I was clearing Shadow Island today (Apr 05) and noticed that the shadows now lifetap for a higher amount. The greaters lifetap for 210, and the lessers 208 (or maybe up to 210). At level 70 just farming the swirling shadows it didnt make any difference - I was still able to clear the island and finish at 100% health - but for a mid 50's and lower it might cause them some fits.

Word to the wise, anyone who treasures their skin will take a group to help them deal with mob control for these suckers. Was hunting here with my warrior partner, and we got a tad too close to one of the mobs. Sent in my pet... and you know how shammy pets are... it got all happy, and decided to play with every other shadow on the island too!

Been takin my lvl 39 shammie to twilight sea.....these guys are easy minus the named ones....but the named ones are easy too if i get malisment to stick....definately dont want to try these guys if you are melee though.
oh yeah....dont use a pet.....it dies fast...just root and dot....rinse and repeat

Even when green these mobs are very tough. 3 of them killed my 60th warrior with little effort. They proc huge lifetaps with nearly every swing. I was unable to consistently root them using a 60th shaman. I don't know how well snare works but I hear they can be fear kited.

I've been pulling a few shadows between spawn cycles at the docks, since the shadows and elementals are the only way to make any cash while doing that camp.
Yes, they can be fear-kited, and it's really the only sane way to fight these things, but even at 54 I've had multiple resists on snare and fear from the same mob when doing so: that time the lifetap procs really tore into my Rogue pet before the mob went down (pet was at 30-40% health at the end of the fight). Even when fear sticks it often breaks after four or five seconds.
So as undercons, definitely: they're far more dangerous than the level 40 mobs at the docks, who are pretty much trivial to kill at 54.

The sword he is carrying is a dark edged 2hander and looks just like that when equipted is a 23/40 +6str +6int +20mana i have 1 on 3 of my charecters

Couldn't do *any* damage to the white greater shadows (three 35th lvl chars), the blue ones regularly drain 130pts and hit for dual 80s. Don't bother fighting these guys unless they're light blue or green.

These mobs interestingly enough seem to have a higher magic resitance then the higher level greater shadows...
I just killed some of the lesser shadows and they dropped what looked like gems called "swirling shadows" no rent stackable. Anyone know what they are used for?

I hunted the island for awhile, 45 nec, parked pet on shore across from island opposite of elemental grove side. They seem to be very easy to single pull and were snared easily. I then used the undead fear and dd. Dropped rather quickly. These are the types i saw:
lesser-were green to dark blue to me
greater shadow were mostly blue, some light
lithe was on island, don't know what triggers it, but it dropped the blackened mace
the frenzied shadow popped after some time, dropped the darkedged two hander (for my sk :)
If any of this info helps, I would be happy.

The sword is actually a Dark Edged two hander which is actually a decent mic level sword. Got one of a frenzied shadow.

They do count as undead since ward undead works on them even though invis to undead doesn't. I Didn't see them fear at all but proc a life tap that can hit up to 150hp and often. My 40 shaman had two on him an died before the rest of the group realized they were hitting me, named ones drop the better items Frenzied, Groaning etc.
Some of them were green, and thinking back on it, the light blue one may have been just 'a shadow' and not a lesser shadow.
Despite looking very undead, these buggers were indiff hen I was invised (and scowls without. :) )

thats just one of those crap newb swords that drop off lots of mobs in SoL...i think they're equivelent to fine steel weapons but just look a lot cooler.

Too bad spiny weps look like crap on pets. I was trying to clear the elemental isle with my chanter, so I saved some of the 2H spiny weps that dropped. These looked really cool on the npc elementals but when I gave them to my mage and he gave them to his pet the graphics were weird. The 2H staff looks like a funny looking shield when wielded by a pet and the 1H mace looks like a regular mace. I was kind of disappointed. Oh, and while fine steel weps sell to vendors for several plat, spiny sell for a few gold.

Yeah like that spiny mace thing I got the other day in Scarlet Desert, it looks TOUGH when you equip it... too bad the ratio is like 4, it's two handed, AND doesn't have even one stat on it. :p
