Soloed these as a 37 necro. The death squad doesnt spawn after they are dead.

Am a lvl 50 Ranger and can solo these guys with KEI. I merely root him then immolate and swarm of pain him, then pump a bunch of arrows into him. As DoTs expire I merely recast and root him again. When his hp's get about 25% I snare him so when root wears off he is below 20% then I just go in and swing away. I take zero damage which is cool, but these guys give crappy XP. Have not seen a death squad spawn yet and I always fight these guys on the ramp leading down.

With my low sk, Comeliendres (lvl 54, and troll) got one of those with snare-fear.
Comparing exp with fight time and mana used... better try solo at velke, those are bad exp if u think all the hps they have.

Death Squads?

Hmm... just took both these guys out with in a few minutes of one another (myself a level 45 druid, and my partner a level 50 ranger). We were on the inside when we did it - not on the ramp going down to them... we invised past them, then fought them one at a time inside that big open space that eventually goes to Kael, never saw a kromrif death squad spawn. We did this for a while, say two hours or so. Every time they respawned.

Don't know if we had luck on our side, or if the death squads only appear if you are outside the kael entrance when you kill the guardsmen.

Bard here. Using the second charm spell and all 4 dots available at 47th, I didn't get a scratch on me. Charm left one, have it attack the right one. Run up the ramp a little, and dot until the charm breaks, recharm the left one, which will be the one with the most hps if you've been dotting. Keep on doing this until 1 giant dies. Have the pet giant "sit" and get far enough away that you can still dot. Once charm breaks run circles dotting, until dead. BE VERY CAREFUL. After killing these two guards, the Death Squad spawns within a minute or so, and will most likely catch you. They are as fast as sow, so I hope you have a head start. They have spawned where ever I have been standing near the ramp to Kael.

yes,this is true.
I killed one and the other guardsman HP drop to 20%, then four Kromrif Death Squads appear .
Aggro range is wide, and run fast.
Be careful.

discovered these two at kael zone tonight, level 45 wizard with decent gear and kei able to solo without much trouble, and keep up with the spawn of about 25 minutes each. Rarely resisted my bonds of force and even more rarely my conflag. Also easy to single pull if you pull first one on left from behind the pillar.
Good luck, I got about a half a blue per kill at level 45. Also got numerous komrif heads and had 2 giant tunics drop.

these make perfect pets, as an enchanter i tried this thing out and i am now hooked, i have gotten 4 lvls in 4 days, my record pull with one of these is one yellow. i -flattened- the rygor fort with this pet. the rygors didn't help each other and this thing is high dmg output high regen high hp and low - med magic resistance. i ended that pull with 10 hp (yes 10hp scared the bejesus out of me) but it was worth it, got a rygor arm and legs as well as a bp off that also an earring of one of the ones at entrance of rygor fort. (fun fun fun) if you wish to see how i do it i am on bertoxx server and i would love to show yah. these are perfect for takeing manticors and beserkers.

Enchanters get your jboots and charm these: these are undercons and give people that try to fight them lots of trouble. Conversely, monsters that fight them find themselves in a great deal of trouble as well. I have gotten 3 yellows on ONE giant with a druid, with the giant constantly tearing mobs up, until we needed to take a bathroom break :x.

A full group of mostly low 40s, a 50 tank and a 51 necro managed to take them down one at a time. It didn't take that long, we were lucky to single pull these. Yes, they do hurt, and it is quite insane when it wears phantom armor, a complete set of it. (yea, the no rent stuff that weighs a ton) He was also dual weilding a velium rapier and warhammer, dropped a frost ring, some shoulders with int and mana... Ok, lets just say i couldnt loot for i would be way too encumbered. A full balanced group can take these. Fear and darkness worked best on these.

me 46 war a 47 war and a 52 cleric had a real tough time with one of these things maxed for about 128 and had a ton of hp, we killed it though

Kromrif Guard is not listed here but one chased me to the GD zone because it RESISTED SNARE 10 TIMES!
I almost died and running him to the dwarves got them mad at him but did not help!

They are fixed at level 45 and give negative faction with Kromrif and Kromzek, and positive faction with Coldain and ClawsofVeeshan when killed.
Spawntime seems to be around 25 minutes.

These are most certainly not fixed in level. They vary from 43 - 45 and they hit ya from 126 (lv 43) to 130 (lv 45).

The rest of your post on faction and spawn time is correct.

i am a lvl 50 necro on luclin i have been killing these guys for a bit but i wouldnt suggest it to anyone under 50 it takes about all i have and with over 7k hp i find myself zoning bcause snare and root go at the same time alot. i have a 201int and i am in lich for while killing them and i use ALL my manna. one good thing about these guys is they regen at a normal rate so the dont regen 4khp in the time you zone med and come back you just find em half dead, there tough

Forgive me if this comes across as a dumb question but does this mob give +Coldain and +CoV Faction like many other Velious Giants? The reason I ask is that a few (IE: the Elites at the bridge in IC) do not give Faction. Just wanted to make sure before investing the time in trying to hunt these guys. Thanks for any info. =o)

This is probably VERY late, but yeah, they give the same faction hits as all the other giants in EW. -Kromzek, -Kromrif, +Coldain, +Claws of Veeshan.

There are 2 guardsman located at the base of the ramp to Kael. My lvl 40 has never seen a yellow, so I am inclined to believe they are 43-45. They hit for 126 (43) to 130 (45) and bash for 50. Respawn time is approx 25-30 minutes. Estimating 7k hp. The only rare drop on these is the Giant tunic Ac 18 +10 str +20 hp +5 cold LRG races only.

For a lvl 51 magi, this mob is doable but with risk. Either you have to chain summon pets or you need lots of INT. I have 193 and I usually run oom before I could kill this thing. The respawn time for me was something that worked pretty well for my med time anyway. Didn't time it exactly. Good exp for 51 (hell lvl) but usually drops nothing. Hope my info helps.
