slowed and his MR is higher than average. I always pulled with Malo and cast Mala before attempting a slow which sometimes did not stick until the 3 - 4 cast. Hits in the 150 range. Ie easy for a 65 to solo when slowed.

This is pretty accurate. Killed Moktors for about 4 hours till we got one to pop, but we didn't get another pop after we killed him. Only got the charm.

He is slowable, however, you do want to pull with Malo, cause even with malo he resisted my first slow. He rampages at 10% health, woohoo, but he was cake.

I am a 65 Shaman with crappy gear. :-p

61 Shaman. First time I pulled him had to bail because he resisted everything. Second time, I got him to about 44% and he resisted slow about 3 times and wasted my pet. Zoned out, came back and he was still there waiting. Got another pet up and proceeded to finish him off. Not a tough fight at all. Just pulled with malosini, he didn't summon me, ran him inside and then rooted so the pet could munch on him. Kept him slowed and DoTed with epic. About a 20 minute fight. Dropped the charm which I needed for my druid, so ran him over to get it after he was dead, and the raldukan boots. Had a Guildy come loot them since I couldn't use them. Fun fight!

Took this guy out tonight with a 61 Mage and 51 cleric. Summoned Ward of Xegony pet, gave him swords, belt, full armor, Flameshield of Ro, BO3, and Temperence. Cleric CH'd pet when he got low and I tossed Firebolt of Tallon on him about every 15 sec to avoid aggro. Has about 30k to 32k hp and dropped the Helm of Raldukan. Popped after we killed untold numbers of Moktors and Netherbians, no Shojens.

For those of you that want to know his spawning secret. All you have to do is make sure you have no shojens or those shojillin or whatevers up. Any moktor is Raldukans PHer but he will not spawn unless you go about killing those shojens no one likes to pull. There just there to be the annoying part of the camp. Make sure you kill the Shojens as soon as you see them so your next spawn has a chance of being a raldukan.

Common is the necklace
rare is the pink helm
Raldukan drops armor about as often as a moktor unfortunatly but you will alway get a necklace or a helm.....even if he has a piece or armor. (which looks like Fine Steel) Only the helm is pink.

Now that Verant made it so higher level mobs give more experience and many favorite solo spots give less experience(Fungus Grove, Velks), Umbral Plains is getting flooded.

Used to be very few people there, ever, unless it was for Rumblecrush or Doom, or maybe Radir. The other day there were 55 people there, and 35 were at the zoneline. Too chicken to move out, I guess. Later it dropped to 45 people, but 35 of them were still at the zoneline. Very hard to get the Radulkan when so many people are swarming his spawn point.
holding aggro
# Jun 04 2002 at 11:37 AM Rating: Decent
My guild and I are hunting in UP since a bit now, yes even if we not an ubber guild this is doable easy with a bit organisation and people in sync with each other...
If all know what to do exactly in case of trouble or such, everything will go fine and even a couple of death are gonna be fixed in no time to get back on track in the worsr scenarion case...

Now about the holding aggro thing, I don't see why you guys are arguing on who is holding taunt better than the other ROFL that cracks me up tons...

It just depends HOW you play your class, I have seen some wonderful Warriors, SK or paly, and I have seen some chocker ones...

Personnally I am a 55 Paly on Torvo, and i am the MA for each of our trips to Umbral, trips of one group or trips of 2 groups...

If your cleric knows how to use Comp Heal wisely (I mean not casting it as soon as you reach half life, but waiting until the last moment), well paly can handle keeping aggro all fight long,
being held alive by cleric of course, even with a 58 monk or such with me fighting !

Play your class well, use your skills wisely, good group sync...These are the key to make sure all is going to be fine in any trip...
lol...surely not wondering what melee class is gonna "hold aggro" better than the other one.

Just my opinion.

I lead raids on umbral every weekend on Quellious server. This guy would seem to be on an hour or so pop time. When we have taken him down he has dropped Helm of the Raldukan (Not raldukan helm),Gantru Charm, and raldukan legs. This guy always drops helm or charm and drops a piece of the raldukan set as a rare. So don't be fooled and think you can get a full set in one mob :)

Maybe its different per server (i doubt it) but on E-marr its a totally random spawn. It can spawn anywhere a moktor can. I have seen it pop 3 times back to back to back. i have also been there all weekend for 8+hrs a day and not see it once. So far i have gotten the bracelet and the helm. Am really looking foward to the BP. :)

I agree with the lowbie pally (heh, just playin bro), Paladin's are best at agro (for classes that WANT agro, sure a chanter that keeps tashing a mob or a shammy that keeps dropping mega dots or slowing mobs can grab it if they REALLY want it...), even if you worthless (haha) sks have all the agro spells in the world, I could take the agro off you....I guarantee it =)

Hehe, this is a good post. I just have one comment...

Why do most SK's pull with snare? If you need to snare to split, thats cool. Otherwise I want the mob back to camp as soon as possible. Great loot and exp is about killing mobs as fast as you can, and snare just slows that process down.

To stack dots on him to gain agro doesnt make sense either. You want a light taunt on him so the main tank can get agro fast. Just give the warrior a silent 5 count and he can hold agro pretty easy. If not, then give him a 10 count. Its still faster then waiting on snared mobs to get back to camp and they are more likely to grab wandering friends. Plus its more efficient on cleric mana and safer with MT agro as he can then position the mob as appropriate from the start of the battle till the end.

If a caster keeps casting early and agro's let him die. He will learn! He is the guy who is usualy oom anyway and wants to hold up pulls while he meds. He is fired. Let him pace his casting to fit into the group or have him find another.

If you have not guessed it already I am a monk! 8)
RE: Opps...look for maverickpoet posts btw
# Oct 09 2003 at 10:02 PM Rating: Default
Some sk's are MT's in the group is why they pull with snare, giving them time to toss dots and gain aggro almost no one can 'normally' take from them.

Stacking dots on it makes perfect sense if the sk is the MT.

If acting as a puller, and the monk's whining that the mobs get to camp too slow, the monk's got a point, she should be pulling; obviously this is just my opinion. Otherwise, the sk can grab the mob, run back to camp then land his snare right before the mob gets there (cleric spells bof and bor are great for casting speed and run3, if not the death charger, works well for travel). He can choose to either hold aggro or mt for a bit then let the warrior try and take over.

Casters can do whatever they want, sooner the better, once that aggro-drawing dot snare's landed.

Casters cannot do whatever they want with the warrior holding minimal aggro.

I've found caster confidence leads to quickly landed slows and faster nukage, leading to less damage taken and more dps. If the warrior has enough aggro to take the aggro off the no-taunting sk with his snare, he'll have adequate enough aggro to deal with tanking. Also, if the warrior does manage to lose aggro, the sk isn't too far behind to take it back.

Off the snare topic but..I've found that the monks in the group generally pulling brings better results (their fd dominates over the sk's and mend isn't too shabby either). What works nicely, in multiple pull situations, is letting the monk chain pull and the sk chain tag (with his aggro drawing, dot snare). In single pull situations, of course the sk can pull just as well, if not better then the monks; better meaning having done more to the mob then poking it to wake it up and then hightailing it back to camp. Regardless leaving the sk at camp to maintain status quo on what might be out of control situations isn't a bad idea.

you got some great pts there. I never dissed sk's. Just Warriors...lol And of course the Tard of paladin who was trying to flame me. But SK's do hold aggro in UP and I've seen it. Dunno about the aggro rip from the WAR method though...depends on the mix of classes you have present. Cuz a caster is gonna outaggro a warrior sooner or later. Just my 2cp on actually seening this tactic tried. Most warriors don't carry high taunt proc weapons to help them hold it. /boggle Alot of great weapons out there to proc with that good dmg with low dlys. :P

Ok ok, I know we're not the absolute best at getting and holding aggro but us warriors have a few tricks ourselves. We don't have the luxury of all those nifty spells so we have to do things like spend our cash on an Anklesmasher (10/20 w/snare proc), set up a beg hotkey, disarm/taunt every time it comes up wether the mob is armed or not. Now you might think a weak level 9/5 snare spell isn't much of a taunt ask your friendly neighborhood ranger or druid, I didn't have any idea myself till I started using one.

You can also keep a Wooly spider silk net handy in your normal jboots slot since you'll undoubtedly have a druid on the raid (worse than rabbits for multiplying I swear) and if things start to go to hell pop off all three charges of the insta-cast druid root onto the beastie and step right in it's face.

All in all I don't mind a pali or shadowknight snagging aggro off me once in a while, like say if my cleric's a hair slow on the CH timing and I need to step back or just to spread a bit of damage around the party so the group regrowth spells become worth the mana and save on heals. What I mind is when a guy with 300+ less hitpoints and a good bit less ac than me thinks it's ok to Keep aggro on themselves. It wastes my cleric's mana healing the idjit and gets folks killed, cept me cause I had thousands of hitpoints when the fool died so I make it to zone fine.

Boils down to if you're there to show you have the biggest ******* I'm gonna tell ya to hit the road. If you're there to help tha group then you already know what you can and can't do and where your place in any given group is and I'm glad to have you aboard. Yes even druids.

Three things.

First of all, against 55th level enemies and below, paladins are much more mana-efficient than warriors when it comes to tanking. Yes, warriors have armor paladins can't use, and yes, it sports somewhat higher AC and HP bonuses; yes, that means warriors will take slightly less damage per hit on the average, and yes, a CH will heal slightly more HP per point of mana spent. That is how far it goes, however.

When I used to tank 55th level enemies and below, I didn't just stand there and take the hits as a warrior would be forced to do. Instead, I would be using 4 and 6 second stuns whenever they were up, timing them so they would hit just before the enemy was about to strike. The end result? The enemy stuck less than half the number of times it would have otherwise, which meant I took less damage than a warrior on permanent Defensive discipline (which is, of course, not an option.) Aggro loss just didn't occur. The shaman or enchanter slowed the enemy while it was still incoming, meaning no mana wasted healing the warrior while he established enough aggro for the slower to be able to do her thing safely. My mana? KEI, MC1, and FT4 allowed me to keep up without any meditation breaks whatsoever.

Secondly, in the high-end game, where yard trash is able to hit for 700+ damage and make quad attacks, everyone, 65th level warriors included, may die due to a sudden unfortunate flurry, a series of ripostes following a high-damage quad attack, an unexpected add or two, etc.

Paladins, however, have their stuns. When I get low on HP unexpectedly and the CH is still 10 seconds away, I just spend that single second casting a Force of Akilae, thus buying myself and the cleric 4 seconds of time. That could be followed by a 10-second stun (2 seconds to cast), if one is high enough level to cast it. Those stuns are difficult to resist, mind you. Against most enemies, in my experience, FoA is resisted perhaps once an hour of constant tanking.

If a warrior were tanking in such a situation, the cleric would have to abort CH and instead cast quick heals, which hardly is the mana-efficient thing to do.

Finally:

Quote:
If you're there to help tha group then you already know what you can and can't do and where your place in any given group is
Well, that's just the thing: If you want to be brutally honest, a warrior doesn't really have a place in the perfectly balanced XP party--warriors are best at tanking single, raid-level enemies who can't be stunned; that's it. In an XP group, it would be far more effective to let the paladin tank and get another damage dealer instead of the warrior.

But of course, I'm not one of those people who sneer at less than ideal parties; I play the game to have fun, so if you're a warrior and a nice guy, you can take the place of a damage dealer in my party.

rear ac is lower, therefore u do more damage from behind while the paly holds agro, thats why they shoudl keep it. think this is bull? try it out

RE: Opps...look for maverickpoet posts btw
# Sep 12 2002 at 12:04 PM Rating: Excellent
i dont think rear ac is lower... however im not positive. i do know that if you are behind a mob, it cannot dodge/parry/ripo though. As a ranger, I usually stand behind the mob so i can do more damage... i keep cinder jolt up, and throw it on a couple times per fight just to make sure i dont ***** the rogues over on BSes.
warriors are in the game for 1 reason. to take hits, thats why they have the highest AC and HPS... and the best "official" taunt in the game. can a pally or SK hold taunt? absolutely, but so can a ranger if he wants... and the shammy and the chanter etc... but why would they want it?
save the clerics mana if you can... let the warrior do his job and take the hits. Of course warriors do some damage, but its not really comparable to ranger/rogue/monk damage.(not a flame, warriors do a substantial amount of damage)

There are exceptions to every rule though, and im sure you can come up with a bunch of "what if" replies to this... and you are probably right in those cases, this is just a generalization.

Like so many things in this game, the ability to hold agro, and the skill in knowing WHEN to get agro, is not entirely a class-based thing. It is player dependant.

(btw - I LOVE proc'ing weapons - unfortunately, as my 2 current proc'rs have DoT proc's the only use they see *usually* is when I am certain we have only a single mob and no adds incoming :p~)

Level and loot
# Apr 17 2002 at 2:52 AM Rating: Default
The level is definately wrong. This thing is 57-58 every time I have seen it. fairly rare, but loot in Umbral is rare like any other place. All the armor is not nerfed. Just happen to have hit a string of Helms. I been all over Umbral lately, and have seen how most mobs drop things. Its all a random mess, and you will see more drops off things the more you kill it. Since these are fairly rare pops you kinda take what you can get at the time. It is a nice Helm.
