Most of you are describing the wrong fish. The fish in the water by the bandit camp is NOT the wetfang. The wetfang in ocassionally found in the first circular area you walk in after entering Paladual Caverns from Shadeweaver's Thicket...either that or not too far in one of the hallways connecting to the area. Also, for more info on the fish, it has a VERY high hp regeneration.

The fish in the lake by the bandit camps are the fish that is needed for the quests... Large Wetfang drops the eyes.

Actually, large wetfangs do inhabit the lake by the bandit camps. There may be other fish there also that I didn't see, but I can assure you that there are wetfangs there. It was the only way I could get my fish eyes after failing miserably at chasing the ones stuck in the walls. :)
Where?

I can NEVER find these - even with a ranger using track! (Haven't tried in months, though - I'll try again next week, maybe.)

They're in the water by the bandit camps.

These fish are found in the water, still con light blue sometimes to my 23 necro, so I'm not sure the level is right. Also, some con indifferent to me and some con ready to attack. Odd thing is, getting close to either one will still make it aggro, greenies too. I personally have horrid AC and even so don't think they hit hard. I finished them off with my Walrus Tooth of t3h l33t. This may be because I have a high swim skill, I dunno. =p
Where are they

Which area of Paludal are these fish located in? I'm getting ready to start the shaman quest with my alt and would appreciate the knowledge. Thanks.
Hard hitting!

These little buggers hit hard! I have a level 18 Shadowknight on the Innoruuk server and these things were hitting me for 20-30 Dmg! I don't know if it's just a couple of them, but low-level players, stay clear!
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 19 2002 at 7:56 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) 20-30 hard hitting? i mean for lvl that's kinda hard but c'mon, that's weak!

Annoying..

Whenever I find one and try to kill it, it runs and apparently passes through the wall of the pool into the odd realms that the zone floats in. Not only does this mean that I can't get to it, finish the kill, and loot the steak that it may or may not drop, but it means that it never despawns and thus a new one doesn't spawn for me to make another try on.

If the wetfang disappears from the lake, head out of the cavern travelling north, as if going to Shadow Haven. The fishes movement is bugged. He will appear in the tunnel, near the bottom of the slope out of the room with the lake. Just be sure you 'demon right-click' when you kill it, or it will float into the ceiling, and will not respawn until the corpse decays.

I've had similar problems, Maureah. They either "poof" as soon as they spawn (still see them on my targetr list but they are under the pond or in a wall somewhere) or they zip into those unreachable areas whilst I'm fighting them. Grrrrrrrr. I need the eyes and it shouldn't be this hard to get them. Wish that the pathing would be corrected in the next patch.

I found that they root pretty easily. To kill them i would just poke away until they turned tail, then root them and finish they job. Took about 20 minutes to get eight eyes that way.

I've found that the best way to kill the things is to watch the first bend in the tunnel to the north of the first pool from Shadeweaver's. They frequently seem to get stuck in the wall there.

I just saw one stuck up there on my very first visit to the Caverns. It conned blue to me (14 druid), so I cast Stinging Swarm until it ran down to single-digit health, then slashed it to death. Took a while, though!

These guys drop eyes (shaman quest) and meat (rouge quest). Both are no-drop. Other than that, not much more to them. Remember not to drown when fighting them.

a lot of what I have seen lately look like an H.R. GIGER creation. The one cave monster thingie and this fish.... Bizarre.... very bizarre.
