So there we are camping ol' Magi P'tasa. After a PH, he pops, we kill him with four people. Get this... He drops Staff of Elemental Mastery: FIRE!!! WTF? Not only does he drop Earth rarely, now he drops the completely wrong staff...ugh.

He does indeed drop the Staff of Elemental Mastery: Fire...

...as well as the Earth. Got confused myself during this last Hate raid and thought I had finally got the needed staff, only to realize later that I had looted the Fire.

6 hours with 3 Magi pops. First dropped the Fire staff, 2nd and 3rd each dropped the Wand of Swords. Very easy kill with 1 group, just time consuming.

Magi now has, just like every other classic 'mini-boss' in hate, a PH and spawns in a set spot. For Magi he spawns very near the entrance. If you go right from the entrance and over that stairs, straight ahead is a open building (no door) with a piano. Magi spawns on the direct opposite side of the wall from the piano, PH is a male revenant. And it is CONFIRMED NOW. The Staff of Master Earth can and does drop on male revenants. I have personally seen the staff drop twice on the magi's PH. Whether it can only drop on the magi's ph or if it can drop on any revenant i am unsure of as yet.

We got the staff last night from a male revenant two buldings east of Magi P'Tasa. So it does drop from revs other than him or his placeholder.

Magi P Tasa Droped at long long long last my Shattered Emerald of Corruption for me last night June 30, 2003. Also dropped along with that the Staff of Elemental Mastery for our Mage:) Yay!!!!Only took just over a year to obtain the Emerald lol. I don't envy the Rangers out there that are dedicating themselvs to getting the SEoC. Its quite a long, frustrating, and discouraging endevour unless your EXTREMELY lucky. GL all!!!

We killed him about 3 times in the past week and twice in one day. He drop one item everytime which was a mage wand of some sort with the effect of shock of swords. I am hoping his loot table isnt broken on Terris Thule. I am looking to loot a Shattered Emerald off him for my epic.

Still spawns in New Hate. Unknown yet if he has a PH. Staff of Mastery: Earth still is not a common drop.

Killed him last weekend with 1 group. I wasn't pulling so I didn't know where he spawned from. He did drop a Staff of elemental mastery, but it was FIRE not earth. Don't know if they jacked his loot table. I petitioned it and never got a response (of course, who was I kidding)

Where did he spawn for you Xalmat? My guild was up in hate and cleared the area to the right from the zone in bridge for a few hours and did not see him up.

I can also say that he drops the earth staff when he weilds it. Wanna know what suxs....I bought the MQ 3 days ago...got epic yesterday :)...hate staff drops tonight ;( doh lol
he spawned on the first floor...was easy..dropped staff and 2 mage bracers..kinda crappy loot to go w/ it but hey thats life

Well My Isp went down for 2 weeks and my guild had a hate raid. Well me and this other mage in my guild were equal in epics but my isp went down i missted the hate raid and he got the staff. Then the week after we went to Hate again and no Magi' P Tasa. Im going to be making more trips to hate!

He dropped the Shattered Emerald of Corruption tonight along with the mage epic staff. Shattered Emerald is a very rare drop off all the mini's.

I know I'm not a mage so I really have no business posting here :P

But can it be positively without a doubt confirmed that he wields staff if he has? I made a suicide run up last night to check and he wasn't wielding so I just wanted to make sure I made the right choice in leaving him there instead of getting a raid together for him :P

Really want that staff tho... our mage needs it and sky crown for epic, those are prolly the standard two for every other mage out there drawing near to epic completion...

Can confirm :
Seen him up without wielding anything - sure enough no staff
Seen him wielding a nice big staff - sure enough Mage epic staff was on the corpse

Only problem I see is that, since he can spawn in any of the mini-boss spots, can be a pain sometimes trying to find him.. rogue stands the nest chance - but no track.

I've gone to hate many times trying to get my epic. From what I've seen there are about 10 demi spawns throughout the zone. Each demi is random to spawn through those 10 and do not have PH. They appear to be on a 72 hour timer. I killed the Magi 6 times before getting a Staff of Elemental Mastery: Earth. From what I've been able to gather this staff is very rare. I'd estimate about 1 out of 5 spawns.

/sigh.. leave it to verant to jack up the drop rate 2 weeks after I FINALLY get the staff. Oh well, good for you people just starting the epic I suppose. I have a couple of new notes to add to the drop rate of this staff. Since the drop rate increase I have killed Magi P`Tasa 3 times and the staff has dropped twice. I have talked to some other people and I think it is about a 50% drop rate.
Last night when we were up we had a 51 mag with us... his first hate raid. He was our only mag (I was on my ranger getting my final epic piece for earthcaller, which I got!). Anyway, this lucky **** got boots, robe, arms, and Staff of Elemental Mastery: Earth... BLAH!

I'd been on large numbers of Hate raids, never seen this guy up, never seen any Apothic drop. Last night we were up there on a raid we weren't sure would work - both the clerics who stayed for any time weren't being played by clerics and the class balance was awful. Anyway, took out 6 minibosses, Magi included. All up I got 5 pieces of apothic and the mage wand. Staff dropped, but let the other mage have that since he was much closer to finishing epic.

So, while the guy talking about getting a near full set and the earth staff might be lying, he might not be. Drops for us were crown, 2 sleeves, bracer, boots and kilt. The crown and robe are definitely the good items of the set, while the bracer is a bit of a joke. I'm keeping it on me for those times when I need to carry more loot home. :) Sleeves are quite good with +7 int, rest of the gear is good for me on a PvP server.

Magi, like all mini bosses, is a semi-rare spawn with a placeholder on a 72 hour timer + or - 12 hours (60-84 hour spawn). He spawns in 10 different spots:

2 in rev house
2 on top floor in maestro's house
2 with ashenbone drakes on first floor
2 in inny's old lair
2 on second floor of second floor church.

last night we killes this guy, he did drop the staff but i didn't get it =( but i got the gloves , sleeves and the kilt wich wasn't bad at all. I was hopeing for the robe but i didnt get lucky =P. it was a very great raid.
