could be meant as 4 different things......article 86 (AWoL), the chick spy from Get Smart, being out of something in the kitchen, or the fact that verrent knew they were going to have to get rid of this mob, hence it's been 86ed...just somethign to think about
Having been an Army Legal Specialist, this is my take on the meaning of 86's name:
Article 86, Uniform Code of Military Justice (Absence Without Leave or Authority) AKA, AWOL.
This term was used for soldiers who failed to show up for duty and they were often referred to as having "gone over the wall". Thus the spawn of an invisible creature with a location right in front of the a wall. Very clever actually, and my hat's off to the developers for the military reference. Too bad he was nerfed out of the game.
ok, lot of ppl posting stuff on the meaning of 86 and this is old but stumbled across it so figured I'd reply, 86 actually comes from the uniform code of military justice (UCMJ) article number 86 is unauthorized absence, or away without leave, AWOL or UA, the UCMJ covers all members of the united states military, and basically if you're 86 you're gone, so could be why he's not there, he's 86 whatever, and I don't care if I made spelling errors or I'm a little off =)
Wow.. 86 must be a older sib to 8. So, umm... can you kill this.. wall... or is it like 'the current' or whatever.. it was the water or in the water... couldnt kill it...(in the warrens on zebuxoruk)
that was probably verants way of making water dangerous to swim in. Like a heavy current can undertow you and or hurt you to a degree, sapping stamina and health. That was probably for environmental effect and this is more of a mischievious monster... id say
lol that was a Sublime song lyric :P and yes 86 means to take something out. Like above some one said that to 86 something was to get rid of it on the menu. As a waiter when some one changed their order I'd have to "86" the previous.
The term 86 comes from what waitors and cook's use to mean that there is no more of something or to hold an item on a dish. Example, to 86 the tomatoes on a sandwich means to not put them on while onions are 86 means there are no more onions so tell your customers when they try to order onions there are no more.
This guy ISN'T invizzy, you just can't see the model at all...he is lvl 60 but he's not like any other 60, I saw a lvl 60 tank solo this guy and when the tank accully got hit (not very often) the max was for only 10 points...has a ton of HP's (prolly like 25-35 k).
The way these mobs work (all the mobs in POM that appear to be just names) are as follows.
They're all human models, set to transparency.. so there's something there, yet you can't really see it. It's not invisible, it's just not something that the player was meant to see.
This creature is most likely to be invisible and the back ground of it is just a wall, i bet you could see him if you were buffed with a see invis spell. A warrior or fighter type probably took the photo
you wouldn't be able to see the name if it was invis...you just fight that nothing, like the shadows in ToFS, they're nothing but a name that you kill and loot :)
Kinda like the Whorl of Natural Energy in PoG... can't see them either, but you fight and loot. Personally, I'm not sure if it's a missing graphic or deliberate... I'll bet on the latter.
