I can confirm that Phurzikon and Nezekezena spawn at -450, -2550. I parked my pet there (and added the loc to my map), and just pulled all of the mobs to my pet at that loc. Within 15 min or so I had a mob spawing there every 90 sec or so. Three Neze and two Phurz and I had my blazon ember.

Same here. Took me about 30 PHs to get a 2nd drag, and then the 3rd drag popped after the 2nd one.

I am also posting this on Nez's page.

I camped Nez/Phur today on Vulak(progression server) I lost the camp once to link death, and had to restart the spawn cycle. This is a quick write up on what I did, in case anyone else is still doing these quests.

I zoned in from Frontier and proceeded to an older loc, -450, -2250. I was the only person in the zone, which meant that unfortunately there was no tracker available. Assuming that neither Nez or Phur was up, I proceeded to slowly circle out from the previously mentioned loc and kill everything in sight. This included Skeletons, Sarnaks, Giants, wurms, and gorillas. I kept my Necro box seated on the position and monitored for spawns. Once I killed the place holders, it began a spawn cycle.

I can confirm that spawns on the loc listed above (-450, -2250) approximately every 80 seconds. I can also confirm that according to what spawned on the loc, skeletons, Sarnaks, Giants, Wurms, gorillas, and wasps are all fair game to be place holders, so do not rule out ANY mob around that loc as a place holder.

In four hours of camping the loc once I had the cycle running, Phur spawned approximately one out of every ten mobs (1/10th), and Nez spawned maybe one in 25 or so at best. Nez is definitely the rarer of the two wurms, but he always dropped the red wurm gut. After about five or so Nez spawns, he finally dropped the Burning Embers.

From the standpoint of taking out the named wurms, I had a Magician and a Necromancer, and duoing them was no issue. I would say that both were easily soloable on my Magician (level 59), although I would recommend that you chain pets. Phur is a push over, and runs at 20% health. Nez, on the other hand, seems to want to nuke you till approximately 5-10%. Still, not an issue as long as you are at least half to full mana and are careful. The biggest problem at this camp is adds; my recomendation is to take along someone (Another Mage, A Necromancer, or a Shadow Knight would probably be best) in order to help out with them. While they are not dangerous in and of themselves, they do tend to gang up on you fairly quickly.

I hope this helps any Magicians or Bards in their quests. Good luck.

stand at neg 470, neg 2540 in BW and kill the mobs that pop there, every 45 seconds or so. Kill all the surrounding mobs at first to ake sure u get the original place holder killed off, once they are spawning at this loc u are golden. Nez and Phurz Both can pop here.

Went to this location after spending 2 days around zone getting no where and finally decide to read posts, first wurm kill next pop was Nezek and dropped wurm guts for bard epic I think. Continued to kill wurms and after third kill Nezek popped again and dropped same. Few more wurm kills and got Phur to pop and dropped crap. Next pop was Nezek right where I killed Phur and got guts again (if only i was there for bard epic, go figure) seems they can pop anywhere around this area (-455 -2550) had some pop up near zone wall near Frontier mountains area. Best to have tracker with you. There was a time when no wurms were up so I just killed trash mobs til they started popping again. Hoping to get my mage piece soon!

The loc works for generating a quickly refreshing spawn, but this guy can spawn anywhere in the zone apparently, as I've killed roamers at that spawn point and later seen him walking by, rather than spawning on the point.

It might be a good idea not to kill roamers and just focus on the one spawn point.
wrong info
# Jun 27 2008 at 10:21 PM Rating: Decent
does this guy actually have anything to do with bard quest, he does not drop guts and thats the only reason bards r in BW i believe
Popped in ~20 min.
# Nov 10 2007 at 2:32 AM Rating: Decent
The previousely stated information about -455 -2550 is correct. I went near that loc (Solo, no tracker) and killed everything i could that roamed by - Hornets, gorillas, giants, sarnak knights, and paying special attention to wurms. A Sarnak Zealot walked by but he managed to slip away. The spot I was at had a building on either side of me in the near distance.

In the midst of fighting a Giant Arbor I saw Pherz off in the distance, approaching me from the building to the north... Popped just between it and myself. Phurz Con'd Light blue to my 57 mage. Dropped at loc -602 -2706 with embers and other misc fodder. 1 and done. Pet had 40% health but just got finished killing a few mobs in a row. I resisted all nukes with only 150 resists, had 80% health after getting hit a few times for roughly 120ish max but more around 80 avg... and had 70% mana as I unloaded shock of steel (scoring one crit of 2300 or so) out of concern for dirtball which had just taken out a few mobs in a row. I was there for roughly 20 min.

By the way... Phurz made no attempt to gate or summon and tried to walk away at about 10%

Hope this helps.

I camped this spot for about 2-3 days with about 3hrs a peice killing everything in site. Had a friend come and just started killing everything tonight. When Phurzi finally spawned it was to the N of loc -455 -2550 a good ways away. I never actually got to find the PH that is supposed to pop here on the 80 second timer. I did get luccy though and he dropped my burning ember WOOT. Cant wait for Hate and Sky drops those will be so fun =/.
Wrong level
# Jul 24 2007 at 1:25 AM Rating: Decent
Level is wrong, conned yellow to me as a 45 Necro.

Found him by the crater and solo'd him without too much trouble, me and the pet were both Temped so (after i realized he was a caster) i just went easy on the DoT's to let the pet take some of the nuke's before i got aggro then i just moved out of range when he tried to cast on me and used LifeTap's to stay alive when he hit me with root, he must have gone OOM trying to chain nuke because he never did gate. finished with 78% HP and 29% Mana.

Phurzikan and the N-dragon do spawn at the -455 -2550 spot, but they gate sometimes under 15% health. When they gate they go to Pos 2788 Pos 1035, near skyfire where Glyton is supposed to spawn. Took us omg, at least 30 kills of the Phurzikon and N-dragon each.

-455 by -2550 is a GREAT loc

And yes 80 second respawn.

just stand there, mobs drop out of the sky, kill as they drop, and she will spawn.

Horrible drop rate for mage item tho.

Hope that helps.

Update - 4 hours one session then another 2 hours and the Burning Ambers finaly dropped but they dropped off Nezekezena not Phurzikon.

burning woods named mobs
# Aug 30 2006 at 4:59 PM Rating: Decent
i am camping the named wurms for my wifes mage epic 1.0. spawn timer is 80 seconds or so...once you get the cycle going. after that...its a patience game. be ready to wait a long time. i have heard others that got the burning embers in a matter of hours, as opposed to days or weeks. either way, like all epics its a matter of wanting it. don't worry...you will get the drop.

side note: its true...all mobs around the area could be PH's. so go to camp spot..pull and kill all in immediate area...and wait for cycle to start.

This is a silly response - troll?

No one is cheating here. Someone noticed that this is where certain mobs spawn. This includes two named wurms. It's also pretty much if not exactly where they go when they gate (nez will gate low on health to this spot, n450 n2550ish).

This is based on observation. You kill the mobs wandering through that area, you will eventually nail the PH for this cycle. Then, one by one, mobs will spawn right on that area. They'll stand there a while, then start roaming. Other cycles wander through this area too - it gets hairy.

But this is not cheating. No more info is needed. Sometimes it can take agonizingly long until you finally nail the PH. My guess is that it can just take a long, long time for the PH to wander thru and be killed by you.

But this does work. I've killed Phurz... six or seven times. Nez at least four times. No epic drop yet. Going back today.....
how I did it..
# Jul 16 2005 at 10:40 AM Rating: Decent
80 sec is the spawn timer, Loc is -470,-2545
everything can be his PH including apes, wurms, sarnarks and bees.
After you see the mobs spawn in this exact location, just stand near it..and wait for the mobs to spawn :)
You can have 5-10 PH before having a named wurm, so dont get too frustrated.. on the other hand you can have nameds spanwning one after another...very random

was very easy after you find the right mob to kill in order to start the cycle :) ... GL guyz
Phur's Embers

Just passin it along.....I hunted these embers as my last epic item. Soloing Phur at 57 wasnt too bad, but had to box my chanter for CC. You will get adds, unless you plan to pull each mob to the hill that surrounds Silix. That seems to be pretty safe up there.

I had 6 different groups and about 10 solos there before I got the embers.

Took me 2 weeks, 30 named kills (Nez & Phur)to get embers.

I had nights where we couldnt even get the spawn started, in this case go do something productive.
You should be able to get the spawn going in about 20 min of killin every 'CLOSE' wondering mob to the spawn loc.

I'd like to shout @ Kroxim, Tenlayen, and Katonix/Sylann. Thanks for helpin wit dis one guys!

Also, All in all I probably killed 12 Nez's and 18 Phurs. I got my embers off of Phur and 20 min later Kroxim got his embers off another Phur.

Hope this helps with you upcoming Mages

Some guildmates and I decided to do this camp tonight (thanks everyone) for my burning embers. We had a full group and simply killed everything in the area until a scoreia hornet spawned exactly on the "spot".

I announced the cycle had begun and we just stayed put and killed the mobs where they spawned, with our pets and the odd group member keeping the wandering mobs busy. There are lots of wanderers in this area.

A few spawns later (less than 10), Phurzikon kindly coughed up the burning embers and the red wurm gut.

Judging by the posts here, I got very lucky.
Burning Embers drop
# Dec 28 2003 at 11:48 AM Rating: Excellent
I can confirm that Phurzikon is still dropping the burning embers. But it takes a while. I killed at the spawn point for a total of around 10 hours and saw way too much red wurm gut.

Here's what I did.
1- Go to neg 450 neg 2550 in the Burning Woods
2- Start killing stuff in the area until a mob pops at this location. This is how you start the spawn because the mobs will roam after 30 seconds or so, but they still act as the place-holder for Nezekezena and Phurzikon.
3- Kill the mobs that spawn at that spot. There are 80 seconds between each mob. Various skellies, Sarnaks, hornets, giants, apes, etc. will show up. So will Nezzy and Phurzy. Nezzy is the toughest but was super easy for a level 60 air pet to solo. I am not sure what that means for other classes.

Good luck!
